Although it was super cold, we still had a great time at the NCAA Final Four Dribble event! With the event came free parking, which makes it super convenient as the lot was right across. Normally, you have to pay to park here or have a permit. They opened at 11, and the lines got long pretty quickly, but they moved fast, so it wasn't too bad. Once inside, there were plenty of activity booths and even free fruit like apples, oranges, and bananas. They had a setup with multiple tents and tables for registration, and due to the amount of people, it was hard to tell where the lines were as people just crowded around. Once registered, we received a bag, headband, T-shirt, and wristband to get a basketball. The registration process could have been a little smoother with better organization. There were activities on the field to keep everyone entertained while waiting for the dribble to begin. My favorite booth was the Geico one. they printed your picture onto a player card, which was such a fun keepsake! It was definitely a busy event with lots of participants, so waiting in line was to be expected. When it was time to start, everyone moved to the track where staff handed out basketballs. The dribble route went past Victory Field and ended at the convention center, where we got free access to Fan Fest with the event, such a great perk! I also liked that we passed through Victory Field and could use the restrooms there. It was a fun event, but I feel like it could have been a little more organized. Another downside was the weather because it was so cold and windy, but we still tried to make the most of it! read more

I know that there are soccer games held here along with a bunch of other events. I came here for the NCAA Final Four dribble event. It was during Final Four weekend and they had the facility looking nice for the event. Everything was spread out due to how much opening space there was. The volunteers were friendly. Parking is not bad at all which I know typically you have to pay for parking but during this event we didn't have to pay. read more

Michael A. Carroll Stadium is a 12,111-seat stadium located on the campus of IU-Indianapolis. As should be obvious from its name, it's a stadium primarily utilized for both track events and soccer including hosting the Indy Eleven soccer team. The stadium is considered a world class facility and has hosted a variety of international events including the 1987 Pan American Games, the 1988 Olympic team Trials, the 2006 and 2007 USA Track and Field Championships, and IHSAA Soccer State Championships among other events. The stadium was built in 1982 and, yes, I'd say it is showing its age just a bit. In 2022, the stadium underwent renovation including the installation of the new FieldTurf Revolution soccer field. Both the IU Indianapolis men's and women's soccer teams call the stadium home and it's utilized as a training ground by all 14 IU Indianapolis Division I athletic programs. It's also available for rental, as happened today when I attended a 5k event hosted within the facility but taking place throughout campus and along White River State Park. In terms of accessibility, I'd call it decent. I parked across the street in the usual parking, however, the crosswalk actually has a step on the stadium side. I ended up having to go down a block and cross over at the light. In this day and again, there's simply no reason to fix that. I also found both ramps leading down to the field area to be fairly steep - I'd imagine someone with weak upper body would have a hard time. The stadium is named after Michael A. Carroll, a significant community leader in Indy who was one of four community leaders killed in a plane crash on September 11, 1992 (No, not THAT 9/11). He was on the way to an Ohio event to explore ideas for what eventually became White River State Park. Overall, today's event was great. The women's soccer team was just starting to practice as our event ended. I enjoyed wheeling on the surface and found it pretty easy. IU has clearly made efforts at accessibility, though there's room to improve here. It's an older facility. I'm not even sure I'd say it's "world class" anymore, however, it's a treasured part of Indy and ideally suited for its campus setting. If you get the chance, explore the surrounding areas as there's an easy route to get to White River State Park and there's a lot more public art than I remember from my last visit. read more

We had a great time seeing Indy Eleven play here. For those who don't know, Indy Eleven is Indianapolis' amazing soccer team! Indy Eleven has a dedicated and enthusiastic fan base, so even if you're attending a game for the first time or don't know much about soccer, you're sure to have a great time because the energy is always set to 11. The Indy Eleven pre-game featured vendors, food trucks and other things happening before the actual game. There was food and beverage available to purchase, and lots of room to walk around and play on the grass, too. All in all, this is a good venue to see Indy Eleven play, and I imagine it would be a good venue to see lots of other sports and sporting teams play. read more

