Very nice stay. Here for a lovely wedding. The event space was really set up nicely. The warmth of the fireplace, decor and the windows all helped make the event really special. The food was quite good especially for a wedding. They served stuffed chicken, brisket and mashed potatoes and the desserts were delicious! While at the hotel, we walked over to Freighters for a bit to have a cocktail. We sat by the fireplace and had a good view of the expansive restaurant space. It would be a great place to dine to watch the ships and water. The food looked good. I hope we are able to come back to try some of their fare. The room was more than adequate. Clean, the beds were comfy. The room could use some upgrades with USB and C ports and outlets by the desk. Other than that, it was quite pleasant. We were able to see the courtyard, the bridge and the icy water. We enjoyed the winter views. During our stay, each person who worked there were all helpful, friendly and welcoming. Do not get a balcony room here. So noisy at night because management allows children to play outside until 11 pm. Very disrespectful of the guests who paid larger rates to have the balcony rooms. We will not stay here again. read more

My family had a wedding tonight and filled up over half of this hotel which is not worth the money by the way. And at 11 o'clock kicked us out of the biggest venue in the hotel and put us in a very small room for our after party. Which no one knew was going to happen! I'm sure you can figure out the rest... Rooms have balconies facing the water and views of the blue water bridge connecting Port Huron to Sarnia. Ontario. Very peaceful n calming surroundings. There's a walking/ bike bath by the river for anyone who wants to go for a walk or bike. Social distancing maintained. Stayed Dec 2022. Clean rooms. Everything in the room was in working order, except the bathroom vent wasn't the best so some water drops/lines would be visible. Friendly staff, the gym and pool were nice. We did not have the food there so cannot comment on that. House keeping would clean the room every few days but if I asked to switch out towels or anything they were always helpful. We did have someone vandalize our vehicle, but they do not have cameras on the parking lot unfortunately. Feel this is a safety concern in many ways. Came in town for a family wedding and we stayed at this Marriot. The place was beautiful and clean and friendly. But I'd like to share a little bit about the bartenders. Our two bartenders were wonderful. I cannot say enough about Cheyenne and Tim. We all met at the hotel bar after the wedding. 70 or more people we bombarded the bar! Tim and Cheyenne added to our Joy. They were fast friendly and a lot of fun. I would love to give them 10+ stars!!!! They are two shining stars with awesome customer service skills. They made our night even more enjoyable. Kudos to Cheyenne and Tim for a wonderful experience. Aunt Chrissy from Cali says thank you so much. I love you too. Now, on another note, if I have to rate the shuttle driver, he doesn't get any stars. He slammed the van door and burned rubber out of the front of the hotel because he was mad there was still another ride needed. He's very unprofessional. Everything else was wonderful. read more

Not having ESPN at home and not wanting to drink and drive for the National Championship game, we booked a room at the Port Huron Doubletree for last night. Relatively close to us and easy to access, it's a beautiful hotel, with onsite bar and restaurant. Check-in was quick, and I was given my AARP discount just by asking. Had a wonderful dinner at Freighters, where we had eaten several times before, but this broiled whitefish was literally the best fish I had ever tasted. Room was comfortable and quiet (except for the two early Michigan touchdowns) and Michigan won which made it all the better. Don't let the closeness of the Blue Water Bridge dissuade you, you won't hear the bridge traffic. All in all we will return for little overnight staycations. read more

It's been a long time since a business moved me to write a review like this. My mother wanted my wife and I to get away for the weekend for our anniversary. She kept saying Port Huron. Me personally, I'm thinking there is NOTHING to do in Port Huron. I was wrong! This hotel alone is enough reason for me to come back monthly. The staff was friendly and actually fun to talk to. The jacuzzi was perfect, the pool was big and the room was comfortable. I told the staff while reserving our room that it was our anniversary. They had a card to that was personally signed by the staff, chocolates and some awesome gummy bears for us. Nice touch! Lastly, the view of the river from our balcony was just beautiful. We sat out there and watched the HUGE ships travel the river day and night. It was perfect. I highly recommend this DoubleTree to anyone traveling in the area. Gym and pool were great! All staff, from front desk to waitstaff in restaurant, were friendly and helpful. We stayed on a Friday night during the holiday season and the room was still quiet. We also liked being able to let in fresh air (and the balcony had chairs). Warm cookies were a nice touch! Would definitely stay here again! read more

