I am not sure about giving this three or four stars, but I like to help a local business. First of all, it's located in the Mallory shopping district, which can be a bit crowded. The quality of the pieces is amazing, but there just isn't that large of a selection, probably due to the size of the store. I would also like a wider range of taste reflected in the store. I stopped in this neat shop to browse while waiting for lunch on vacation. I wasn't planning on purchasing anything but came across a gorgeous Bradley and Hubbard lamp that would fit perfectly with my place...had to have it. The owner Leda was extremely nice, professional, and helpful while I shopped and with my decision to purchase the lamp. She helped arrange shipping and packaging that arrived within the week in perfect condition. Whoa, check out that building mural... How is it that I have never noticed it before; after all, it's huge and I don't believe "In One Era" is new. Thanks to Google street view, turns out this mural is new, as the old one is lightly colored (faded) and the subject mater is toned down (bahamian lifestyle from yesteryear possibly). The new mural is fresh and bold and captures the Key West lifestyle (bikes, iguanas, roosters, tourist advertisements and lots of foliage). The mural caught my attention, so I decided to see if the store carry's as much interest. Turns out they carry a eclectic mix of antiques and collectibles, many of which have caught my eye. And what a great area for such a shop; Petronia Street (Bahama Village) seems to be gaining popularity. My first visit was during a bike ride where (as I mentioned) the mural brought me in. Definitely some items worth coming back to possibly purchase, but not this visit since we had our bikes unlocked outside. The lady behind the counter (and possibly the owner) was extremely welcoming. We did come back a couple days later. Unfortunately two things mildly bothered me on this visit. Firstly, that same lady was not nearly as charming; if I didn't know better I would have thought she was in a down right bad mood. The other thing was (and not anyones fault) the main two items I was very interested in purchasing were wall-mounted curio cabinets that were not for sale. I will return and just assume the mood was just part of a bad day (we all have them); After all, I'd much rather support a locally owned business and believe my spending will be appreciated. read more

Cute shop. I thought mostly a little over priced but I'm going off things in Indiana vs Florida. I collect cufflinks and found a pair I liked for about 15$. They did have a pair that I was told were coral and sterling that they were asking over 100$ for. They were marked with name of the maker I personally never heard of. Almost purchased a couple tropical shirts and talked myself out of them. Worth a stroll thru. They open later than most shops. I think 1130am. Grab lunch first then go here. read more

I love antique-ing. I try to stop into as many shops as possible because they are just the kind of place that is often similar but never fully duplicated, and going into a single shop one day can be vastly different than going into the same shop a few years, months or even days later. The mural on the side is what caught my eye, so I popped in and was surprised by how small the space was but it felt very open. I wasn't afraid I'd knock into things and there was a wonderful mix of more modern yet retro items alongside true antiques and heirlooms. There were many beautiful things I'd have liked to buy but my budget was limited, as well as the space in my suitcase. However, I'm still glad I sneaked a peek because the owner offered me one of her homegrown Key bananas and (a phrase typically used far too often, IMO) it blew my mind! I thought it would be too ripe for my taste but it was fresh and citrusy. I'll definitely stop back in for a banana *fingers crossed* and hopefully a knickknack next time I'm in town. read more

Located just a few blocks off Duval Street (look for the Bahama Village sign at Petronia and Duval) in the Old Town area of Key West, this cool antiques and collectibles shop is situated at Thomas and Petronia across the street from one of the most popular restaurants in Key West, Blue Heaven, which is located at the end of a row of interesting shops on Petronia that you won't find the likes of on Duval Street. If you're looking for that unusual or one of a kind piece of vintage jewelry or décor for your home or to give as a gift, this store is the place to find it in Key West. The merchandise consists of art, jewelry, furniture, art glass and pottery, old silver, postcards and everything else you'd expect to find in a quality antiques and collectibles store where the merchandise is clean, authentic and clearly priced. I always make this store one of my stops when I go to Key West and I just purchased a very cool Mid Century Modern cat figurine here that's going into my art pottery collection that was very reasonably priced. The store is well lighted and air conditioned and you can take your time browsing to your heart's content as there are plenty of good restaurants in a variety of price ranges in the neighborhood so if you get hungry, you can go get something to eat and then go back and browse some more. If you decide to drive to this bit of Old Key West instead of walking or riding a bike, there is a parking lot nearby just a few blocks down Thomas across Southard Street near the entrance to the Truman Annex where the Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is located. Parking spaces closer to the store can often to be found on Thomas, Petronia and the side streets. Just be sure you don't park in a spot marked RESIDENTIAL. read more
