Pretty interesting experience if you're into art! I think they did Van Gogh justice with the way it was presented with the music. The length of the "show" is about 40 minutes and replays on a loop just in case you miss the start like we did. It didn't seem to mess up any story arriving 15 minutes late. Visited on a week night. It was one of a kind experience. I have always been fascinated with Van Gogh's artwork. I was worried that this exhibit might be over the top and gaudy. But it turned out to be a treat! Must experience it in person to appreciate it. Definitely recommend! read more

I paid close to $60 for about 30 minutes of observing interesting visual effects which made Van Gogh paintings come to life. However I had to stay and watch it twice. Once wasn't enough it went by way too quickly. I wasn't too impressed with the show for 5 stars. I expected way more than this so no 4 stars either. It was just very average to me maybe because I've been so tainted by other incredible shows which were more stimulating. Or ....because I wasn't on any psychedelics during it LOL! 3.5 leaning towards 4 stars... thanks to my Yelp friends and doing homework ahead of time we had a closer to 4-star experience. Background: Vincent Van Gough was one of the greatest artists of all time who produced over 2,000 works in his much too short lifetime. His most famous works included Starry Night and the Sunflowers, both worth around $85-100 million! Immersive Van Gough is designed and conceived by Massimilano Siccardi who was the director and videomaker at Carrieres de Lumieres - Atelier des Lumieres. The immersive experience creates the organic landscape of Van Gough's imagination that allows the audience to ride the roller coaster of Van Gough's brilliance and madness. Artistically I loved the experience as the set up was well designed with a tunnel entrance that leads to a gallery then to the "immersive show" that features 360 degree projection around a near 10,000 SF room with dramatic music that lasted around half an hour. The immersive show continues on a loop so my wife, my baby daughter and I got to enjoy the show twice at different vantage points. I really recommend everyone to do that. Both times the show gave me goose bumps! Keep in mind I was an artsy fartsy guy that once served as TA for a college art history class. For all the negative reviews out there, I totally get it. If the art experience was 5 stars then the value of the experience had to be around a 2-3 stars. The average ticket price was $55! I got lucky as the sponsors gave me 3 VIP tickets for the show on Valentine's Day. I think the ticket should be around $20-30 and the developer should focus on generating the revenue through concession and accessories. Just look at how movie theaters do it- they generate over 50% of their revenue from concession. I actually found their accessories kind of cool- especially the teddy bears with art printed on its surface. Given that we visited on Valentine's Day, it was proper for me to get my Valentines the teddy bears. If the concession stand messed up on the pricing of foods and drinks I thought the souvenir store was alright on the pricing of the merchandise. And yes do park on the metered parking along the street. Given it was Valentine's Day late morning and street sweeping day on one side of the street we were fortunate to find parking about a block away. In conclusion, I do recommend the show, especially for couples on a romantic date. After all the breathtaking images of Van Gough's imaginations do bring the excitement every couple looks for on a date. lol read more

We came here on a special day and were able to find street parking nearby. The wait was fairly short and we were able to have the full experience right away. It was interesting to learn more about Vincent van Gogh; what a tragic story for this artistic genius. The pieces were phenomenal and the inscriptions that described each piece were very informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the colorful and mesmerizing immersive show. This contained his work along with music that corresponded to the various pieces. We enjoyed it so much that we took a seat and became fully immersed in the presentation. We continued into other rooms and walking through each one helped us realize that this was truly an unforgettable experience. If other similar experiences open up in LA, we would be so down to check them out because we loved this one so much. We got a lanyard at the end and continued to talk about how magical the visit was on the way home! read more

