The place is well put together and from the care taken when making a reservation with a stylist i had met elsewhere to making the next res., I was very pleased. I had been a lost soul wandering for quite some time, trying to find a stylist that could live up to the longtime relationship I had forged with a stylist in Boston. As a curly haired client, this salon falls into the category of "knows how to cut but not always how to style." I've had my hair done curly by 3 different stylists and they do a great job of consultation and the cut and coloring process, but when it comes to styling I sometimes walk out looking like a frizzy mess. The last stylist I had asked me if she could go over my hair on a couple pieces with a curling iron! Thankfully she did ask and I said no, but a seasoned curly stylist would never have to fix pieces with a curling iron, they know how to style it with proper moisture, working products in, and diffusing with as minimal friction as possible. Molly was the best stylist in terms of having minimal frizz when I left, but otherwise I usually restyle when I get home if I need to go somewhere. If you're looking for a salon that knows about curly products, coloring, and cuts, then it's a great place for that, but you may still walk out looking frizzy. I started coming here about 8 months ago. Marissa is my stylist, and she is amazing! She has transformed my hair, I was box color black and in the process of lightening to brown/light blonde. Marissa safely lightened my hair over a few sessions, she maintained the integrity of my hair, and the price was more than fair for the amount of work she does. She pays close attention to detail, is honest, and will not do services just to overcharge you (which I have experienced in the past). My hair is in the best state it has ever been. I will never see anyone else or go back to box color!!! I always am getting compliments on my hair. My mother goes to this salon , she sees SheiLagh who also is another talented stylist! My moms hair always look on point. My mom and I have seen Paige (esthetician) for brows and she is a eyebrow waxing genius! I started coming here about a year ago, and can't speak highly enough of this salon. Warm, welcoming, relaxed, and clean environment . Sam T is the definition of perfection when it comes to haircutting and coloring, especially with my difficult thick hair. (And maybe my occasional COVID19 box dye mistakes) . Sam is amazing when it comes to changing up colors, or trying a new cut I don't trust just anyone with my eyebrows, if you're anything like me, T. Hines is your girl! She's perfected the art and gives 110% with every service . I have also had my lashes lifted and tinted over the past several months, which has been life changing . A very mixed review for Indigo. My husband has gotten his hair cut 3 or 4 times by the same junior-level stylist here, and it's never consistent. He feels that he isn't listened to when he says how much length he wants taken off, etc, and the quality of the cut varies widely. I also got my hair cut once by the same stylist, and it was just average. I also feel like I wasn't really listened to 100% when I emphasized how low-maintenance I wanted the cut to be and how I don't do anything to my hair. All of this is fine, they're a beginner, etc.... BUT. For both my husband and I, when we've gone to check out and the staff member working at the desk has asked if we want to put gratuity on our credit card (rather than cash in a little envelope), this particular stylist has STOOD THERE AND WATCHED HOW MUCH WE TIP THEM. I was absolutely appalled when this happened to me, and today it happened to my husband too. It was so unprofessional, in my opinion. We're both good tippers by default, but to have someone standing and watching when you're asked how much you'd like to tip is just a big ol' no, I believe. The stylist cutting the hair of the woman next to me when I was there looked awesome and seemed to be doing a phenomenal job on her client (red hair, tattoos), but I don't think either my husband or I will be back. read more

She is the happiest person and it is a pleasure chatting with her as she does my hair. She also provides personalized advice for my hair. I wanted to give this place 5 stars.. my stylist was awesome, she listened to what I wanted & walked me through the process. My color came out great.. My problem is that I was quoted $105 for a partial foil NO cut & an extra $20 for "glaze" so when I went to check out I was shocked that it was almost $100 more than what I was told when I called. I have short hair & didn't get anything other than the partial foil with glaze. I didn't want to cause a scene so just paid the $215 & left but you can get the same service at most places for no more than $150 (and that's the high end) I'll be returning to my regular hairdresser who's further away but never more than $110.00 & never surprise bills :( read more

The only thing keeping me from giving this place five stars is the fact that I had to come back three times to achieve the look I wanted. While the first two attempts at hair color were unsuccessful, after voicing my unhappiness to the owner, Lori, she took it upon herself to work with me and correct the issue herself. And she did a fantastic job; not only did she fix the color, but she gave me exactly what I'd wanted from the very beginning, and I couldn't be happier with my hair. I absolutely love it. I would recommend coming to this salon, but be a little wary: "Fashion colors" don't seem to be in high demand for their clients (I went for a dark, navy blue balayage), and I would make sure to communicate what you want when booking your appointment so that they can be sure to schedule you with someone who's comfortable working with those colors (if you can't get Lori, that is). read more

