I always try to get something new off the menu. The last time I got the fish and it was good for a bar. I usually get a burger. I must say that you should go there and get the bulldog burger It is HUGE and very tasty. I understand that this place has some bad reviews but c'mon people this is a small bar in a small town. There is not an executive chef in the back filling your order. You chose to go to a small town establishment and yet complain like you got a hundred dollar bill for a cheeseburger or something. Every single time I have went there (lots) I have had my order filled in decent time and it's always good. They have a full selection of beer and drinks too. My server has always been nice and taken the time to chat with me. One reviewer complained that the server brought the bill before they were done eating. Really? Where do they NOT do that. People need to give up on the fact that this is not the Marriott it's a small town grub and pub. And for what they have in place there it's a nice place to grab a beer and a burger. The prices are not as bad as some people have made out to be. They are manageable. Remember this is a true family owned business that takes an otherwise closed up town on a Sunday and gets your belly full. No complaints here and two thumbs up!

While at the hotel, we walked over to Freighters for a bit to have a cocktail. We sat by the fireplace and had a good view of the expansive restaurant space. It would be a great place to dine to watch the ships and water. The food looked good. I hope we are able to come back to try some of their fare. The room was more than adequate. Clean, the beds were comfy. The room could use some upgrades with USB and C ports and outlets by the desk. Other than that, it was quite pleasant. We were able to see the courtyard, the bridge and the icy water. We enjoyed the winter views. During our stay, each person who worked there were all helpful, friendly and welcoming. That made the experience even better.

We stayed 4 days 3 nights for around $375 total PROS : Fairly spacious 1 Bedroom cottage Kitchenette came fully equipped Doors on cottage locked securely Enclosed Porch Super family friendly with lots of outside activities for kids Movie night 2 days a week Walmart and Gas station right up the street Each cottage had a bbq grill (dirty) but they all had one CONS : Super narrow when driving down hill to unload your things into the cottage so turning around can be challenging (especially with the "no driving on grass" signs. You can unload but you have to park in the lot at the top of the hill and walk back down Wifi was not working well so your basically without service most of the time Lots of BEES The bed was really uncomfortable so we slept on the futon in the living room The heat didn't really work so at night and I'm the early morning it would be freezing. Like throw a hoodie on cold They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels But the blanket that's offered is mad thin so I wish I would of brought my own A few of the dishes were dirty and had to be rewashed before use The tv in my auntie cottage couldn't have been bigger then 20inch (my desktop monitor is bigger) mines was a little bigger then hers which she didn't understand because we paid the same amount for our separate cottages Bonfire pit was right off the water, so it was super windy, cold, and water kept splashing us while we were trying to get it lit The furniture in the cabins was pretty outdated not "rustic" ..outdated The cottages need face lifts which is obvious the paint in my bedroom what bubbling and separating from the walls The shower heads OMG the shower heads was just to much for me.. like if I needed to bring my shower head from home as well they could of just said that! lol but no seriously I was so sad taking a "quick" shower it gave me jail flashbacks! I could of came off another star if it wasn't like that. We didn't get much beach time in because it was pretty windy our entire stay and the current in the water was not playing lol Soooo our 3rd day was everyone's else's last day at the cottage so we end up getting our last day all to ourselves, and is being the nosey individuals that we are after they cleaned the rooms we asked if we could check out the other cottages, when I tell you I was sick that 2 of the other ones had real shower heads and better TVs we deemed 1,7,11 the best cottages to stay in (they have 11 total) We stayed in 4 and 6. The actual beach is a few minutes up the road and it's much more space with sand and the water was more calm to let the kids play in I believe it's called Lakeport state park Overall, would I go back? Maybe .. I wouldn't jump on the opportunity I would also only stay in one of those 3 cottages for a better experience.