Large room, very clean and the staff was amazing. We were here for a wedding 6/10/23. Our food was plated and the catering staff was so fast. Everyone was able to eat at the same time. They were super quick to clear and serve next course. The bar staff was awesome and we really enjoyed that the wedding was both inside and out in the courtyard. Pretty view of the bridge and the water with the bonus of freighter watching. We were up early and staff was already cleaning common areas. Everyone was super nice. Easy checking and easy check out. We stayed here in May of 2020 and I can honestly say I have never found a hotel more spotless then this hotel. The room was huge, nice amenities like refrigerator, microwave, huge bathroom with a rainshower head, beautiful view of the St Clair River. The staff was so helpful and professional too. The staff is great and it's a cool view. But there are a few things to know about the hotel before book a room here. 1. Unless you upgrade to the "water view" don't bother Your view - even if you're an Honors Member - will be of a parking lot unless you book the more expensive water view. This will cost you $40+ per night depending on the room type. 2. They host weddings/receptions in the "Abbey" room, which is RIGHT UNDER a big chunk of rooms The Abbey Room is advertised heavily as a wedding/reception hosting facility because of the water view. During summer months they have weddings/receptions here frequently, and they spill out into the open area. All of this happens right below all of the rooms in the middle of the hotel. If you need to go to bed early and don't want to hear the dull thump of a DJ you'll need to book a non-water view and a room away from the center of the hotel. 3. There is no free breakfast and the restaurant in the hotel is pretty weak Unlike Hampton Inn and others who have a nice little breakfast area, all this hotel has is "Freighters", which is a very mediocre restaurant. Service when we went was abysmal, and the breakfast buffet was out of items and bland. The hotel is kinda out by itself by the water, so if you want anything else to eat you have to drive a half a mile to Pine Grove Avenue for Tim Horton's/McDonald's/etc. 4. The rooms are kinda run down and "quirky" For some unknown reason they don't have a closet for coats by the door. Instead they have a relatively small armoire all the way inside the room by the window. The walls are thin so if someone is talking or has the TV on you will hear them/they hear you. Bathroom counter is cramped...if more than one person is in the room it's going to be snug. Faucet fixtures are a bit loose and dinged up. Paper starting to peel. On the plus side the beds and pillows are comfy and they give you plenty of towels. 5. It's a bit of a hike from the front desk to the elevators ...particularly if you get a room at one end or the other to avoid the noise. All in all if you end up in that perfect room on the 3rd floor on the water side of the hotel far away from the noise it's a cool view for the 15 minutes you'll look at it before leaving to find something to eat. Aside from that it's not much. read more

We had a very good stay during a getaway weekend during the pandemic. The hotel & surrounding area is very clean and the staff was accommodating, helpful and personable. As a side note, Doubletree's policy could be a little more clear it about smoking marijuana. We consistently smelled marijuana upon opening the elevator doors and on our floor. Smoking is prohibited, but the non-smoking rule should apply to all smoking. read more

This is a wonderful place to decompress and enjoy the freighters glide up and down the river. The Blue Water Bridge is in plain sight and so close you can hear the diesel engine of the tractor trailers as they climb the bridge with full loads in their trailers. If you stay here get the river view it is the only real reason to stay. We arrived and the fire dept was there trying to discover why the fire alarms were going off. Ah the joys of travel always full of surprises. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the bathroom looked like it needed a deep clean, not just a daily clean. Dirt build up on baseboards and cracked caulk are indicators that a good inspection tour by a responsible leader is way over due. The last one is a preference item. The desk chair was uncomfortable. Does anyone sit in these chairs and love them? This is a business hotel and I found it more comfortable to work outside my room. Overall, I would say this is a wonderful place that I would recommend for family or business travel. Paid $132. plus tax and No breakfast. Coffee in lobby in morning. read more

Port Huron is certainly a cool city with a great riverfront to enjoy. The bonus of our visit was our stay with the Doubletree. This property by Hilton is a gem with wonderful river view rooms that are spacious and very accommodating. We loved sitting on our balcony watching the river activities. Beautiful remodel of the old (and I do mean old) Thomas Edison Inn. There are only three things didn't care for during my 2 night stay: 1) The warm cookie that was presented to me at check in had nuts - there wasn't a no nut option available at the time- not good for someone with a peanut allergy. 2) Not enough electrical outlets in the room for various gadgets - all of the outlets were behind furniture or were in use by other things in the room except for the plugs on the desk - but that doesn't help if you're working from the bed 3) No vent fan in the restroom - steam everywhere after the shower Minor stuff I know - but it was a great stay. Now for the on-site restaurant - see my other review (don't waste your time or money there) It's not owned or managed by the Doubletree, but they sure have to take the heat for it... read more

Comfy, good location under the bridge, but no trolls here! Just up to date accommodations, beautiful view of the river, and river side rooms with patio/balcony. Large lawn with outdoor seating. Didn't use the fitness center: they were updating the floors. It looked good though and will be open soon. read more

I spent nine nights here and it flew by! What a great hotel. The pool is really something, big and well taken cared for. There is a good size fitness center, a great restaurant and the staff all excellent and very accomodating. The location is also spectactular, located right on the st. clair looking right over to Canada. There is a beautiful walk along the banks of the river. A great place! read more

