My daughter got us tickets. It was beyond amazing. The information about his life was surrounded by replicas of his works. There were areas where they brought is life and works to life. There were plenty of places to sit and enjoy. There was plenty of room for everyone to read without standing on top of one another. We spent a full half-hour in the final immersive room lying on a rug propping ourselves on plush pillows. We watched the entire 360 degree show. Hats off to the creators! A nice experience but not worth the cost. While visiting one of my besties and her baby, she really wanted to check this Immersive experience of Van Gogh artwork. She's a huge fan, and use to do some kind of work at an art museum in Washington DC, so this place seemed up her alley. She graciously paid $90 for our tickets ($40/adult + taxes and fees), and was sorely disappointed. The old huge warehouse was renovated into a small showcase of Van Gogh art via a few tv monitors and interpreted art sculptures that represent Van Gogh's themes. The main event is the 30 min art instillation that projects on the walls, with strobe lighting and loud music..which is the immersive experience that you're essentially paying for. Of course, there's an overpriced gift shop area..with posters, t-shirts, and art jigsaw puzzles..and a mini bar with over priced snacks items. We were happy to support the culture..but this not truly worth the cost. Thankfully the restrooms were clean (but did not contain any changing tables..and auntie Nneka changed a poopy diaper!!). Also, there was air conditioning and welcoming staff members who were helpful and offered to take our pictures with any of the life sized sculptures. So, its a nice effort..but only if you trying to be supportive of the cause..otherwise..semi hard pass on this one. read more

Was not worth the experience. The VIP tickets alone was not advantageous and pretty much a waste in my opinion. You were supposed to have priority in the line (literally no line), a seat cushion to use (there were seats IN the rooms to use), and the only thing you could keep was a choice of poster...really nothing special. The concept is cool and it looks like it would be an amazing experience (from videos/their website) but it was nothing spectacular. This location was a major head scratcher itself as they used the old Ford motor building and hand no air conditioning whatsoever (went during the summer), only large fans....which just moved the hot air around. On top of that, I left with a major headache as the heat combined with the overpowering smell of motor oil made it for an un-enjoyable experience. The video experience itself was good but people could move around and sit in seats if you didn't want to sit on the floor, which again defeats the purpose of paying for VIP tickets. The displays outside were nice to take pics with, and I really wanted to at least leave with some merch but everything was way too expensive! The whole experience was just rushed in itself as new groups would come in and out but I personally wanted to get it over with on top of that - as the heat and smell of oil was too much. read more

A great experience unlike anything I have seen before. I bought tickets in March and got one premium ticket that included a cushion. Check in was easy when you walked through the double doors. As you are entering the building there's an option to scan the QR code for the pre-show audio guide. You can also read the transcript. I recommend this for some context on the painting and music you will experience. Plenty of photo ops with sunflowers and the model T before entering the exhibit. You can also grab a drink to sip. I recommend this as well! The actual exhibit is about 30 minutes with moving, immersive art set to music in a giant space. We walked in and sat on the floor. When the program ended we moved to a different spot to enjoy the full program. Once you are done, you exit by more photo ops (paint can) and the gift shop. Lots of great gifts and they also have local artist work available for purchase close to the bar, so stop by and support local too! read more

This was the hottest thing to do in Charlotte for quite a few months. So much so that they extended it's stay several times and I think it just now ended. I'm not sure the 3 star Yelp rating really reflects that. We loved this experience. It was a little pricey, but I thought it was worth it. I loved that they integrated the work of several local artists outside of the main part of the exhibit. The projection show was about an hour long and you could stay as many times as you want. I really like Van Gogh and I thought this was a really unique way to experience his work. As someone who isn't a big fan of museums, I really liked this approach instead. read more

