Spoke with Ron and a nice lady who worked there. Being from out of state I was not 100% clear on laws. These guys helped me understand what the laws were and didn't once look like they were annoyed by my questions. Besides being knowledgeable about laws, they are pretty savy when it comes to firearms in general. I bought a weapon from them and will continue to frequent them with my business. I sold a gun at this shop on consignment. They asked me how much "I" wanted to get for the sale and I was very clear on the amount. They wrote out a contract with me and bumped up the selling price by $200 for their share of commission. After the gun was in the shop for 2 days, a friend of mine was interested in buying it via private sale with me. I had him meet me right at opening time of the shop on a Tuesday (10am). As soon as I walked in the door, they couldn't find my gun. The guy at the shop finally told me they sold it and were waiting for the 10 days to clear for my check. I asked the lady at the shop why they didn't call me to notify me that my gun had sold. She said they don't call people until the 10 day waiting period. She said, "If we called everyone who's gun sold, we'd be making calls all day long." The shop is small and doesn't have many guns by the way. These people are just lazy. It's that simple. After the 10 day waiting period, I picked up the check, which was $240 below what I previously said I wanted. They then acted as if they did not know what I was talking about and showed me the contract I signed with them. In the end it was my fault as I signed a contract without reading it carefully enough. These people have a very poor attitude and act like you owe them, even when they are gaining a huge commission off YOUR sale. I am all for supporting local businesses, but this one needs a reality check. I highly recommend avoiding this shop if at all possible, as there are plenty of better ones in the Coachella Valley. read more

Overpriced, but has a large stock. The employees are heavily bias, which can be offensive at times. I bought a shotgun from them, they were helpful in getting me a great product, but overpriced at that. Employees are not very knowledgeable on local gun laws, so be careful. Overall, I most likely will not shop here due to competitors in the area. read more

I've been in there over the years and was never really impressed. The first time was when they were over in old town Yucca, near H&R block I think. I needed a replacement part (rear sight) for an AR-7. They wanted me to find the part and then order it through them, honestly I went to them so I didn't have to do the work myself then pay them as a middle man, if I find the part number myself I might as well order it from the company myself. I'd been in there a few times after looking for ammo that always seemed to be higher priced than ordering online even with shipping. My most recent visit was a xfer I had them do for a rifle I bought off Gunbroker.com and they charged me almost a hundred bucks... I've since found these folks at JRZarms4u@gmail.com who don't carry much stock at the time of this writing but are the friendliest business I've dealt with in a long time. They do all my xfers now. read more

I get disgusted when I drive past the place. I've been there twice. Let me start by saying I like the idea of supporting a local gun shop. But, let me tell you about my experience. On the first visit, I was looking for a rilfe scope to go on a .22. Bear Arms had nothing in stock, but the lady behind the counter told me that they could order it for me if I knew exactly what I wanted. Well, if I knew exactly what I wanted, I could order it myself from Amazon, Midway, Brownells, etc, The whole point of supporting a local gunshop, & paying retail is you get to compare items and prices. If you're lucky, the sales staff knows what customers are happy with, and how the products work, etc. Going to a shop, you're pying 10% to 40% over internet prices, and you should expect a level of service for this fee. You will NOT get this from Bear Arms. What you will get fom Bear Arms is over-priced items, and a staff without a clue. Also, on this first visit, the lady tried to sell me a stripped AR15 lower receiver for $250.00. These were plastic, low-priced lowers that usually sell for $60-$75.00. Now, we all understand that scalpers and scalper prices are normal during "gun scares" but when a Gun-shop jacks-up the prices during the "craze", well that just wrong. Consumers don't forget crap-moves like that. A few months later I reuned to Bar Arms because I was hunting for Ammo. Bear Arms had a shelf full of over-priced ammo. I subsequently learned that they send crews of people to clean out Wal-Mart's ammo, and then re-sell the Wal-Mart ammo at way-over inflated prices. I'm talking $100.00 for a box of .357 ammo, and $150.00 for a brick of .22LR that they paid $25.00 for. I know times are tough, but again: consumers don't forget crap-moves. Again, they generally don't know what they are talking about, and their prices are over the top. It's like talking to idiots. I understand gun-shops that have "Big Money" tied up in inventory and they have a huge selection of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, etc. These shops offer variety, and have employees that understand the products. In contrast, "Bear Arms" has very little. There's a few rows of over-priced used reloading gear that looks like they bought it at a yard sale. I stay away. I buy 99% of my needed items on line, and then make a trip to Turners if I need to purchase an actual firearm. The take-away here is: Stay away. read more