This stadium is located on the IUPUI campus. It is not the biggest stadium, nor does it have many amenities. However, it still works.This stadium is home to the Indy Eleven, the city's soccer team and who I was here to watch. It was built in 1982 and has a capacity of about 12,000. The stadium is named after the former VP of Lilly Endowment Inc. who was considered one of IUPUI's strongest and most committed supporters until his passing. The stadium was very clean and easy to navigate. In addition to Indy 11 games, the stadium has hosted the USA Track and Field Championships, IHSAA Soccer State Championships, and corporate events. The seats are your standard metal bleachers. One side of the field, announcers' booth is located, has comfortable lounge seating (box stands). Most seats have great views, with their only being a few exceptions on the far ends. Of course,, as with any other venue, the closer to midfield the better. I really did not see many restrooms while I was there, but the littles and I did not need to go though. The stadium does not have resident food vendors. They rely on food trucks to serve up their snacks and food. While I was there, the had Chef Dan's cajun food, Ben's Pretzel, Kona Ice, and drink vendors staffed by fundraising groups. Parking was easy, but a bit on the pricey side, as compared to Indians games. Parking ranged from $15 to $20 depending on the lot you parked at. But the stadium is just a short walk from there. They have tailgating in Lots A&B, if that is your thing. They do not allow bags or backpacks into the stadium, so plan accordingly. I had to take my backpack with our rain gear back to the car. The staff there was very nice from top to bottom and i liked the stadium's energy. The section behind the goal area is where the die hard soccer fans post up. They had instruments, chants, dances, and red and blue smoke. Yes, red and blue smoke. They were awesome. If I did not have my littles with me, I would have joined them. Anyway, this is a decent venue that is wide open. It does not offer a lot in regards to food options, protection from the sun or shade, or restrooms, but I still like it. It is easy to get in and out of, very friendly staff, very clean, my littles had a good time here. read more

Parking: costs $15, but was extremely convenient. Right across from the stadium and there's plenty of spots! Even tailgating was going on! Stadium: was pretty decent a lot of sitting really relaxed! Only thing was lots of red tiny crawling bugs on the bleachers. Made it a little uneasy. Ambiance: total VIBE, the crowd was hype! People of all ages enjoying the festivities! Food trucks, real life dog mascots! It was really nice! Colored smoke during scoring. Game: the players were epic! The game was fun, loud, and entertaining to watch. The crowd was invested in the game and it made it that much enjoyable! Even though the stadium is not the best I've been to, I would recommend it. The Indy Eleven recently has been transitioning to and from Carroll Stadium and Lucas Oil recently, and personally I enjoy the atmosphere that this college stadium provides. I went to a game last night, which cost about $30 per ticket to sit near midfield. It was relatively spaced out with COVID precautions still, although certainly relaxed these days. Parking was a little chaotic, arriving close to game time and effectively one entrance to the primary paid parking lot ($15), but there is ample space there. Effectively everything you need (food, drinks, restrooms) are at the ends of the soccer field (or pitch, but I'm not cool enough to use that term). The fan section is at the west end of the field and provides great energy to the game. The seating section faces towards the skyline of the downtown hospitals and also offers a view of downtown to the east. The sunset also quite enjoyable if you are going to an evening game. Overall a great experience! read more

I've been to a couple of different events here, and I've always liked the stadium. A bike ride that I do in the summer starts from here, and I've been to an Indy Eleven Soccer game here as well. The west gates are typically what you enter, and it can crowd up a little bit as people are entering and trying to find their seats, but if you're patient, you'll be rewarded with typical stadium seating on the south side of the stadium. The sun setting can be a little bright, so don't forget your sunglasses if you're there around sunset. Parking can be a bit of a hassle. We tried tailgating and were told that our $10 parking spot was for the car only, and we couldn't take up another spot for the grill. I even tried paying for an extra spot and was told no. So I've been a Indy Eleven patron all year. I have missed maybe 3-5 games which is why i didnt get season tickets. Since I have been to so many games i can tell you this is a really fun experience. Every single home game has been sold out this year, our fans are the best in the league which is amazing since this is our first year. The first game the league and stadium were completely un prepared, after the first mishap they corrected themselves and every game since they have gotten better. Now, there are tons of drink/food vendors and also more and better managed indy elven gear spots. who knew a soccer team in Indy would take off like they have, we have the best fan base in the NASL which is amazing. So all in all you will have a great time here at IUPUI stadium and watching our awesome Indy Eleven!!! read more

I came here for a soccer game and had a pretty good time. We started off by tailgating in the parking lot for an hour or so. We were able to park close enough that we could pack up and go inside pretty quickly. Once inside, there were a good amount of beer stands and bathrooms. We had to walk all the way around to the back side of the stadium, but we were able to find plenty of areas selling beer over there as well. While the bleachers weren't exactly comfortable, we still had a pretty good view and were able to see most of the action. read more

I work at IUPUI so I see the Carroll Stadium every day - and get to host student events in it! It is wonderful to have a professional soccer stadium here in Indianapolis but also that there are other sporting and social events in there as well. Parking is located in the nearby IUPUI lots or parking garages. It is a bummer for employees but great for guests because there is so much nearby parking (employees have to park farther away on game days). There is ample seating and the grounds are always well-maintained. read more

