Never had a bad stay here,Staff has always gone above and beyond reasonably Tonight in particular the Young Lady Concierge was amazing navigating a rush of patrons and answering phone call questions. Great positive attitude while being inundated all at once , she is ******* AWSOME and a rare one 2024 5/11/24 I wish her the world.......

Nice hotel, very clean, staff was very polite. We went to the dining room. as you're eating your lunch or breakfast you can watch the freighters ships drive bye. I recommend this place and I would stay there again.

We stayed at this hotel 2 days ago. Very nice hotel. Great location on the st clare river . Friendly front desk staff. Spacious Clean and comfortable rooms w clean bathrooms . Rooms have balconies facing the water and views of the blue water bridge connecting Port Huron to Sarnia. Ontario. Very peaceful n calming surroundings. There's a walking/ bike bath by the river for anyone who wants to go for a walk or bike. Social distancing maintained. If you happen to be in port Huron and looking for a place to stay you won't go wrong staying at Double tree.

It's been a long time since a business moved me to write a review like this. My mother wanted my wife and I to get away for the weekend for our anniversary. She kept saying Port Huron. Me personally, I'm thinking there is NOTHING to do in Port Huron. I was wrong! This hotel alone is enough reason for me to come back monthly. The staff was friendly and actually fun to talk to. The jacuzzi was perfect, the pool was big and the room was comfortable. I told the staff while reserving our room that it was our anniversary. They had a card to that was personally signed by the staff, chocolates and some awesome gummy bears for us. Nice touch! Lastly, the view of the river from our balcony was just beautiful. We sat out there and watched the HUGE ships travel the river day and night. It was perfect. I highly recommend this DoubleTree to anyone traveling in the area. I've traveled a lot and I can honestly say this is my new favorite DoubleTree. Thanks for everything guys!

The view is beautiful. We had a room with a balcony and I took some good photos. The beds are stiff I didn't sleep all that well but overall the room is clean and doesn't have a horrible smell like other hotels do. We would like to come back soon.

Our favorite weekend getaway. We have been coming here for three years and the staff is fab! Our rooms are always clean and exactly what you would expect from a doubletree. Beaches and lighthouse is close by. The freighters are what we love the most and you can sit on your balcony and watch them up close.

We stayed here in May of 2020 and I can honestly say I have never found a hotel more spotless then this hotel. The room was huge, nice amenities like refrigerator, microwave, huge bathroom with a rainshower head, beautiful view of the St Clair River. The staff was so helpful and professional too. They met all our needs. Can't wait to book again.

Great location close to Blue Water Bridge, with water views of Clair River. Great staff! We stayed several days during the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown, at a crazy time-hotel mostly shutdown, no restaurant, very reduced services, basically managers doing everything!! Staff let us stay with our well behaved dog, and they were super helpful in our quest to get across the Canadian border during the border lockdown !! We made it and We thank Amber, Samantha, and Keegan enough!!!

I told my husband this was by far one of the top hotels we have visited for years. Desk people where very friendly. The breakfast was great, as was the breakfast lady. One complaint was the outside of the tub and the corners of the bathroom floor could have been cleaner. Free baked cookies like Country Inn and Suites offer would be nice to include as an added perk.

