Signed up my daughters for a 3-hour intro class before going away to college. They seemed to find it useful & learned a lot.

He adjusted my training program and was so attentive to my goals and needs. As a mobility coach, he is very perceptive and knowledgable about how the body works and why. His teachings continue to influence me as I stretch and check in with my body throughout the day. Anyone experiencing chronic pain, or dealing with an injury or disability, I strongly recommend seeing Kewesi and learning how to increase your mobility!!!

Would recommend to anyone seeking personal training or physical therapy. Working with Kewesi to…read morerehab from chronic injuries has been life changing. I've never worked with a practitioner so singularly focused on discovering what is working with your body, what's not, and then applying a wide range of treatments and regimens to find out where your body is and what it will respond to. He can take you through workouts, mobility exercises, or put you on the table for massage and manipulation. He's like a hawk all session watching you move through exercises to determine what approach is right for that day. Attentive, thoughtful, creative, knowledgeable, sympathetic - all at superlative levels. He also provides you tools to work on healing yourself, which is really important.

Adults classes - I've tried the BJJ, kickboxing, and free self-defense classes. All have excellent…read moreinstructors and a good instructor / student ratio. The environment is helpful, friendly, and no-attitude. Warmups vary in intensity depending on class and teacher but usually are at least 15 minutes of intense exercise. This is followed by 30 minutes on a technique, and the end is drills or sparring (in advanced classes). Respect for safety and other students is enforced well. In kickboxing, you will not be allowed to spar until approved by the instructors, which means you need to know the basic techniques and show self-control. I appreciate this because this means your sparring partners will be well-behaved and courteous, not panicked and dangerous. Kids classes - the kids BJJ class is great with a very high instructor/student ratio and a lot of attention paid to partnering kids up in a productive way. There is enough firmness in the instruction that kids will try hard, but no militaristic nonsense. Fun games are used as incentives to work hard and do techniques well. The instructors have been great with accommodating different dispositions and temperaments of kids, and will work with parents to figure out a solution. Kids progress at a realistic pace and earn stripes at about the same pace as an adult class. They do also train in kickboxing once every few classes, so the kids do get some striking/kicking experience as well as grappling. Bathrooms and mats are actually clean and not scary, it's clear the owners care about hygiene and people not getting sick. If you've been to a variety of other gyms you know this is hard to find, some places seem to think grime makes you tough instead of just dirty. Only downside is the gym has only a single space so there is only one class at a time. Currently (05/26), classes run from M-Sat for adults with a single kids class on Saturdays. If you wanted to train 5x a week for competition you might want to look at another gym, but Four Elements works great for us.

I've been training at Four Elements for over eight years and cannot recommend this school enough!…read more Located right in the heart of Downtown Oakland, Four Elements is accessible via many forms of public transportation. There is also parking nearby for folks traveling by car. No matter where you're commuting from in the Bay Area, you won't have trouble accessing the gym. Karin and Mollii are knowledgeable, skilled, patient, and engaging instructors who make kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes a total blast. The broader community at Four Elements is incredibly inclusive and supportive of women, POC, and LGBTQ students. If you're looking for a martial arts school but are wary of training in toxically masculine environments, this is the gym for you. Come on by for a great workout!

This gym is the best gym I have ever been to in my life so far! I was a complete noob and beginner…read moreto combat sports, specifically Muay Thai, and was shy at first trying to get myself just to walk through the door and ask a question! When I finally did, I was greeted with one of the most welcoming and friendly gym environments! Alex and Kyle have been very kind and helpful with answering my questions since the first day I walked in. The intro class was great and I didn't feel embarrassed at all for being a complete beginner- they teach the basics, have gear to borrow, and make the whole process trying it out very smooth and chill. Since then I have been going to the Muay Thai classes as much as I can. PRS has some of the best coaches, who are legends- so you absolutely get the bang for your buck! Coach Rob and Coach Six have been great coaches, and patient with me as a beginner. I asked for any and all tips, advice, and coaching during class and if they ever see me practicing outside of class, and they've helped me out a ton! I am very bad at hand eye coordination, but with patience and practice I get better every day. Coach Michael and Coach Shallon have been extremely helpful with learning sparring techniques on Wednesdays and more about the gym as well! All the coaches for Muay Thai are great and friendly! I recently been getting into some of the Boxing and jujitsu classes as well and had the same experience- passionate, motivating, and great coaches. Coach Mark teaches the Boxing class and has awesome boxing and strength and conditioning workouts, its very motivating and make me determined to get better. Coach Alex teaches Jujitsu, and has taught me a lot about the sport- its very technical, but he is a patient and motivating coach as well, and has given me great advice and made the sport more digestible to understand as a beginner! As I get more fit, Im hoping to add in more of these classes as well:)! Not only do the coaches help me improve as an athlete, but many of the fellow athletes are kind and welcoming to beginners as well- I usually ask for any tips or comment on my tech and get good helpful feedback. They have gloves, pads, shin guards and head gear available to borrow and use, and keep all their equipment sanitized and clean- including the training floor after each class. There are plenty of bags to train on, including some by the mirrors to watch your tech. They got everything you need in a gym, including an erg, assault bike, plenty of stationary bikes, and treadmills, dumbbells, kettle bells, benches, plates and bars, jump ropes, medicine balls, and rollers for recovery. Theres plenty of space to store your things and its safe to as well, as the locker area is in the back of the gym. They have clean mens and womens bathrooms and shower for after training. They got a really awesome ring and punching bags- basically combat sport heaven is PRS. The gym community is very friendly, welcoming, diverse, and accepting of all backgrounds. Ive met so many great friends so far :)! As a LGBTQ+ individual and woman, I feel safe and accepted at this gym :) 10/10 sanitation/cleanness 10/10 equipment 10/10 Coaching and trainers 10/10 environment, safety, and community 10/10 classes
