Be very weary of Dr Mano Valderaz. He sent my prescription the the wrong pharmacy. Come to find out it was even for the wrong drug. He then went out of his way to blame the pharmacy for his mistake. The Doctor & staff @ In Focus Eye Care are superb. Our son has autism and we had been struggling to get an eye exam and glasses for him. The doctor was extremely patient and sure enough was able to exam our son without any adverse behaviors and outburst. He made it fun for him and the staff and doctor made accommodations for his needs! Super impressed! We would recommend anyone who has a special needs child and has struggled like we had to give them a try. I had some serious issues with my vision, so I called the nearest optometrist and made an appointment. I came in 15 min early to fill my paper work and waited 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment until I got fed up and left. My right eye was in bad shape, so I just went to the nearest walmart and was seen right away. "Appointment" means nothing to these people. I didn't get an exam, but I did sit in a waiting room for about an hour in pain. read more

Went in for a simple contacts exam. I've been to this office probably 3-4 times over the last few years. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Quick exam without hassles. Dr. Valderaz actually spent quite a bit if extra time listening and answering questions for me. We discussed optics and some cost saving measures in regards to contacts. You can really tell that he cares about his patients. I would have objections to recommending inFocus to someone I cared a about! read more

We have been bringing ourselves and kids here for a couple years because of their great service. The staff are very nice and personable, making us feel comfortable and valued. If I could give this place zero stars I would, unfortunately... I have to give them at least one to complete the review. Let me explain to you my reasoning behind my review. First and foremost I have been coming to this place since I was in high school, my mother and brother have been coming here as well and have experienced the same issue I am going to discuss in this review. I had a follow up appointment conducted on 06/14/17 for dry eyes and was told by the lady at the front desk who was rude and made me feel like my insurance wasn't as great as it is that I had to pay the remaining balance of $118.00 with tax it came to be $122.97 for everything that the supposedly conducted on this follow up appointment. Fast forward to about a week ago I was review my MRA account that I have with my company and saw that they covered the balance that was owed to them that same day. I contacted my insurance provider and made sure that this place received double payment and they informed me that they had already paid the claim back on 06/25/17 and I should contact the establishment for a refund of what I paid. I contacted this establishment about 2 weeks ago about my refund and the first thing the woman who answered on the phone said was "Oh yeah, I do see you have a credit on your account" in my head I'm thinking okay why wasn't I contacted about this credit but I didn't bring that issue up until today and I'll get to that as well. So they reviewed the credit I was owed and instead of receiving the full amount that I paid at the time of the appointment they stated that I would only be receiving $92.97 because a $30.00 image was not submitted on the initial claim and they have submitted a new claim to see if my insurance will cover. In my eyes their error for the submission for the claim is not my fault and I should receive a full refund for what I paid, due to my MRA already covering what was billed to them at the time of the appointment. This has been an ongoing issue that my family and I have all encountered when coming here. I explained this to Maribel, who is in charge of billing that I will be finding a new optometrist to go to due to this issue and her response was "I'm sorry to hear that" the most unprofessional and un-empathetic response I've received. I also asked Maribel why I wasn't contacted about my credit and she stated "I'm not sure, I don't know why you weren't contacted regarding the credit and the system is down to see when the credit was given to your account" I work in customer service this response is unacceptable and the way they handled this issue is also unacceptable.. Will not be returning and neither will my family members or anyone I have recommended to come here in the 10 years that I've been a customer. read more

Set an appointment. Got there 10 min early. They couldnt find my appointment. After driving 20 min, 1 way....they wanted me to stand there while they called the doctor. Nope. I left because I dont do business with companies that can't even get the 1st appointment right. I don't think they know there are many other eye doctors. Lol. They called to say the doctor could be in at 3:30. Good thing I didnt wait. That's a good 1 1/2 hours after my appointment. They must also think people don't have jobs or can just take a 2nd lunch break. I asked it the exam would be free sumcw it's now not going to be at a convenient time for me is I just spent $20 driving there, for nothing. Of course, no call back to offer me a free exam even though she said she 'wanted to make this right". Ok...pay for my gas back in & pay me for the time I'll have to take off work now. THIS is not how you treat customers that YOU rely on for a paycheck. read more

My wife, daughter, and I have been patients for several years now. Dr. Valderaz has always been pleasant and friendly to us, as well as, professional. He has been great at explaining our exams to help us understand what is going on with our eyes. The staff is always professional and friendly also. We have never had a wait time of over 15 minutes to see Dr. Valderaz, and are usually out of the chair in about the same amount of time or less. We have always had a pleasant experience and would recommend him to anyone. read more

My children bend their glasses or need adjustments and they usually can address the issue while we wait. My Family and I have used In Focus Eye Care for over 20 years. We have been satisfied until the last 2 years. I paid $400 for a pair of glass plus my insurance paid an additional portion. I took the glasses back 2 times because it appears as though i am underwater when I am wearing them. They said they "fixed" them both times but I see no changes. I have went back to wearing one of my old pair of glasses. The new ones are useless. I believe I was sold all the extra coatings that I did not need. read more

