TERRIBLE!! STAY AWAY!! Our family purchased an item that they had to order (not one mention of it…read morebeing a custom order). Once we got it home, it was determined the new fireplace wouldn't work for our space and we had to return it. They are charging a 20% restocking fee!!! Never once did they say anything about it being a "custom order/20% restocking fee." I tried to understand why the restocking fee; they said it was to mail the fireplace back. WAIT!!?? It's going to cost them $500 to mail it back to the manufacturer?? I offered to pay the shipping to return it to the manufacturer if that was the issue. They weren't interested in that; they want to collect their $500 "RESTOCKING FEE." We have done a lot of business with this place in the past. In fact, this past Spring, we purchased a large chimenea that is already cracked straight up the middle. It's ready for the trash. This place sure has gone downhill over the last 5 years that we've made purchases with them.

The store offers an array of grills, power tools, paints and general hardware supplies. The shelves are remarkably well organized and neat. Many shelves were empty as I assume they are preparing for spring inventory. Many items were on clearance including Yetis so there are some great deals. In the entry alcove is a fascinating history of the hardware store's evolution. The history dates back to at least 1889 when the store was located at 110 West Main Street in Carmel. The store has been owned by four families start with O. W. Nutt prior to 1889. Steve White bought the store in 1984 and built the current location on Rangeline Road in 1989. I love that someone took the time to capture the history. There's plenty of parking in their private lot. You can only enter or exit going north in Rangeline, but the roundabouts make going in the right direction easy.

This time, I purchased two very large belts, some oil and a filter. I took them home and installed them.........incorrectly. When I started the engine, it immediately shredded one of the new belts. Now, I'm 77 years old and its not an easy task for me to get up and down from my knees. So, I decided to load it on the trailer, swallow my pride and take in into Phoenix for them to install the 2nd new belt. Shane, Shawn's son, was exceptionally nice. He didn't even use the old standby "WE FIX DO IT YOURSELF REPAIRS". They had me going again in short order! A generic v-shaped metal brace to keep our American flag from breaking its plastic base in high winds was needed. Tim, the customer service man on duty, immediately walked me to the selection. The flag is now secured for a few bucks. Instead of having to buy a box of ten or twenty our local True Value will sell you one or a couple as needed.