Starting with the positives: beautiful artwork done by the legend Van Gogh! It was displayed all around you in an immersive experience that enveloped you into the moment. I also like that they required proof of vaccination or negative test for entrance to create a safer experience. For improvement: I think that the price point is a little too high for what it is. It was really incredible ti see his artwork in that way but $50 is a hefty price for a 35 minute show. Also, some of the sounds could be a bit jarring, especially for sensitive ears like mine. Get immersed! I think the best part of this was the very beginning, when you walk through the framed hallway and into the area with the information about Van Gogh & the snack bar. Nice backdrops for selfies & IG. I bought 2 tickets on a BO-GOGH promotion. $79.98 for two tickets - $40.00 (BOGO) +$13.98 Fees = $53.96. My husband didn't know what the event was and at the end said there wasn't any art on display. I told him it wasn't a museum, but a different type of way to see images of Van Gogh's works. There's a warning sign when you enter the area where the video plays. I think it's about flashing lights and stuff to be aware of. There are two rooms which play the same video loop as well as the balcony. We watched twice. Once on the ground floor and once on the balcony. There's a wall up there where the same video is played. You get a different perspective looking down on the exhibit. There are lit circles for people to sit or stand in. Some have benches, some are empty. The downside to the video playing in a loop is that when you walk in and it's already playing. We didn't know that until we watched it the second time through to see what we might have missed. The good thing is that the staff doesn't kick you out, you could stay there through several loops, if you so desired to. I got to see the Irises and the Starry Night ... the two main works I really like! I love Irises and was so happy this was featured. Starry Night is such a famous piece of art and multitudes of people have seen it! The Sunflowers were also represented, but the music was eerie rather than light & bright. Kind of odd. Some of the music was good! It would have been cool to use one room and install super enlarged replicates of his art on the walls. I think it would be a great addition and more impressive and immersive. I did enjoy the video, it was interesting. This building is the old Amoeba Music store. Glad it has been converted into a usable space again, if even just for a short while. There is parking on the side streets. Yes, this WAS a 5 star event, but it would have been 5 star experience without the additional cost of the VIP Experience I purchased for niece and myself. I did get the BOGO free VIP experience plus fees, and that made me feel better ($113 versus $226). We were each given a seat cushion, poster, and lanyard for the VIP price, and they were nice, but I'm not sure they were worth the extra cost or that we really needed them after the event. On 12/28/21, Husband dropped us off at the venue, on his way to the Petersen Museum. Our VIP line was a little longer than general admission. It went quickly, considering the checks of vaccination status & bags. Masks were mandated, which we appreciated. The exhibit was on one floor, in two huge rooms (same in each room), with one room having a staircase to a bridge for another vantage point. The immersive 35 minute video was on a continuous loop in these rooms. Circles drawn on the floors kept groups 6 feet apart. Some circles had benches, and others had fold up chairs. Not sure where the chairs came from. We were surrounded by Van Gogh's work, morphing from early to later years. Music was pleasant, and seemed familiar. We entered around the last 10 minutes of the show, sitting on our cushions on the floor in a circle by the back wall. Then we found a bench in a circle, in the middle of the walls, for the complete 35 minute show. This show was different from Van Gogh Alive, which Husband and I saw at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL, in March 2021. Both events were exceptional, but I preferred ALIVE as it featured visual excerpts on the walls from Van Gogh's letters. I seem to remember it including more of his art, too. A VIP room was available to enjoy purchased refreshments, but we were full from lunch, so we did not go in. It was not accessible after the event. Bathrooms here were up enough stairs to leave me winded (asthma). They were clean and stocked. On the way out, we walked through the gift shop which had a bountiful array of gifts and souvenirs - something for everyone. We were given our souvenir posters as we left. The Immersive Van Gogh exhibit is not the most amazing or mind-blowing thing out there, but it is a fun and unique experience worth having. If you go into this without your expectations set too high, you will probably have a good time. Essentially, a 35-minute presentation repeats moving imagery of various portions of Van Gogh's more famous works on the walls and floor. There is a smaller room and a larger room, and a small upstairs area to view things from different angles. There are also mirrored pillars which add reflections to the images on the walls. We ended up staying for about two cycles, to see how things looked from different perspectives. And it did look different! If you go, move around, up close, up high, far away, etc. We could have stayed longer, there's no time limit. The imagery is set to different sounds and sometimes voices or music. A lot of it is quite unique and if you appreciate Van Gogh's style, very beautiful. They did a pretty good job making something original out of famous things a lot of people are familiar with. There are lighted rings on the floor where you can sit, to help people keep socially distanced. There are some benches and chairs scattered around, but not too many. If you don't pay extra for a cushion, things could get a bit uncomfortable. The experience is also a bit on the pricey side, so that is also something to consider. Overall, this can be an excellent thing to do on a date, either before or after dinner. It's also worth visiting if you have the ability to do so. Four stars for being pretty cool! read more