I have been coming here for most of my life going through a few different docs. The current Dr. Valderaz is polite, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I myself have next to no eye problems including no contacts or glasses. Most of my visits consist of just normal eye checkups which are smooth and easy. The wait time is generally short and I am in and out within 20 to 30 minutes usually. I have no complaints about the service as the ladies up front are polite and forthcoming. I had an appointment with them a couple of months ago. I waited 30 minutes was charged twice for my deductible and other than that the exam experience went well. I decided to go ahead and schedule the rest of my family. My daughter went in and had to deal with inexperienced, bickering, unprofessional techs. We thought ok maybe they were having a bad day. My sweetie went in this morning was 15 minutes late. They refused to see him and nor did they offer to book another appointment. What they are not aware of is my sweetie has a muscular condition that leaves him in pain constantly and movement can be very difficult. I would not recommend this business. read more

I have been going to Dr. Valderaz for quite some time now. This will definitely be my last time returning there. I went in for my appointment on time and the exam went well. After the exam was finished, I was informed by the receptionists that my insurance would not cover my eye exam, as they only cover one every two years. When one goes to a doctor's appointment, they are supposed to be informed as to whether or not their services will be covered. I was not, and was charged almost $200 for a contact lens fitting and the exam. I called to ask what their procedure was for notifying patients of insurance coverage if it is not covered and was informed that they do it as a courtesy. That tells me they did not bother to check if my insurance covered the visit. To top it all off, my prescription remained unchanged, which translates to a complete waste of time and money for this visit. read more

Absolutely horrible experience with In Focus Eyecare and Dr. Valderaz. My appointment was in mid-April, really just to update my prescription. I thought he did a fairly thorough job in the exam, but after that, his contact was zilch--despite the fact that I had continued problems with the lenses, glasses, and the prescription for dry eye. First, I had kept the frames and just needed new lenses. I asked Allen (apparently the only person qualified to do glasses) to give me the exact same lenses that I had, but with the new prescription. This meant transition and progressive lenses. I have extreme sun sensitive eyes, so I was shocked when my $400 lenses did not have transition. Next, the prescription for Restasis took four weeks to get filled because their fax and telephone lines never worked--and they would not take the time to call my pharmacy back. Finally, because of continued headaches following the eye exam, I ordered transition lenses and sun glasses. It is now June 21, and I still do not have them. The sunglasses were $449--and due to various issues such as "quality control" inspections at their lab, I still don't have them. Curiously, the initial "quality control" did not catch the fact that they had the wrong prescription in each eye lens... After missing three days work and suffering from migraines, I finally asked for a refund. the response: I need an appointment with the doctor to discuss the fact that they have a no refund policy. Miraculously, this was pulled out from behind the counter as I asked for my refund. read more

Worst experience ever! The Doctor is receiving some kind of kickback for prescribing daily wear contacts. I have been wearing weekly wear contacts for 3yrs, and he kept trying to sell me on the idea of daily wear. He informed me several times I could purchase daily wear contacts from his office. I told him no and that I wanted a prescription for my normal brand. (Thank you, cause this visit is costing me $230.00) He finally agreed, as I was paying out the front office staff still tried to get me to buy daileys only to find out they didn't have them. I then had to remind her that I wanted the printed out prescription to go elsewhere. She printed and gave the wrong prescription! Which I didn't realize till I tried ordering at another office. When I called to have it fixed they told me the doctor was gone for the day and would be back the next afternoon. I had to call THEM 5 times before the problem was fixed. It should not be so hard to get a contact lense prescription. The appointment started 20min late, the staff was incompetent, and the doctor had zero people skills. I'm writing this review to save a person time and money, but truly I don't see this office staying in business. read more

I only went here because they had an appointment available when I of course waited till the very last minute! But I loved it!!!! Yesterday I called several offices looking for an appointment for 12/31/16 and of course all said no appointment (in a your dumb for asking procrastinator, tone) or they would be closed for the NYE holiday. BUT not this office the girl who made my appt was awesome! Took my info made my appt emailed me the forms right away!! The girls in the office at 8am (working on a Holiday) were extremely pleasant!!! The nurse that assisted me was great!! She was happy to be there, pleasant during the screenings. That may sound simple but even on a regular day I don't experience such cheering happy to do their job people. Then the dr came in!! Boy was he great! Happy to do what he does!!! He was so nice! Talked about his family, told jokes. Usually it's an a few minutes awkward experience cuz you don't really know each other and other than reading the screen and talking about glasses vs contacts you get done them leave. This was the complete opposite!! When I was done, he walked me out, introduced me to Monica, the person that would help me select my frames. I had no idea what I wanted to get. I selected a few but also didn't want to spend too much outside my insurance allowance. She was helpful in explaining my options, pricing things with and with out certain things. Then I left telling her I wasn't sure but that I'd decide my end of day. She happily wrote everything we discussed down. I left went to two other stores but they were super busy so I just left. I figured that i would call In Focus back before closing! Well I had taken a nap and at 1:30 go a call from Monica asking if I wanted to place my order or if I had found something else!! I was so happy because I would have slept right through closing time and not been able to order them lost out for 2016!!!! read more
