First off, yes, I'm a local. But I keep my opinion non-biased. This store isn't where you go for all parts AR-15, Glock, aftermarket this or that. (I was just in that kind of store in Boise this week and, damn they had it all) but this store is small town and I love it. Just what you need. Anyway, Jon the owner is an awesome guy. He always talks the truth and is willing to help you get anything you're looking for. They have done a great job keeping the Morongo basin supplied as best as they can during our shitty COVID times. I have seen all walks of life come through the doors and they all get the same treatment. Unless you're a "karen" non 2A type. Then he does nothing and the customers help explain why they are going to leave. But that will happen in any gun store. I recommend this store for anyone. read more

Obviously, this is a much sought after item. 2 days later, John called stating he found one. I ordered it from him and it came in a few days later. Jon went above and beyond super helpful with a newbie, and I'm a liberal to boot! (I also have a GO BACK TO LA sticker on my car, cause yep, the LA people act pretty badly out here most of the time -if you are offended, you're probably the problem). I bought a house far out from town with no near neighbors and after years of feeling totally safe, I had some guys case my house at 1am a few weeks back. I ran them off with my car but reluctantly felt arming myself was the best option for the future as the sheriff never even showed up to the call. Jon walked me through tons of options for both handguns and shotguns ... even staying after his store closed because he wanted to steer me away from buying an American-made "crappy" gun I was considering due to its low price and seemingly great marketing claims+warranty. He was right. After two weeks of tons of research online, youtube videos, comparisons, and calling several other gun stores I realized his prices are the fairest you can get and his knowledge and advice are spot on and accurate. I decided to order online and get the guns he advised me to buy as he had already sold out in the time it took me to make a decision. I kept calling back to double check that his transfer fee was only 10% of the online order price because all the other gun stores I called in the area were charging $75 PER GUN at minimum. Now I am the proud owner of a handgun and a shotgun and soon will feel much more secure at home (will be hitting the range regularly). I appreciate the entire experience and his focus on each customer. Every time I called on the phone he was busy and I had to wait, but when in-store he made others who phoned wait on hold while he took his time with me. That's true customer service to give such undivided attention one at a time. And thanks for treating me so well even though I told you at the beginning of our experience that we were opposites politically! read more

I've been dealing with Luke/Independence since his early days at his previous location on the other side of town. Despite his limited hours, his effort to run a viable guns & ammo store in YV appear to be, so far, working. Ease of doing business, Luke's friendly manner and his in-depth knowledge of the sporting arms is refreshing. His consignment rate, mark-up and fees are more than fair - especially when compared to the 1-star store IMO (I've stopped in at least half a dozen times over the years) a few blocks 'down the street'. read more
