Other tongue-tie specialists were "booked" and were giving several weeks minimum before we could get an initial appointment! As a parent with a child in pain - this is a brutal thought! Dr. Baxter reserves appointment times for parents in these sort of emergency situations. He cares deeply and has HIGH integrity with his patients while also exhibiting strong leadership skills with his staff. The entire office experience from start to finish is one of compassionate care. I always had enough time to comfort and nurse my little one before and after my appointment in a private room away from everything. I could easily access our medical records at any time and all my questions were acknowledged and answered. oh, I almost forgot. We received a phone call the afternoon after our tongue-tie surgery from Dr. Baxter himself checking-in on our child's status and he gave us insights and alleviated any fears about post-op procedures. We also could text a phone number at any time, as needed. Then weeks later, he welcomed us back for an unexpected additional appointment to alleviate another very new parent concern without shaming us or charging us. lol I sincerely thank God for Dr. Baxter. Can not recommend this man and his lovely, caring staff enough.

I'm new to Hoover & very happy to have found the pediatric branch of Brocks Gap Dentistry!…read more I scheduled an appointment for my oldest child, as a follow up to having a tooth extracted in our previous state. Upon entering the office we were pleasantly surprised to see his name displayed on an a-frame sign, welcoming him as a new patient. How thoughtful! I've since returned with my younger two children for cleanings & for follow up visits for my oldest. My entire crew enjoys visiting this practice! Staff has been consistently friendly & helpful. Hygienist and doctors are skilled & knowledgable. They have provided quality care and ongoing clear communication. Paperwork is complete online prior to appointments or in-office with a tablet. The waiting area are child friendly & fun -- complete with arcade style game machines (Pac-Man, Stargate, Galaga, Multicade) and sit-on monster trucks. If you're looking for a pediatric dentist, I highly recommend scheduling with Brock's Gap Pediatric Dentistry!

Not many people understand what it's like to parent a special needs child. In our case, every day is different and many times good oral hygiene is a struggle, leading to many, many teeth and gum issues. We have taken our daughter to over 20 dentists in the Birmingham metro area (yes, early on, we called UBA and the wait was a year for anesthesia), and Brocks Gap is THE ONLY DENTISTS who were willing to save our daughter's teeth. THEY CARE. Dentists, hygienists, DAs, managers, receptionists, etc. are there to help, but this is how they feed their families and they must be paid (this is a finger shaking to the negative reviewers who are angry that they charge a late or no-show fees). They went above and beyond to help a middle-class family who did not have all the funds to give their daughter a new start with her teeth. They are working with a new company that doesn't focus on credit score allows patients to make monthly payments for dental work, so if you think you can't afford to go to the dentist, give them a call. They have so many options for struggling families just like us. If you have a fear of dental work, you can even request anesthesia, which is a must with our child, who has extreme anxiety and could not tolerate the time sensitive and lengthy dental care she needed. If you have a child who is autistic, you will be in VERY SAFE HANDS at Brocks Dental. We will be letting families everywhere know that there is a dental facility that can care for the whole family, but ESPECIALLY our autism babies who need the kind of care that they give. We will never, ever forget the compassion and empathy given by each person who makes Brocks Gap what it is, a place where parents are not judged, and a true love of children and their well-being is so very apparent. Thank you to everyone who has greeted us with a smile, understood when we needed to reschedule due to melt downs or blown tires (we drive over an hour to them, because it's worth it). given patience to a very sensitive 16 year old and still helped us when Mom has had stress induced breakdowns. We would not trust anyone else with our daughter. There's a special place in heaven for those who care about children and who are humbly gracious with the struggles of others. We are so blessed to know them! Lisa Dolce

This review is a long but necessary one for those parents like me that need more substance. Overall, we love Oak Mountain pediatric dentistry office and know you will too! Our daughter had to have a baby tooth pulled after a great attempt at keeping it as long as possible. Who on earth would think that a child would actually enjoy that experience? My daughter started off a little hesitant but quickly started singing to Frozen during the whole process. They made sure she was comfortable, alert and calm. They have tv's on the ceiling and the chairs are actually more like a relaxing bed. She was involved in the process from choosing her flavor gas to the colors of whatever tools had an option. It truly helped her relax and allow the process since she felt like the decision maker. When I tell you that as a parent, I actually almost teared up that we found this place. Not only were they able to extract the problem tooth, they identified a smaller cavity that could turn into a problem and fixed it at the same appointment in addition to coating her other molars to protect them. The quality of care is superb. They answered every question and even leading up to the procedure called to check on us. They provided after hours instructions. I could go on and on. If you're thinking about bringing your little ones here, I'd recommend acting now before they're full and can't take any new patients!

I called the office and made an appointment to do so. Took my son into the office, he had a complete meltdown in front of everyone. It took them 5-10 minutes to get us a room, even after I had informed them of our situation with our son. Went into the room and the dentist was not available. He walked into the room about 20 minutes after we arrived, at this point my son is screaming like crazy. Dr. Baker did an exam and told me that he would have to set up an appointment to have it pulled. What in the world, I made that appointment when I called. He argued with me over it, unbelievable, he could have pulled my sons tooth in the time it took for him to have his say with me. Let me tell you it is obvious he is not a patient dentist and is very rude and obnoxious. He told me that my appointment was for an exam and that I would have to schedule to have it pulled. Then he proceeded to tell me that he had 14 other people to attend to and slammed the door as he left the room. Unprofessional, and unbelievable, what a terrible example of showing to me that we were not wanted in that office and it showed. He showed my son no respect and me no respect. So I would definitely expect for him to do the same to your family. He is terrible and I would never recommend him to anyone. To treat people like trash, is not good customer service at all, shame on your Dr. Baker and your practice. I will make sure others know not to use you, and your services!

After putting it off for as long as possible (cuz really, who actually *enjoys* going to the…read moredentist?), I finally stopped being a child and worked up the nerve to find a local dentist to frequent. The goal was to find one that was in our insurance network, and also one close enough to allow for mid-workday visits w/out causing too much interruption of the day. So, out of the blue I settled on Valleydale Dental, and apparently my hands are magic b/c I hit the jackpot. The facilities are very easy to find and are very clean and modernly-furnished - the patient area is basically a wide-open space, with "rooms" as you would imagine them (with a flat-panel TV in each, allowing you to try to mentally escape the sounds of soft drilling), but with the 4th wall for the door not exactly there. (Hard to describe, but a very neat setup with privacy not an issue at all actually.) The staff - hygienists, receptionists - are all incredibly personable and down-to-earth, never giving the impression that your visit is an inconvenience to their work schedule (which unfortunately happens quite a bit at doctors' offices these days it seems). The actual DMD, Dr. Gonzalez, is as friendly as a doctor/dentist can be. The guy's got a ridiculous bedside manner, and makes you feel like you're just hanging out with a buddy, who happens to have his hand in your mouth. lol He's absolutely forthcoming about everything he's going to do and is doing, and is not pushy, dry, or nonchalant when it comes to identifying what he thinks next steps should be. He's quick yet thorough in his work, and truly appears to care about doing a great job and with the least amount of discomfort to the patient. Fantastic dentist - could not be happier with the choice. So, if you're looking for a good dentist in town, and are either on this side of town mostly, or don't mind the trek from wherever you are, I *highly* recommend this place. I'd give them 6 stars if I could, that's how impressed I am of the overall experience. I'm already working on recruiting my wife, and will probably hit up a few other family members as well before it's all said and done. Seriously, give this place a look - trust me, you will thank the tooth heavens.
