I think I've visited for the last time. Although they did add Biriyani to the steam table this trip, other than that it's the same butter chicken, Chicken masala, Paneer, squash and potato, soggy pakora, chicken wings, :(. I did go in on the discounted buffet rate day @ $14 for the first time. I wish them well but I'd much rather spend an extra $3 for the Indian flavor, spices and not have to wait on the damn naan. As far as the service it's a great place to sit in silence as you'll have to ask for more water as they 2 workers walk by to ring people up. Atmosphere well after several months the ceiling is still in need of repair over the buffet it appears. I love Indian cuisine but they need to do better. read more

I used to eat there on a regular basis. Last time, I needed to take it to go. The lady (manager?) was very rude to my friend and I. We wanted the buffet, which gives you only on clam shell container, NO aluminum foil for the bread, no small cup for the Raita, nothing. I was forced to order Raita to go. When I got home, I thought it tasted odd, and 2 days later I found out why. The lady must have given me old Raita, because by the second day, the lid was bloating. Way to treat a long time customer, who has followed them to all of the locations, and been a good customer for many many years. I have brought new customers to them in the past, but that is DONE! There ARE other Indian cuisine restaurants in town, I'm sure they will love to earn mine and my friend's business. read more

The food is amazing but every time I go there the service is really terrible And every time I go there I have a different server but they've all been terrible. They have been rude And they don't know anything about the menu. One server told me he couldn't split the check in half Evenly but when I asked the hostess she said yes they can do that. read more

Greeted quickly at the door and seated immediately. Soft music playing. Clean floors and tables. Bathroom clean and well supplied. We ordered the vegetable samosa chat appetizer and cucumber raita. House salad. Butter chicken masala, chili chicken, tandoori chicken, assorted naan, and Indian coffee. I'm telling you this was a TON OF FOOD with excellent flavors, fresh, inviting aromas, and some great display upon arrival to the table during serving. We have food for snacking later. Food is amazing, but the last 2 times I've been here I've had to wait an hour for bread, and 15-20 min just to get service. I've called in carry out orders and they'll say 10-15 min and I end up waiting an hour. The other thing is the price. Don't plan on eating here unless 75$ for a dinner for two is acceptable to you. Wonderful potential, but it's getting worse over time and gradually emptier on the inside every time we come here. I want this place to succeed, but I also want my food less than an hour after I order it. ...Well I was going to leave it there, but an Indian family of 7 came in 30 min after me and just got their bread before me. We came here for the first time this week. We did the lunch buffet. Everything was very fresh and the flavors were great. They brought out fresh naan to the tables as it was made. We were all disappointed that there wasn't more spice in the dishes. With that being said, I will definitely go back and order a specific dish and ask them to spice it up. Food is subpar. Flavor is lacking. One time I ordered an egg biryani and saw that the egg smelled and the yolk was gray. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back with telling me that they said, "how are we supposed to know how old it is, they get the boiled eggs from somewhere else"... so quality is poor. Been to many Indian restaurants and buffets and this one is one of the ones I remember for all the wrong reasons. Locals only know this place so how would they know this isn't good. Have eaten at Indian oven many times and order the same thing every time. Today I ordered my usual order (butter chicken) and naan bread. Wondering if they changed their recipe because the food was just bland and had no heat. Needed so much salt to have some flavor to it. The naan bread was so "heavy". Staff is very nice, courteous polite. Ambiance is good. I ordered Chole Bhature, which is special chick pea curry made with onion ginger garlic, little tomato, pomegranate seeds, tamarind, etc served with Julian ginger, onion, lemon wedges, pickle etc. Which was not given to me or offered. When I asked about condiments, I was told I didn't ask, that they don't offer because most Customers are non Indians, they don't know about these condiments, so that is why they don't offer. But that is what makes food authentic. Chole was regular chick pea curry made with tomato paste, was bland. which is not Chole that goes with Bhature .To me not authentic food. read more

