I came to Indian Peaks for my dog's allergy issues and left feeling dismissed and overcharged. Dr. Niedzwiedzki recommended a test that didn't seem necessary, and when I declined other medicine I was made to feel like my concerns didn't matter. Instead of a collaborative conversation, it felt like: "I'm the trained vet, so don't question me." Asking questions seemed to make her defensive, and the whole experience felt transactional -- more about protocol and billing than personalized care. I won't be returning. read more

1. Indian Peaks saw my 12-year-old male dog 3 times between November 2023 and April 2024 for incessant itching, subsequent hair loss, and extreme discomfort/depression. They did a skin scrape in November and because they didn't see anything, prescribed anti-itch meds and steroids, which did not fix the issue. My dog suffered until July 1, 2024 when I brought him to Nederland vet for a second opinion. They knew immediately that it was scabies/mange. It was seen under a microscope. They told me that because the mites are only seen under the microscope ~30% of the time, and given his symptoms, he should have been put on Nexguard back in November regardless of whether the mites were seen. (He said that he would have put my dog on Nexguard immediately even if he had not seen the mite). Indian Peaks caused my dog 7 months of unnecessary suffering (the side effects from months of steroids have also been awful) and hair loss over 20% of his body. He is now on Nexguard and improving, finally. He should be back to his normal happy self within a few weeks. 2. But worse than that, late last month I brought my 11-year-old poodle mix in because she was acting ill. I was told that she likely had a hip issue and needed 4 teeth removed. I was told that she had severe dry eye and was given eye drops. I was also given an appt for dental surgery and a hip x-ray, the est. was a whopping $3300. (3 years ago my male dog had 10 teeth removed at another vet for $700.) 2 days after we had to cancel her dental surgery she was diagnosed by Nederland Veterinary with a corneal ulcer that was clearly visible with the naked eye (!), and I found out that the steroid drops I had been given were the worst thing for a corneal ulcer. The vet insisted that the proper eye stain was given, despite the ulcer being visible by anyone who simply looked at her eye. I was also told that my sweet girl likely had a brain cancer tumor (not a hip issue), and 6 days later (5 days ago) I had to put her to sleep as she was having seizures, couldn't walk, and could barely stand. 3. Last November I had to say goodbye to my 3rd dog, who had been suffering from diabetes for a long time. Indian Peaks was amazing on this terrible day. That, they handled with compassion and care. I am extremely grateful to the new owners at Ned Vet for correctly diagnosing both my dogs and for offering a remedy for one so that he can live a happy life now. read more

Sorry to say that I will not be bringing my puppy back there. First, they claimed that the breeder's vaccinations (given at ~7.5 weeks of age) didn't count. Then, they gave her 2 un-necessary Bordatella vaccinations. I would expect the Vets/staff to pay closer attention to medical records (that's what they're for). If I can't trust them with routine vaccinations, how can I trust them when it's something serious. Unacceptable. read more

Since relocating to Boulder, I needed a new vet for my dog. Looking at Yelp, I found Indian Peaks Vet, which was conveniently close to home and work. My dog does not like Veterinarians or strangers, so I'm always weary with new places. I went in for an annual check up, grooming, and health discussion. They discovered a broken carnassial tooth, and we scheduled an extraction appointment. He also had a flare up of hip dysplasia in between, which they immediately made time to see him for. He had a bad reaction to the medication, and they again made time to see him immediately. All while this was going on, Rudy (our Vet Tech), called regularly to check on Cameron. They patiently answered all my questions during this. It was a rough 3 weeks, but Indian Peaks made a difficult situation bearable. I can't thank them enough! We had our follow up for his dental suture today, and Dr. Andrews was able to examine his mouth without any problems! They are miracle workers over there. read more

The staff has always been friendly and the two doctors we've interacted with have also been very friendly and seem to love our pup almost as much as us. I've never felt like they have tried to up sell anything to us and have been honest about costs/payments and even the most cost effective location to get her spayed (despite it not being their office). I just moved to Boulder and chose IPVH based on online reviews. Dr. Andrews was absolutely fantastic with my pup (a 130 lb. Mastiff), and I didn't get the high-pressure sales vibe I often feel when I go to the vet. The facility itself was very clean, everyone was very friendly and helpful, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I especially recommend IPVH to anyone with a big dog - sometimes my dog gets sub-standard treatment because the doctors aren't thrilled to work with larger animals, but not here! read more