After shopping and dinner in town we loved walking around the garden and relaxing on the porch in the evening. The historical house is beautiful and inviting. (And doesn't smell musty!) My friends and I shared the Lexington Suite. The room was very comfortable and clean. We had a relaxing and restful night. Since we were the only guests upstairs, we peeked in the other guest rooms. They were all lovely. The host, Barb, was delightful. She was so welcoming and kind. The breakfast she prepared the next morning was absolutely delicious. Even though you cannot book directly through the website, it was easy to contact Barb via email and reserve our room. She was really responsive and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend Inn the Garden.

Unfortunately, our experience at checkout was very different. Due to unexpected circumstances, we needed to leave one day early. Before speaking with the front desk, I reviewed the hotel's reservation policy and understood that an early departure fee could apply, which we were prepared to pay. However, the hotel manager did not take the time to listen to our request or review the reservation policy with us. Instead, she seemed focused on her phone and came across as unapproachable and uninterested in helping. We weren't expecting the fee to be waived--we simply hoped for a conversation and a willingness to look into our options. The front-line staff provided excellent customer service throughout our stay, but the interaction with the manager did not reflect that same level of professionalism or hospitality. With more attentive management, this would have been a much better overall experience.

The suite has a large bedroom and a separate sitting room and a separate private bath. It takes up one whole upper side of the large house. It, like the rest of the inn, was immaculate. We checked in late afternoon and through the beautiful wall-wide windows watched the sun setting over the snow. Gorgeous. Everything about Maple Cove exceeded our expectations. So comfortable and warm. Plenty of hot water for a tub in the morning, window seats in both the sitting area and the bedroom for sunrise and sunset views. Beautifully decorated, but not kitschy or cluttered. They also supplied a mini-fridge, a K-cup coffee maker, plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows. In the morning Jan made us a gourmet breakfast. I do not exaggerate. An incredible omelet, fruit and yogurt parfait, fresh coffee, grilled sourdough toast, potatoes (perhaps fondant?) and orange juice. Plus homemade cinnamon scones! We are in room three a two bed with a back bedroom and a front bedroom. Back bedroom is spacious. A small open type closet across from the bathroom. Front bedroom has a table with two chairs, loveseat, microwave, fridge, coffee pot and chest of drawers for your clothes if you want to store for longer visits. (We stayed one night) The walk to the beach is about 1 1/2 blocks a lovely walk too. There are stairs to the beach the way it's set up there it's almost like you have your own private beach with the jetty's. We stayed at the beach for about two hours and just relaxed and listened to the waves. A few boats and seagulls along with an occasional breaching fish. Quiet and very relaxing. Owners are on premises and extremely nice and not intrusive. Secure too. My hubs left the key in the door and she told us about it by knocking. Whoops... Is it dated? Yep but it is really a cool place to stay.

I ate at two of the three restaurants and attended a wedding and reception. Food was excellent at both restaurants and at the reception. At Emilio's Prime I enjoyed a wonderful beet/field green/goat cheese salad and a very tasty filet mignon Oscar. The crab appeared to have been sautéed instead of just boiled which added another dimension of flavor. The wine list was quite extensive and offered wines at a variety of price levels. They served the sorbet with champagne which I'd never experienced before. I took my yummy lemon meringue pie back to my room. I also ate twice at The Tin Cup where I had a chicken sandwich with a nice rosemary mayo and a Wagyu burger--both were excellent. The buffet at the reception was also very tasty as well as piping hot, nicely presented and never empty. Most impressive throughout my stay was the outstanding service--from the front desk staff to the organizers, servers and bartenders at the restaurants, wedding and reception. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional. The bartenders who served me lunch also served drinks at the reception and were delightful young women (their names escape me). Heather in The Tin Cup was very nice, friendly and provided more excellent service. Bonus--while having dinner at Emilio's, I met the man (Michael McMath) who painted the murals throughout the facility. I'm visiting from out of state but if I have the occasion to return to the area will plan to stay and/or eat here again.
