I have become an ALDI! Yes, in ALDI! I didn't know about this grocery store until a few years ago. It was when I moved to Houston that I discovered ALDI. But I didn't get the chance to shop there. Fast forward, I was in Georgia for a few months, went inside, and fell completely in love. It is such a great grocery store. So when I came to Austin, I just assumed they didn't have one, but to my surprise, I discovered the ALDI sign as I was driving to another store. I find my go-to and mostly a variety of food that I love. I find other items I haven't tried before, but now do. They also have the best selection of meats, veggies, and fruit. The freshest of fruit, I must add. I love the wide selection of candies, crackers, and cookies. My favorite is the miniature Reese's cups and the fruit gummies. I like that when I can't find an item, someone is there to help. I like the layout of the store; it's very open with maybe 4 to 5 aisles. I went to Aldi the other day after a long walk at Lake Pflugerville. I've been to this location multiple times prior to this most recent visit. You need to know that if you want a cart, you need a quarter. You put the quarter into the slot to "release" the cart lock and then when you are done, if you return the cart to its spot, you get your quarter back. The store has what I would say is the typical Aldi selection - more than a Trader Joe's, but less than an HEB. The prices are typically less than other stores assuming you aren't brand name specific in your tastes. The staff are the quickest at the check out ever - true to Aldi's reputation. Just know that you'll be bagging your groceries yourself at the counter beyond the cash registers as there is no time to bag them at the checkout line. The store has wide aisles and while it may not be the most well organized space, the signage is clear about what is where. Overall, I would definitely visit this store when in the general area. read more

I've been to this grocery store twice. Each time I came it had to be a pre-planned trip since I live in S. Austin. The prices are somewhat good but not worth a trek up here. When we got there the lines were long, and there were only 5 registers. The cashiers are able to be seated unlike other grocery stores where you have to stand for your whole shift. They will ring your stuff up and then you move the cart to the side and bag it yourself. read more

Pretty good experience! This was my first time going to an Aldi and I was quite pleased with the location. A lot of Aldi generic branded items with a mix of branded merchandise. It reminds me of like a Ross...the Ross of grocery stores. The parking was on the smaller side so bring your patience looking for parking. There was only one lane with a cashier and the rest were self check out lanes. The ambiance was busy but well lighted and for the most part organized. Will visit again. I did notice that certain aisles had boxes of items just tossed into shelves. I will leave the benefit of the doubt here because it may be patrons moving it. Cousin so I went over to Aldi and was thinking that I was going to be able to get some good grabs which I did how the best thing to do is to go early in the morning. Sitting in the parking lot like you wait o'clock in work because, they are well stocked, but when you go an hour before they close, you might miss out on some great deals. The parking lot was crowded throughout the night and store was packed as well. I was able to get some things that I needed from my meal prep, but I'll tell you never again. It's just like Trader Joe's, but with a pervasive sense of desperation and sadness! I get that bargains are an attraction and there are definitely some great deals to be found, but not nearly enough to make a trip worth it. You can fill up a cart with random impulse buys without making a dent in the list of things you came in for. Besides that, it's just a terrible experience. The aisle are too narrow when it gets busy, many of the aisles were poorly stocked or completely bare, half the checkouts were closed, the cart ate my quarter upon return... The store never has any items consistently, the food is usually already bad, and there are cockroaches on the floor. The place feels cheap and run down . Also never do a DoorDash order here the store isn't capable and they never have any items listed. Just don't stop here go anywhere else. They don't deserve your money, trust me. I don't understand the Trader Joe's comparisons, unless people are talking about the layout being similar. It kind of feels like a store going out of business with a few cases of discounted products left. This was my first time here and it was honestly a pleasant surprise. I found a few organic products worth coming back for. The staff were friendly. Overall, it's an odd little store, but finding organic products at a much cheaper price kind of made the shopping experience fun because everything is not really organized...like as if I struck gold lol. If you don't have a problem with that, then I recommend shopping here. Feels local, and yet International with its' roots from Germany. Perfect for a place like Pflugerville. They have door busters to get you in, but not after you 'rent' a cart by sliding in a quater. Don't worry, you'll get it back when you return your cart back to its stalls. Now, the wipes to wipe down your cart always seem to be out. And they changed the lay out which I think is way better! When entering, you start with the produce aisle first. My go to things to get at Aldi are: produce, cheese, low carb tortilla, fresh meats and salmon, chicken thighs. Then there are these aisles with Seasonal things, currently garden and Independence Day stuff. Fantastic! Original! Great candles. Even clothes. But those areas seem to get messy fast. All in all, my go to place when I miss Germany. I've lived in The Netherlands for 25 years, and Germany was just a short quick trip. Also very convenient is size, when I don't want to deal with a large grocery store and can go in and out quickly. read more

