I wanted to update this review to say more good things about Indy Hound. We have done daycare and boarding now (including a whole week for our honeymoon) and we would never go anywhere else. Pete is a year old now and confident around dogs of all sizes! His good socialization is due in part to Indy Hound's care. The dogs are able to play with each other and the staff from 7a-7p before being kenneled for the night. Pete has always come home happy (and TIRED which says a lot because Bostons have lots of energy). The staff are amazing, know us and Pete well, and he gets excited to go in when we get there. The peace of mind that he's well taken care of while we are away is priceless, but Indy Hound's prices are also affordable, and they have add on services like baths and nail trims, which is very convenient. This is definitely the best place to take your dog for daycare or boarding in downtown Indy. read more

Indy Hound is the BEST place to take your dog. The staff are warm and welcoming, their is plenty of space for your dog to run around or relax by themselves, and the prices are fair. My dog always had a blast and is exhausted by the time she comes home. The staff are very engaged and know every dog personally. Not to mention, their social media is involved and hilarious. Indy.Hound is amazing! I have taken my Corgi puppy to Indy.Hound for the last 3 weeks and he absolutely LOVES going. I was a bit nervous at first since my pup is still young and the dogs aren't separated, but the evaluation that was done on his first day made me feel at ease and I think this has helped a lot with getting over his fear of bigger dogs. All of the staff is so friendly and they greet us as soon as we walk in the door. I also think Indy.Hound is affordable. I take my pup for half-days (6 hours or less) and it's only $17. He is tired for the rest of the evening as well as the next day, so we only need to go a few days a week to get his energy out. I also recommend following their Instagram if you have not. They always post pictures during the day and I love seeing my little man having a blast with his friends. :) read more

I picked my 8 month old Labrador up after a day of daycare to notice an hour later he was bleeding from his neck from a dog bite. I understand dogs can easily become injured playing, but this bite broke skin and was painful to touch. I emailed Indy hound and asked why I wasn't notified of this and they claimed that no staff member saw any incident with him that day. Instead of encouraging medical attention, the staff recommended I let it scab over, or bring him back for a member of their staff to evaluate him (???). Fortunately, I was able to get him into the vet the next day. The vet found that it was a moderately severe bite that was already forming an infected abscess, he absolutely needed medical attention but luckily not need surgery. Indy hound did pay for my vet bill. As I mentioned, I understand injuries are normal at a dog day care, but this was more than dogs playing around. Bite aside, my 1 star review is around how the incident was handled by the staff. In addition to what was mentioned above, I also asked Indy hound to further investigate the dog that gave this bite to make sure it would not happen again to anyone else. They played it off as a little scrape and that if I am not comfortable with my dog getting these type of injuries I should not bring him back. I later learned that 2 others that brought their dogs there came home with similar injuries, some requiring surgery, and they received the same unapologetic treatment. I hope this review encourages them to expand and better train staff so these injuries aren't missed so all dogs can enjoy a safe daycare experience! read more

Indy hound is the only daycare I take my dog to! They are friendly, safe, and very affordably priced. They put on a lot of fun events like Halloween costume contests, pup cups, pool days, and have even sent home Polaroids with the dogs in seasonal headbands. They also offer baths for the dogs, which is nice because they play all day here (and usually smell like it too)! They do not have cameras to check in on the pets but do a great job of posting on their Instagram. I can tell he enjoys it, when I drop my dog off he can't wait to get in the door. It's a nice place to take him in the winter, even working remote, when I can't get outside with him as much. read more

