I am so happy I found Patrick and Lorna. Unfortunately I recently gained a need for a service dog. I've tried owner training before and it's not easy. It's also not easy to find programs that train German Shepherds for service and give them to civilians that need them. I have my reasons for wanting the GSD instead of a lab or golden, and it's related to disability. Then there's the ridiculous cost and waiting period for a program dog. Enter Incredible Canine with their amazing resume. Unfortunately they don't have a ton of reviews which made my decision unnerving. But after three weeks of absolute torture (and having to foster a dog to keep my stress down and mind off his absence), I got him back. Well, my dog was a shelter dog where after I paid for him one of the staff said he pulls so hard he needs a harness. True. But not after three weeks with Incredible Canine. He came out the day I got him back and as Lorna was working him, I wanted to cry - he reminded me of a show dog! For the next few months I worked with Patrick alongside my dog. I now have a dog that just completed a successful 20 minute down stay at Petsmart with another German Shepherd and other dogs and people walking around. He heeled with me and a leash loosely around my neck, rather than in my hands for a while in Petsmart without sniffing treats or getting very distracted. I'm so excited about our training and know this was well worth it. We have fundamentals down I would have never been able to get (or had the patience to get down at this point) in such a short period of time. We started training our 5 month old Yorkshire Terrier with Pat in January of 2023 and did eight weeks of sessions finishing in February and here it is May and she is still enjoying the on going training. His wife Lenora trained Cricket for the first few weeks then we had the remainder teaching her with Pat's help. Even though they normally train much larger dogs they gave us the personalized attention we needed. She heels, sits and comes when called which really were our main priorities but there is so much more that she retained. Can't thank them enough for a wonderfully trained attentive puppy. Saved our Dog!!! Highly Recommend!!! Absolutely Amazing!!! Background: We adopted Tucker from a rescue (approx 1 year old, border collie mix maybe) he had come from a bad situation but seemed like a sweet boy at the rescue and adorable to boot so we adopted him. For the first week he was adjusting and seemed like he was going to be just fine, a little excited/jumpy, little mouthy, no biting and no barking. By the second week, he was barking at everything jumping all over us when we came in the door and nipping at us. Then we had a friends/other dogs over this was a number of interactions over some time but to some it up between 1-2 months of having him we realized we had a BIG problem. He tried to bite every person who came into the house and attacked other dogs, he did all of this without any kind of provocation or warning. Someone would be petting him, he would be fine, then the person would get up and he would attack their feet. We decided it was time to take action. I got a referral from a friends groomer and had a trainer come in for an evaluation. After $100 and 30 minutes we were told that Tucker was a lawsuit waiting to happen (we had already had that thought) and that nothing could be done until he was put on drugs and that even then he was most likely a lost cause (and told that maybe some behavioral specialist dog trainers down in Berkley would be able to help). We were left with a tough decision and seriously considered returning him to the rescue. We had already bonded with him and knew that if he went back would encounter the same situation if he was adopted again. Summary: I went on a mission and contacted EVERY dog trainer that I could google in Sonoma County. I came across the Incredible Canine website and it looked promising, but I knew that Tucker would probably need the boot camp and that was a big investment that we hadn't planned on. As for the other trainers, I came up with nothing, I was referred to the trainer that had already said Tucker was a lost cause and somewhere else that wanted $$$ just to evaluate him, I made the mistake of paying for an evaluation once and decided that any trainer worth their stuff would not need to charge prior to providing training. After some deliberation, we took Tucker to meet Lorna and Patrick for a consultation. They evaluated him, giving him different numbers in categories that we didn't understand. Then they had me put a training collar on him and Lorna took him out and "worked" him on a leash (something else that I didn't truly understand until later). After about five minutes or so, she brought him back to the barn and said that he could be trained, but boot camp was required (3 weeks, she explained that in very rare situations an additional fourth week is required, but she was confident that this would not be