I've been dying to check out this exhibit for YEARS. I actually got my tickets on the first day it went on sale...and have been waiting ever since! Well, I FINALLY was able to check it out the other night...and this was my take. First of all, the Van Gogh "immersion" experience was AMAZING...and I loved every second of it! I actually knew what to expect since I've seen videos and pics from folks I follow in Europe, and bigger cities in U.S...and in a way, I expected too much. Still, considering this isn't New York, the event space in Camp Northend wasn't that bad. Could have been bigger...and definitely much cooler. A/C was my big issue. They had fans blowing throughout the place, but it just wasn't enough. Anyway, we got there at 4 pm to hopefully miss the crowd, but no such luck. The room was packed when we first walked in, and I wondered if we needed to wait for the next run for our seats. Luckily, some seats opened up. One thing I'll definitely recommend is buying the cushions (Premium Tickets)...especially if you plan on staying for a second showing. Each "immersive" show is about 30 minutes, and really, once wasn't enough...so stayed for another run. Each time you see it, you see something new...Honestly, I can't get enough of such spectacular, arty entertainment. I tried my best not to, but ended up taking a ton of pics!! (What I've attached is just a tiny fraction lol) Must mention the outstanding music selection that accompany the artwork! Don't think they could have chosen better music to perfectly showcase Van Gogh's work. Also, I appreciated the various photo props (from Sunflowers and Wall Tapestry to VG Painted Retro Car!), as well as all the cute Van Gogh items on sale. LOVE my new VG wallet and coin bag! All of which made this entire "immersive" experience well worth my time. I'd love to give 5 stars, but I have to dock a star for the overall lack of comfort...again, A/C was an issue for me. More than that, I felt that there were too many people in the room...some just walking around during the show. From other "immersion" shows I've seen on YouTube or Instagram, it seemed that other cities hosted this same event with much more space...but again, I could be wrong. Immersive art is something that is fun for all ages so I was really excited when I found out this exhibit was coming to Charlotte. It's hosted in the Ford Building at Camp North End, so it's spacious enough to enjoy while keeping social distance in mind. Everyone was super helpful and the process to get you through the door to the exhibit was pretty efficient. With a day in the high 80's, they did an excellent job of circulating cool air throughout the exhibit (it's an open industrial space so it was much appreciated). The overall experience offers a plethora of photo ops or if you'd prefer to just go into the exhibit and relax then you're free to do that too (no pressure). I do like how there were staff available to take your picture inside the Ford Model T or the large paint can (just pass the gift shop)... that way you're not trying to get awkward selfies and missing the mark (lol). There's also a quaint cafe/bar area and you can even grab a beer and enjoy it in the exhibit. Now to the nitty gritty of it all... I purchased my ticket back in March and I appreciated having the flex option of arriving 2 hours before/after my ticketed time (kudos because life and lazy days happen). However, the immersive exhibit is just shy of 30 minutes long. It's dope, believe me, but it's a quick experience so it leaves you wanting to see more. To be fair, if you walk in towards the end of the immersive experience, you can just stay seated and enjoy it again. There are benches, chairs and folding stools to sit and enjoy it (also there are some empty circles if you'd like to sit on the floor or on the Van Gogh cushions that are included with VIP tickets). There's no assigned seating so get in where you fit and you may even make a friend. Overall, I enjoyed it. The artwork is captivating and if you're wanting a little piece of it in your home then you can browse the gift shop. I grabbed a puzzle for my grandma, so just browse and you may find something. This was a good therapeutic experience. The ambience is well established with huge digital walls playing Van Gogh's famous artwork in loop with apt background music. The show runtime is about 35 mins and you can sit there for multiple shows if you would like. The seating is appropriately placed with social distancing in mind, and it's a huge space for lots of ppl to fit in and enjoy the experience. There are different ticket options (VIP, FLEX timed, BASIC timed) with different ways to enjoy the place. BASIC timed gives you pretty good value for money. Children under 6 are free. Lots of merchandise, food and drink options around the venue with live music. So you can have a good time! read more