Lovely and unique experience. Being immersed in Van Gogh's art through projections to animate and bring them to life. Gorgeous colors! Beautiful soundtrack too. It's not really an experience where you get to walk around and be at your own pace. You need to hunker down and find a place to sit and watch, like a movie experience. Plenty of benches and floor space to sit on, marked in circles so you can have your own space and socially distance. Chairs were provided to people who needed them too. Very spacious venue. Masks required and Covid protocols in place. I felt safe attending. There were more people there than I anticipated though. It's a full event so be prepared to wait in line outside, unless you have a VIP ticket. They have bathrooms in their parking lot in case you need them before going inside. They have restroom inside as well, but I thought it was very considerate to have them outside too. They have a parking lot but I found a meter on the street. I paid $3 for 2 hours. Very friendly staff. They are all over to help and provide instructions. There are different tiers/levels of tickets with different prices, peak and off peak times, ranging from around $40 to $100 (tickets for kids are less). Major dissapointment. Social media ads for this exhibit kept popping up, so we decided to check it out and experience something new. We were fooled by the words "breathtaking" and "unforgettable." Turns out that it was only immersive and that's about it. We bought tickets for 8pm, so that's when I was expecting the art showing to start. However, that wasn't the case. When we got there, it was halfway through the show and we didn't know what was going on. Finally that show ended, and another one soon started. Eventually we realized that it was the same thing being played again. The show was not even 30 minutes long. I thought it would last an hour because we were given a one hour time slot. Nothing was explained and it felt disorganized. Most people were sitting on the floor. There were people coming in and leaving throughout the whole thing, which confused us. Why did people keep walking out in the middle of the showing? Now we understand... This definitely degraded the experience. It was a complete waste of $40 per ticket plus booking fees in addition to parking costs. Some tickets even go up to $70. If you upgrade the tickets, you get a cushion rental, which I don't understand why it's even needed since the showing is so short. After you exit the exhibit, you'll be in the gift shop. I looked around, hoping to find something I might want as a souvenior, but did not end up finding anything. Most items were overpriced. An interesting way to look at the Van Goghs exhibit. First, when you arrive you have to park in a parking lot and then walk outside towards the street side and then you scan your QR code, and then later you will get these VIP lanyards. Also, you will get these seat covers and posters for the VIP package. The exhibit itself is like walking through a movie set of some sort and the art is on the walls. It was quite crowded when I went here at night time but it is played with sound and music as well. At the end of the exhibit, you will get your poster and also there is a shop to buy other items of art! Overall I thought it was fun but I wouldn't say this is a must if you have already seen Van Goghs art somewhere else. To me, the music was a little bit too loud and the chairs that did have were all full. So some people did sit on the floor with the seat cushions but I thought that was kind of dirty to do while being in a pandemic. It was nice to see the projection show, but the fact that it was only about 20 minutes long and one giant area (plus the cafe/entry area and the gift shop), it's not worth the current price. I would say that it is worth its early bird price and nothing more. I got the flex tickets which allowed me to go in up to 2 hours before or after my chosen time. The line outside moved really quickly. We started at the corner opposite the same wall as the entrance and we made it to the front within a couple minutes. They scan your tickets outside and then they check your bags as soon as you step inside. The entry leads to a really nice framed hallway that is good for silhouette photos. Then you get to the cafe that offers some (overpriced) food and drinks that you can only consume in their table area. There are some pretty moments in this room here and there, and right before you get into the main part of the experience there's a very brief history of Van Gogh's life through the 4 seasons. Before coming here I highly recommend just reading through Van Gogh's life, just so you know the story behind the show. I feel like that would make it much more powerful, otherwise you're basically just going to be watching a bunch of moving pictures of Van Gogh's paintings. I do wish that they had more things to read about his life in that cafe area instead of just those 4 panels of the 4 seasons, because not a lot of people are going to do this homework assignment. There are basically 3 different rooms where you can watch the show: The first one you walk into where you can just stand around, the second one with seating and circles that mark distances 6' apart, and the third one is the upper level where you can look down at the first level and also see the show at a much smaller scale. The show itself was cool and entertaining, although there were some parts where the music was a bit loud and made me cringe. As a whole I did think that it did a nice job of capturing his life in a short presentation. I have no idea how it's supposed to be "immersive", other than the fact that the projector is shining down onto you. There was a lot of choppiness within the animations and it kind of took me out of the experience and it turned into a game of how many mistakes I could find in the projection. Once I saw the stock videos I made another game of how many more stock videos were used. I stayed there for about 2 and a half showings. I walked in halfway through one showing, was on the lower level for the next full showing, and then went to the upper level for the showing after that. For the whole trip I probably spent about an hour and a half in there. Like I said it really was a cool experience, however definitely not worth the amount that I paid. If you were fortunate enough to have gotten the early bird ticket, then it'd be worth it. Otherwise, I'd say to save your money for the next pop up. read more

