This is a 4 star review for a 2 star hotel. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this place,…read moreit's just very basic. It was clean, the A/C in the room worked well, and the bed was comfortable. We stayed here because we had a wedding reception up this way and didn't want to drive home. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, sugary cereals, low fat artificially sweetened yogurt, coffee mate instead of 1/2+1/2, and bread products. The coffee was good though. There is an indoor pool - but who wants to swim indoors in the summer - not me. Several of the guests stayed here - so after we returned from the reception we all hung out together in the lobby area at the tables. The clerk was nice enough to let us drink and chat past midnight without kicking us out. It served its purpose, but certainly wouldn't be a destination!

The front desk staff were super nice and accommodating. The room was clean and well maintained. The bed was actually pretty comfy. The water pressure for showers was good. There is a small indoor pool for the kids. Overall we were pretty happy with our stay. The Negatives - The continental breakfast was just a bunch of breakfast bars, cereal dispensers with milk in the fridge and some coffee. Basically grab and go snacks. The pool was a bit cold, I think they already turned the heater off for summer. We had to put towels at bottom of hotel room door because so much light beamed through. The room we stayed in didn't offer a lot of plugs to charge devices. But that's pretty much it for the bad. We will for sure use this location again when we are in the area for baseball tournaments.

The front desk person was a very pleasant man, handed us the key and we walked into the room. No exaggerations the room didn't look like the photos posted on their website. Cleanliness was not presentt, mold on carpet, no air conditioner that worked and an old space heater. Spoke to the gentleman about not staying the remaining that last 2 nights and he was very understanding but no refund was offered for days we wouldn't be staying. We paid in advance. Had booked another hotel for the remaining 2 nights. Try to avoid this motel when in Imlay City.

They assured us over and over that we would be okay to check in at the time requested (we were traveling out of town for a wedding and needed a later check in). Turns out they either didn't understand our request (language barrier?) or just flat out lied. Upon arrival to check in, the place was locked and closed for the night. Should have known that if we had to call four times just to make sure they understood what we needed, that this place would be a joke. The person on the phone seemed to be reading from a script, they would flip pages and read every time a question was asked. Don't waste your time and money! Find a different hotel, that's what we had to do.

The suite has a large bedroom and a separate sitting room and a separate private bath. It takes up one whole upper side of the large house. It, like the rest of the inn, was immaculate. We checked in late afternoon and through the beautiful wall-wide windows watched the sun setting over the snow. Gorgeous. Everything about Maple Cove exceeded our expectations. So comfortable and warm. Plenty of hot water for a tub in the morning, window seats in both the sitting area and the bedroom for sunrise and sunset views. Beautifully decorated, but not kitschy or cluttered. They also supplied a mini-fridge, a K-cup coffee maker, plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows. In the morning Jan made us a gourmet breakfast. I do not exaggerate. An incredible omelet, fruit and yogurt parfait, fresh coffee, grilled sourdough toast, potatoes (perhaps fondant?) and orange juice. Plus homemade cinnamon scones! We loved it and will go back in the summer to use the pool! This may be the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in. Thank you, Jan and Mark!

