This is our go-to place for getting goat meat. My parents even drive all the way from Bastrop or ask me to make the trip - just to pick it up. We usually call ahead to place an order so it's ready for us in the freezer when we arrive, which makes checkout quick and easy. I DONNT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!! I called to place and order for chicken and this isn't the first time and the owner is always rude. If the owner is rude and doesn't have good customer service how do you want people to come to your store!!!! I told him I want a small weight chicken he started yelling at me and telling me I can't give you the weight that you want!!! I did not give him a specific weight. He told me the smallest that I have is 3 pound I was like OK I want 3 pound!!! Then he started yelling and telling me I can't give you the way that you want, like what !!!! I came 20 minutes earlier because they open at 10 am. I waited six minutes and the people first guy open the door and slam the door behind him. Didn't even say sorry for waiting or whatever. The other guy said good morning and the small guy open the door, and when I passing he looked at me and he talked with himself he said something in his language in Pakistani or in Indian or whatever either he cursed, or he said something and I told him excuse me what did you say , he says no, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the other guy and he wasn't because he was on the door opening it the other side of the door and the other guy is all the way , and where the freezer is, where the tomatoes, bad Service, overpriced and you cannot find anything you want most of the time with this attitude they had. I went in prices was lower and they are welcome you very nice people, I spend it over $100 which, if I bought what I bought in Indo supermarket I would've spend about $250. This is a small store but it has a good variety. I wish I read some of the reviews though on the expiration date of a few things, I bought a jar of ginger that expires this month so that was a waste since it was probably sitting there for a good year or so to expire that soon. They have a good variety of spices, rice, noodles, tea, some frozen items and fish/meat that is halal. My mom said that the goat there was good. Tried to sell me meat piece with extra bone that's not normally included even though they weigh their meats (so I'd be paying for the price of bone that I didn't ask for). When I spoke to the owner, he said he can do it and charge me more for removing the bone. Zero/10 for customer service. This place is diagonal to Randalls (in the Dunkin Donuts shopping center) This place is as good as it gets for me because (1) it's very close to my house, (2) they carry the stuff I need, and (3) they help me figure out what certain things are when I am completely cluless and like a fish out of water. The people who work there are all super nice and helpful. I am actually going back today to get two masala (spice) mixes which reminded me to write this YELP review. For those who like Indian foods (like butter chicken, for example), they sell mixes where you can make it at home, impress your friends and not have to actually go to a restaurant to get it! The stuff you get here is way outdated compared to other grocery stores. Keeps frozen fish, which I don't know is how many years old. The people who work here are friendly, and the meat market has a large variety of Halal meets to choose from. I especially like the chicken and beef. The chicken is wholesome and not all pumped up with injected flavorings, and the beef fresh as it is ground to order. There is a large selection of spice packets so you can make all sorts of interesting Pakistani and Indian dishes. There is also a large selection of dals, flours, and rice as well as a good selection of frozen foods. I loved this store...... until today. I've never felt so unwelcomed. Customer service is out the window when the older guy is working the front. He's always rude. I'm used to picking up meat from HEB so I wasn't sure how to order beef here bc it's not pre cut. I asked the old man if they had beef he said "yes, what do you want?" bc he had to put the order in. I said well I'm not sure how y'all l do it or how to order it here and he rolled his eyes and said I can't cut it if you don't know what you want. As good as the store is for spices & other Indian grocery items the service is definitely out the window. Went in last fri . waited for aprox. 30min to find out that it would be about 30 mins for before they would even cut my meat. So left my order went to run some errands came back later to pick my meat. They had some of the ready but not all. had to wait some 20mins to get the complete order. The Filet Mignon I should have got was not filet. after paying $26.+ for about 3lbs the owner refused to accept that I had got the wrong meat. Indo pak in Round Rock, Tx has the worst customer service. Let me tell you about my experience: I bought a hot mix(indian version of potato chips or a savory snack). It had gone bad. I bought it on Friday and went to return it on Sunday. Three days later. The lady who works as a cashier(she wears a hajib). Nice lady but when it comes to customer service she is lacking. She was the one that checked me out on Friday and even acknowledged it. She refused to return it or even exchange it for a better one. Did not even look up or acknowledge me, forget the attention or smile she gives you when you have bought something, if you are returing something that has gone bad or poor quality, you won't get it. She was on her phone the whole time that I was talking to her. How rude!!!!!! The other horrible experience: I went in for only for 2 items and the total was $4.99. Their CC minimium is $5.00 She first refused and said that she could not do it since her minimum was $5. I told her that the nice gentlemen (manager) that works there did it for me a number of times and she was still hesitant and said that I needed to find something else to add to my items. I told her sorry but I don't need anything else and was about to leave and the manger, I think he is the manager, told her to stop being petty in hindi and let me use the CC. If you do shop here please check the expiration dates, I have seen that a lot of mango, pickle bottles that have been expired for at least 6 months. Ambica food in Round Rock has excellent customer service and has great