I took my son here today for our 2nd visit and had a horrible experience with Steve and i literally left shaken out of anger!. I couldn't tell you if his adjustment is the problem or not because we walked out of the establishment. I was so happy yesterday on our first appointment with Dr. Val (even took advantage of the savings options and bought extra visits) who was amazing and knew how to handle her patient regardless of the barriers placed in front of her. Fast forward 24 hours later and utterly disgusted on day 2, where I have decided we will not be going back, even after speaking with the owner in regards to how we were treated as a person/customer. They can keep their money!! Steve may be the best adjuster with the most patients they have, according to Tom, the owner, but you can have the best adjusters and mistreat too many patients and end up with no customers and no business. My son is 11 years old and never had an adjustment prior to yesterday, but was in severe pain and we needed relief. Today, we proceeded in as directed from our first visit yesterday, where we saw Steve Gillis. He was beyond aggravated to do his job, and displayed it through his attitude with my son. First of all,, he moves very quickly with no explanation, (not how you would handle any new patient new to chiropractic care and certanly not an adolescent they are your FUTURE business) He had little to no interest with our current pain concern, no interest in our status from yesterday's visit, proceded to crack my son's back, and I hit the brakes when he went to Crack his neck. My son was terrified at this point and asked to use the restroom where he literally looked at me and whispered "Please help, me" on his way there. I was in an absolute panic. Still giving Steve the benefit of the doubt because yes, I have been in the medical field and dealt with many doctors through experience, and realize even the best do not always have the most pleasant bedside manner, but what proceeded is horrific. As my son came out of the bathroom and PRESENT for the conversation, I asked do you have to do the cracking for adjustment (nothing as vigorous as today was our experience from yesterday), "We have hundreds of ways," Steve replied. "Lay here," said Steve as he moved to a different chiropractor bed. Still terrified, my son, slowly and reluctantly proceeded, and then said Mom, I'm sorry ai can't." No problem we are done today I said. Steve then says to me " do you always allow your son to make the calls with doctors and dentists?" First of all, ASSHOLE matter of fact I do!! He is 11 and has a voice! I received the owner's information in which as I was currently requesting it from Sammy, the office manager, Steve interjected to tell me he had his name and email. Great, got my information toom to minutes to breath and made a phone call. Tom was pleasant, and defended his employee as you can see from my previous statements. They may have alot of locations and success now, but major changes need to be implemented. This guy has no business dealing with anyone. There is so many details omitted that were said and added but STAY CLEAR!! The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because of our original visit. read more

The adjustment isn't the problem. I have been dealing with a nightmare of a hip problem and knee pain for two weeks. I came in to get help and Dr. Steve had the worst attitude. He seemed pissed that he had to do his job. He barely made eye contact. I could tell his energy was weird right away. When I was assertive that I needed him to be careful with my knee area because I've had patellar tendonitis and it's a sensitive area as he was bending it, I got in response "Oh my god." Like a bratty teen being told they can't go to a party. We all have our bad days, but sir please PLEASE. There's decorum when you're working in the medical field and trying to help people (especially those of us who are at our wits end with pain), and you are lacking. Do better. I get this isn't a pricy place and you get what you pay for, but if you're not going to listen to what's going on and be patient, why do you expect patience from me? The adjustment was okay. Doc was friendly but as people have mentioned the was no hand washing between patients. He cracked my back and I felt some relief for what I went in for. Honestly my biggest issue was the big anti-vax picture they have on the wall. I understand you're not medical doctors, but you're still doctors. How did I not know about this place? Hubby and I walked in about 5:15pm on a Monday afternoon. Being a new patient, I had to fill out a short questionnaire. I saw John Fenn. Amazing, friendly, & very informative. He aligned my back, next, & waist. Instantly, the tense soreness in my shoulders and back was gone. What I was surprisingly pleased with was he aligned my son's back and shoulders (for free). I saw what he did and I could tell he was actually relieving my son of any discomfort. I went to the Chesapeake location for an adjustment for some ongoing but not super bothersome pain in my hips. Well, the experience left me constantly thinking about one thing - unsanitary. The doctor did not wash his hand after adjusting the previous person. He started my session with some warm-up massage on my neck and shoulder. Then adjustments on neck and pelvis, and then moved on to feet and ankle with his hands touching and holding the bottoms of my shoes. After that, it was when I started to feel "dirty" and "uncomfortable" when he moved on holding my forehead and face for another treatment that I could no longer concentrate. He did not wash his hand after my session and continued working on the next person. For $25, if you don't care about sanitation, sure it's a deal. I don't think I will go back, as I don't think how many patients he treats a day with continuous touch of the germs on the shoes and people's greasy face. read more