We were just there 3 full days July 2nd to the 5th 2026. No words are enough to describe the home…read moreand the new owners are incredible sweetest ever. They are 2nd year owners taking over from previous owners that ran it 35+ years. They are so very gracious and to think re-visiting where I grew up "was" going to do a 3 stay hotel in Marysville till I looked up the rates for the Heather and for over the major July 4th the room daily fee was a mere $42.00 more a night and included a no joke "Chef Gordon Ramsey" quality breakfast every morning. We got to see all the rooms being nobody was there yet for that day and it took a few days to see every detail. Pictures don't do enough so to see in person was a treat and every room is decorated it's own way. The place is really quiet also even when other people were around it's just really nice and we didn't hear anything the whole three days there just when people came down for breakfast. You get your own front door key to come and go as you please anytime the front door locks behind you. The A/C in the rooms are perfect and whisper quiet never heard such a quiet unit before no motel ones are like that. TV, internet, every room a bathroom some have a jacuzzi. Bed was high end and so were the sheets and pillows. Everything you need is there to use even a hair dryer on the wall. Lots of storage for clothes and other furniture to sit on besides a bed. Everything antique is just amazing and talk about super clean. Every room has it's own balcony and you can just look out and see the freighters going by in the St. Clair river. That coffee quality is something I never had before and asked them what they use and said we get in Port Huron specially made in a coffee house. Amazing inside that as well but the Heather owners are the best so being the previous owners were awesome for many years, these two young people have a huge reputation to uphold and they are doing just that. Can't say enough about them and the experience staying there. The breakfasts are 8:30 and we chose the front window table for 2 every morning full service facing the river they bring everything to you this is not buffet it's full service included in price. They have a real large table for multiple people to have breakfast also. NEVER had breakfasts like these before that good and so unique and every day is different not repeated. For the rates and what you get who needs a boring common motel that can cost this easily and more most of the time for each night and just maybe get a generic breakfast. The Heather B&B is a hidden treasure and been there so many years. Post this and share comments. People may think a historic B&B is high priced but search rooms by name and rates you'll find this is a bargain and very special.

Very easy to book online and be sure to get a rewards sign up. We did a package that included pizza and pop, a chicken dinner at Zehnders, and a breakfast buffet for both mornings. The hotel is easy to spot next to Bronner's. The theme of gnomes and fairies is so adorable. Staff are awesome! They were so sweet to my daughter and us. Whether it was our waitress, lifeguards at the waterpark, or the front desk. We were able to check in early, so be sure to ask! Our room was one of the older rooms and was one of the ADA compliant rooms, which has larger doorways, no bathtub, a queen bed, and a seating area with a fireplace. The room decorations and everything in it are original. It's very desperately needs to get a facelift. The room was right off of the front desk in waterpark, so walking to the action only took a few steps. I noticed there is no recycling bin. There was a mini refrigerator, but the temperature control wasn't the greatest. Carpet was buckling. The seating area did have a pullout couch, but the couch itself was slippery with the fabric and pretty uncomfortable. Not sure how well house keeping was. There was a Nerf gun instructions paperwork behind one of our bedside nightstands. The water pressure was awesome. The bedding felt clean and the bed overall was comfortable. Housekeeping was able to give us a few more towels off their cleaning cart, which was nice. There is an arcade, but it's definitely not as big as the other hotel down the street. It's very crammed into one room. The pizza and cheese bread was absolutely delicious. Was not expecting that for a kid themed hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but the buffet items don't change. So the second day we were already kind of sick of the options. They do a nightly movie night in the lobby at 8 PM. If our daughter was older, we definitely would've snuggled up in the lobby to watch the movie. The waterpark was our favorite. Our daughter is just over two, and I was so surprised at how many things she was able to do. She even got to go on a waterslide with us, holding her to go down. Also, she was able to go down a waterslide all by herself, so she thought she was super cool! At the hotel down the street, there's barely anything for a two-year-old to do at their waterpark. She absolutely loved being able to wade in the water with the toddler pool going up to 2 feet. She also was brave enough to go under the big bucket that splashes. We stayed two nights and I think we went to the waterpark at least four or five times and she never got sick of it. There is a security checkpoint for the waterpark. Security will put UV light on your wristband to make sure it's not a fake also go through any bags that you're bringing into the waterpark. Do not bring towel towels, the waterpark provides towels for you. Additionally, they provide lifejackets. There are plenty of tables and chairs all along both water parks, the old side and the new side. The new side wasn't as toddler friendly. There was a small slide she could go down, otherwise there really wasn't much else for her to do. We had a great stay and I think with them updating all of the hotel rooms, I think Zehnder's is the place to be!