I wish I could give Indigo more than 5 stars, which is why I'm choosing to write a second updated review. As mentioned in my first review, I started coming to Indigo only to get a haircut with Lori. I had always dyed my hair red with henna at home, and was a little afraid of standard dye. Once I decided to go for it, Lori's color expertise made it easy and fun (two things I could never say about DIY henna!) - and affordable. I know that for the same level of quality and service, I'd EASILY pay double the price tag in Boston. I get so many compliments on my color and cut - at least a few a week! All thanks to Lori! I've also started getting regular mani/pedis with Lisette - and I look forward to them almost more than anything else! She's fun and personable, but also makes my heels soft and smooth while helping me pick out awesome glitter polishes. What more could you ask for? I also do brow waxes and an occasional facial, all of which have gone smoothly. All of the staff I interact with on a regular basis have been friendly, courteous, and professional. I always feel pampered and appreciated. In my last review I stated that I wished I could give 6 instead of the maximum 5 stars to Indigo Salon and Day Spa. Well, I would like to retract that statement and give more stars to Indigo than there are on Oscar night ;oP Since my last appointment, the haircut that Lori gave me just grew more kickass with each day. Consider this: when my hair was Cousin Itt long and kissed my knees, people would always say, "Wow, you have such beautiful hair. I wish I had it." After my follicle uprising and Lori's subsequent rescue/miracle cut, people would tell me, "I love your hair! It really frames your face well." See the difference? As a chick with a unique face shape (bowling ball shaped with a mango chin), Lori actually cut it so that I could rock the uber short hair. Charlie Sheen regaining sanity would be the only thing that would constitute a bigger miracle. Everything about Indigo is top-notch. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I've lobbed questions at the aesthetician and at Lisette about skin care and massage services that would be ideal for my momma and me, and they were a wealth of information. Megan did an incredible job of washing my hair...so relaxing! My momma loved her shellac manicure with Lorraine. My momma's comments about Lorraine: "I like how she shaped my nails. My fingers looked pale breakfast sausage before, but after, it looked sexy." Indigo is really bringing up the spa and salon game in District 5. If you live in Middlesex County and are too lazy/feeling hot to trek to Newbury Street (where parking spots are as rare as a Lohan family brain cell), then go to Lowell. My mother decided to surprise me with a facial + massage for my birthday and what a surprise it was! I had the pleasure of having Rosa preform both on me and I left the place absolutely glowing and feeling like a new person. She was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her for anyone looking to receive either services. Update: After more than a year, I have to up my rating. Now that I'm a regular, the stellar service and quality of work is even more obvious. I get a little crazy with my hair, and now Laurie knows that if she thinks purple is a good choice, go for it. I trust her enough that I can just sit down and say "whatever you're in the mood for" and Laurie comes up with something brilliant that I love. When it comes to service, I'm blown away. Most recent example: I bought some products after a cut and went on my merry way. An hour or so later, Laurie called me to tell me they were running a special on the stuff I bought (I didn't know about the special) and she'd forgotten to give me the discount, so she'd put it on my account for the next time. Brianna was my stylist and listened carefully to what I wanted, and blended the ideas from my Pinterest idea board perfectly. I'm new to the area and was nervous about finding someone to keep up my strawberry blonde shade. I lucked into finding Megan, who is herself a strawberry blonde with fair skin. As far as I'm concerned, she's a genius with highlights and red shades. When I wanted to go a little darker, she helped me choose the perfect shade and expertly blend my natural color. Once when I couldn't get in with Megan, I opted to have one of her colleagues do a single process, copper red, all-over color. It wound up fading out and becoming very uneven after only one wash. I called the salon and they were super professional and accommodating about redoing the color at no charge. The second application was really beautiful and I get compliments all the time. read more

Bad customer service experience today...My husband bought their revitalize package as Christmas gift for myself & dtr. We tried to booked during her college break (1 month) but they couldn't accommodate us for all 3 services so they said "just come in for the mani/pedi & do the facials later." I tried to book during my dtr's March break but they had no openings, again. Finally booked a facial together today. Then they told me I had to pay for the additional facial b/c I broke up the package. The owner was not accommodating & made me feel as if it was my fault that her employees did not tell me that I could not do the facials at another time. No where on the website does it say the pkg cannot be broken up and even the receptionist was unaware. I felt bullied, disrespected and she attacked my integrity; will not be returning or referring. read more