the case with Tucker). We took Tucker home, thought about it and decided that we wanted to keep him; called Patrick and Lorna, set him up for their next session and put out the $4000 for boot camp. Three weeks later.... Patrick gave us specific instructions on what to do when we arrived to pick up Tucker ---I had weekly check-ins with Patrick/Lorna while Tucker was at boot camp to keep us up to date on how he was doing, Lorna does most of the training while they are at boot camp and Patrick does more of the feeding/playtime etc. (Tucker was a bit of a bully at boot camp and annoyed the other dogs and could have easily been eaten, he's all of thirty pounds and was going after a dobey, but Patrick coupled him up with another dog and he managed to get in some decent playtime).--- So we are waiting quietly when Lorna brings Tucker out (he can't see us) and she proceeds to work him in front of us (heel, sit down, etc) is this our dog? Patrick shows us the hand signals and then begins to train us on how to work Tucker. He told us that we both need to spend either 5 or 10 minutes each, working with Tucker everyday and that we will come back to see him once a week with Tucker until we are done (meaning that Tucker has gone as far as he can go). He advised us that we would need a minimum of 8 continued training sessions. I should mention that this is included in the boot camp price and we were advised of the at our initial consultation. After about 2.5 months we were done with Tucker's training sessions with Patrick. Tucker is a reformed dog he is able to walk off leash and follow all commands. It took a little bit more work at home (under Patrick's advisement) for him to be trusted around house guests but he has proven himself to be a good boy. Conclusion: I am writing this review almost a year after sending Tucker to boot camp and he is such a good boy! He has become a member of our family and we have Patrick and Lorna to thank for that. If we ever get another dog/puppy we will definitely take them to Incredible Canine for training. I can't speak highly enough about their program. My husband and I made the mistake of getting two puppies from the same litter. Problems occur when you get two puppies that are siblings. The normal dog/human bond does not progress naturally, because of the bonding and social status the two siblings have already established. In essence, the pups create their own pack, ignoring you the human as the Leader. Patrick was wonderful in evaluating both the Rosie and Bella, our Labrasheps and was spot on with his analysis. Patrick and Lorna's use of Positive Reinforcement training and Discipline (consequence) training, is a natural training process. Rosie was identified as a fearful dog, and Bella was calm. Rosie always tried to take control, push Bella aside, etc. Bella followed Rosie's lead. It was becoming impossible even at 12 weeks to train them. Separation anxiety was a big issue due to the immediate bonding between them, rather than through us. Training was impossible. After Patrick's evaluation, we signed up for the group class, Patrick treated each guest individually based on his evaluation and familiarity of their dog. In truth it felt like we were getting private lesson at times. The class covered very many important aspects, all the while fine tuning, us the humans, on the proper protocol in working with our dogs to guarantee success. I have had dogs for over 40 years, but I learned that past behavior on my part when training my dogs, had provoked unwanted behavior. My husband and I could have easily and unknowingly raised our dogs in a way that could have ended tragically, if we had not had the good fortune of attending Incredible Canine training courses. read more

He took our rescued lab with NO attention span and in the space of three weeks had her sitting, heeling, and laying down on command where even after months I couldn't consistently get her to listen. She is a different dog - confident, happy, well mannered. PLEASE BE CAREFUL of other trainers who talk about their successes but won't take on a difficult dog or throw problem dogs out of their classes. Patrick may seem to be more expensive than Petsmsart, Pawsitive Results, and the rest of that kind, but in the long run he is much less expensive. I can't praise Incredible Canine enough. After searching online for dog trainers, I was convinced by the Yelp reviews to give Patrick a try, so I feel like I should give back. Patrick is an amazing trainer. Our dog didn't have any major behavioral issues, but we were pretty clueless about training him despite having grown up around dogs, and as our German Shepherd/Border Collie mix reached 1, it was clear there was potential for him to get used to his bad habits and be a bit of a pest. Our dog ADORES Patrick. It's such a pleasure to watch them work together, and it's so important to me that our dog enjoys the sessions which he does immensely. Patrick's approach to training is so