I've been here for a number of Indy Eleven games, in regular seating and in the suites. They've definitely made the best of what they had available to try to make this stadium meet their needs. For that I commend them, but as an attendee there is quite a bit lacking. Comfort specifically. Suites have no a/c, or so little that it can get hotter in there than outside. Catering service is great, food is okay. The food stands are alright and appreciate the local brew available for purchase. The Brickyard Battalion section is awesome and really makes the experience. Overall the facility is widely used, but would not miss it in an instant if they were able to build a stadium for the Boys in Blue. Stadium: 3/5 Service: 4/5 - event staff is mostly friendly, though Security can be a bit off putting at times (swear our diaper bag just has diapers!) Concessions: 4/5 Suites:2/5 Parking: 5/5 - pretty easy and preferred parking across the street, a few steps away from priority entrance is only $15, awesome. Can't get batter than that read more

As a standalone sports venue I would say this place is probably a 2 star experience. It's dated, the seating is metal bleachers with no backs, and the restroom facilities are dirty, small, and very old. Concessions are also a bit hit and miss with some locations having everything available while the next line over inexplicably doesn't. As a venue for watching Indy Eleven Soccer games this place is 4 stars. Great atmosphere. Amazing crowd. A great view of the pitch from virtually every seat in the house. Only thing that would be better is if the seats were closer to the action (which isn't possible as there's a full size track that circles the artificial turf). read more

Visited Carroll Stadium for the N.I.T.E. ride. The facility seemed well kept and seemed like it would actually be a great place to catch a soccer game. The space seemed more accommodating for vendors and ride participants than the Major Taylor Velodrome and the location is definitely more convenient for hotel/restaurants for out-of-towners. read more

This team and the fans and community around them are fun! Great location with plenty of seats considering they are an up and coming team. I have attended two games total, one from the stands and the most recent from a box trailer. The trailer was legit! Plenty of food and great seats. From the stands I found it hard to get into the game because of all the things going on around the stadium. It almost has a highschool football game feel with kids walking around the track the whole game and the ultimate fan section behind one of the goals. We tried to tailgate the first time we came to a game and it may have been the weather but it was not a popular thing to do. Overall it's a great program and with the modifications they are planning for the stadium, I think it will be a knock out next season! read more

So it is a track stadium so when going to a Indy Eleven soccer game the pitch is surrounded by a track. The goal stands are on the track so they are closer to the action. As such we ended up in Section 10 right at mid field and the view was acceptable. Going here in summer means baking in the sun. My tip is if you go take either or all of the following (a) cooling towels you can wet and put over your head (b) hat (c) cooling headband much like the cooling towels (d) hand held portable mister with fan [we thought we couldn't bring one in but the family in front of us had one just like ours[ (d) you're allowed one closed container of liquid per person to bring in and one guy had a gallon jug of water which looked like a good idea (e) sunscreen as you will need it. Do not bring an umbrella to the soccer game as the security staff will hassle people to put them away (though not consistently so kind of a mixed message to the fans). Couple things to note about the facilities. The water in the bathroom was running hot out of the tap so you could not refill your water bottle with that water. There were no water fountains either that I could find. So bring cash/credit cards to buy water from the concession stands. This is why you need things like cooling towels because there is little shade and little chance of cooling off anywhere. And if you run out of liquid to drink you will pay for it. There is an air conditioned room by the ambulance but it looks like you can only get in if you start to pass out but if the door is open you can feel the breeze. We ended up taking Lyft to the game and walked back to Mass Ave to MacNivens for a beer before grabbing a ride home. read more

So... four stars for the soccer stadium itself but two stars for the amenities and signage. I was with the away fans and our seats were in outer space, but the vantage point wasn't bad and the stadium didn't feel so big that I couldn't concentrate on the game itself. It's actually kind of pretty, in a way, with views of the city on three sides and what made for an incredible sunset. There are apparently bathrooms IN the stadium but they were too difficult to find and I ended up going to the line of port-a-pottys (which was fine). The food and beverage options also weren't great and while the staff was super nice (like, really, really nice), the quality just wasn't there (which is totally not their fault at all). If you're a soccer fan, definitely go to a game here. Indy Eleven just won their first home game and they actually looked pretty good. I have to give their fans credit, too, for being really welcoming and hospitable both before and after the match. Oh, also I think this stadium has some kind of historical importance and is the place they do time trials for the Olympics. So if you're into that kind of thing, go take a look! read more

Indy Eleven is a great addition to the community. In its third season, IUPUI, which makes tens of thousands of dollars selling student parking to Indy Eleven consumers, can't even be bothered to add real toilets with working sinks into the stadium. If you sit on the west side be prepared to stand in line for a portapotty. If you sit on the east side you'll get a real toilet, but ladies don't expect to be able to wash your hands.