Amazing prices! I have been curious to shop at Aldi because Pinterest has so much good things to say about #AldiFinds. Their rosé has been voted "best" rosé at best price point in the U.S! That's what brought me here, tbh! It's true, it's so cheap! We picked up some bottled and boxed organic food items but didn't buy produce as they didn't look fresh. I knocked a star off because the place is dirty. There's trash on the floor and the floor is not wiped-looks grimy. I wish this store can be cleaner. It literally takes a few minutes for the staff to clean up but I guess it's not priority. Love Aldi. Hate Aldi. It just really depends on so many factors because each visit seems to be different from the others in terms of availability of items. Overall though I really don't mind that it's not a sprawled out store big enough to fit a football stadium. I tend to squirrel a lot and if they were big like that, I'd probably be here a lot longer than I need. The past couple of years I've cycled in and out of keto and I usually don't have any issues finding items to fit that when I am active on it (they have plenty of charcuterie stuff to pick from!) Of course when I'm not, everything is fair game. Some off-brands have been hit or miss in regards to flavor too. Never had issues with customer service as most of the time they leave you alone to shop in peace (thank goodness) and then cashiers are usually friendly. If you need to use the restroom it's also a hit or miss but even on the 'miss' days, I don't recall it ever being completely trashed or anything. P.S. Don't forget your quarter for the cart. If you don't have one, the cashiers are cool with you asking to break some cash down for it. read more

Their store brands are almost always just as good - if not better - than the name brands and I always stock up on meats and cheeses when I come. I wish they were more consistent with their stock of certain products but, otherwise, love shopping here. I just wish they'd open a location down south! read more

Finally checked this place out here in Pflugerville. I have been to one before in Killeen so I knew what it was like and what it offers. I walked in not thinking that I needed a cart...always happens to me! Then I end up carrying my items. I forgot to bring a bag to put my items in, but I had it in the trunk so I easily put it in once I left. I forgot the cashiers put your stuff in a cart so you can bag your items on the counter behind the cashiers. The parking lot wasn't packed when I got there around 10:15 on a Saturday. I personally don't think I can do all my grocery shopping here since I need ingredients I didn't see here. What I do like is that they have some cool stuff I want to try. We bought garden herb noodles, organic brown rice and quinoa penne, cacciatore sauce and spicy red pepper sauce. Can't wait to try it out! I will definitely be back when I am cooking a recipe to pick up some items here. read more

I've been there twice now, had to check it out. People are great at helping you, but it's hard to find what you want, kind of a Trader Joes vibe. But the price are not very good, a mish mash of odd overstock-like products for sale. If I'm in the area, I only go now to pick up some Winking Owl wine, excellent for the price. Have no idea what the other wines taste like; not about to spend money on beers and wines I know nothing about. I bought two 6 packs of a Hill Country Bock beer, terrible beer! Very bitter. Bock is suppossed to have a low IBU. This had added hops to make into an IPA to appease the posers who think they like bitter beer. 6 of us at a BBQ and I couldn't give that beer away. So, no more beer buys at Aldis. read more

This location isn't close to me at all, but once in a while I like to take a trip out here and check out what they have. Sometimes you can find good deals on alcohol. If you've never been in an Aldi's it's sort of a small warehouse feel. Boxed and canned foods are knock off brands. Prices are low and the taste isn't that much different. I bought a bag of "cool ranch" chips, like Doritos, but not. Pretty much had the same taste to them and a fraction of the price. They do have other things then just groceries. Toys, clothing, decor baskets, seasonal items. I like walking up and down the isles and see what's a good deal and what's new. read more

