Things were awful. I was miserable, frankly depressed, and felt like I'd made one of the biggest mistakes of my life adopting Fred. I love dogs, and thought long and hard before adopting one. Despite that, it took all I had to not send him back...something I never thought I'd consider. Three weeks in I was at my wit's end and literally about to text the foster mom who had Fred before me, just minutes before my free consultation with Tara at The Dog Wizard. Tara talked me off a ledge and told me she's dealt with extremely difficult cases like Fred before - one in particular who is now thriving today. So I gave her a chance and enrolled him in the 3 week program. She offered to keep him longer if needed without additional charge if she felt he needed it. You could tell she wanted to help him (and me) and cares deeply about the dogs she works with. Long story short, Fred spent 6 weeks there (just to show you how much help he needed)! I got Fred back today and I am absolutely shocked at the change in him. I don't want this post to get too long, but he doesn't constantly shake anymore, he'll go up to strangers and act comfortable around them, he's less anxious around other dogs, he knows and follows commands, he doesn't dart away from me all the time, and just seems so much more comfortable, confident, and relaxed overall. I honestly was prepared to still take him back to the rescue, that's how bad things were (I felt very hopeless). Not only do I not see that happening now, but I see hope for lots of bonding in our future. And Tara offers ongoing support after training - group classes, continued training, etc. I can't say enough good things about Tara and her staff at The Dog Wizard! If you're hesitating, don't! They posted photos daily - so I never felt out of touch as to what was going on. At the end of our 14 days, we had a one on one training that has prepared me to continue growing my dog's new skills. She grew like wildfire and now weighs 9.8 lbs. and the vet says she is still growing!! She was very hard to house break or to train her to do anything. She destroyed the carpets in our home, not just by peeing or pooping but by chewing them. She also has chewed corners off dressers, doors, and cabinets and still at 1 year old scratches, like a cat on evrything. (and I have scars on my legs to prove it) We even paid $1600 extra for a 2-wk. Board and Train where she spent 2 weeks in the home of one of CD's expert trainers. When we picked her up I expected her to have learned things like" stay, crate, no, down", etc. and maybe even been closer to being potty trained! All she learned was sit., & down, which she quickly forgot how to do as soon as we brought her home from the trainers. One other thing, we were under the impression we would meet the breeder. I'm not sure. but we picked her up at someone's house because she was being "fostered there until we could pick her up". DO YOU'RE RESEARCH WHEREVER YOU PURCHASE A PUPPY. She is 14 months old now and we do love her as one of the family but she is still a handful and a slow learner.

We were told that to do the bloodwork and an ultrasound would be $1300 up front, which definitely seemed high, but we did agree. When we are done, the Vet admits the ultrasound equipment not the best, and they use an Ipad. ??? They then said they would like to observe him for 24 hours for another $1500. We politely said we can monitor him. We were advised to see our regular veterinarian, where basically the same things were done today for $307. Go in knowing you are going to paying way too much and you won't have a problem. I won't be back, can't afford to go back. Had no problems with the staff or Veterinarian, just the ridiculous charges.

For the first two years of her life, we went to a different vet where we never felt a real connection. The staff seemed scared of our dog, and visits were always stressful for everyone involved. When we adopted two kittens, we decided to give Paw Prints a try because of the great reviews and their close location. From the very first visit, we knew this place was different. Our dog was incredibly anxious and wouldn't let Dr. Crowe or his staff touch her. But instead of rushing the appointment or showing frustration, Dr. Crowe sat on the floor with her for over 30 minutes, patiently working to earn her trust. That level of compassion and patience meant the world to us. Rather than jumping to sedatives (as our previous vet did), Dr. Crowe recommended the CHILL Protocol. I'll admit--I was skeptical. But today, after following the protocol, we brought our pup back in... and she was like a different dog. She was still a little nervous, but she didn't need a muzzle, didn't hide, didn't bark incessantly. She even let the vet tech give her a shot without reacting--and when Dr. Crowe came in, she barked once, then went right up to him for pets and love. This visit felt like a breakthrough. I'm not sure if it was the protocol, the incredible staff, or both, but it was night and day compared to our past experiences. We've officially moved all three of our cats and our dog to Paw Prints, and we couldn't be happier. It feels amazing to know our pets are in such good hands. Highly, highly recommend Dr. Crowe and his team. They truly care--and it shows.