While driving from Austin to Colorado Springs, made a stop at this indian restaurant to get some spicy chicken biriyani take out. I have lived in Austin, Dallas and San Jose where they claim to have the "best" indian food. The chicken biriyani here beats them all! It's the best indian chicken biriyani I have had in the US. What an awesome place! The Indian oven is a gem of a place in Amarillo! So cozy and comfy seats and the while environment takes you out of Texas and transports you into a fun flavor of India. The music, the lighting and design makes you feel like you are in India. The service is also outstanding! So many details I can't even remember them all but the place is a must try if you like you change things up a bit. The have so many naan options and have delicious soups. They also have salad which was a pleasant surprise that wasn't expected from the group I was with. The Tomato Shorba soup is how our meal started, super hot which is exactly what we wanted in the cold weather that was going on outside. One person in my group got veggie tikka masala, the other got Navratan Korma and I got the Chicken Jalfrezi. I totally recommend these dishes if you are not sure which one to try. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and can help you with your menu if you need clarification on what to get or what items would best be to your liking. read more

The food was pretty good, but the server ruined our experience. This was my first time here and more than likely last. He did not greet our 3-top and then slammed our drinks on the table. We noticed he was friendly with other tables, but for some reason he did not have that same energy with us which we did nothing for him to act that way. When you first walk in the aroma is so wonderful it almost makes you faint. I was really hungry but I would have still enjoyed the wonderful meal if I wasn't. As fate would have it I hadn't had anything to eat yet all day except for an apple and a cup of coffee. Dinner prices are higher than lunch of course and I'm trying to keep to a travel budget so I ordered the Daal meal. At first it didn't look like a lot of food but it filled me up. The Daal was delicious, not too spicy at all, in fact I might order it a little more spicy next time because it was almost too mild. At first it looked like they weren't giving me much rice but when I was almost done with what was there, the server came around and asked if I wanted more. I didn't know if they charged for more rice but I went ahead and said yes. It turned out I wasn't charged any extra. It was nice that they make sure you don't run out. The Daal meal came with Naan bread and you are given a choice of regular or garlic. I ordered the garlic and loved it. It's obviously made with real garlic not some powdered sprinkle. I don't usually order drinks because I'm a very slow drinker and rarely finish one and I like to try and keep the cost down by not ordering ordinary things like soda. But I saw that they had the mango lassi on the menu so I ordered it. It was delicious also I couldn't finish it so I got it to go cup to bring it with me and finished it on the road. I enjoyed my meal so much I came back a couple of weeks later for the lunch buffet, $9.99. Wow, it was wonderful. I think they put out a little bit of everything they serve on the menu. I started with a couple spoonfuls of their delicious rice and then just put a spoonful of each item on top of or around that so that I tasted nearly everything there except maybe the salad. It looked good but I was out of room on my plate. There was mostly chicken, vegetarian, and goat meat dishes, rice and naan bread plus some fried bread that I did not taste although it looked good. I don't recall seeing any beef dishes now that I think about it. Doesn't matter. Everything was so good I enjoyed every single bite. I cleaned my plate and didn't waste anything. Then I went back and got a few pieces of fruit including cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew melon, grapes, orange slices and some yogurt sauce to dip them in. I also got a little bit more of the goat meat with some rice, a little more spinach and a touch more chicken in the curry sauce, although I may not getting that description right. Whatever it was it was delicious enough to try fitting a little bit more in my full tummy. I completely forgot about the mango lassi that I got last time or I would have ordered a glass in a to go cup. It would have been a perfect complement to the meal but I wasn't able to finish it last time and had to take the rest to go so I'm sure I couldn't have finished it after that Buffet this time either. I probably won't be in town long enough to double back here for another Buffet but I sure would enjoy it if I could! The restaurant is also very clean and the servers couldn't be more pleasant. Fantastic food and service. I moved away a year and a half ago but was the number one spot on my list to eat when visiting. I have also had to start eating vegan since the last time I ate there. The food is good. We've been here plenty of times. Just passed through on a Saturday evening. Took 10 min to get seated when there was no one else waiting for a seat. Got a booth, another 10-15 min to place an order, then (not exaggerating) a 1-hour wait. Never got our food because we left after seeing the group next to us that had just been seated a half hour after us began to get food delivered. I wouldn't even care about the wait, but I do care that not once were we even checked in on. No one bothered to look our way to give us an update. read more

