I spilled coffee on my laptop keyboard two weeks ago. Within about five minutes I was getting an error message. I called around to different computer service centers the PC Service Center gave me the most affordable quote. $85 for a simple cleaning. If there were shorts and I needed new parts they would simply charge me for the parts above the $85. So the 85 was a simple flat rate for the labor on the entire job. nothing hidden. i knew upfront what all the charges would be. It turns out that my computer did not need new parts so all I paid was the $85 for the cleaning (thank you!!). This was far and away the best price. The next closest was drop zone (california location). They would've charged me $90 for a diagnostic. Then that $90 would've been put towards the repairs/cleaning; im pretty sure they would've charged me over 90 for the cleaning, tho. Everything else was much higher after that. I was getting quoted $150 and $200 from all the other PC repair places in Reno/sparks, and some of them were not very transparent or forthcoming about pricing over the phone. PC service center does have a lot of work, so you might have to wait a few days to a week simply because they work in order received. i highly recommend this business. No need to go anywhere else unless you want something overnighted. They also have laptops for sale if yours is busted. Prices look like they range from about $300 and higher. Their store is cool. They have old Macintoshes and other tech on display for decoration.

I came to Truckee hoping that the laptop would last long enough for me to finish my assignment. It didn't -- what flickered in the Southwest terminal at Lindbergh went black in Truckee -- and I was pretty desperate. Sierra Tahoe Computer had the parts, plus an Enter key which I'd long given up on. They indeed sold me a charger but not the right model for my computer. I was out of town for a few weeks and when I went to return the item one of the tech guys insisted that it was the right charger and that it must be the battery on my computer. I ended up replacing the battery myself, and still had charging issues. At this point I brought the computer to Apple, which I should have done in the first place. Wouldn't you know, before I could even tell the gentleman at the Genius Bar what my problem was he told me I had the wrong charger for my computer. (it was meant to power a smaller computer such as a powerbook). I purchased the correct item from Apple and went to return the wrong charger to Lake Tahoe Online. Upon arrival I was greeted by a gentleman at the front desk who gladly set up my return. He then told me he had to get approval and grabbed the owner of the store. When she came out she did not let me explain why I wanted to return it and immediately told me no returns. I then tried to explain what the problem was but still she kept interrupting me mid sentence saying no returns. Eventually she threatened to call the police on me if I did not leave the property. I decided to let that happen and when the police arrived she simply said, "it's my business and I can operate it the way I please." I ended up leaving with no refund. All in all, i ended up spending $95 dollars for a charger that won't charge my computer, $80 for a new battery (not purchased at the store), and another $90 for the correct charger at Apple. I will never step foot in this store ever again unless wide spread looting takes place in the North Lake Tahoe area.
