Last day of a 10 day trip to spain, and we were craving Indian food. And Indian Aroma in Madrid delivered exactly what we needed. The restaurant is well kept, great ambiance. The wait staff and the owner are warm and welcoming. We got butter chicken, kadhai paneer, bhendi bhaaji (okra), butter naan and basmati rice. The food was top class, authentic Indian taste. The bhendi bhaaji in particular was spectacular. Highly recommended. We also got mango lassi and Kingfisher beer to complement an excellent meal. The kids and us give it a 5 thumbs up!!! I see Yelp isn't popular in Spain yet, but I wanted to give a shout out to this place! I ate here 2 nights in a row. Food is really good. Although I didn't get to try any non-vegetarian plates, the vegetarian food is so good that you don't miss any non-vegetarian food. Between 2 nights I ordered: Aloo Gobhi, Karaahi Paneer, Aloo Matar, Vegetarian Briyaani and Pakoras, Aloo Tikki for appetizers. This is a great Indian restaurant if you really want to try true North Indian food. As an Indian living in madrid and missing my indian food I am a regular at this place. The place is owned by an Indian and has a typical north indian cook. We could tell that by the taste of the food, but also conformed it later with the staff. The staff is very friendly and we chat with them long hours whenever we go to eat there. My spanish professors also prefer to go here. It has typical Indian interiors done and you can feel the Indian traditions. You can also select if you want less spicy or more or max(like true Indians) lolzz.. The food can be a bit expensive but totally worth the price. I would prefer to go here rather than cheap lavapies bangladeshi restaurants which have pathetic Indian food taste. We were deciding between a couple of Indian restaurants in the same area, and we are so glad we finally chose this one. We are vegetarian and there are not a lot of places in Madrid with vegetarian options, but this was an amazing exception. The food was so authentic and the spiciness was just right. The atmosphere truly reminded me of India but was bright and cheery at the same time. And the best part was the service, it was nice to be served by genuinely friendly and caring people in a foreign country. Hands down the best Indian food my husband and I have ever had. We were in Madrid for 5 days and this was the only restaurant during our 2 week stay in Spain that we returned to more than once. In NYC we eat Indian often and have our go-to places but IA was just incredible. The staff was fluent in English, menus were available in English, atmosphere was quaint and romantic and the food was an explosion of flavors in our mouth with each bite. We didn't fall in love with Madrid but we'd come back here just for the food. It couldn't have been better! The menu was also very vegan friendly (which we are) and staff knew what our restrictions were so we were thrilled. Service was great too - well worth it. We made a reservation on a weeknight however it wasn't necessary. There's also bars on the same block so it's a great area to extend your evening without going too far. read more

We simply must have Indian food in every major city when we are in Europe, so based on reviews we tried Indian Aroma first. We were politely addressed in English once aaked our server upon asking, which was nice. I ordered us veggie samosas, and I ended up wanting to try the mushroom curry, while my date ordered Baigan Bartha, and we supplemented with plain paratha. The samosas were really bland. Although they were freshly cooked, they tasted old. As if the ingredients were old. Mushroom curry came out a little dufferently than I've ever seen them before; the curry was chunky, almost like a marinara sauce, and must have been tomato or red pepper based, because the flavor bordered on Italian. My date liked it, but I could tell the mushrooms were canned, and overall it was just unsatisfying. The baigan bartha was the best dish we tasted, with a nuce smokey flavor and delightfully light texture. The blend of spices, heaviest on cardamom, was really nice. Unfortunately, the paratha was made with white flour, and wasn't really paratha. Bummer. Polite and prompt service, and a nice baigan bartha. Really though, all things considerd, for the price (35€ for two dishes, samosa, and a coke), this place is a solid 2 stars. This can't be the best Indian in Madrid, right? read more

If you have a map, and are in the vicinity of the SOL Metro stop, then Indian Aroma is a place worth seeking out. The restaurant was located on a rather quiet street, and when we sat down, we were the only people there. It's Spain though, and sometimes it's hard to tell when places are supposed to be busy. The waitstaff was friendly and patient as we struggled with our Spanish. The staff understood English as well, so when we gave up on our bad Spanish, we were still able to communicate. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. We had samosas for the appetizer portion of the meal. The chicken samosa was dry, and the spinach samosa was just ok. I'd stay away from them. The main dishes were very tasty. We ordered chicken jalfreezy and requested that they make it super spicy, because that's how we like it. We found it to have a nice hint of spice (could've been spicier) and a bit of sweetness. It was a wonderful dish that did not get spicy until the very end. We had another spicy chicken dish, and found it to be great. The serving sizes are not the biggest, but the food is rich and hearty. At first glance, we thought we'd have to order more, but by the end of the meal, we were struggling to finish. In summary, Indian Aroma is a nice place to get Indian food, and actually was the 2nd best culinary experience I had while in Spain. The people are nice, the space clean, the food yummy and affordable (for Spain). In a city where bland tapas dishes and paella abound, Indian aroma was a great way to spice up our trip. read more

I'd say this is the restaurant to go for an authentic Indian meal!! We went here a while back during our trip to Madrid and it was closeby to our hotel. The food was great, and we visited there twice! Do watch out, the place opens pretty late at night, due to happy hour etc. The food itself is very good, the dishes were all unique and flavorful. All of the food was authentic Indian, including the naan and dessert. However, the food was pretty expensive! I don't know if this happens across Madrid and Spain, but they do not give water to you, you have to buy it separately. Altogether, this place is a great place for Indian food. Given the reviews averaged a 4.4, I would say it's only "ok" Indian food. I've definitely had better. It was lacking in flavor. A true Indian food experience is like the feeling you get as a kid in a candy store (and you can't get enough). We had the onion fries as an appetizer, nann, chicken masala and lamb roganjosh. Overall, decent food but not the best. **I also got really sick in the middle of the night, which was not a pleasant experience either. My boyfriend and I ate here while on vacation in Madrid and really enjoyed the food. If your spanish isn't that great, no problem. They have an english menu and speak english. Real and Authentic Indian Food. The butter naan is really soft, and the food is great. As vegetarians, the restaurant offered plenty of options. When in Europe, Indian this has to be one of the best so far. Serving sizes are small though - one of the reasons for the 4 stars. The restaurant is also small and service is slow during dinner time. Best Indian I've had in Spain! The service was very quick and the food is especially tasty. It's a little pricy and rice costs extra, which is something that's different from other places I've been, but the food is still delicious and satisfying.