logical. He gives great explanations, and the combination of his years of experience and his excellent communication skills makes it pretty much impossible to A. not understand what he's talking about, and B. not agree. We've spent quite a bit of money on private lessons so far, and still have a few to go, but the changes we're seeing makes it totally worth the investment. Our pooch is more confident, obedient, and happy. We took our nearly two year old McNab Border Collie to Patrick and Lorna for an evaluation and the 3 week boot camp. Our dog was transformed! I went to incredible Canine with my 2 year old pit mix. Going in he had some foundation of training but he still wasn't trustworthy off leash and pulled hard when he was walking on leash. After 8 sessions he is so much more advanced than I ever thought he would be. He is capable of off leash walking and will always come when called, doesn't rush out of doors, and can be walked on leash without pulling ahead. Our Doberman, Bruno, stayed with them for three weeks during his" boot camp" obedience training when he was 6 month old. Patrick taught him to be obedient and confident, but he managed to keep his spirit (he is still a goofball...). I sent my angel to boot camp here after she was attacked. She started to show anxiety around other dogs and I wanted to resocialize. While in the care of Incredible Canines my dog was viciously attacked again by another dog. My dog had to have emergency surgery and they did not even inform me until almost 2 days later. The first thing this man did was hand me the vet bill and asked me to pay off the amount due. My dog was never trained! 2,500 later I have a traumatized dog with scars across her face and half her ear gone. She also had burns and blisters on her feet from the hot ground. Please help me get my money back from this man! Stay away from here! He should of done the right thing and not charged me and his insurance for his company should of covered the vet bill. And he should of called me the second my baby went into surgery. So just to cover everything, I took my dog hear to get trained and resocialized after getting attacked. Here she received no training, got attacked again and I got charged over $2,500 including a vet bill of an injury that occurred on his watch. His wife yelled at him for taking too long to get her when I picked her up since they had somewhere to go with no concern for me or my dog. I will do what I must and go to court and plaster pictures of my poor baby all of Santa Rosa if needed to stop him from hurting another dog, but I just want to move forward and need the money to find someone who can actually help Indy now. Our 1 year old GSD/Malinois mix rescue was completely untrained when he was found as a stray, and walking him was difficult to say the least and he had pretty strong aggression towards some dogs. After having him for only 3 weeks we had to evacuate our mountain home for wildfires and wound up with relatives in Santa Rosa. A very special thank you to Patrick and Lorna for taking our dog into bootcamp during that time. Our boy went through the 3 week bootcamp and we cannot be happier. Their training brought out the start of a calm and confident dog who now has great obedience skills and a desire to learn new things and continues to improve daily. We had to put in the work after bootcamp to learn how to work with him (I was continually amazed by the things the dog had already learned), but that was a great bonding experience and the transfer lessons were fun and informative. We've had him back home for 5 weeks now and our dog is doing great and walking him is a breeze. I scheduled an assessment with Lorna and Patrick anticipating we would have one or two sessions to address my four year old boxer's anxiety. We had a cross country drive in a few months, and I did not not want Ruby to have a miserable trip. After Ruby's assessment, and much consideration we decided the three week training was the best solution. Two months later since I first met with Patrick and Lorna and my happy bouncy boxer is now an extremely confident boxer too. Though I think the real teaching was the lessons I learned. Patrick was very patient with me, answered a multitude of questions each week, and the new partnership between Ruby and I makes me so darn happy. Ruby is not anxious in the car, walks loose leash instead of pulling me every which way, is not reactive to other dogs on our walks, and comes when I call her on and off leash. I almost never write reviews, but Patrick and Incredible Canine has helped our family greatly, and we are thoroughly grateful and happy for all they have done for us. We have a retriever who was the nicest dog until he matured from a puppy into a young dog. He then became aggressive and forceful, to the point where only I could control him but my wife and children could not. The children who once played with him freely did not feel safe to even pet him, and we no longer