Mixed Grill was served in Mini Tandoor with charcoal to keep the meat warm. This was unique.

The food was delicious. The owner Sachin Lalit is friendly. Service was good. We were 8 people in party for dinner. We ordered Delhi ki Nali Nehari , Mixed Grill, Jaipuri Baigan Bharta, Aloo Tikki Chat, Achari Paneer, Madras Chicken. We all enjoyed good food. I was visiting from Los Angeles, California and we were happy to have delicious dinner at this restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant for Indian food. I like the Mixed grill came out in in a mini tandoor and the Chicken meat was falling off the bones. We had a little chat with the owner and he is proud of his restaurant. Thank you for making our evening memorable in Ottawa. We will visit you next time we will be in Ottawa. Hasu Patel Los Angeles, California, USA

This is a great find off the main Byward Market area. I stopped in for dinner and was not disappointed in the tasty Indian eats. The only place it was lacking was that service was a little slow, especially considering that the restaurant was near empty. I ordered the vegetable pakora and gobi 65 to start, the pakora that were onions were great, but the rest were mostly just potatoes and a bit soggy, overall, the tangy gobi 65 was the highlight of the meal as the goat vindaloo was mostly bone with a very thin curry.

Relatively cheaper prices than other Indian restaurants in the Byward market. The outside of this restaurant looked a little dark and dingy but had a clean and modern interior. Service was great and they accepted the discount on Yelp, although hesitant at first. Wished the biriyani was less wet and less salty but the curry was delicious. Would not recommend the veggie kebabs as it tasted like a spicy falafel.

No clue. How to rate this place. Did i like the food? Definitely Yes. Will i come back? Maybe not. We had chicken 65, Sarson chicken kabab, chicken bhuns and egg chettinad. Egg chettinad was sweat. Never had a sweet South Indian dish. But it tasted pleasantly different. The sarson chk kabab was the best. Have it with a beer. Bhuna chicken was carefully prepared. Good place with nice location Removed 1 stars as they charged me for onions

Dinner by myself. Had the Bhuna lamb upgraded to the platter. Excellent! All the food was very fresh, lots of flavors. Very good service. Would definitely come back here again

Look at the size of that naan! Garlic one didn't last but was same size with much fresh garlic.

Salang Kabob House has been on my list of places to try for some time now, so I was thrilled when I saw that they had a BOGO (buy one get one free) special on UberEats. It was $19.99 BOGO for a Mixed Shami Platter. So this is what I got. Each platter came with a ground chicken kabob, a ground beef kabob, rice, salad and naan. It was a lot of food and a great deal. I enjoyed the chicken shami, but I found the beef shami a bit gamey. The kabobs had a good flavour to them. The rice was soft and fluffy and nicely seasoned, but a little bit oily for my tastes. The salad was iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions. Vegetables were fresh and crisp. The salad came with a spicy red sauce, which I liked, and a creamy dressing, which I didn't use. The naan was tasty and I appreciated that it didn't have pesky sesame seeds sprinkled on it like some other places. I ordered for pickup and the food was ready in about 15-20 minutes. Pickup was quick and efficient. The restaurant has lots of seating inside. There's free parking available in front of the restaurant. The parking is shared with neighbouring businesses. (102)

Rounding up from 3.5 stars…read more I got the Sultani Platter, with came with one tikka and one shami kabob, rice, salad, and naan. I chose chicken tikka and beef shami. I also upgraded to qabulli rice instead of just regular, and Salang salad instead of regular. I wanted to try the Qabulli rice because it's Afghanistan's national dish. It had the addition of julienned carrots and sultana raisins, and I believe it typically has sliced almonds as well, but this one didn't. The Salang salad had the addition of feta and kalamata olives, along with the iceberg and romaine Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red onion, and pickled pepper. The platter had some weight to it! The salad came with both ranch and Greek dressing. They were fine, though I wish there was some other house dressing. The chunks of feta were great, softer than I expected and less dense, less salty. All in all, the salad wasn't anything special, but I did appreciate the fresh component to the dish. I'm not usually a fan of chicken breast, but the chicken was very moist and flavourful. Beef shami is always a safe bet for me. This one was a little more done/drier and saltier than I would've liked, but still good and the flavour was there. Both had the grill flavour that I enjoy. The tomato chutney that came with it was nice. It was almost like a fresh salsa but not chunky, and with a little spicy kick to it. The kabuli pulao (though they spell it "qabulli" rice) was tasty. They were very generous with the raisins and I wasn't big on the sweetness. The carrots were cooked and tasted a bit sweet to me also, but not sure if it was just the raisins cooked with them. Maybe the almonds would've helped cut the sweetness. I really liked the basmati rice itself, which was flavoured. It was great to try the qabulli rice, but I think I'll get the regular rice next time. The plain naan was good, nice a fresh, crispier on the outside and doughier on the inside. If you've never had Afghan naan before, it's not the same as Indian naan. Indian naan is thinner, flakier, and larger, whereas Afghan naan is thicker, denser. I do wish I had something to dip it in or had it buttered or something, but it's great bread and I had already filled up on the rice, so I actually split it and saved the other half to use in a sandwich later. My husband got the beef shami platter, which came with two shamis, and an upgrade to garlic naan. I tried some of the naan, and while good, I found salty. Maybe they used garlic salt? I also got the ayran/doogh to drink and the firnee for dessert. Doogh is like a salted yogurt drink that I've only tried maybe once in the past, so I thought I'd try it again. It was okay, but I couldn't finish the whole bottle. The firnee was homemade and very tasty. Not at all as sweet as I expected, and I loved how creamy/milky it was, and the crushed cardamom and finely chopped pistachios on top. It was perfect. Will definitely order from here again.

