    Candles...oodles and oodles of candles
    Stephanie S.

Because it's newer, it's much nicer than the Square One location. There are many 'nooks' featuring different categories, re: Lifestyle, Self-Help, candles, scents, etc. The reason I'm even bothering to rate a chain is based on the niceness of the store AND customer service. I was looking for a 2015 agenda which the website stated this particular location had. So I drove out of my way to pick one up. There were apparently 9 in-stock. I found the section for planners and it was very small, so I had to ask an associate. Sarah was very helpful and she not only looked online to confirm what I was talking about, but she also went that extra step to find out which locations carried them, according to their website, AND call them to find out whether or not they had them on-hand. Rarely do I receive this type of customer service...unless it's commission-based. So when I do encounter sales associates like this, they definitely stand out!

Various books are available. The prices are the usual you'd expect a book would be. The service of the staff members is very helpful.

This location has a lot of gift and non-reading merchandise, but still a lot of variety in terms of reading materials.

On entering the building, follow a beautifully carved wood railing, up to the 2nd floor. The bookstore fills a studio with an assortment of thoughtfully displayed books and tasteful gifts. They have a cute kids section too. What a gem of a place to pick up a wonderful book for yourself or a special person! The owner was friendly and excited to offer book recommendations. They have a small curated stock but also take book orders for pick up. She mentioned since covid, there is sometimes a shipping delay. I appreciate how honest and upfront she was about orders. Street parking is metered but the small side streets are not.

There is a Tea Room on the first floor along with a couple other shops. There isn't a ton of books readily available but reasonable for the boutiqueness of it. I was looking for a particular book for my niece for Christmas and much to my dismay I was unable to locate it at any of the big box stores. So after doing a quick Google search I found this book boutique. I inquired via email to see if they had it and they were able to order it for me- no payment down might I add. Fantastic! I picked up my book (no extra charge!) And made a little girl very happy! From what I was told they've only been there since Sep 2017, and I certain hope they stick around! As a book lover, especially actual books not screens, 5/5!

Mastermind Toys - Frost, Mastermind exclusive beanie boo

I normally dread stepping into a toy store especially Toys R Us... half the time it's controlled chaos with rampant kids running about screaming. And those are the sales associates. Going into a toy store near Christmas requires planning that rivals the landing of a country leader into Pearson. So imagine my surprise that Mastermind is actually a different experience. The store is a coloured in bold vibrant primary shades. It does sit in a strip mall area that is normally terrible for parking. With one of the largest dim sum spots in Mississauga, the medium sized lot easily gets overwhelmed. The nice thing is that Mastermind has 5 (or 6) spots just for them only... the signs are marked off. So it's actually quite easy to find a spot. The store itself isn't very big... especially when you look east across the street and see the mammoth Toys R Us and Babies R Us. This mastermind is maybe... 20% of the floor space of Toys R Us. But what it is missing in size, it makes up in other ways. The place is super well organized, easy to spot everything, unbelievably clean, and run by associates who are fairly attentive. Everything is marked clearly with big signs and you do have a well curated selection of good stuff. They only stock well known brand names of quality and not some low quality item just to fill shelves. They have the latest scooters, science toys, build your own robots, a nice medium sized selection of really good books for all ages, the latest hot toys (I think at the time it was Fingerlings), stuff animals including the ever popular Beanie Boos, Legos (lots and lots), arts and crafts, ... you can tell this goes on and on. It caters towards every price range too. You can find build your own robot sets as low as $15 to large lego sets for $100 to a GIANT realistic looking 7 foot GIRAFFE at $800 (I think thats how much it was). I came here with the intention of finding an unique cute little thing for a gift and instantly found the Mastermind exclusive Beanie Boos fox. Perfect. Done and easy with super friendly sales associate cashing me out. So if you're needing a toy and want to save your sanity... you could go to online OR bring that little one with you to this store. It's as relaxing as you can get for stepping into a toy store

Going into this store for the first time was a bit of an eye-opener. I'd passed it many times in years past but never mustered up the courage to actually commit to visiting until I was in the area and killing time. The shop itself is dingy, filled with a high percentage of random junk and staffed by employees who are VERY laid back. As I walked in, I overheard a customer talking with a cashier about the latter's lunch break for several minutes. The most interesting thing about this place is, due to its proximity to a large number of historic sites and historical societies in the village, there are some interesting opportunities to pick up some vintage items if you know what you're looking for. Rooting around the book section, I found a large stack of books from the early 1900s, including one that was all about Canada's lieutenant-generals and a near-first edition of Mazo de la Roche's "Jalna". Unfortunately, it looks like a hurricane hit the place. There's no real rhyme or reason to the layout, with clothes seemingly strewn about. Unlike other SA locations with dumpy presentations, there wasn't a whole lot of selection on the day I went. Everything looked picked over, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a prime target/hangout for seniors. If you're going to visit this thrift shop, keep your expectations firmly in check. There's some good stuff to be found here, but the presentation leaves much to be desired.