trusted him to be with them, let alone meet visitors, people outside our house or other dogs. We did not want to lock him away, but had to keep him separated from all others and constantly under our watch. We tried many different techniques and trainers, and while some had good qualities none were able to help us resolve his behavior. We searched extensively and found that Incredible Canine came highly recommended for such situations. We had tried other options for a year with little success, and while we had small hope that another training regimen would help we very much wanted this fracture in our family resolved. On meeting our dog Patrick was able to manage him immediately, and within 10 minutes of spending time with our dog he was able to explain his behavior traits and issues without us having to tell him first. We decided to leave our dog in Patrick's care (Incredible Canine is an excellent facility with plenty of space and appropriate stimulus for dogs) for four weeks of intensive training, with the hope that we could have the family dog back that we so completely missed. Patrick gave us status reports whenever we asked, and upon returning to pick up our dog and bring him home at the end of the intensive training we were utterly amazed. He not only had become a respectful and gentler dog, but had learned an incredible amount of self control and would follow all the basic commands a dog should. Within an hour Patrick instructed us on the training methods and commands, and how to continue and reinforce them ourselves, and we were able to do so with immediate success. We undertook a few weeks of follow-up training sessions (about one hour a week), and by the end of that we had a completely trained dog, aggression issues resolved, and his behavior thoroughly managed and under our control. Our dog has returned to being a family dog again, and our children now play freely with him and also reinforce his training. No longer do we have to keep one eye on him in our family home, and he is allowed the freedom he had lost for a year. Not only that, he obeys commands at once, and does not need bribes or repeated instruction from us to do so. He heels and comes even when there are extreme distractions, and we can let him off leash knowing that he is under our control, even in areas where many other dogs are roaming free. We are extremely grateful to Patrick and Incredible Canine, he has give us back our dog, and shown us how to be the owners that our dog deserves. read more

Before taking the unbearable step of surrendering her, we felt we owed it to her to give intensive training a try. Patrick has the firm hand and working knowledge of canine behavior to get results. At the same time, it is clear that he has deep affection and respect for dogs. (Our dog loves him!) He's also clearly an overall smart guy, who has a way of training people (with excellent metaphors and clear instructions) as well as their dogs. Working with him has changed our relationship with our dog. We can walk her on a leash for the first time and have learned so much about how to work with her to alleviate her anxiety, aggression, and other negative behaviors. It's an ongoing process, but we are actually enjoying it and seeing improvements all the time. Patrick will tell you from the beginning that he can deliver great training results, but a key piece of success is the willingness of the dog's owners to put in the training hours too. Patrick certainly did his part and now we are doing ours. It's also worth saying that we tried several other trainers before Patrick. None of them had the knowledge or fortitude to deal with our dog's issues. After wasting a good amount of money on strategies that didn't work, I wish we had found Patrick earlier. This is absolutely the BEST trainer I have ever been to. My dog had trust issues with people and dogs. She had even snapped and growled at family members. After trying 4 different trainers, she bit someone and we were in danger of having to put her down. In fact, the last trainer told us we should. Tried these guys as a last resort and after 3 weeks, all I can say is AMAZING! Liesel is playing with other dogs, and is a joy to walk even downtown. I no longer fear taking her out. And most important, she is alive and a part of our family. It was hard training me to handle her and help her but the instruction was thorough and I have learned so much about how to read my dog and trust her. It's also a great sign that she starts whining as soon as we turn on their street and tries to get back in their kennel when we get out of the car. She loves Patrick more than me, lol! We adopted two young dogs last October and wanted to get them the best training that we could. Some friends in the Santa Rosa PD highly recommended Patrick. Neither one of our dogs had major behavioral issues but it was obvious that they had zero obedience and minimal house training. We've been taking them to IC for a few months now and are