I have been to this location twice and I have truly enjoyed my experience. Today I took my 8 year old son for the first time since he plays sports and carries around a heavy bookbag. Dr. Chalfant was nothing short of amazing. He made my son feel comfortable and was very patient with all of his questions...and even allowed him to help with my adjustment! Walk-In. $20. ...This may not mean much to you if you've never had a back spasm on the weekend. Or your work schedule allows for you to take time off during "normal business hours" during the week for doctor's appointment. Or if you've ever had a period of chronic pain where you have exhausted all of your insurance midway through the calendar year and had to come out of pocket with hundreds of dollars to complete treatment. If none of these scenarios have ever applied to you, God Bless! You are truly special. However, as a busy working professional whose schedule is subject to change frequently, I can fully appreciate In8 Chiropractic for all they have to offer. The convenience is second to none (they have 3 other locations as well!). It is also very evident this practice is trying wholeheartedly to make Chiropractic Care readily available to the masses. Let me start by saying that the docs are good at what they do. Truly. What this review speaks to is the general degradation of the overall experience. They seem to be understaffed as of late and at one time had no one at the front desk which meant the doc was doing the paperwork, checkout, etc. which makes the wait longer. The office area was pretty dirt with debris on the floor, and a feeling that a deep cleaning was necessary. In general the place is starting to give the feeling of a disheveled closet where no one is really in charge . With the great doctors they do have they really need to clean, freshen up the decor, paint and get organized. Also, please buy some new chairs. The two by the front door are tired and I have heard people complain to the desk person which usually gets a laugh and an acknowledgment of their condition. I like the convenience of this Chiropractic business. You don't need an appointment and you know someone is always in to adjust you. It's open on Saturday mornings which helped me a lot when I walked up with terribly stiff neck and painful jaw/ear situation. I saw a lovely female chiropractor who uses drop tables for adjustments. I have never been adjusted in such fashion, but it worked. She kindly worked on my jaw by massaging it to relive my pain in my ear. I was feeling back to 100% the very next morning! This is the original location and even tho it's further away from my home than the Kempsville location I've become a regular at this location because the two chiropractors on duty here are my favorites. I've reviewed the Kempsville Road location intersecting on Providence Road in Virginia Beach on YELP in the past. The trick is to find which doctor you prefer and the date and time they're on duty at that location so that you'll schedule your walk in accordingly. This is not a chiropractic office that offers X-rays and treatments that I'm accustomed to but the price is lower and it's on a walk in basis which is most convenient for me. It's $25 per visit and $75 for 4 visits so one visit is free however, if you pay for the 4 visits at one location it's only for that location. If you choose to go to one of the other locations you must pay for the visit. No appointments, no start up fees and no contracts is what's advertised here. There are six locations total. I've heard of the one on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach and passed the one on Monticello in downtown Norfolk but have only tried the one on Kempsville in Virginia Beach and the one on Battlefield and Cedar Road in Chesapeake. read more

And then to make matters worse, she just walked out with a lobby full of people saying she was done for the day. I don't know what kind of operation you are running, but it isn't customer friendly. I love this place. Dr Machelle Kerr uses a drop table which is what I prefer since I have a cervical fusion, 2 hip replacements and 1 shoulder replacement. I'm new to the area and looking for a chiropractor. I visited In8 today on a recommendation from an acquaintance. One of my hips is currently out of alignment, and causing back pain. It has happened before and my former chiropractor had no problem adjusting my hips back to normal alignment. I told the chiropractor I saw today as much, but he hardly adjusted my back at all, and definitely didn't get my hips back where they should have been. He talked a lot about using a massager every day so that your brain can send good signals to your whole body. Sure, they only charge $20 a visit, but you get what you pay for. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a REAL chiropractor, and I'm mad at myself for wasting a day and $20. Do yourself a favor, skip this option, and find a good chiropractor right off! read more

I was expecting he would really help with the pain I've had in my neck but he only crack my neck once on each side and that was it !!
