You can't live in Indiana and not get caught up in sports, especially basketball. I have followed the Indiana Pacers for several decades now and been a faithful supporter. I try to make it to a couple of games each season. As with most teams, they have great years and not so great years. This season several star players are injured. Their record has been disappointing, but I still love them. Last night, we went with our granddaughters for family night. There were some great giveaways to celebrate the night including hats, hot dogs and towels to wave. We saw great performances at half time and during timeouts. The seats were reasonably priced and we could see the game easily. The Pacers league knows how to make the evening fun! The kids followed the game and stayed excited. As for the team, they came out strong in the first quarter, but lost the game. The team was fun to watch, nevertheless. We are lucky to live in a city with a pro team that is accessible and affordable for families. I love my Pacers. read more

My husband and I had the opportunity to go to an Indiana Pacers game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse while we were visiting Indianapolis. The Pacers were struggling at the bottom of the league this season, which benefitted us since tickets in the 200 level were only $20. The games are fun with different contests being held during the timeouts as a way to entertain the live crowd. There was lots to see and do on the concourse during the game. My dad's Christmas present was a Pacers game at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and we had yet to go to a game. The parking was accessible; see Virginia Avenue Parking Garage at 155 Delaware St, Indianapolis, IN 46204, for $20.00 parking. The parking garage has a ramp for folks who use a wheelchair or can't deal with step after step; it is located at the end closest to the arena. We didn't look for an elevator. Besides, we figured the ramp would give us some exercise since I parked on the top level. It wasn't that high of an incline; it appeared to be the ADA-recommended 5%. Next, a pedway connects the parking garage to the arena, and once through, you'll go through metal detectors. Then, down an escalator or use the elevator. We had a good time, but there were no closed captions--nothing for announcements, a half-time show, official calls, and presentations. Finally, they have a leading team store with two levels and smaller team stores throughout the arena. They have a wide selection of Pacers merchandise. read more

To say that I'm a lifelong Indiana Pacers fan would be almost a literal statement. The Indiana Pacers began in Indy in 1967, when I was only 2-years-old. While I'm fairly certain my life at that point was distracted by surviving spina bifida, the truth is I've been an Indiana Pacers fan since those early days when the Pacers started out in the former American Basketball Association. The Pacers were part of the ABA from 1967-1976. It was the days of George McGinnis, Billy Keller, Darnell Hillman, and countless others who remain icons in Indy including longtime coach Bob "Slick" Leonard. When the ABA folded and multiple teams went under the NBA umbrella, the Pacers were one of them. These days, of course, they play out of Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the Indiana Fever, our WNBA team, are included under the Pacers Sports and Entertainment umbrella and under the ownership of Herb Simon. Under the ownership of the Simons, the Pacers have become a stable fixture of Indy. At one point, it appeared they might be bought by out-of-towners. That's a scary prospect in a mid-level market city as the risk of relocation is always there. The Pacer colors are Navy Blue, Gold, and Cool Gray. The new and current coach is Nate Bjorkgren and Kevin Pritchard is our GM. The Indiana Pacers won 3 ABA championships; they've yet to win an NBA championship. They won an NBA conference title in 2000. They've won 9 total division titles - 3 in the ABA, 6 in the NBA with the most recent being in 2014. They've retired 5 numbers - 30 (George McGinnis), 31 (Reggie Miller), 34 (Mel Daniels), 35 (Roger Brown), and 529 (Coach Bobby Leonard). The Indiana Pacers have certainly had their occasional controversies, but they've long been a beloved symbol of Indiana's love of basketball. It's a love I grew up - I was a Junior Pacer as a young kid and received an award from Larry Bird himself for community service as an adult. The Indiana Pacers has eight former players and three former coaches who are members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. A few fun facts - Reggie Miller continues to hold the franchise record for point scored (25,279), minutes played (47,619), assists (4,141), steals (1,505), and most 3-pointers made (2,560). If I had to pick an all-time favorite player, it would likely be Billy Keller. Reggie Miller is an undeniable fave whose kindness was well known including donating items for a charity auction I did for my Tenderness Tour. The Pacers organization has long worked to balance fiscal responsibility with a strong sense of community. It has left a solid imprint on Indy through a variety of charitable endeavors and generally has long been recognized as a quality organization. While some players certainly leave in search of bigger fame, paychecks, or spotlights, we've had some remarkable loyalty over the years (including Reggie Miller's entire career - along with that of Tamika Catchings for the Fever). I can't imagine a day when I won't be madly passionate about my Indiana Pacers. Like any fan, I haven't agreed with every decision or situation but watching the Pacers over the years has probably been my greatest sports joy along with Mario Andretti in auto racing. It is unfortunate that we could not enjoy this game as planned. After dealing with Rachel, in guest services coupled with the organizations poor handling of accommodations for wheelchair users. We will not be participating in another game and are actively spreading the word that this facility is not friendly nor accommodating to individuals in wheelchairs or their families. After four phone calls, countless time on hold and voicemails not returned, the month leading up to this game, I was informed as a wheelchair user my fiancé would have to sit alone, while my young daughter and I sat together in the stands. The other option offered was my daughter or myself separately sat away from my fiancé while the other sat with him. They were willing to only accommodate one companion seat for our wheelchair user. I had to constantly advocate for them to make the simple request, seat us as a family. As the rest of our school was there, seated together as families. They finally offered us tickets, putting us in the same area, but separated by another guest. That was the best they could do. So still not seated as a family. They needed to keep tickets open for other accessible guests needs. Tell me why no other accommodations were required for accessible guests and instead, these seats were left open. In a section of 12 chairs. Only 5 tickets were sold in this section. Naturally my daughter and her friends (and her near by friends parents) all questioned why our tickets weren't together, before we got to our seats to know there would be room for us to move seats around, my initial response was because they couldn't do a better job accommodating us with a wheelchair, this was the best they could do, and Rachel offered me 'hopefully the individuals around you understand and will let you move seats around let your family sit together.' A mom with 5 kids and separately and dad with 6 kids piled in 205 2A, taking my daughter and my seats, While in concessions. They were looking for better seats. Well they found them. Making my family the inconvenience once again. I understand staffing crisis, I understand being short handed on ushers. I do not understand how an organization that claims to have accommodations so strict to follow, failed to accommodate a wheelchair user. Rob will never return to a Pacer's game. He was uncomfortable by the chaos to seat us as family. It's already hard enough to find activities we can do as a family. Spectating is usually the safest option. But the Pacer's failed us. read more