amazed at how far they have come. Our goal was to give the dogs more freedom by giving them the choice to listen and obey. Patrick has done a great job teaching our dogs to do things such as heel, sit, stand, lay down as well as holding and transitioning through those positions. More importantly, our dogs now realize that they posses a sense of agency. Their training has not only helped them as individuals but it has helped everyone at home. It has allowed us to better communicate with the dogs since we know each other's tendencies/gestures and has allowed us to get on the same page. Our dogs' growth wasn't instant. Week after week they improved. Now we're at the point where we will bring the dogs to a family event and other people are amazed at how they behave. They play freely yet obey our commands when it is necessary. Even at dog parks I see other owners struggle to control their dogs and most of the time, it is the dog controlling the owner. Today I was walking out of the dog park and with one command I had both dogs heeling (off-leash) to my truck. Meanwhile, another dog owner was yelling obscenities at his dog to come to him so they could leave, but the dog had no response and failed to obey. Our dogs still make mistakes and trained daily (when not at IC). Patrick gives us homework to do after every session and that becomes our focus for the week. I've seen some reviews from people who were upset that their dog wan't fully trained after three weeks. The private training is just the beginning; what really counts is how much time you're willing to devote to training them beyond that. Patrick has been a great trainer for our dogs and we're excited to see them grow mentally week by week. I would highly recommend IC for highly motivated dog owners. read more

We rescued an Australian Shepard from a family member who was going to euthanize him because he had developed epilepsy. He was untrained and very anxious, confused and unaware of what to do with himself. He had separation anxiety and didn't know how to walk on a leash. Patrick recognized his special needs and worked with him to help him gain confidence and trust. Patrick's ability to "read" King's special needs was instrumental in finding King a forever home. He leaves our care in two weeks to live with a family who cannot wait for him to arrive! In the 5 weeks since he left Incredible Canines he has relaxed, is crate trained, is more trusting, can walk on a leash, come when called, and his separation anxiety is gone. Hoorah! INCREDIBLE doesn't even come close, try MIRACULOUS! I give Patrick 10 stars. After our 80 lb. 11 month old "rescue puppy" THOR showed signs of aggression towards me, and a dog sitter I had hired, I was frightened and at my wits end. A puppy I had lovingly trained and nurtured from 10 weeks old, was now out of control. In a driving rain, I loaded THOR into my car and drove 30 minutes to Patrick, convinced that this experiment in "Rescue" had failed miserably. Patrick was calm, kind, and made room for THOR immediately sensing my extreme distress. I drove away in tears, sure that even after spending a great deal of money, I would still have to find THOR another owner. If I couldn't trust him, he'd have to go. After a four week intensive training program, and weekly check in phone calls, I returned to find a changed dog and dynamic. Patrick's skill and commitment to training THOR saved him, saved us. I train with Patrick and THOR weekly, (soon to be completed), and with THOR daily. I now have the skills to keep him in check and our bond is re-established. THOR is my protector and I couldn't be more thankful. I write this with tears of joy and hope it helps another dog and owner in need. We were in a pinch to board our dogs prior to a trip when our plans for care fell through. Boarding a dog isn't cheap, let alone 3 of them. Each one has a few quirks to them and feeding time is something that has to be done carefully due to a food aggression towards dogs in our Great Dane. We wanted the pack to remain in the same run as they have all bonded well to one another and it would lessen the stress of a new place. Lorna was able to squeeze us in and there is no question as to the care that they received while there! All of them were happy and healthy. My female GSD had obviously grown an attachment to Lorna during her stay as she stuck close to her knee until she figured out who was in front of her. They provided the crate for my puppy who was still being crate trained. Lorna responded each time I checked in about them and even sent a few pictures! We were able to go on vacation and enjoy ourselves because we knew the dogs were in great hands! read more

We came to Patrick with our malamute and needed help with her dog aggression and overall obedience. With such a large dog, we needed more confidence in how to handle her and how to provide her a home where we all were happy. After working with Patrick for two months, we are beyond happy.
