We are giving 2 stars because this was a very important part of our wedding day, and those photos never happened. We had clearly communicated ahead of time that we wanted photos at UT Austin since it's where my wife and I met. We provided detailed parking information, and she mentioned that she had previously taken photos at the university, so we did not anticipate any issues. Unfortunately, she did not arrive at the university in time, and those photos never happened. It was especially disappointing because we even saw another bride and groom meeting their photographer who arrived as planned. Those pictures were meaningful to us, and there was no way to recreate that moment with everyone. It also put a damper on the day because the rest of our wedding party arrived on time and were ready for photos. It was awkward having everyone gathered and waiting without a photographer there, especially after we had planned so carefully around that location.She did offer to stay an extra hour for the after-party and to schedule another session on a different day. We appreciate her effort to make it right; however, after-party coverage wasn't something we had planned or prioritized, and it didn't replace the significance of the UT Austin photos. Rescheduling would have required another trip and redoing hair and makeup, and we were leaving immediately afterward for our honeymoon, making it unrealistic. Overall, while the final images were solid, missing such an important and clearly communicated location was very disappointing and took away from what should have been a seamless part of our wedding day.

He did whatever it took to get the shot in 90+ degree heat. He came with fun, creative ideas, and even laid down on a dusty bridge infested with flies to get the most amazing shot of the day...my husband and I on a worn, abandoned bridge, with vibrant green woods surrounding us as the sun set through the trees! Take a look at it on his website. It will take your breath away. Daran even captured my sister in mid air when she did the "dirty dancing" lift with this best man as they made their entrance! Unreal. If you are looking for a wedding photographer or simply a photographer who is creative and willing to do whatever it takes to get that shot, then Colored Lion is the company you need to work with. Daran has a truly natural talent with color. He enhanced the color of my pictures and took them to a whole new level (I seriously didn't think they could get any better). His eye for the aesthetic and passion for color is simply something that cannot be taught. He is the the heart and brains behind Colored Lion. One of the wedding planning books I read suggested looking for photographers on ppa.com (Professional Photographer's of America), and that's how I came across Austin Imagery's website. I liked what I saw there, but for such an important occasion, I wanted to make sure I did my due diligence before making a final decision, and boy did I! Here is the breakdown of my evaluation: 1. Photography Style: Following the advice of a friend (who wasn't very satisfied with her wedding photos), I asked to see 3 full albums to get a good sense of their photography style. I'm not into special tinting or "artistic" angles. My goal was to be able to look at my wedding album years from now and feel like the photos were timeless. Chris & Yvonne deliver a beautiful, classic style! They captured gorgeous images of the decor, and more importantly, my friends and family members all looked fantastic! 2. Rapport: Following the advice of another friend, I also had my sister (who is local to Austin) and her family meet Chris & Yvonne. It was important to me that my family get along well with both of them, because I think people's moods really show through in photographs. Needless to say, everyone got along great. I can't stress enough how fantastic Chris & Yvonne are to work with. Even my tough-to-please mother loved them both! 3. Customer Service: Chris & Yvonne were always very prompt with their responses and very accommodating throughout. When things got really hectic with my schedule in those last few weeks before the wedding, they were also proactive in reaching out to make sure all of the final details were set. They were also very timely with the delivery of the photos, which were available online well within the estimated time frame they had provided me. She is unique from other wedding photographers that I saw in that her photos portray colors vividly and boldly. She has an incredibly inclusive and diverse business and is accepting of all different wedding and couple types! Jenna as a person really tries to get to know you and she even took us out to dinner just to chat a few weeks before our big day! We absolutely loved our photos from our engagement shoot and our wedding - most of the important moments were captured in beautifully vivid color. We had an Indian fusion wedding and chose her because we saw another Indian fusion wedding she had done in which we fell in love with her photography style. That said, there is a certain dramatic style and culturally specific type of photos that Indian weddings usually have and I felt that I missed out on some of those types of photos (even though we are not a fan of overly dramatic to begin with and she already adds a good amount of drama to her photos!). There could have been a little more cultural exploration there and of course that will come with her practicing on Indian weddings. Regardless, I am so glad I took a chance on her because we were really happy with the results for a totally reasonable price for wedding photographers. Would certainly recommend her in general! And for Indian weddings, just make sure you work with her to tell and show her exactly what you're looking for, but she can definitely give you the drama you're looking for!
