I had an extremely upsetting experience here that left me in tears. If you happened to witness this confrontation, please message me!! I came in for a dip powder manicure with removal of my previous dip. At checkout, I was charged more than expected. I politely asked what the additional charge was for, and instead of explaining, both the manager and technician immediately became defensive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager immediately said he was only responsible for charging what the tech claims the service was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The technician claimed it was for "shaping" my nails, even though she had only lightly filed them in the same shape they already were. I was a bit taken aback by their reactions, but said I understood and was just asking them to explain. After reviewing their price list, I noticed the shaping fee was only listed under acrylic services, not dip powder. I went back to ask for clarification. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager sighed, snatched the price list from my hand, said he was going to show me where it was and scanned almost the entire pamphlet and finally pointed at "shape" under the "acrylic" section and raised his voice to "say it doesn't MATTER" when I explained I did not get acrylic nails.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager blamed the technician for the charge, while the technician blamed the business's pricing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Neither acknowledged that the fee wasn't listed for the service I received or that I had never been told there would be an additional charge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The situation escalated unnecessarily. I never refused to pay, demanded a refund, or accused anyone of wrongdoing--I only wanted an explanation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead, the technician insulted me, threw $5 at me, suggested I "needed medical help," and repeatedly implied I couldn't afford the service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She then told me "EVERYONE pays additional for shaping, why should you not?" Instead of acknowledging her role in this and suggesting I was at fault[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I wish I had just left, but I was so taken aback and processing that I could not think straight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She turned to the manager and said "give her a refund since she's clearly here to just take my money. I don't want her money, I don't need it like she clearly does."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After refusing to acknowledge me, the manager then told me that if I wanted a refund, the technician would first have to remove my manicure because "this is America, nothing is free."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The entire exchange happened in front of a salon full of customers and was humiliating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My anxiety was on high, fully questioning myself and what I did wrong to elicit such a vitriolic confrontation over a question. I turned to look at the ROW of people staring at us from their pedicure chairs and quietly asked if I had been unreasonable and thankfully the two ladies closest to me immediately said "no." As silly as it sounds, I needed this confirmation because I still cannot make sense of what happened and why they acted the way they did. The worst nail salon experience I've had in 30 years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was ill-mannered, aggressive, and insulting, and the service was virtually nonexistent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anywhere else in the world, a basic manicure includes--at a minimum--cuticle cleaning, nail shaping, polish, and often a bit of moisturizing. At this salon, for $25, you get neither cuticle care nor moisturizer... and certainly not a smile or a relaxing atmosphere. To have your cuticles trimmed, you have to pay an extra $10. It's unheard of. And that's not even the worst part. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I simply tried to understand how they could offer half of a standard service for the same price as other places, the staff immediately raised their voices, constantly cut me off, and refused to engage in any discussion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then, one of the technicians barged into the conversation and called me a "bitch"--right in front of my daughter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also tried to charge me $90 for a set of tips with polish--no cuticle care, no moisturizing, nothing. When I asked for a justification, they replied: "Oh, wait--our mistake. It's actually $75." Even at $75, the price is completely unjustified given the level of service provided. In total, I paid $155 for: * a gel manicure for myself (with no cuticle care or moisturizing), * a pedicure for my daughter (same issue), * a set of tips, * and insults as a bonus. I'm not someone who complains easily, nor am I obsessed with prices. But letting myself be treated like an idiot in a filthy salon where the staff treats customers like cattle? Absolutely not. I've come here many times over the past 4 years but within the last year the polish doesn't last more than a day with regular and if I use gel it will not last more than 3-4 days max. Technicians change midway through the procedure. The guy who did my pedicure used a nail file and a stone white with skin of prior customers. I had to stop him from rubbing it into my feet. For context, before finding my regular person, one of the male staff members had previously ruined my nails--cutting them too short and filing them crookedly. So I was cautious about whom I saw this time around. Unfortunately, the experience was a disaster from the moment I walked in. The front desk staff was incredibly rude, yelling at me to sit down. I was completely ignored for some time until a male employee finally approached me and bluntly stated that no one wanted to do my nails. This is definitely not a place that does designs well. At the most, I only recommend you visit this salon if you are getting a regular mani and pedi. This place used to be my barber shop Prestigious Image and the owner of the nail spa bought them out. I've remained a loyal customer despite the focus on being more of a women's nail place now. They kept the barber side open thank God because it's not easy to find a new barber. George has been my barber for a few years and he's always done an outstanding job! I highly recommend him since he's the best barber I've ever had. I've tried all the other barber shops in south beach several years ago and he's the best hands down. Don't waste your time or money at other barber shops. They even offer you a free bottle of water if you'd like. You get a shampoo, hot towel, and shoulder massage with a hand held machine after every cut. Not many places do this and George is an expert at giving fades. Stop in and tell George I sent you.