Always wanted to try this place since it's other location in Lowell, but never had the time to. I loved my esthetician even though I don't remember her name ( I'm not very good with names sorry). She explained all the steps she was going to do in the facial and what the products do. She was very nice and always made sure I was comfortable. I left one star off because the prices were not updated online and I almost got charged more. However, the lady at the front desk adjusted the price for me very easily (with manager's approval). Since it was Monday, the place was quiet with soft music playing from the embedded speakers in the ceiling... Filled out my client card and soon my aesthetician name Marcy came and greeted me, took me to my facial room...as she started on my facial, I felt really relaxed and comfortable... She took her time giving me a great facial and my skin just glowed right after... Very happy with the result...I booked another appointment for 2 weeks for a basic facial... I'm also an aesthetician( but haven't been practicing it for awhile) and hair stylist, so I am pretty picky and have higher expectation cuz I know what it should be like. read more

I called to book an appt for a partial foil cover grey and hair cut aske 3 time what the price was was told 125 book appt had my hair done. 5 hrs later went to check out was told it was 230 plus 20% off = 185 I was shocked and told the girl at the desk I was told 125-20% off not paying 185 after 40 mins of disagreeing the owner got on the phone and said if I dont pay she will take it from the hair dresser who did my hair . They just lost a customer. A friend recommended Indigo salon to me and I needed a new nail salon. I went and got a manicure. The technician was a little critical of me but I thought she did a good job and made another appointment for my next mani two weeks later. I ran a couple of minutes late, but less that five. Then I had to wait for the technician for another five minutes. After she did my cuticles she said no hand massage because I was so late. She said they told her they paged her but she didn't hear it... so my fault for being late. But I said maybe one more chance so I made another appointment. I got a reminder call yesterday but when I showed up, they had no record of my appointment. Poor employee attitude. Poor record keeping. I'll find a new salon ---------------- Update: The manager called me after I left the salon yesterday. She said she had just been told about the problem when I came in and they couldn't find my appointment. We talked a few minutes and I told her I really was not impressed with the employee attitudes and record keeping. She offered me a free manicure if I came back in that day - not an option for me and I wasn't really interested in going back there. She did call me again this morning. I will give her credit that she did try to resolve the mystery of my appointment. I do admit that I could easily have messed up the appointment or not made an appointment when I left the salon last time - which I have been known to do - but I usually make a follow up appointment when I leave each appointment. I could also have finally emptied my voicemail and got an old message. That part could very well be my fault. But, I still won't go back. Why? 1. The first time I went, I got a lot of attitude and felt very criticized by the nail tech. 2. The second time I went I got a lot of attitude from the nail tech and didn't get my full manicure. I was going to give them one last try after those two experiences. 3. The third time I went, even if it is completely my fault on the non-existent appointment and I did finally clean out my voice mail and heard and old message, it wasn't a good experience. When you arrive at a salon, do you expect someone at reception? I do. There wasn't. She was in a back room. After a couple of minutes she stuck her head out and looked at me. After another minute, she said 'oh, are you being helped?'. Well no, because there is no receptionist. She did try to find my appointment in the system and when she couldn't she just said basically that we don't have anything and didn't offer to make me a new appointment or see if she could do anything for me. So I said 'you just lost a customer' and left. I'm not trying to single out the salon or feel I am overly critical. But its been a long time since I have felt I was treated that badly, mostly by the nail tech. read more

She is amazing and so patient, she got my hair from black to blonde to grey to blue to brunette. The staff is so friendly care about you and your needs. I just left this absolutely beautiful and elegant Salon and Day Spa after my appointment with Paige for a full set of eyelash extensions!! I have to say.... she was phenomenal!! A true professional! Buyer beware. I went to this salon and got my eyebrows, nails and hair done. Worst experience ever. Only half the nail was painted. The eyebrows were barely touched. My hair fell out by the time I got to my party. I contacted the manager and she was rude. She lied about refunding my money. Lori is an insanely talented hairstylist...an artist really!! I travel from Newton to Lowell just to have my hair done by her! I've never left Indigo unsatisfied...I've always left THRILLED!! I get tons of compliments on my hair cut, color and style no matter where I go! I like to have fun with my hair color and Lori is always making suggestions or doing something different that just comes out more amazing than the last time!! I used to have unruly hair and issues with my skin. Since coming to Indigo and using the products that Lori recommended...I look forward to showing off how amazing my hair and skin look and feel! I've been waxed a few times and had facials as well. The girls have always listened to my wants and needs and provided above and beyond service to make sure I got what I wanted...and then some.
