They've recently remodeled the store and it's better than ever ! lots and lots of merchandise ,good prices! I was helped for a long time in the paint department by a wonderful woman named Krystal -very knowledgeable and really cared about getting me the exact shade of special paint that I needed for my home ...revisited the store a couple days later to get some other supplies and everyone who helped me was very kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and sincerely wants you to have a good customer experience ...whoever does the hiring here is amazing. I have had mulitple projects for the past 6 months, and needed everything from special paint and supplies, screws, screen repairs, and tools. they had everything I needed and were so helpful in making the colors I needed, all 12 of them, always greeted when I come in and even now know my name. Do NOT expect help. I asked sales person where to find a particular item; I included the precise brand of replacement part I needed. I was told which aisle to look in. Part not there, seems store no longer carries that brand, tried to ask if other brand would substitute but I was ignored for further help. I have lived in 29 Palms for 33 yrs and frequented this Ace Hardware. Since new owners took over the service has dropped to ZILCH! After many trips back thinking it might be better next time, no such luck. Will not go back again. Wasted time, wasted trip. read more

Firstly, the workers here have always been helpful and friendly to me and I've been shopping here for over a year. Secondly, they are now a legit Ace Hardware so if you want to get discounts get the ace mobile app. I got it just a few weeks ago at the advice of one of the workers and have already got over $180 in savings so far. They give you money for spending and also send you deals every once in a while like "spend $150 and get $25 off" which is pretty cool. read more

So I actually live closer to the "other" hardware store in town. But I come here because of the service. Every time I have come in I have been greeted at the door or shortly after. I get asked what I need or if I need help finding it. When I do get help, the people are always nice and helpful. When I just need to grab something and check out, the cashiers are equally as nice. I worked in the service industry for 35 years.....great service is how you keep clients. Amazing job guys...keep it up! read more

Used to shop here all the time. However, store has new owners, clearly not acclimated to our neighborhood. Help is not very knowledgeable, and the prices are high. Example: a scale eliminator in-line filter for swamp cooler, priced at $16.84 at Home Depot; same item at Desert Hardware is $29.95. I realize that many items might be a bit higher for the convenience of shopping in 29 Palms, but really! Don't know how they justify that! read more

*sigh* I see these great reviews and I wonder if I'm doing something wrong here. Moved here last year and went right in there. The employees were surly and rather rude. Offered no help. Same with second experience. Same in the third and at that point I said no more. I'm from a small town so I prefer to spend local but I can't stand bad service and I stopped. I also don't understand the weekend thing, seems like SOMEBODY would want to be paid to work on the weekend. I too do my home improvement on the W/E. But mostly for me, it is the service. What a savior this place is. I thought that I was going to have to drive all the way into Yucca Valley for small hardware odds and ends. We drove past this place (the storefront is actually the rear of the store) and hesitated to stop because it looked like a small hole in the wall hardware store. It's a legitimate ACE, though the name is Desert Hardware, with pretty much everything that you would need. Everything from plumbing, to electrical, tools, hand tools, swamp cooler needs, and so on. I just got a house in 29 P, and it's really good to know we don't have to drive 28 miles to buy a 1" PVC elbow! The employees are also really cool, very small-town, which I love. read more

One of the best hardware store options in the area. Super nice people and a growing inventory of product choices. What I love most about independent hardware stores is that you can find things there you won't find at Home Depot and other large box stores. Jessica the manager-clerk is really knowledgeable and helpful. If you don't want to waste a day and gas driving down valley all the way to Home Depot this is an excellent option. A good old skool something for everyone hardware store, exactly what a small town like ours needs. They understood the certain lug bolt I needed, were helpful and friendly and didn't try to upsell me something I didn't need. They tested that the bolt fit into the table leg I brought in to make sure it fit. They are great about doing everything possible during the pandemic to make their premises safe. They have a sign saying "masks required" even when they were not required by the state and a social distancing sign. They have clear points marking social distancing in the line, all the staff were wearing masks and mindful of social distancing. The counters were clean and there was a slight wiff of disinfectant, a good sign. It is great to have a real Mom and Pop hardware store without the chain store hype and upselling and friendly staff whose advice I can trust. read more

This is the store called Desert Hardware - one of 2 hardware stores in Twentynine Palms. Enter in back. Call ahead for store hours. They also have Sunday hours. They're very friendly and appreciate your business. Also - if you're from out of town and plan ahead, you can order anything from ACE Hardware online and have it sent to this hardware store for pick up - pretty convenient! Save yourself a trip to Yucca and buy here when you can. They don't carry lumber but they have most of the basics, including pellets for wood stoves. Plus, like I said above - you can order anything you want online from ACE and have it sent here for pick up - pretty neat! read more

This is a "mom and pop" style Ace Hardware run by locals. They are very appreciative of your business, especially since most people head over to Home Depot instead for any little thing. The prices are mostly reasonable, but finding what you need can be somewhat tricky, as items are tucked into different corners of the building. I remember back when it use to have a car/rv parts store up front. you can tell its run by men and not a female cuz there are spider webs and dust all over lol. They always helped me, often without even asking for help. They went beyond expected, helping me install a fuse in my microwave, and other things. I guess at times, i had to ask for help, but this is to be expected, as they can not read minds. I do no know about Sundays, but i wish all business would take Sundays off. read more
