Tuckered out after enjoying his new-found beach freedom with the e-collar.

I can't say enough good things about Eleanor! We came to her completely overwhelmed with our newly adopted 1-yo pitbull mix, who was having issues with overexcitement and arousal. Despite being an experienced and competent dog owner, I was at my wits-end trying to manage a 50lb dog jumping, doing alligator rolls, and nipping anytime he got overstimulated by his environment. In just one session, Eleanor gave us the guidance that we needed to completely turn around our situation, gain confidence in ourselves, and set clear and supportive boundaries for our pup, which completely eliminated the problem behaviors in a matter of days. We later went back to Eleanor for a few additional sessions to make progress on our dog's fear of appliances and to condition an e-collar for 100% reliable recall in the highest-distraction environments. Thanks to Eleanor, our dog now has an incredibly joyous life full of almost daily beach and hiking adventures! I would recommend Eleanor for any dog training needs: from rambunctious adolescent behavior, to loose-leash walking, to engagement and obedience work, to separation anxiety, and everything in-between! I was seeking a trainer that was a clear communicator, knowledgable in a wide range of training approaches, and was both kind and effective - Eleanor was all of those things and much more!

Eleanor is amazing! She exceeded our expectations when it came to attaining our goals with our dogs. We sought out Eleanor's support because we wanted to introduce a male Akita puppy to our family, and we wanted it to go well with our 3-year-old female Akita, Kima. On top of ensuring a smooth meeting and relationship with the two dogs, Eleanor taught us so much and really improved my relationship with our older dog, which I didn't even realize was strained. Kima pulled on leash and had poor recall, and had started getting into it with other dogs on the trail. After working with Eleanor, we are able to have Kima off leash with reliable recall, I have a much better bond with Kima as I better understand how to communicate with her. Eleanor is no nonsense, non-judgemental and very supportive in her approach, and funny, making her a pleasure to work with. I always looked forward to our sessions and she would bring out sides to our dogs that I had never seen, and it gave me the confidence and inspiration to keep putting in the work. Eleanor is primarily training you as the owner in your relationship and lifestyle with your dog, and this requires commitment and work from both the trainer and owner. It was worth the investment in both time and money. Additionally, participating in the facebook group was a great additional resource as members shared their successes and challenges, and offered advice and discussion that improved my training experience. While training with Eleanor she is exceptionally available for consultations via messaging and phone call, as well as through her sessions.

I really admire Eleanor. I believe she is a very mindful dog trainer. She knows that teaching her clients to improve their relationship with their dogs takes commitment and time. Through her, we've learned that training is something you do every day in a variety of ways, and that fun is a reward as much as anything else. When I try to think of how to communicate with my dog through body language, I channel Eleanor. I believe that learning to train a dog brings benefits to other parts of your life (like child-raising!). It's almost like Eleanor is a marriage counselor, but for your relationship with your dog. I highly recommend.

Harley with our 2 month old baby

Eleanor is the dog trainer you've been looking for! Seriously, just stop reading reviews and give her a call. If you'd like to keep reading, here's a quick rundown of our story... My dog Harley (a belgian malinois border collie mix) became aggressive at around a year and a half old when she bit someone she didn't know that came into the house. I was totally freaked out and I called a ton of trainers that said they couldn't guarantee anything with aggressive dogs, they wanted $250 just to meet us to see if they wanted to work with us or, my favorite, they just never called back. We resorted to keeping Harley from meeting new people unless they were definitely going to be around her a lot moving forward. It was a really stressful and scary process for me because I didn't trust my dog. I loved her and knew she was great and extremely gentle with people she knew but I didn't trust her with new people. Fast forward three years and I'm 8 months pregnant with our first baby. We were hoping for the best but my husband and I had agreed that we needed to be prepared to give Harley away if she wasn't okay with the baby. When I heard about Eleanor and the fact that she had two malinois I was hesitantly optimistic that she might be able to "fix" Harley. We talked on the phone for over an hour before we met. By the end of the conversation I felt like she really knew us and what we wanted and she was honest about what we should expect from the training. When she came to the house for our first session it went a million times better than I ever could have imagined! Every exercise she'd bring up I'd say "Oh that won't be easy" or "Harley will flip out barking" and every single time Eleanor introduced the exercise in such a way that Harley was calm and well behaved the entire time! It was so amazing to watch! All of the training with Eleanor went just as great! She gave us homework and online courses to review and a set of guidelines for when we brought the baby home. Today, Harley is a completely different dog than she was before meeting Eleanor. She's incredibly well behaved, doesn't mind when strangers come in the house (don't worry, Eleanor, she's on tie down!) and, most importantly, she's okay with the baby!! If she can teach us to be the kind of dog parents that result in Harley being the best version of herself, Eleanor can definitely help you with your dog! This photo is of our 2 month old baby and Harley. We are SO grateful that Eleanor was able to help with this very important transition in our lives!

From our first meeting and throughout all our training sessions, the staff at K9 was super helpful, patient and thorough. Our first meeting was an assessment with Alicia. She was friendly and kind when meeting us and our puppy. The entire front office staff was also super helpful in scheduling our assessment and the following training appointments. They worked together perfectly to help keep us on course with all our training and follow-up information. After we decided to enroll our puppy in training, the training staff (Kobie, Ashley, Sophie and Geraldine) were fantastic!! They worked closely with us to slowly train Raider. He was introduced to other dogs, learned to heel perfectly on a leash, obey commands, come on command, and sit patiently every time we stop walking. These trainers are truly exceptional! We have heard many times how incredibly well-trained our dog is. Again, we would highly recommend K9 Activity Club and Lodge.

Thankfully they were able to accommodate. At drop off I was told that I would be sent pictures and updates, and that I could text or call them if needed. I never got any updates, nor a response to my message to them. Upon pickup, I was told that my dog did well and that I would get a report card and pictures of her stay. I didn't receive either. The apparent lack organization/reliability doesn't make me feel comfortable trusting my dog in their care. To top it off, my dog has had terrible diarrhea since staying there. Really wanted to like this place so pretty disappointed :/ Update: She still has diarrhea and have now seen reviews from others who's dogs have contracted Giardia here. Let's hope that's not the case

Good Dawg Training comes expertly recommended by the top behavioral doctor at the UC DAVIS behavioral science department. Good Dawg Training is 1 of only 3 trainers trusted by UC DAVIS in the entire North Bay Area. If you have a new puppy or an older dog like us, do not hesitate to book here. We made the mistake of putting our puppy in a local training program where she stayed there for 1 week- we found out later they use negative punishment and it only made our dogs anxiety worse. I highly recommend avoiding this route of a group training program like this and working with Colette individually.

She has been around many dogs and knows what she is talking about. Molly helped us recognize things our dog was doing and helped us correct them in a positive way. The jr. high class seemed to repeat some things. However, it was good for us to remember the basics and helped us be consistent. Molly also has some playgroups which were fun when it was cold out. It's amazing what just a few sessions did for our dog and Molly uses all positive reinforcement for training. At our last session it was a great refresher to get us, as owners, feeling good about all our dog has learned already and how to continue to train her in the future. I feel so much more confident now after having Molly come into our home to help us than I did before we met her. If any questions were to come up, I know she'd help in any way and just wants the best for the dogs (and clients)!