Gosh I wanted to love this! My Mom invited me and I was really excited. I took my son to The Atelier des Lumières in Paris and we thought it was incredible. I felt this immersive fell way short of our Paris experience but obviously it's two separate shows/companies etc. The music and film are 5 STAR, the space is not great in my opinion. It didn't feel very "immersive" - maybe we should have had more sake at sugarfish before entering. The exit signs, doors, and entire lay out just felt like I was seeing every nook and cranny that should be covered or not visible in an immersive. The views seemed better from the second floor. I'm sure I was being highly skeptical since this wasn't my first experience and I've seen much better. I tried my darndest to scale back from that train of thought and just enjoy what this was. It's Hollywood so you have a majority of people just taking pictures and videos of themselves which is always annoying. I'll say, although I don't follow this exhibit online - you'd definitely need to film/shoot it at a certain angle to even make it look good, what you get in person is not what you see on-line I can bet on that. The film with the paintings brought to life is a ton of fun, it's actually quite stunning. I'm not the biggest Van Gough fan but I did learn of a new piece that may be my favorite now. Smoking Skelton! Ummm, gosh was I living under a rock?? How did I not even know this existed. It was fun to hang with my Mom in a semi Zen space with the lighting music etc. but all in all this did not compare to my first experience in Paris which included Klimt that I favor over Van Gough. I thought the Ear at the snack bar was super clever, they were sold out and it turns out it was a lollipop or something. I think if you could make an ear mold and turn it into a cupcake or something that'd be great - either way it was clever! Honestly, way over priced for what it offers. The framed hallway was very impressive at the beginning, then it goes downhill from there. After you emerge from the hallway, there's a lounge/bar area with snacks/drinks; this area is pretty cool as you get to read about Van Gogh's life. Then there's the entrance gallery where there's three rooms (one is upstairs) showing the same video or "immersive video." At one point, two projectors didn't work so yeah... I mean there's a lot of people that seemed to enjoy this experience, but IMO I just don't think it's worth the price paid. read more

The Los Angeles version is dubbed the largest of the immersive Van Gogh presentations in the world. The second room has little single cubes to sit on but the floor can be utilized as well. I recommend wandering to the upstairs area - it looks like it's VIP but it's not. At the end of the exhibit, we turned in our pillows and received a Van Gogh poster. And, much like Disneyland after a ride, you are deposited into the Gift Shop where items are interesting but again, pricey. Vincent art face masks were $19.99! The only room we didn't see appeared to be a Green Fairy Room based on Vincent's habit of imbibing Absinthe, which gave him hallucinations. Perhaps this was part of the $99 ticket? We arrived on a Sunday with the Hollywood Farmers' Market in full force or else I'd have looked harder for metered street parking. As it was, we parked in the old Amoeba building's parking lot, thinking we'd get a break on the fee- NOPE! It was $14. Overall, it was a unique experience but too pricey with a $60 per ticket price tag... P.S. and they are doing Immersive Van Gogh YOGA now...!!! read more