After months of cruising pet finder and envisioning life with a little pup, my fiance and I bit the bullet and bought our lovely pup Gilbert. We got him at a shelter and many of the initial vaccines were covered, but we booked an appointment with a vet to get him started on the right track. Lisa Sabichi was awesome. A warning to any long-time patients here: ownership has changed, as have staff and prices. While the staff and doctor were pleasant and friendly, it was clear that they were upselling me on everything. This vet used to make me feel the opposite, and I felt confident that my dog was getting the best care without concern for making money. With the previous owners, I was always given costs upfront and offered more affordable options when available. In addition, a simple nail trim was $21, while it was just $12 with the old owners. I was frustrated to receive such a high bill, especially because I wasn't aware of the ownership change until after. Words cannot express how thankful I am for this clinic. My do was seen by Lisa Sabichi. It was Friday morning and before 9:00 am and I knew something was really wrong with my dog. Based on other yelp reviews, I called Indian Peaks. The receptionist, Annie, was so kind and polite. I was lucky as they were able to see my dog that morning. After careful evaluation, we decided to board my dog for the day so an IV could be administered and she could be monitored. I called many times to check on my dog and each time I called, Lisa and Annie were kind and caring. They kept very good care of my dog during the day. Unfortunately, they closed at 8pm. As much as I didn't want to move my dog to an overnight emergency pet clinic, I had to. She was moved to Alpenglow in Boulder (not as high as a rating on the customer service spectrum) and is still there. During the day, Friday, Lisa gave me a lot of information. She delivered news to me in a professional and caring way. I was sad to say goodbye that night, however Lisa advised that I could bring my dog back the next morning if I wished. During my initial visit with Lisa, I advised I was there because my normal vet couldn't get us in as soon. Lisa was adamant about telling me that she understood if I wanted to transfer my dog to her usual vet. She wanted me to know I could tell her that and she wouldn't be mad or bothered with that fact. She'd be happy to fax her notes at a moment's notice. I'm thankful I've found a wonderful clinic with amazing reception help. I may, just maybe, transfer my pets here. Dr. Lisa Sabichi was recommended to us from a family friend - I could not be happier with her practice! She is so wonderful and really put my mind at ease. I had a ton of questions and she was extremely patient, answering everything and clarifying any info I was confused on. Her schedule is also great because it's open late, but they don't have weekend/holiday hours. A few days ago, our little pup Jackson had a spill and twisted his leg. I immediately called the office and they were so sweet. The receptionist probably gets calls like this daily but I was so worried that poor Jack really hurt himself. With her advice and Dr. Sabini's input, we decided to wait it out. They had an appointment available in case we needed it which was a relief. Jack is much better and we're so excited to take him back and see how he grows! read more

This vet took a very bad, life-threatening situation and responsibly followed it through until it was good again. They saved my cat's life. I took my 9-year old fluff ball Persian here for the first time to get a checkup and vaccines, since he was past due. I had shared with the girl on the phone who I made the appointment with that I was pretty nervous about coming in, because my parent's cat had recently died unexpectedly after having an allergic reaction to some routine vaccines, and she was very empathetic and spent a few minutes with me on the phone to address my concerns. Apparently she had made a note in my file about my concerns, because when I had actually arrived for the appointment, Dr. Sarah Grier came in the room and asked me more about it. Communication is important to me, so this was a great first impression. The appointment went well, the doctor was kind, personable, and she didn't rush us through the appointment. The price was more affordable than almost every other vet I had been to in the past (I paid $91 for the exam and 2 vaccines,) and they took my budget concerns to heart and didn't push me to spend more. Fast forward 30 minutes after the appointment. I get home and Oscar, my cat, starts vomiting all over the house, panting heavily, and acting very lethargic and loopy. Obviously very worried at this point, I call Dr. Grier and tell her that I've seen him mildly vomit in the past after vaccines, but he has never panted like this before. She tells me to bring him back in right away. His mouth was literally wide open, tongue out, and he couldn't even hold his bowels when I picked him up to put him back in his carrier. I was a scared mama. I arrive at the office again, they take him back, and I wait for about 20 minutes in my calmest form of panic. The nurse comes out and informs me that they have him hooked up to oxygen and gave him some Benadryl and steroid shots, but that he's stabilized and the doctor would be out shortly. Dr. Grier finally comes out and tells me he's doing much better, so much that he's actually started to groom himself (as a pretentious, long-haired Persian, he's very conscious about how he looks, so I knew this was a good sign.) She brings me back to see Oscar, and he's lying in a cage in a quiet room, connected to oxygen, grooming himself like a little king. She says she wants to keep him there for the day to make sure his vitals are stable, but he should be good to go home by the end of the day. This sort of reaction was apparently very uncommon, and the doc expressed how terrible she felt about it, especially after telling her the story about my parents' cat's sudden death. Irony at its worst. Upon our return to the vet in the evening to pick up Oscar, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Dr. Grier had taken the initiative to call the vaccine company and report the reaction (something my parents' vet had never done, which was mind-blowing to me, given it resulted in a death.) She couldn't be certain what exactly caused the reaction (I was thinking that perhaps the 3-year vaccine was stronger than his previous 1-year vaccine he used to get,) but she told me the vaccine company would be covering the bill for fixing him back up, and that I didn't have to pay anything! What a huge relief!!! Not knowing which vaccine caused the reaction, and knowing he was a 100% indoor cat, she also recommended I steer clear of vaccinating him again, and even offered to write a doctor's note, in the event that I have to show proof of records in the future. I wanted to hug her. I couldn't be more thankful for Dr. Grier and her proactive, calm, and honest approach to a situation that could have ended very badly. She and her staff saved my kitty's life, and I will be forever grateful. read more

