Dr. McComb failed to correctly diagnose our cat. Luckily, we got a second opinion and the second vet did an x-ray and found a bladder stone. If we didn't get a second opinion, our cat would not have got the surgery he needed to remove the stone and could have died. No, Dr. McComb, our cat is not depressed and he does not need Prozac! I wish Valley Veterinary Hospital would have listened to us when we told them our cat had a history of crystals and urinary issues, they should have done further testing/their jobs. read more

I have nothing but good to say this clinic from the receptionist to the docs are absolutely amazing. They are caring and not the kind of caring like the other vets here in co I have unfortunately ran into on my quest to find valley vet. They don't care about your pocket book and how deep it is they care about the animals and that they are ok. My female recently gave birth and dr.mccomb went above and beyond to offer her help over the phone or if I wanted to bring my dog in. If I could give them 1000 stars I would cause they deserve it. I am unfortunately hard guy to please but this vet has earned my upmost respect and have a loyal customer for as long as I have any kind of pet. They remind me of back home small town vet. Our 10 month old pup, Juniper woke up one morning a couple weeks ago vomiting and in obvious pain. Our family just moved to the Longmont area a week before and had no local vet set up. I called Valley Veterinary a little after 7am and explained her symptoms and they were MORE than accommodating to us. We brought her in and the Doc treated us like we had a standing appointment and took the time to talk to us and properly diagnose our pup. The staff was wonderful and so attentive to us, even though they had a very full day ahead of them. It is so appreciated in this day and age to be treated with compassion and empathy. Dr. Peila and everyone at the South office has absolutely been wonderful and exceeded all expectations. After rescuing large breeds for over 15 yrs and having every medical issue imaginable, rarely do I come across a veterinarian who goes the extra distance. Most accommodate, diagnose, and treat although; the combination of compassion & expertise is a rarity. Not here. Our 160lb rescued Neapolitan ruptured his knee, as anyone with large breed knows such an injury is crippling for all involved. The team at Valley Vet immediately scheduled surgery and were outstanding with communication. Post surgery got even better, if possible. Not many read long reviews so I'll sum up by stating- I value Dr. Peila and clinic immensely and will shout their phrases to any who needs help with their animal. You love them more than imaginable, give them the best care available. read more

It appears that this practice is not accepting new patients. We are fairly new to Longmont and needed a vet close by because our 14 year old dog does not like to ride in the car and we didn't want to stress him out more than necessary. With COVID rules, we would not be able to go in with him so I wanted to talk to someone to give them a bit of history and introduce ourselves before the visit. The receptionist on the phone was very pleasant and said she would leave a message with the doctor and he would call back. We waited until late in the afternoon and called again. She said she would remind him. A day later we called again and got a different receptionist. She was also very pleasant and said she would leave a note on his desk. I did ask that if they were not accepting new patients to let me know so we could look elsewhere. It's been a few days and no response. I would hate of what would this would happen if it was an emergency. Very disappointing! read more

Having recently moved to CO I feel very lucky to have found this hospital. My cat was not yet their patient but that didn't matter, the receptionist gave me an appointment ASAP. I feel that Dr. Peila is a very knowledgeable and fair veterinarian; I never felt any pressure to have expensive tests run on my aging cat. I have been using this Vet for years and they always treat my animals with respect. And they also respect my wallet, never suggesting something that we don't need or something that is not helpful. Dr. Jeff is always looking to help us save when we can and always looks after the best interest of our dogs and cat. We've been clients of Valley Vet South hospital for more than 10 years. We have two dogs and several cats. They've been particularly good with our cats, who have needed more medical services than our dogs. That said, when I had to bring my dog in last spring with what seemed like a life and death situation, they were able to stabilize her immediately and get her back to health very quickly. The staff is very nice and they always work to get me an appointment quickly. I rarely have to wait to see a doctor. Their waiting room is a bit dated, but their doctors are top notch. I guess I'd rather see them put money into their veterinary training and equipment than create a luxury waiting space. I especially like Dr. Peila for our cats. He really seems to care about them, which I find isn't always the case for cats. read more

This is an affortable veterinary clinic (if veterinary services can be affordable :) ), with some excellent vets. My animals have received the best of care at this facility. The staff is friendly and good at making you feel welcome. The animals are treated very well as members of your family and not just objects. I've been going here for 8 years and wouldn't even consider switching to another place. read more

I've been taking my 3 dogs to Valley Vet since we moved here and wouldn't consider going to anyone else. My Dogs actually get excited about being there because the staff just loves to dote on them. Dr. Peila and Dr. McCombs are both excellent in their fields and have always taken great care of our kids. They've even tended to of one of them in an emergency situation when we were out of town. The docs and techs at both Valley Vet locations are fantastic! I drive from Denver to Longmont just so our yellow lab can get the best care possible. He's a big boy, but they manage to draw blood and give shots without him getting too annoyed. Dr Jeff really spent time on the phone with me to explain the calculation of calories for his food so that he gets enough to eat without needing to chew up carpeting/leaves/dirt and needing surgery to get it back out.