Purchased some last minute tickets for the 6 pm showing on Monday night for $39 each. We didn't know what to expect but enjoyed ourselves overall. The beginning of the exhibit takes you down a tunnel, culminating in one of Van Gogh's works brought to life. This opens up into an area with more Instagram worthy shots, including a sunflower themed bar at the center. Because it was Monday they were only selling non-alcoholic beverages (which disappointed us a little!). This was the vibe and feel that we were expecting for the rest of the exhibit, but we were mistaken. Instead what ensued was a 35 minute film of Van Gogh's works animated to music, projected 360 degrees across multiple rooms. While the film was moving, I was surprised when we left the main room, thinking there was more to the exhibit, only to end up in the gift shop. For $25 I would have been more than satisfied, but for $39 I was left wanting more. I can only imagine what others who paid more thought of the experience. Social Media definitely makes this seem way cooler than it actually is. TLDR; The whole "experience" is just a 30min video projected onto the wall It's a super short experience, maybe 30-45min. You go in, there's a "bar" where you can way overpay for canned Wine or poorly mixed cocktails. I highly suggest you just hit one of the bars on Sunset after the exhibit instead. The actual experience is just this big room where everyone is sitting on the floor or one of few benches and there is a video projected on the walls and floor. The video itself is ok but it kind of just reminds me of the random free "movies" you can go in and watch if you are a museum or whatnot. The video is around 30 minutes and that's it! You go to the exit where they have a gift shop selling pretty much anything and everything from yoga mats to cups all plastered with Van Gogh's artwork. Here are the details: Parking- the lot that was listed as a suggestion was full by 11am on a Tuesday so we found street parking maybe half a mile away that only cost $2 for 2 hours Exhibit- we enjoyed the visuals of seeing the images on the screens on all the walls around the room and the floors; the visuals had motion and in my opinion great musical accompaniment; we stayed for just about an hour and watched the video presentation two times since it lasts less than 30 minutes; there are circles for each group to occupy so I liked the space that provided which added to the enjoyment; we purchased tickets that included cushions to sit on the floor and a poster with each ticket purchase; we took it in from 3 different circles in different areas of the large room...there are also stair to view things from a higher perspective but we didn't go up Price- it was overpriced for what it was and I could see someone giving this a lower rating based on the high price but I really don't get why there are so many one star reviews... read more

THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Definitely a must!! I could've sat there all day and still not have had enough. The digitalized art projects on all walls and there is music that plays with it so perfectly there are no ways I can explain it, you just have to experience it! First walking into the exhibit you enter a room where you can read about the artist and see some of his letters. You are given a butt cushion (that you need to return) and also a last chance to use the restroom before entering the actual exhibit. There are two rooms, a smaller one when you first walk in with mirrors and a second room that's bigger and has a small upstairs area. We were mostly in the first room and this rooms has a few pulled that have mirrors and they also have a small mirror exhibit making your experience even cooler. The second room is bigger and has circles projected on the floor so as to show where people should sit/stand to be socially distant. The digitalized program that projects on all walls but also the floor in this room. I personally liked the first room because there was more freedom to sit where you'd like. However when we walked to the second room and upstairs, that was he best view in the exhibit. It is smaller but you are right in front of the art show and don't have to worry about many people around. Then you can also look down over the second room if you'd like. As you exit you go to the gift shop and there are so many things you can buy. The only thing I wished was that they took our cushions before the gift shop... it was awkward to shop with a v cushion the whole time. Once you turn in your cushion you got a Van Gogh poster so it was worth it to hang on to that. read more