I really don't know where to begin, to do this justice. Therefore, I'm going to include the email I sent to the show coordinator, Danny Knaub. The show has been extended again until Oct 31. If you get the chance, please go. You don't have to fight the uptown traffic and free parking is ample and right across the street. Plan on spending about 3 hours there. Not because of crowds or lines, but because it is THAT good. I took tons of pictures and videos but I'm not including them because you need to witness it for yourself. Good Morning, My sister, Debbie, treated us to this show to celebrate my retirement. We went yesterday with Flex 1:00 tickets and we both agreed, that even though we had been REALLY excited, it was even better than anticipated. We sat there in awe, we moved around and watched the loop probably 5-6 times. Your show inspired me to read more about his life. I looked up his paintings and was further impressed by the loop. I cannot begin to imagine the work it took, to not only do justice to his works of art, but to create such a beautiful and thought provoking exhibit. The music, the lighting, the seat arrangement- all of it was just so... enthralling! There are too many adjectives to list, so I'll stop there. All of the staff are making you proud. The gentleman at the entrance, that pointed out bathrooms, explained the exhibit layout and show process was so nice and informative. The personnel inside the show were very gracious, the seating was ample and we stayed cool throughout. The cafe and gift shop workers were also very nice and helpful. Just like a lot of reviews, I purchased tix a while ago during the pandemic. But, to the contrary, I've never heard of this exhibit! I purchased a ticket that had a 2 hr flex arrival. Parking was easy and we had no trouble finding entry. Since the usually empty warehouse was used, there were plenty of mobile air conditioning units to keep the temperature comfortable. The visual exhibit is on a rolling repeat. We arrived halfway during a steaming. So we watched 1.5xs. Afterwards, we took a few pics at different murals and browsed the gift shop. On display here in Charlotte from June 17 through September 12, 2021, the Immersive Van Gogh is a deep dive into the artist's works, including sunny landscapes and portraits and night scenes and still life paintings. Interesting concept but we left very disappointed. **This exhibit is overrated, as the online advertisements are truly misleading---The Charlotte exhibit does NOT feature two-story, floor-to-ceiling 3D art (this is found only in the New York & Chicago Van Gogh Immersive exhibits). ***. Was hoping for a truly interactive experience as well as extensive history of Vincent Van Gogh (especially for the price of the tickets!). The exhibit is housed in the old Ford warehouse building and only takes approximately 30 minutes to watch---in one large room. The warehouse was hot, humid and uncomfortable inside. Seating is limited at times; when we initially arrived, we had to wait 30 minutes for the next show to begin (for available chairs). There are plenty of backdrops (including a life size figure of a paint tubes) for photo opportunities. The panoramic, digital presentation of Van Gogh masterpieces comes to life with a soundtrack featuring works by Handel and Edith Piaf. There is a featured gift shop in the warehouse but the items offered are poor quality, made-in-China plastic umbrellas, printed socks, and magnets. This super cool art exhibit in camp north end , the new artsy district in Charlotte, was pretty cool. In sort of a warehouse, free parking and plentiful! Lots of different sunflowers everywhere where you could take fabulous pictures, big fans blowing as there was no AC in this building! I warn you it was hot ! Waited in a short line to enter a huge room where you sit on the floor with a cushion provided at check in, or a bench, all socially distanced. They were all out of cushions when we got there so they gave us a coupon for a free drink of our choice, win for us ! We got a bench to sit on and watch this spectacular showing of Van Gogh's life in pictures. The floor, walls and ceiling were transformed into works of art. So neat and you get pretty immersed into his life . All his classics and pieces I hadn't seen before. Beautifully presented in a about a 45 minute show. Then you exit into the gift shop area, and artists in residence section, where real life artists display their pieces of art. Some nice unique pieces here . Gift shop had some cool stuff too. Then onto the bar to use our freebie drink coupon! They let us have a pick of anything, So we celebrated Van Gogh with some bubbly Really cool way to spend a Sunday afternoon. This was a fun experience! If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, definitely check this out! I do agree with the other reviews in stating that the show its self was pretty short- I was left wanting more. It got packed pretty quickly in the room so it was hard to get an immersive view of what was going on..I kind of wish they stopped letting people in 5 minutes after the show started. There were plenty of photo ops, which I'm sure everyone can appreciate! The staff were also willing to take group pictures and were helpful any time we asked questions. The saving grace to the show being so short was that the exhibit was located in Camp North End! I personally had never been here before, so it was exciting to walk around admiring the graffiti art and browsing the plant shops. There were lots of restaurants to choose from as well. Overall- I would recommend experiencing the Van Gogh exhibit and spending the afternoon in Camp North End. :) read more