A few years have passed since my first visit to Ottawa Kabab, and this time the trip was completely different. Instead of traveling for work, I came to Ottawa with a group of friends, and our timing couldn't have been better. The restaurant was full of energy as everyone gathered to watch the Egypt vs. Argentina FIFA match. We were cheering for Egypt, and although the game ended in a heartbreaking 2-3 loss, the atmosphere inside the restaurant made the evening memorable regardless of the final score. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and it reminded me why I enjoyed this place the first time. The mixed kebab platter was cooked over charcoal with a deep smoky flavor, while the hummus was fresh, creamy, and finished with a generous drizzle of olive oil. The grilled tomato, onion, pickles, warm bread, and garlic sauce rounded everything out perfectly. We also shared a large rice platter with lamb, which was tender, flavorful, and easily enough for the table. My mint lemonade was refreshing and balanced the grilled food really well. What stood out most this visit was the atmosphere. The restaurant was packed with families and football fans, yet the staff kept everything moving smoothly. Food arrived surprisingly quickly considering how busy they were, and everyone remained friendly throughout the match. One thing I didn't like it became quite loud during the biggest moments of the game, making conversation at the table a little difficult. Even though our team didn't come away with the win, we certainly did when it came to the overall experience. Ottawa Kabab continues to be one of the places I look forward to visiting whenever I'm in the city.

They sell Pide under the name Ottawa Kabab too, but bigger and more expensive, the ones I got are smaller. I got the meat one ($4.99 BOGO ) and the cheese and sausage one (also $4.99 BOGO). Both were delicious. The meat Pide was filled with ground meat. It was flavourful and smelled so good. The cheese and sausage Pide had lots of cheese and little cubes of sausage. It was tasty, but I preferred the meat one. Although my husband liked the cheese and sausage better, so I guess it depends on your tastes. At any rate, we both agreed that they were delicious. I ordered on UberEats for pickup. Staff were friendly and efficient. They even wrote "Thank you" with a smiley face on my takeout box, lol. The restaurant itself has some seating inside as well as a patio. The parking situation is the only downfall. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, but there are not too many spaces and it's very tight. Difficult to maneuver around. Street parking is available but not the easiest to find nor convenient. Glad this place popped up on my UberEats deals :)

I added 2 orders of the Sigari Boregi ($7.49) as well. I called in my order and it was ready for pickup in 30 minutes. Service was quick and efficient. The food was a hit. As expected, my dad loved the variety. My brother and sister-in-law enjoyed it too. We were 6 adults and it was plenty of food. We even had some leftovers. All the meats were delicious. Very flavourful and moist and tender. The rice was plain white rice, but the texture was great. Soft and fluffy. The bulgur was also soft and fluffy. The meats also came with grilled tomatoes and grilled jalapeno peppers. The peppers were really spicy. There were also 2 small containers of a creamy garlicky sauce, which was also good. The salad was excellent. In addition to lettuce, there were red onions, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. It came with 2 small containers of creamy salad dressing and a small container of oil. We didn't use the oil, but the dressing was delicious. The Sigari Boregi were rolls of phyllo pastry with salty cheese. They were crispy and tasty, but a bit too salty for my liking. Although we got takeout, they have plenty of seats for dining in. The meal was a bit more than what we usually spend, but it was well worth it. Lots of free parking available in the plaza where the restaurant is located. Be warned that the non-creamy sauce that looks like salad dressing is very spicy. At around 2 pm, I felt like a late lunch. I did a search and found Silk Road Kabob House nearby. Perfect! It's located in a large plaza with lots of parking. I backed into a spot and walked in. There were two diners when I had arrived. I had a nice woman welcome me and was my server during my entire stay. This place has combo specials. I had brought my appetite and ordered two of them: - Mantu (six) - Lamb combination (lamb kabob and koobideh kabob) with salad and basmati rice I got water and a Diet Coke to start. Both were cold and perfect to enjoy. I got starter naan (silk bread) with butter. The naan was so good. It was baked fresh and hot, allowing the butter to effortlessly melt on it. So good! I ate the whole thing, which I normally don't do. My mantu came out first. I got six of these steamed dumplings. They were filled with onions, and ground beef and lamb. They were drizzled with yogurt, with split peas sprinkled around each dumpling. OMG! They were fantastic. Each one was packed full of flavourful filling. The wrapper was the perfect thickness that kept the filling in, but wasn't too thick that made you chew incessantly. The yogurt and chick peas were paired so well with the dumplings. I highly recommend getting mantu here. My lamb combination came out next. There was so much food. I surprised myself by polishing off everything because the entire meal was delicious. The lamb kabob was yummy. The morsels of lamb were tender and seasoned nicely. The lamb koobideh was a ground lamb kabob that was nicely seasoned and equally as scrumptious as the lamb morsels. Excellent! The salad was fresh and crisp. I enjoyed it so much. The basmati rice was generous. It didn't have a whole lot of flavour, so I recommend mixing it up with the proteins and salad. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and all was well. Before I left, I used the washroom. It was clean. It was to the left of the counter at the back of this eatery. I let the nice woman know that the food was excellent. She was pleased. I wished her a pleasant day and left that I waddled out the door with a content tummy. I miss the food at this eatery.
