A regular stop for us when in I40 in Texas. Great Punjabi food. The place is filled with punjabis and the guy at the counter talks to you in Punjabi! We were driving back to Oklahoma from visiting our daughter in Las Vegas NV & decided to stop for the night at the Vega Travel Center. We found out that they have an Indian restaurant here. We ordered Samosas and Curry Chicken. This has to be some of the best curry chicken I've ever had...!!! They give you enough food for 2 more meals. The restaurant isn't fancy but the food is 5 stars...!!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!! read more

Stumbled across this place on Google as we were looking for a restroom on our trip from Tucumcari to Dallas. Besides the great facilities, this place is essentially your nostalgia filled Punjabi dhaba. We ended up buying a bunch of stuff; food wise we had their samosa, aloo paratha and veg biryani. The paratha was hot and freshly made (something tells me you can't go wrong with any of the Punjabi options here) Personally the highlight for me was picking up a giant box of mango bites (candy). It doesn't matter if you're hungry or not- you MUST try this place (get it to-go and eat it the next day if needed)! Fresh, hot, steaming, flavorful samosa and mixed paratha chucked full of fresh herbs and whole spices served with date/tamarind chutney and tangy homemade "curd" aka yogurt like this cannot be found in an average Indian Restaurant. Nor can the Zeera/Jeera (cumin) lassi or the flavorful, oily, robust curries paired with fresh roti. These are the soul-filling pleasures of an Indian Dhaba (roadside, very authentic Indian restaurant)! While the restrooms were atrocious (have yet to find a Dhaba with nice restrooms) you can rest assured that so much love, care, and FLAVOR is introduced to each dish here at a level that will help you overlook this. My hot tip is to call your order in from 10-15 min away as the wait can be long - as is often the case for truly good things in life! I also recommend rest-rooming across the street prior to picking up food here. We were eager to return after a great stop last year and tonight's dinner did not disappoint, Delicious butter chicken and saag and samosas, and the naan was soo good. My husband and I were a bit hungry during a road trip but did not seem to want Subway or burgers. We decided to try the truck stop after checking local places on Yelp. I'm not going to lie, I was very nervous that this place was a truck stop, grocery, takeout place. We decided to keep it vegetarian and ordered one aloo gobi and 3 rotis with a samosa for each of us. Hubby also got a chai which was very large. Husband mentioned many truck drivers and families came in to pick up phone orders while he waited for his order so it made me feel assured that they had a good reputation and their food was fresh as their business was busy. This place is a gem hidden in plain sight! We are on a road trip through Texas and we're bored of eating flavorless burgers and fries with a side of sugar laden caffeine! We found this place near Amarillo and made a 30 mins detour to eat their delicious parathas. Their aloo gobi parathas are delicious and come with a hefty serving of curd(not yoghurt fresh homemade curd) and achaar. It's better food than some of the Indian places in India and the family that runs it is so sweet. Thank you uncle for reminding us of home so far away from home. Blew through west Texas this weekend and stumbled on this fantastic little restaurant. It's a classic "Panjabi Dhaba" - a truck stop with a store and small restaurant. Food is served buffet style - options are naturally limited but everything is great. Chicken curry, potatoes and peas, parathas (flatbreads) brushed with ghee, Punjabi chana (chickpea curry), dal (lentils). The food is kept piping hot on the buffet table; a separate station has condiments, lassi (mango with rose water and an unsweet lassi flavored with spices), and lots of fresh basmati rice speckled with caraway seed. Lunch for two came to $22, plus another $6 for lassis. In addition to the restaurant, there are shelves with cookery basics - spices, ghee, snacks, and a large assortment of cookies and other prepared foods. We bought some delicious pistachio biscuits to go. They also stock a few American snack items (pretzels, chips) and road supplies like Tylenol, paper products, and so on. The proprietors are Punjabi Sikhs; they greeted us with a smile, asked where we were from, and wished us well when we left. I regret not taking second helpings at the buffet. read more

Solid Indian food. Goat curry had nice spice and the goat was pretty tender, little fatty. Rice was good. Samosa was nicely fried and the outer breading had good flavor. Liked but Didn't love-love the samosa filling's flavor, just my preference. Other reviewers loved the samosas so there you go. We called ahead 15 mins and the food was ready when we arrived and it was VERY hot and remained hot as we traveled in the car. They gave us a plate to make it easier to eat in the car. Wow. I followed my nose to this place and glad i did. The food is great. I'm a long haul trucker. I will definitely make it a point to stop in when I'm in the area. The restaurant is super clean and the service is great. I'd rather eat at a medium size buffet like this one that does everything great than eat at a huge buffet that does everything so-so. Food was nice and hot but not dried out and the bread is awesome. Some nice vegetarian choices as well. A really nice, well-stocked truck stop also. Only two places in town, but luckily this restaurant was still open when I got there. A simple family run gas station + Indian buffet combo. Most of the dishes were vegetarian with maybe a chicken curry. But you know a place is the real deal when they have their own house made achar pickle relishes on each table. The food here was some of the best Indian I've had in a while (I'm from the UK and my wife is Indian- so I feel I know pretty well how it should taste) I even texted a photo of my plate to my mother-in-law to show her my unexpected find.