I personally had a wonderful time! I got the basic timed, which is the cheapest ticket that allows you to come 20 minutes before or after your scheduled time. I got to Camp North End early and hung out and went on time. The staff was very friendly and helped us find a seat in the showroom. I know they sell the chair cushions online but don't think it's needed. The chairs weren't too uncomfortable. They spaced out the chairs for social distancing and the artwork was displayed on the walls in the entire showroom. The show lasted 30 minutes or so. You can stay for multiple if you want! They do have a gift shop. They also had local artists that they actively painting so that's as cool. For a one time experience for $60, I thought it was worth it! Must see! From start to finish it was a fabulous event. Entering the venue, you see many fabulous murals and sculptures that line the walkway to the event. When you turn the corner, you enter a massive space that includes a bar and seating area, resident artists, and a large gift shop. The event itself was a large room with nooks and crannies. Every wall space was covered with screens. There are benches, chairs or floor areas for you to sit in. It is a continuous showing so you can get up and move around to see different things. I recommend watching it all the way through and then moving 1-2 more times. We got the middle priced tickets for around $60 because that was all that was left at the time. It gave you flexible entrance time, a poster and ability to rent seat cushions. I would rather forgo the poster for cheaper ticket price. One thing to know is the warehouse it is in does not have central air. So they have various A/C units. But there were several areas where it was sweltering. Dress to stay cool if you go. Great way to experience art in a fresh way! This immersive experience without the stuffiness of an art museum in Amsterdam was refreshing. Very few rules and fantastic use of an old Ford factory. Relaxing, fun and enjoyable. Great blending of the art into a calming visual experience with music. Cooling and old factory without AC is challenging but the hosts did a good job with portable units. The way the experience is set up it is easy to naturally social distance. It is also good for those who are walking impaired. Wheelchairs or other mobility assists work well for viewing this experience which is all on one level and much of the experience is enjoyed sitting down. Gogh and enjoy the experience. This review is the definition of just OK. This experience was no where near worth the $65 I spent on one ticket. There is no air conditioning in the building so it is stuffy. There are fans but they do just an OK job. The show itself is cool but it's all in one room. If I had known what to anticipate I wouldn't have spent more than $20 on this. Also I love how many people are buying the sunflowers, man they're making a killing off these people. The other thing that was not cool was that they don't send you your ticket until 7 days prior to the event! So good luck trying to sell it. Lastly I felt like the room was not dark enough. You sit in a hot room on uncomfortable chairs or the ground and you watch a video of some of his artwork (not even some of his most famous ones) and 30mins later, its over. $60/person $130 for 2 people. And I really thought Charlotte or NC in general was going to be getting something really cool.... Finally had the opportunity to see this beautiful exhibit. It was something I'd never experienced before bringing together the use of modern technology and paintings to really bring the art to life. The artwork literally plays out like a movie, with the use of perfectly executed transitioning, music and lights. I received a basic package and watched the show twice! There were also artwork based installations throughout the museum to take pictures. I enjoyed the exhibit. It was a mash up of Van Gogh's art with movement set to music. I thought it was nicely done. It was displayed along the perimeter of the room so you can watch from different vantage points. The location was easy to get to with ample parking. My time slot was at 9am so it wasn't as crowded. You can arrive at least 20 minutes before your arrival time, and I did just that. The program was playing when I came so I got to see it extra early. But you can stay as long as you want to watch reruns. The program lasts a half hour. There are circles on the floor to indicate where you can sit to enforce social distancing. The gift area was plentiful. They had everything you could think of-posters, apparel, books, even wine tumblers. Nice. I purchased the VIP ticket for $99. You get a poster, seat cushion, an artificial sunflower and a pass so you can leave and re-enter the exhibit. read more