Indian groceries that are fresh at a great price and are super clean and friendly. They are far away from me and I avoid I-35 like the plauge. From now on, I will make the journey to Ambica. It took a lot of reflection for me to decide to write this review. I had such a bad experience that I wanted to wait to make sure that I wasn't being unfair. I have shopped here before and felt welcome. When the Mexican Muslim guy was there, it was a nice, warm inviting space. I go there because as a mixed Muslim American woman, I felt comfortable finding religious items as well as Halal foods. My son has very little exposure to Muslim Americans and as my father has passed it's important to me to keep him grounded in things that shape and are a part of his cultural identity. I have usually had such a pleasant experience showing him all fo the different veggies (they used to have a great selection), the Kulfi, the hair items. So in short, when I go, I often spend quite a bit so I am all set for my home cooking. This time, I was really upset at the way I was treated in front of my very impressionable 3-year-old son. I went in, saw no baskets, so I told my son, it's ok, we will hold our stuff. We walked around, shopped, we were enjoying ourselves, and as we shopped, I put items on the counter. There was a young woman there, she said nothing to me, no hello, no nothing, not a word. I speak Urdu/Hindi so if that was a native language for her, she could have said something to me. I continue shopping and when ready to pay, an older man reprimands me sternly, You CAN"T Put items on the counter. Well, I was shocked because where else would he like me to put them? I said well I didn't see a basket, so I needed to put them somewhere. He says again sternly with a slightly raised voice, Miss you can't put them there where will the customers put their items. So at this point, I am baffled, aren't I a customer??? Where am I going to put our items if there was no basket available? He rudely starts arguing with me so I told him that I couldn't believe he was arguing with me, a paying customer...? I asked, "Why are you treating me this way...?" What disappointed me was that all of the customers are now looking at me, as if I must have done something wrong. I'm baffled as to why the girl is saying nothing as she saw me put the items there. In short, it was such a disturbing exchange that I was so flustered and I didn't want to lose my temper in front of my son, I left. They saw me, for a good 20 minutes walking around the store, speaking to my son in Hindi, couldn't someone have brought me a basket if it was such a problem. Our hands were quite full at this point. She, the girl who worked there saw me. The older lady saw me speaking to my son in Hindi the whole time and shopping. The disgust on the older woman's face, the baffled look on the daughter's face, and the tone, anger and look of the manager's face are enough to make sure that my son doesn't equate Muslims with this experience. I care enough about my culture to never let him experience that again. It's sad because I walk into the Hindu market and they treat me so kindly and with such respect. It's not about the religion but for someone who is trying to maintain roots to their culture, and I have such a small community to draw from every experience is impactful, especially for a 3 year old. What kind of message are you sending the world if you treat some patrons better than others? And I for one know that this is not normal behavior for any people I don't want other customers to equate this person's rudeness to a whole people. So my son and I, will never shop there again. Costco now has Halal meat and goat. If you read my reviews you can see it takes a lot for me to write a bad one. It takes a lot to make me angry. read more

Went in for the first time a few weeks ago after passing by many times and wondering...should I go in? Well, we finally did and it was well worth it. The spices are amazing, large bags and quite fresh tasting. I went in looking for ghee, which is harder to find in RR than you might imagine. They actually had a variety of ghee, the naan I bought up from was also fantastic. Looking forward to going in with an actual shopping list next time. So this is my spice store now... And also my go-to store for other ingredients from the Indo-Pak region. I love Indian and Pakistani food. Unfortunately for the restaurants I'm on a diet that excludes many ingredients common in most dishes in most restaurants. So I've had to learn how to make my own recipes, while trying to maintain the authentic flavor... As it turns out, that is not very hard. Having a grocery store nearby that has the right ingredients is key. In this store, they sell the spices in rather large packages, as compared to a typical American chain store. So you can expect a 200 gram package of fresh spice to cost between $1.50 and $2.50 for most items. In American stores you normally expect 20 gram packages of spices to cost about $3 to $6... So the prices are 20 to 40 times lower in price than at Walmart or HEB...I generally spend a LOT of money on spices, even when I buy the HEB bulk spices. And these are available fresher than HEB bulk, and they are available whole, most of HEB's bulk items are pre-ground, which go stale so much faster, and are probably already stale from sitting in clear glass full of air under high-UV commercial lighting. I have not tried the Indo-Pak meat department yet, but when I was shopping for spices, I observed some men waiting for their orders to be freshly processed by the butcher. So the meat department appears to be a place where you get the kind of personal service that is not as common as it used to be. I did look at the prices, and they are outstanding. If I had not already shopped for meat the day before, I would be shopping here for meat today. This is a big store crammed into a small space, but was clean and well organized. Friendly and helpful staff, great international products, beautiful fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit. Mangoes are in stock right now, and are perfectly delicious. And I always pick up large bundles of dill and mint at an amazing price. This is my go-to spot for lentils, and I aim to try every kind they have. I especially love the red lentils (so quick and easy to cook) and the black matpe beans. I also love their selection of rices, spices, tea biscuits, teas, and more!