What can I say? The Pacers are a fabulous team. We've been to a few of their games over the last few years, including for Kobe's last game players the Pacers, and last night's game was by far the best experience! We didn't have to fight with the usual crowds as we arrived there after tip off, but it did not take very long to find our seats. These seats were our bests ones yet, club level baby! The staff were wonderful with helping us find our seats and answering our questions. If you have never sat in the club level I recommend it! Each section has it's own server who brings you food and drinks should you choose to order. We went on a family night so they invite everyone on to the court after the game to shoot some hoops. That was a very first for us as well! The kids enjoyed shooting. Next time I think mama will have to join in on the shooting fun as well. I've been pretty disenchanted with the Pacers the past couple of years. They seem to have finally turned a corner and I suppose it is better late than never. Went to my first game of the season tonight, and I'm impressed with what they've done- thank you, Pacers management, for finally getting rid of your bad apples. I used to not enjoy the games at all because I had little respect for many of the players since it seemed that they were always making headlines for all of the wrong reasons. They're trying to instill pride back into the organization and I sure do hope it works. The games are now a little more family-atmosphere oriented, at least that was the sense I got at tonight's game. The Pacemates are revealing a little less skin (thank God) and they've revamped the game-time entertainment. Seems that they are going for more of a hometown basketball game feel, with a pep band and drum corps. The pep band is pretty hokey, but that's ok I guess. I'm not a parent, but if I was, I would probably rather take my kids to a game and have them see that then watch half-naked cheerleaders shake all over the place. But, to each his own... The Pacers are definitely working to shed their poor reputation of recent years... let's hope the players stay of trouble, get the city to believe in them again and win some games! read more