The music was so uncomfortably LOUD that it made it impossible for us to focus and enjoy the art. When asked if the music has to be so loud, I was just handed some ear plugs. Ridiculous! This was by far and above the most over-priced disappointment I've experienced. Forty minutes on a hard wooden bench watching disembodied art work scroll across massive screens while classical music played at full volume. I was a bit disappointed after hearing the rave reviews in much of the media. I've been to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam and seen his work in Musee D'Orsay in France and I was looking forward to being Immersed in the work accompanied my excellent music. Unfortunately this experience was apparently put together by a bunch of geeks impressed with what they could do with image manipulation directe by someone with a short attention span. Most of the images were displayed for only a few seconds before being digitally manipulated in sometimes inventive and often bizarre ways. The music was mostly excellent with a few thankfully brief exceptions but was played far too loud to be an accompaniment to what would be an opportunity to be immersed in the art of the immortal Vincent. Of course just my luck the fire alarm went off in the middle of our session and we had to wait outside in the heat until the FD came and checked it out. Seats were uncomfortable, no backs for us old folks. read more

Great experience but short duration. The entire experience is about 30 minutes. You can sit there and watch it multiple times. As usual you exit to the gift store which has a lot of choose from. Overall, it's a little expensive but worth it. read more

Had a great time here for my ladies birthday celebration. Little details is what made the experience 1 of a kind. The staff was friendly and helpful. And yes they even serve alchohol for a resonsable price. Not to mention all of the picture taking opportunities. We however did go to the Statesville location. Well ventilated and sounds better then some old Ford factory. Had a great time! read more

Ok so it's not New York with the two story pictorial- I have to say I was NOT disappointed. Nor was my family. It's pricey but I'll say was worth the price. Also we went on a Friday after lunch (as opposed to a Saturday) so although there were plenty of people there, it did not feel crowded (and plenty social distancing) and with the constant turnover of the crowd there were plenty of benches and several different alcoves from which to view. If you can part with a fair chunk of cash for the admission it's a truly unique and enjoyable experience. My family loved it! read more

This is an interesting exhibit, but definitely leans more towards a rip off than a good experience. Once you cover fees and ticket price, you have paid almost $50.00 for a 35 minute show. I wish I had known more about it, because the max I would have paid for this is $25.00. We kept wondering, "how are the reviews so good? how could Timeout magazine give such a positive review?" and all we can come up with is after a year and a half of being shut in, just getting out for something excites people. I am a huge Van Gogh fan, we travel to see his paintings in different exhibits and this just really disappointed me and my friends. It is not terrible, it is entertaining, just for the price I can't believe that was all it was. It had a huge gift shop that was so expensive, it made me sick. They were selling tiny pins for $13.00 each and a notebook for $40.00. I got home and bought identical items for $4.00 for a set of four pins and $9.00 for a notebook online. read more

The exhibit was nice but it's forgettable for the cost. We spent $100 in tickets and were there less than an hour. It's one big room where you watch the display on the walls, it lasts maybe 15-20 minutes, the credits roll, and the loop restarts. Beyond that is an exasperatingly overpriced gift shop and a dining area. The experience was very well made and hats off to the designers, but $50 a ticket for just this was way too much. There is not AT ALL enough exhibit to justify this price. read more

I suppose I'd you had never had any experience with Van Gogh or fine art, this would be an experience...but for us, BORING! We are Dutch, we have Van Godh prints, been to France to see where he lived and worked, it's more about some unrelated music and someone's vision of Van Gogh. Immersive no. It was interesting and quite enjoyable as a couple event. The gift shop has many things made by local artists and businesses which was also nice. The tickrt price felt a bit high for what it was though as well was discouraging to spending more in the gift shop. read more

It was okay, but very pricy. I bought 4 premium tickets (I needed some flexibility with times) and also lunch for 4 at the food court area. Ended up in well over $300. Enjoyed my time with my friends, but would probably choose to spend that $ differently if I had it to do again. read more