My new favorite grocery store! If you don't care about name brands (although they do carry a few), you won't find a cheaper grocery store. Their prices are as they should be. I knock off one star for two reasons: 1. Their selection of produce could be better, and 2. They only have one location, out in Pflugerville. I feel like Austin's a late addition to the Aldi network because I know Iowa's had them for decades and Atlanta he no less than 8 of these stores. Anyway, for *most* of your shopping list, Aldi is a very inexpensive, no-frills shop. Their staff is also very helpful and efficient. Aldi has a reputation for low prices and at the same time, respectable food. My visit today reinforced that. I got tons of groceries for $35.00, so that helps my budget. So far, I ate some barbecue potato chips, and although that didn't knock my socks off, they pleased my taste buds. The label said, "no artificial flavors"; that is cool as I expected MSG. I love to see the undeveloped field next to this store. I have this fear that developers will develop all of Texas soon and we will have no natural green space left, so I cling to this. Finally...after 25 years... Austin finally gets an ALDI. Yup. That's how long I've been waiting for this. Coming from a place that has an ALDI in almost every town, I have anxiously awaited their arrival. I used to stock up on my faves & bring them back with me. No more. ALDI has made it to the Austin area. To those who are comparing ALDI to Trader Joe's. That's like comparing watermelons to grapes. There is no comparison here. They're owned by the same company, but they're in no way in the same category. So just stop. ALDI is cheap. Really decent cheap stuff. It's great for staples. They have their own brands and it's pretty good stuff. Bargains galore. I like this particular store. It's HUGE compared to the stores I'm used to seeing. There may be a couple of reasons for this. It's the only store in the metro area. And the selection seems to be expanded. If not for the tight squeeze in the aisles, this would have been a near perfect experience. Don't forget your quarters for the cart thingie. Let them loose! But bring them back & get your quarter back. Yeah...I'm happy to have ALDI here. I love Aldi's, for those that don't get the business model or haven't shopped at one before then you might not have realistic expectations of what this place is all about. Big in Europe and Canada and across the Midwest, my understanding is that they are an offshoot of Trader Joe's BUT not somewhere to do the bulk of your grocery shopping just somewhere to come and get odds and ends. I got some really cheap wine and cappuccino flavored liqueur here and just random baking stuff, things on clearance, some cheap eggs, some good varieties of cheese. I like having it here, but I probably won't venture in more than once a month...but when I do, I expect my wallet not to take a hard hit! It is interesting how the bagging is here, I don't remember it being that way but you have a nice ledge past the cash registers to bag your own stuff (don't forget insulated bags, those save me now when I go shopping) and just always bring a quarter or pay it forward and give someone your quarter coming out if you feel like being nice! read more

Was shopping tonight and normally have good experience. Store was closing & I checked out & forgot an item after checkout. Very rude employee Mike starts walking towards me saying ma'am about 5 times so when he gets close I responded yes? He says we are closed so you need to go checkout now. I replied I had checked out and he said then you need to leave. I didn't think I heard him correctly so asked him to repeat and his response was you need to get out now. I then got his name and the managers name and told him his manager would be getting a call from me tomorrow. There are appropriate ways of doing things and this was not one of them. Also, no closing store announcement whatsoever. Mike needs a new job because he obviously doesn't have the temperament to deal with customers! If everything is bigger and better in Texas, then something got losses in the translation. I've been to a few of these stores overseas and they were bigger. Bigger as in Super Walmart size. Inside the store everything is organized and easy to find. I personally like the large yellow price tags, they allow me to leave my reading glasses in the car... which happens often. The isles are a decent size, but the carts are too wide. Smaller carts would allow for easier navigation. If the store was larger I can see the carts, but it's the size of a CVS and no one in the lines had a full cart. The people are friendly and willing to help people understand how the shopping cart system works. Unfortunately I can't see them handing out quarters everyday so bring your own quarter. Don't worry, you'll get it back when you return the cart. They have decent prices on some items... wine, milk and produce. They have a limited beer selection, but they all look good. Overall a must visit. The place was crowded on opening day so parking was impossible. I believe that once the buzz wears off this will be a good place to stop and get the essentials. Very excited about this discount supermarket in our neighborhood. It's a German-based grocery store chain that carries own good quality brand products made here as well imported from Germany! You may see some similarities with Trader Joe's or even Costco, just without membership fee. I like concept of the store itself where lower prices are kept due to labor cost control, carrying generic brands, indoor lighting and a few other things. Aldi store is different from traditional supermarkets in a number of ways, starting in the parking lot, where shoppers must pay a quarter to get a shopping cart. The quarter is refunded if the cart is returned to a corral in front of the store. Inside Aldi is significantly smaller than its competitors like H-E-B, Randall's, Target. It makes shopping easier and faster. Another difference: Customers bag their own purchases at a counter just beyond the registers. Don't forget to bring your reusable bags! I'll be honest, I'm not super impressed with this Aldi. They're regularly out of some of the cult favorites and it can get pretty crazy in there. It's a smaller store so it doesn't take as much to feel overwhelmed. When my partner was attempting to bag, the employee told her to stop. The employee threw our delicate items in the cart and on top of each other. No apologies, no care. Very upsetting. ALDI is an affordable supermarket option in the North Austin area. A few things to note: 1. Bring your own bags. They sell reusable or paper bags in case you forget. Or, you can grab a free paper box to hold your groceries 2. Bring a quarter to use the cart. They don't have baskets, so either use your own bag as a container, or you can put in a quarter for the cart. Don't forget to bring the cart back, and retrieve your 25¢. 3.