How about Immersive Van Dough: Inside the world of Reggie Van Dough, nemesis to Richie Rich? Well, until that exhibit comes to town, Van Gogh will have to do. Located in the old Amoeba Records building next to the (now shuttered) Dome Theatre on Sunset Boulevard, Van Gogh's works have been blown up, animated and set to music. I've never seen an exhibit like this before, and I enjoyed it very much. Yelp tip: tons of two-hour parking meters out front ... use those! That's more than enough time and your grand total for parking will be $3. Don't be a fool like me and park in the Dome parking lot, thinking you will get validated by your 24 Hour Fitness gym on Level 3. Sadly, the gym departed a long time ago; Levels 3, 4 and 5 are all empty, and parking cost me $14. Inside the exhibit, there's a cafe, but you must visit it before you enter the main show. I tried to get in after viewing the main attraction, and was told "no re-entry," though I had never gotten a peek inside. Your loss, $10 cupcake (per website). The "show" itself takes place in two large rooms, one for standing and one for sitting on ottoman cubes or the floor. Van Gogh cushions that others have rented will be lying all over the place -- just grab one. The show is dazzling; I watched it twice from two different vantage points. A hit! OVERPRICED. SMALL. It's hard to even rate this experience based on the price I paid ($69/person). Now if this was for $30 then I may have a different opinion. Also, as someone who has been to the Van Gogh museum in Holland with actual art pieces, you can't even compare the two, because this is truly a different experience. I for sure thought there would be multiple rooms to view this show. Nope. Just ONE big room with ottoman type chairs and other circles drawn on the floor for you to sit down on your pillow in. The Van Gogh cushion is extra $$$. The show itself is beautiful. Loved some scenes and the music that goes with it is great. It was a relaxing and eye opening experience. The show is about 30 mins and then it loops again. It seems like you can stay there for as long as you want and watch it again if you missed some parts. Or wait till more people leave and snag the ideal seat you want. The gift shop is WAYYYYYY overpriced. Maybe because they had to bring these all overseas from Holland!? LOL jk. My friend saw a nice Van Gogh hard cover book in the store for $50. We found the same book on Amazon new for $18. So save yourself some money when it comes to buying these gifts. The smallest magnets you've seen are $12! LOL. I would recommend this experience to those that have money to blow and are looking for an LA activity that takes an hour or so. Also, we had to keep our masks on so if you are worried about your pictures not looking the best, then this is probably not the best activity for you. First, this is for people who love art, and specifically Van Gogh. It's not a review of his life and works. This is an immersive evolution of his art. This is not a waste of money or a waste of time. If you love art and love Van Gogh, this is a remarkable experience. If you are on a budget or think you'll understand VG after this, you will be unhappy. So don't go. When you enter you see a few parts of his first major work: The Potato Eaters. The next hallway culminates with a 3D Starry Night. You're then in a staging area where you can get something to snack on or drink and view smaller exhibits. If you did the VIP ticket, which I recommend, there is a place for you to relax for a few minutes in a room enveloped in green light: a throwback to the "green fairy" of absinthe lore. The other thing the VIPs get is a Van Gogh butt pad to make sitting easier. When you enter there are two rooms. They are both showing the same thing at the same time. Bypass the first smaller room and go to the show. The main room has socially distanced circles that you can stand or sit in. There are circles with benches installed. There are also some chairs. Unless your young and still want to sit on the ground, I wouldn't. The VG butt pads help a little. The show is an appx 50 minute loop of several segments of Van Gogh's career. The paintings blend into each other, with music accompanying the process. The visuals are in all 4 walls and the floor. It is truly immersive. And if you like VVG it's beautiful. His use of color and bold brush strokes evoke movement, which this installation realizes. The transition between works and periods is amazing. It culminates in the artist's death and masterwork, which is moving and stunning. My wife and I loved it. Some people felt ripped off because it's less than an hour. I've been to the VG museum in Amsterdam, and seen his works in the Musee D'orcey (sp?), The Met, Lacma, and the Getty. I've seen his paintings. But now I've experienced his life as an artist. I understand the overall low rating by other Yelpers. It's the PRICE. The cost-benefit analysis says this is expensive. But what you get out of this immersive activity is the EXPERIENCE. The exhibit did a fantastic job putting the 25 minutes video together. It represents each season of Van Gogh's work. It is beautifully put together with emotional music that grabs the audience's attention. What I liked about the exhibit: Social distancing is enforced with LED circles to separate the groups. The projectile plays in 360 degrees, so there are no bad spots in the room. Kids will enjoy this, and hopefully, they will be more interested in learning about Van Gogh's life and work - Sadly, his life wasn't a happy ending. GREAT FOR DATE NIGHT. If you're going to go extra for those lobsters, why not splurge a little more on this experience. Would I come again? No, once is enough. Would I recommend this event to others? Out of every activity I did in LA, this was the least exciting I've ever paid for. There's a few walkways you go thru first, which have some art on them and you can take pictures in front of. There's a nice replica of the Hollywood sign in a Van Gogh starry night type of style, as well as a huge self portrait of Vincent himself. They have a bar, selling overpriced drinks, so we skipped on that. The entire "immersive" exhibit is a 35 minute video that loops for the entire day. There's 2 main rooms you can sit/stand in, and there's countless projectors on the ceilings, seamlessly projecting the video onto almost every single wall in the place. You will see the exact same video wherever you sit or stand. The employee at the door will tell you to stay until you reach the same exact point in the video that you entered at, so you see the entire video. That's it though. You exit to a gift shop, and that's the entire exhibit. For the price, we expected a little more from the experience, but I should've known that it's in the middle of Hollywood, and everything is expensive here. read more

