They charge $50 just to come and do an estimate. No other tree company does this. Why would I pay them just to hear what they can do?

This company charged me $50 up front for them to come out to assess the health of one of our trees and provide me with an estimate. Well that was over 2 weeks ago. They took my money but never followed through with the estimate. I called them after a week and a half to see why I hadn't been contacted. The person that answered the phone said she would get the arborist to send it but once again no further response from them. I had previously hired someone to remove several trees on my property but the job was too intensive for his skill level. We had a dying water oak in our front yard that could no longer be saved. We called Jerry with Independent because they did a great job of trimming trees on our property before. Once again, Jerry quoted us a great price and we scheduled the removal. On the day scheduled, Curtis and his crew arrived right on time and started the work. They were very polite, professional and accommodating. The tree was removed with really no damage to the surrounding vegetation, lights and irrigation. It was a quality job. We scheduled nearly a month out, and they remembered the date, arrived on time, and I didn't have to do anything. They brought all the equipment needed, efficiently and safely took down a super hazardous tree. They even went above and beyond what I originally asked and trimmed a few other trees in my yard. Been dealing with these folks several years, and they are the best. I had a giant oak fall down in my yard for no good reason, and Jerry came out immediately. He looked at the situation, told me the rest had to come down, NOW. In the morning there was a whole crew and a bucket truck at my house. Jerry said some incompetent tree folks had trimmed that oak, causing way too much weight at the top, so eventually the tree split and fell over. Lesson learned about letting a non certified arborist trim my trees. Great service from real professionals. Theres a huge difference. read more

I was looking to have 2 trees removed and several others trimmed. Got several other quotes before Independent Tree Service to come out. Jordan came out and is Extremely friendly and pointed out a few things to save me money on my jobs. A few weeks later they came out on time and removed my trees after a walk around so everyone knew what was supposed to happen. The workers were great and did an amazing job. We came to them with a major project of removing 2 large trees after finding they were causing damage to our property, and Jordan assisted us from our initial inquiry through to completion of the project. He was extremely helpful, friendly and courteous (to us and our neighbors as well), and was always quick to respond when we had questions. From the very beginning Independent was great Jordan Upcavage came out to give us the appraisal for the job we needed to have completed he was very professional and very knowledgeable about what needed to be done, the trees in the yard and how to trim the trees and keep them healthy.  He gave us a quote of 1800.00 for everything we needed done which was almost half of what the other two companies I had quotes from had given me.  I loved the customer service I had gotten from the begging.  The day the services where to be done we couldn't be their at the begging but we where told from the begging that we did not need to be there for them to do the job I just like to be around when I am having stuff being done around my home.  The team that was sent worked hard and got everything completed fairly quickly.  Once they had completed the job they walked me around the house showing what was done and I was very impressed our years looks so much better with what they cut down.  They cleaned up everything really well they raked the leaves up made sure all the limbs had been picked up including the small ones they also used a blower to blow all the side walks off and the room our years looked better after they left.  I have nothing but good to say about Independent Tree service.  I will defiantly recommend them to anyone looking for a company who does tree work. read more

Our big magnolia tree had been planted very close to the house and was in danger of ultimately damaging the house and our water lines with its roots. Jordan gave us an estimate for removal - he was very knowledgeable and very professional. Austin and his crew showed up and explained how they would cut the tree. They performed the work quickly and efficiently by removing limbs, climbing up the tree and carefully cutting piece by piece so as not to damage the house. They were done in no time and cleaned up all debris beautifully. Calvin came two days later to grind the stump - he examined the surrounding area with great care before grinding, moving our irrigation lines out of the way so as not to damage them. He was done in no time too and also did a wonderful job of cleaning up! Everyone was an expert at their jobs, hard-working, polite and extremely professional in every way. Independent Tree Service was hired by the RV resort I live in. On July 25th, 2014, 4 of their employees did a dangerous whirlwind tour of the park. I was inside my new Airstream Trailer while they trimmed some trees above my trailer. 7' branches were being tossed down from the guy in the bucket truck. Two of these branches hit and damaged the aluminum on my Airstream. I came outside once the guy had quit throwing branches and saw the damage. At first, the bucket guy took responsibility of the damage and offered to call his boss, Jordan Upcavage, then all of them left the park. I called our maintenance manager who in turn called Mr. Upcavage. Mr. Upcavage told the park maintenance manager to have my insurance company contact his insurance company for repairs. I got an estimate from my insurance company, Nationwide Insurance, for $1300.00. I heard nothing from Independent Tree service for about a week. Yesterday my insurance investigator called to tell me she had contacted Mr. Upcavage. Mr. Upcavage refused to accept responsibility for any of the damage. He told her that his employees all said the damage was already there, even though they had previously taken responsibility for the damage. (I have before and after photos). He also said that he trusted his employees and denied ever telling the maintenance manager to have the insurance companies get together. This guy and his employees are nothing more than common thieves and liars. Buyer beware of this company. I'm sure I am not their first victim. read more