As I've said in the past on Yelp, I really don't review a place unless I feel strongly one way or the other. Usually, I only take the time to leave positive reviews. With Indian Peaks Vet, my positive feedback is about three years overdue. They are hands down the best vet I have ever been to, and certainly the best one I've been to in Boulder. I adopted a senior cat three years ago and wasn't told of her medical condition. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to get a diagnosis as my poor cat suffered. In December of 2010, I found Indian Peaks, and was immediately impressed by Dr. McGee's calm, thorough persistence. He got my cat a much needed diagnosis that every other vet had missed--probably saving her life. Dr. Sabichi has also seen my cat and given me advice over the phone, including one time when I was out of town and had to board my cat at the vet unexpectedly when her home care fell through. The pricing is also quite reasonable. The front office staff are overwhelming kind and friendly. When I call to refill my cat's prescription, they always remember me immediately and ask how we're doing. Every time I go in to pick up her medicine or food, they greet me by name as I walk in the door. I can't say enough good things about Indian Peaks, and strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a veterinary office full of capable, compassionate people. read more

I love Indian Peaks Veterinary Hospital and I found them through Yelp! My mom visits often with her champion Vizslas and so we need an excellent, reliable vet. Indian Peaks is just that. We take them for emergencies, routine teeth cleaning, medications and check-ups. It's very easy to make an appointment, often same day to be seen in the clinic for mundane needs. My pooch has skin issues, is loosing her hair, and Dr. Sabichi was very thorough; when she ruled out every possible regular cause, she recommended a great doggie dermatologist to see. Also, when one of our dogs tore her foot open I called them and they could see her immediately. Dr. Sabichi and staff did an amazing and efficient job of checking her out, explaining the procedure, and taking care of her. I actually ended up paying less than the estimate, even though they had to do a tendon repair. Another dog also tore a pad chasing a squirrel, and needed to be taken to the ER. Since it was very close to closing, Indian Peaks was able to recommend a great evening emergency vet and even checked on her status regularly. I think Indian peaks has demonstrated they truly care about the animals they treat, are clear open and honest about their practices, and are just all around nice and pleasant to deal with. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Lisa Sabichi at Indian Peaks for 5 years now. I found them one afternoon shortly after moving to Boulder when my dog injured herself biting down on a stick, and Indian Peaks was the only vet open (they are open late and on weekends!). WHAT an unbelievable find. By the questions Dr. Sabichi asked me about my dog and the careful way she interacted with her, I knew I'd found a really special vet, a Jack London vet. Over the years Dr. Sabichi has seen me through my dog's aging, helped me with some very sickly shelter kittens and the painful death of one going through wet FIP. I now live in Westminster and still make the 35 minute drive to Indian Peaks for all my animals, they are that special. The staff at Indian Peaks are all wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable, and it is Dr. Sabichi you want to come here for. At each appointment, Dr. Sabichi records pages of notes about my animal, which I have seen no other vet do. I'm an overkill type person when it comes to my animals' health and if anything seems out of the ordinary I want tests; Dr. Sabichi has talked me out of expensive tests and x-rays many times when she felt they were not necessary, so when she does say we should do a test, I trust her fully. To me though, the thing that really stands out about Dr. Sabichi is how she always asks questions about the animals' mental health, if they seem happy and are getting along with each other. I think the home/family dynamics are an important factor in your animals' health and it's nice to have a vet who asks questions about how your animal is liking his or her home life. Anyway, from someone who has a long relationship with Indian Peaks, I highly recommend them and will continue bringing all of my animals here for years to come. read more