My wife and I went to this immersive art event today and I have mixed feelings about it. Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend it so long as you know a few things going in. First it is that the immersive video presentation is only about 30 minutes long, but you can watch it more than once, and move around to get a different perspective. Second the paintings are broken down into different components and segments so you don't get the complete/whole picture that you can look at and examine. Third if you're thinking of going and haven't bought tickets yet do not the the VIP tickets. From what I saw all you get is a seat cushion, poster, and access to a very small lounge area if you want to buy a drink before going in. If you really want a poster the gift shop had some for $9. Now for something positive. First because of the large scale projection it's presented in you can easily see Van Gogh's wide brush strokes and generous use of paint and color Second the accompanying soundtrack used adds to the visuals you are seeing. We had a fun time at this exhibit. Although ticket prices are expensive, our kid was free - so we didn't feel as bad. We spent $3.00 on metered parking just nearby for 2 hours. Bought our tickets in Feb 2021 but they postponed our original date because they couldn't get a venue in time. Finally got rescheduled to 8/21 Saturday during peak entry. We watched the show twice. Sat on those white cushions. Good music. Now debating whether to spend $ on the Monet experience coming up. read more

This is a wonderful exhibit to see!! It was done so nicely, and quite an enjoyable experience. You sit on the floor but if you buy the premium package, it includes a cushion. There are a few chairs so you may be fortunate to end up with one. After your finished with the exhibit, you return your cushion and they give you a nice poster. Enjoyed this Immersive Exhibit. Very different from a typical gallery museum perspective. Loved that there was movement which added to the visual effects like a flickering candle for example. Sometimes it felt like the pictures went a little too fast. Also enjoyed the music which added to the entire experience. Recommend going into the larger room and grabbing a bench to sit on otherwise will have to sit on the floor or stand. You can also view from upstairs but not too much space there. Was not able to enter the parking lot in the same building because it was already full. Parked across the street which cost $22. Recommend arriving a little earlier to get premium cheaper parking. So, I won tickets for two from a work raffle. I don't know what the cost of admission is/was and I didn't ask. But I did hear from others talking - it wasn't cheap. But I won tickets for two at a work raffle - otherwise, my tone would be a little different. Not that I don't like Van Gogh, the experience just isn't what I expected. I expected the parking. After all, it's Hollywood. Pay to play. I don't remember what I paid for the few hours I was there - but at least it was convenient to the venue. I didn't have to walk blocks or deal with the cars crossing those streets on a busy Saturday night. I expected to see his works of arts but possibly in more of an interactive display learning about him or the particular piece of art. Like the back story of the piece. Or more about him. It was nice to see his art splashed onto walls via projection, then repeating it over and over. I'm not complaining - admission was free. I enjoy checking out things that people excel at that I can't do and I can say that I've been there and done that. Just know that if you drop his pieces into a PowerPoint presentation with some music, it's basically what this exhibit was, but splashed onto the walls via projection of some sort. read more

This turned out to be nothing we expected it to be. It was a huge disappointment and more of a glorified slideshow monetizing van Gogh's work on the walls. For $40/pp - we sat in socially distanced circles / benches in one room and listened to French music and instrumentals. It was not enough to make it worth the full price of admission. The overall rating for this exhibit feels pretty accurate to me. My sister's friend gifted her two tickets so my sister brought me with her, and I was glad that we didn't pay for it. The cost of these tickets was $60 each which I believe includes a flexible time of admission up to 2 hours before or after your reserved time, a seat cushion that you return at the end, and a poster to take home. For that price I expected a lot more! I was expecting multiple rooms each with different projections that you could walk through, which is what my friend said she experienced at the exhibit in Europe. I thought it would be a lot more interactive and expansive. It essentially feels like a money grab as you enter at a bar/drink station and exit through a gift shop. There are 2 rooms and a small balcony, all showing the same projection that lasts about 30 or 40 minutes. You sit and watch the show which is projected on all the walls and floor and that's it. I was really glad we had the cushion but I also assume you can bring your own. There are some benches for those who can't sit on the floor. It was relaxing yet underwhelming. The art was beautiful and I enjoyed the accompanying music but I felt like they could have done a lot better for the price. read more

This is a movie. A 35 minute, wordless movie. To be fair, it is interestingly projected (on the walls), and pretty to look at. There is no context regarding the art or the artist. While pleasant to look at, the viewer learns nothing about Van Gogh. We sat on the floor, as the benches were very uncomfortable. Staff was all very pleasant. It is not worth the price of admission, to me. If it was $15-20, I would have been less disappointed, but disappointed still. read more