My wife and I took our 10 yr old grandson to the Pacers/Hawks game and it did not disappoint. Pacers won by one point in overtime. But that is not what made this spectacle so great. The arena and the pacers organization are first class all the way. We were in section 118 seats 14/15/16. This is club level and the seats themselves were padded and plenty of elbow room as well as room for your knees. Do not know if 200 level was equally roomy and padded but the seating arrangements where we were was wonderful We arrived early and usher asked if our grandson would like to join the pacer super fan group when the camera man comes around and get a chance to appear on the Jumbotron. She said it would be in about one hour. Well true to her word in about one hour she cane to get my grandson,brought him to the super fan section and he did in fact get on the Jumbotron. We have a nice family video taken on our phone as a souvenir. From the opening whistle to the final buzzer the organization provides non stop activity/show/entertainment between floor action. There is never a dull moment above and beyond the actual playing minutes on the floor of the players themselves Highly highly recommend this venue if you are in the midwest and like NBA games. The entire family will be entertained for the length of the game. No lulls and no breaks. Always something fun going on and nothing lame Go and be entertained for three hours read more

Just last night I was reading about the horrors --- the horror! -- of the malice in the palace on Grantland. Then, tonight... BOOM BABY! The first 6 game win streak in 7 years. Over those 6 wins... an average margin of victory at 17.5 points per game. BOOM BABY. Right now with the fifth best record in the league (behind the Bulls, Thunder, Heat & Spurs), the Pacers are taking their youthful energy, their taciturn, pointed attacking coach & giving us something to look forward to every single day. Here in Indy for sports we've been in a state of disruption: we're hosting the Super Bowl! We don't have a QB. IU! Ohh... Butler. Roller Girls! Ohh... we don't have a MLB team. The Pacers! The Pacers! The Pacers! They are giving us something here, so pay attention (but, from my point of view, pay attention without paying those ticket prices... at least until the playoffs :) read more

The Pacers are back! Boom Baby!!! My wife was kind enough to get me the Christmas present I had mulled doing myself, (but was not selfish enough to buy for myself) which was a part time season ticket to some Indiana Pacers Basketball games! It was the best present ever! What a playoff run!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this team so much, the way they played, the way they encouraged one another, and how great they are as people, that I re-upped for next year! Now Pacer fan, including me, are getting excited for the NBA Draft, and welcoming the newest talented players to Indiana's Team. That is what lacked for so long with the early 2000's teams - that community connection - calling the Pacers our team. The Pacers organization worked extremely hard to be conspicuously involved in Indianapolis and all of central Indiana. It is really starting to pay off as the fans have really come back. I'm back and fully engaged as the organization has earned me back. Love the Indianapolis Pacers and the fact their tickets are reasonably priced! The tickets can go from top prices, down to ten bucks. The field house also sells the local beer from around Indianapolis, which is always an extra point in my book! I wish they had a few more options in the field house for food. I looked at my 2010 review and I had a great big smile. This team has changed a lot since 2010. I love what my Indiana Pacer have evolved into. The best defensive team in the NBA. Roy Hibbert is going to be Defensive Player of the Year, Lance Stephenson is going to be Most Improved Player of the Year. David West is by far my favorite player. Paul George has turned into a legitimate all star. George Hill is the most underrated point guard in the NBA. This team is so exciting to watch. It's almost unfair when Danny Granger, Watson, and Scola come in off the bench. This team is going all the way this year. The Fieldhouse is a great place to watch a game and the Pacers are a class organization. My wife and I try to make the visit from Cincinnati a few times each season. I'm not a Pacers fan as much as I am an NBA fan, but I can't imagine many teams in the league that give fans a great family experience like the Pacers do - when I have kids, they'll definitely be coming to games. Fun family outing, great atmosphere and a winning team!

I went to the Indianapolis Pacers versus the Milwaukee Bucks game last month and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bankers Life Fieldhouse! Butler University blocked off a section of seats for the game, so we got them for a fairly decent price for the seats that we had. I thought the facilities, entertainment, and parking were outstanding. I obviously loved the game even thought both teams played pretty poorly. I think that best part about the Indiana Pacers is that you get to experience professional basketball in a great venue in downtown Indianapolis. The team, the fans, and the Pacers community are so welcoming and nice. As a college student, it is a fun distraction from school and an excuse to experience downtown Indianapolis. I will definitely be back to watch another game this season, hopefully against a more competitive team! read more

I'm a Bulls fan, but I'll go to Pacers games because I like the NBA. Anyone who thinks that it costs $400 to bring a family to see a pro sports game doesn't do it right. You might not get court side vs Miami, but you can go on a Tuesday vs Milwaukee and get $10 tickets. They have a $10 item in the gift shop every day, and you can park for free at some meters after 7. read more