We've stayed here twice and would come back a hundred more times! We love watching the freighters pass and the hotel staff is extremely hospitable and accommodating! Each time they have upgraded our room and guests are greeted with a warm, fresh cookie. The pool area is very nice, the gym is clean and well stocked, the rooms are clean and nice. We have stayed at this hotel for our Anniversary a lot in the 38 years of our marriage and this LAST stay was the worst the room was dirty we think the sheets had been slept in before us the lighting was very poor in the room and the shower was just a dribble no pressure or they put a water saver in shower head either way you don't charge $209.00 for a sub par room the restaurant there Freighters the breakfast buffet was horrible they have a sign in hotel by elevators with PANCAKES ON IT full breakfast buffet only no pancakes in the buffet and they charged $10.00 for pancakes and $10.95 for the buffet the bacon and sausage way undercooked we will NOT BE BACK OUR STAY WAS THE WORST EVER read more

I was looking for a nearby stay-cation for my first anniversary and found this hotel. I was definitely satisfied with our one-night stay. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. The location was great - right on the water front next to the river walk. We took advantage of many of the hotel's amenities - we enjoyed the pool, and while we didn't use the fitness center, it was well-stocked and clean. The adjoining restaurant/bar, Freighters, has a great happy hour specials until 10:00 pm. Can't beat $2 beers and half-off appetizers. This hotel definitely fit the bill for a quick getaway. read more

Just checked out I am very disappointed that no one told us pool was closed along with jacuzzi. We go every year for my birthday just to relax with a great view. This has to be brief, so here are the things I enjoyed about this DoubleTree location: Queen with "partial city view" is actually really cool, as you get half of the incredibly blue-watered channel in that view also. Bathroom products are Crabtree & Evelyn from the Citron collection and will leave your skin feeling and smelling delicious. Rooms include a fridge and microwave, perfect for reheating the remaining portions of your huge restaurant servings from the night/day before. Michiganders can eat! The rooms are spacious, the beds are very comfortable, and the room comes equipped with black out curtains so that if you need to rest midday, you're not battling bright rays of sunshine to catch your zzzz's. Freighters, the attached restaurant, is part of the Twisted Rooster chain and the drafts on tap are all local. When I was here, Bell's must have had a tap takeover, because their delicious beers were offered on at least half of the available taps. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I was in MI because my Grandmother was dying, and the manager promptly gave me the reduced rate for bereavement; she also helped me find local transportation that was less expensive than the normal taxi services. Here are some things I did not enjoy: The walls are SUPER thin. If anyone in the next room talks above a low conversational tone, it's like they're sitting on the bed next to you holding a conversation. The restaurant, Freighters, offers food that ranges from "heavy" to "heavier." Maybe this is a symptom of Michigan winters and people who are looking to maintain their energy via mass amounts of carbohydrates, but after a long day on the plane, I'd like something a little more light and fresh to push aside that travel-weary feeling. The only reason this DoubleTree didn't receive 5 stars was because of the thin walls. I had a very early morning on Sunday and was trying to catch some z's after a drive to the Detroit Metro airport and both my neighbors and very loud children in the hall woke me out of my slumber several times. However, overall, my experience was great and I'd definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. read more

Stayed here while visiting some family in town. Greeted at the lobby with typical friendly and warm Double Tree hospitality and service. Quick and efficient check-in with information provided on the hotels amenities. Was given options on the rooms view and location which was nice to be able to have a choice in the matter. Room was large and roomy, very clean as well. The view of the Blue Water Bridge where the St. Clair River meets Lake Huron was just absolutely beautiful. Across the river was Sarnia, Canada and a casino is just a short drive away if you have your passport with you. The hotel has a nice restaurant, a nice gift shop with a large variety of things, a large gym that was very nice (never seen a gym this large in a hotel), and a very warm and steamy indoor pool as well. I will definitely be staying at this location anytime I'm in the region. read more

If you can stay before they find out there's a hockey tournament in town, then the pricing is pretty fair. If not, it costs too much...they add about $100/night. The hotel is clean, people are super friendly, pool good size as is the exercise room. Bathrooms and rooms spacious enough, and breakfast is good. For hockey, the rinks are close by but don't get a room during a tournament because the halls can get loud. Canada is no more than 5 minutes over the bridge. I do wish they had laundry rooms, especially if you are there for hockey, which it seems is how they do a big part of their business. read more

We enjoyed our 2 night stay this week. It's a nice hotel with a great view along the river. The attached restaurant/bar is pretty cozy but the food and service is mediocre at best. There pool is very nice. Unfortunately, it's not for GUESTS ONLY as it was overrun by senior citizen groups for the better part of each day. They never leave! We enjoy staying at nice hotels but we prefer a private pool for hotel patrons ONLY. read more