I'm a huge fan of Indian food so I stopped by Indian Oven one evening and had the best meal. It was so delicious that I couldn't wait to come back. Fast forward a few weeks and my boyfriend and I decided to order to-go Indian food for a small dinner party we were having. And since I couldn't stop raving about how good it was we came here. We ordered over $100 worth of food and almost all of it was inedible. We sat and waited for the food so it would be fresh and hot when we got home. The chicken tikka were dry hard rocks of bland chicken, tandoori chicken was the same, dry, hard and cold. Neither of these dishes were fresh! The chicken madras was better but it only had four small pieces of chicken inside. The aloo gobi was fresh but the mixed vegetable korma was watery and bland. No creamy cashews or flavor. And the garlic naan was soggy and tasted like an old mushy pancake. It was sooo disappointing and embarrassing to serve to our guest. We didn't say anything as to not ruin the evening but seriously this restaurant is expensive and for the price we paid and the 40 minute wait, they should have paid attention to detail and made our food fresh! My boyfriend and I have eaten at Indian Oven twice, as we purchased a Groupon. Our first experience wasn't so great we felt as if we were ignored and felt as if the customer service needed improvement. We ordered... INDIAN COFFEE: I am not a coffee person; however, on occasion I do enjoy some coffee. I did not care much for the coffee that day but my boyfriend enjoyed it so much that he wanted another one, he had to ask the waitress twice. $2.50 MADRAS CHICKEN W/ MILD SPICE: (Traditional South Indian chicken curry with coconut milk): I thought it was a tad spicy for my preference however my boyfriend said it was perfect tasting because the spice doesn't over power the dish. $12.95 Lamb Curry w/ mild spice (Lamb meat cooked with special home made spices): I enjoyed this dish however it was too spicy for me. $15.95 BUTTER NAAN: Even though we ordered the Butter naan we received Garlic. The Garlic Naan was delicious, just the right amount of Garlic. $2.95 Our second experience: INDIAN COFFEE: This time I enjoyed the coffee that I ordered in addition to my boyfriend's. $2.50 CHICKEN CURRY W/ MILD SPICE: (Chicken pieces cooked in a traditional onion gravy): I enjoyed it but I can never proportion the rice vs. curry. I took the rest home. $10.95 MADRAS CHICKEN W/ MILD SPICE: (Traditional South Indian chicken curry with coconut milk): This time I didn't try it, my boyfriend ate all of it and told me how delicious it was. $12.95 BUTTER NAAN: After eating the Garlic Naan previously, the butter seemed plain, however, I did like how I was able to dip it in sauce and not have the garlic flavor. $2.95 Comparing the two experiences the second time was much better as we didn't feel ignored & were checked on at appropriate times. In retrospect they have amazing food but their attentiveness to customers is lacking. My husband and I were traveling from North Texas to Amarillo. We didn't think we'd find a restaurant that would meet both our vegetarian and gluten-free needs. But low and behold- Indian Oven! The waitstaff seemed a little unknowledgeable about gluten-free options, but were able to navigate the menu pretty well. It helped that there was an entire section devoted to veggie entrees. The food was DELICIOUS and we left full and happy. Side note: The place is decorated with beautiful colored glass and art. It was very welcoming and comfortable. read more

As we travel we try to stop in and enjoy what the local Indian Food has to offer, as there are several styles of cuisine from the Indian continent your never sure what your going to get (it's all good regardless). We arrived at 2:00 (14:00) and they close at 2:30, we were seated and our drink order taken. The buffet was still very well stocked so we went over and filled a plate. Ordered to go chicken vindaloo, saffron rice, garlic naan, and veggie samosa. Everything was packed well. The samosas were wonderful and came with 2 sauces. I ordered the saffron rice as the chicken didn't say if rice was included or not (it is). The saffron rice was just okay and didn't have much taste. The Garlic naan was a little burnt and that ruined the taste for me. The chicken vindaloo was delicious with lots of chicken and excellent, tasty sauce. Would order from here again. read more

We were stopping in Amarillo for the night and this was one of the few restaurants that was open late for delivery so we decided to give it a try. The food was really good and a nice break from the fast food we normally get for a long road trip. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it took over an hour for the food to be ready. We ended up eating later than expected but at least the food was nice and hot when it finally arrived. I recommend the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic Naan and saffron rice! read more