(We travel often so we carry disinfectant wipes to clean airplane seats & hotel rooms ourselves,…read moreeven at 5-Star accommodations) This is a disheartening review, and one that is truly disappointing to write. One-star review is generous. I am an IHG member (many years) and have stayed at quite a few Holiday Inns and Suites and quite a few Holiday Inn Vacations in North America. We have never been disgusted and disappointed until this location in Port Huron, MI. (In fact, we were returning guests from a few years ago. We stayed in their 2-room King Suite & it was clean, relaxing & pleasant) I booked a reservation via Expedia.com (our plan for the weekend was bargain hunting during the "Longest Yard Sale" of the USA) 1st Red Flag: When we arrived, a guest in front of me (at the front desk) was voicing concern that her reservation wasn't correct (she booked adjoining rooms but they gave her two rooms across from each other instead) 2nd Red Flag: I reserved a 2-room king suite but was given keys to a 1-room king standard instead. 3rd Red Flag: We were stuck with the king standard (for 3 guests) because the hotel was sold out. 4th Red Flag and a major red flag: Mold was in the shower. Again, hotel was sold-out and we couldn't be moved to a different room. Other Red Flags: * Pool and pool floor was dirty * Pool water temperature was hot * Water fountains were dirty * Hotel couldn't provide extra towels * 24-hour coffee machines (in lobby) weren't available after 3pm (Coffee machine was not in our room) Holiday Inn blamed Expedia for false advertising of their rooms and Expedia blamed Holiday Inn for sending the wrong information regarding their rooms. Employees of Expedia and Holiday Inn were professional and sympathetic but reasonable and immediate solutions were not in our favor. Holiday Inn Express & Suites-Port Huron is operated by the Amerilodge Group. I am still waiting for a phone call and an email. At the time of this post, Amerilodge hasn't responded to Expedia either. We couldn't enjoy our weekend because of the filthy accommodations. We did look into other places to stay but those were sold out as well. So, we sadly returned home.

Under the guise of I will be closer to the dog walk area, I was placed on the first floor next to the back door. Not an issue, until I walked into the room. No real carpet, just and inside/outside floor covering. No padding, just glued directly to the concrete. The furniture was out of a garage sale, beat up and unkept. Sheet on the bed were old and worn. So old the elastic on the fitted sheet no longer gripped the matress. I never leave a bad review. I there is nothing nice to say i leave it alone. But the manager on duty continually lied on the idea I was put into a dog room. Said there was no such thing. I asked why no carpet, she replied that there must of been a maintenence issue that was unresolved. I told her I checked the room next to me during cleaning and it was the same. A dog room. Just outside my room there was carpet with padding, but not in mine. I paid for a king bed, was given a queen. I guess that is what dog rooms get. Now there was an area for my pup to do her business, but no grass, all lava rock. I invited the manager to walk on it barefooted, because my pup was. It is jagged and unsafe for pets. While this facility is pet friendly, be prepared to stay in a dog room. Not the room you reserved online. felt like i was punished for bringing my pup, and paid for that punishment.

I do love the little 1950's and 60's motels and have encountered a wealth of those that have been reconditioned and renovated yet charge a nightly rate less than the Flamingo. Starting with the good, the clerk was very nice. She only takes cash, not set up for credit cards she said. I can find no receipt for the place so I assume she didn't give me one and I just didn't notice. Fortunately I had enough cash on me. Due to road construction in the area it had been an ordeal to find this place in the dark and I didn't want to go looking for another. My first impression of the room was that it was darling and quaint with a pretty bedspread. My second impression was that there was a very strong, very old, unpleasant smoke smell permeated into every pore of the room, the kind that gets into your hair, clothes and belongings the minute they touch anything. Then, over the course of the evening, night and morning more problems became evident. There was a large stain on the carpet near the frig that I stepped on with bare feet later and found it to be saturated wet and cold. I don't know if there was a leak from the recent heavy rains or from the fridge. I laid a paper over it just to remind me not to step on it again. When I went looking for a plug to recharge my phone there was a definite shortage of them and I discovered the lamp cord plugs looked like they were from the 1930's. See my pix if you think I'm exaggerating. I unplugged one lamp after seeing the cord was nearly split in two and looked like a shock hazard, as well as a fire hazard. That freed up a plug for my phone, though not conveniently close to the bed so I could use it while charging. The bathroom trash was sitting under the sink, making me wonder if there was a leak being captured. The tub had serious stains but I don't know if it was unclean it maybe just had paint spills in it. I didn't use it. The sink and toilet worked good and the room had a fridge, which I used. The security chain on the door was busted and unusable. The toilet seat was full of splinters, not where they easily would get on your toosh, but dangerously close. If every older motel was like this I would just figure that's the way older motels are. But all save one of the other older motels I stayed at were way nicer than this. And many were only $32-35/night. So do I recommend this place? Sadly, not particularly.