Each time I have brought my pup in, I always feel like they want to make sure my dog has a familiar face/scent to recognize. They seem to value the relationship, not just between my dog and his doggie friends, but between the staff and my dog. It really make drop off easy and exciting (especially when he sees certain staff)! The staff are always doing these cute activities. On Mother's Day, they gave me a homemade card with my dog's paw print as the flower. On Easter, they did a cute photoshoot with flower bandanas and bunny ears! These are always such a cute surprise! A simple before and after of a day at Indy Hound! Enough said. Stella who NEVER sleeps, let alone stays still in the car, had a blast!! The facility as a whole is so clean and is a great environment for dogs. The staff is very welcoming and nice and explained the whole process of signing up very well. I was very hesitant to take Stella to a daycare due to her not having her rabies shot yet, but she's still able to go since she's up-to-date for a 3 month old pup. Thank gosh! She is so energetic and I don't think I've seen her this tired since my boyfriend and I have gotten her. They do not allow anyone in the back due to sanitary reasons, but they told me that I could go on google and look up what it looks like! They allowed google to go in and take pictures for that reason. A spur of the moment decision to get Stella a day care center to go to was the best decision ever. She will definitely be back! What a great place in downtown Indianapolis to take your pup! I tried Indy Hound after finding a flyer at my downtown apartment complex. I called ahead and spoke with the owner who was very nice, gave me all the details, and I took my pup (Marley) in on a Monday morning. After a quick temperament test, I was very comfortable leaving Marley overnight and he had a great time! Just started bringing my pup here because of the pandemic. We've been home since March and our dog was getting cabin fever. It was an adjustment at first but he's starting to re-familiarize himself with daycare. Our vizsla has more energy than we know what to do with so Indy.Hound is the perfect outlet for him to play with his pup pals all day long. And every time we pick him up, he's as happy as can be and pleasantly worn out from the day's activities. The price is right and the hours are great, too. We've only used their day care but have heard good things from friends about overnight services. The staff is super friendly as well. We've been out and about in Indy with Ralston and some have come up to us to say hi to Ralston, calling him by name. They have a few vizslas that go there, so it's impressive that they can pick Ralston out... or maybe I should be worried about what he's been doing to make himself that impressionable... We love the photos they post on Instagram so we can see what he's up to during the day--if he sits still long enough for them to snap a picture. 10/10 recommend! read more

I'm sorry it's taken me this long to write a review for Indy Hound, but I've been a client of theirs for years. Alex and his staff are absolutely wonderful! I live in a small apartment in downtown Indianapolis with a very active dog. If he doesn't get physical activity, he becomes depressed and doesn't even eat. When I first got Ralphie, I could invest the time he needed to be socialized with people and other dogs at the dog park and elsewhere. He's even lived in New York City on the UWS and is used to loud noises and lots of people. When I got a new job that took me away from my apartment for 10 hours + hours each day, I knew he would be miserable in the apartment all by himself. Indy Hound is walking distance from me. Their hours are great, their staff is friendly, and their prices are reasonable. Just to highlight a couple of enormously outstanding things they've done for me, they've boarded Ralphie overnight when unexpected events made it impossible to pick him up. On one occasion they agreed to board Ralphie for a whole month when I was taken out of town at the last minute unexpectedly. With less than 24 hours notice, they were a lifesaver and I wouldn't trust Ralphie with anyone else. Their flexibility is remarkable. Finally, I bought a one month package for Ralphie this past month, but due to an injury, the vet said to keep him home and resting for 2 weeks. By the time he was healed, I brought him in for his last day of his package. The staff asked ME about Ralphie's injury and about the possibility of discussing an extension of the package after speaking with the owner. I sort of figured that Ralphie's injury was tough luck, but they went ahead and extended his package! They did NOT need to do this, and I was blown away by the generosity. Alex and his staff are great. My dog wouldn't have the temperament and constant activity but for Indy Hound. They're friendly, flexible, and reliable. Thanks guys. I really wanted to like this place but the staff is inconsistent and increasingly rude. The first few visits, staff was super nice and recently others had terrible attitudes. For something that is a commodity, staff matters. The first time, I was scolded during pick-up for bringing my dog too late. Even after I called ahead and asked if it was okay and given the go ahead. Felt like the whipping post for his (the manager's) bad day. Cool, can let that slide once. After all I bought a 10 pack that was nearly finished. Separate incident. My husband was chastised for not bringing a leash, our dog is small and he carried her in. We are reasonable people and would have been happy to bring a leash for safety reasons, but the attitude of the "manager" was over-the-top rude. When you treat humans with an inflexible "rub your nose in the mess" approach, it makes me wonder how my dog is treated when I leave. I wrote the owner requesting outreach and never heard back. I then tried through a mutual friend and still no word. Would have liked to address this directly, but for now we've found a new day care and boarding option for our pup. read more

Our adorable fur baby, Norman, absolutely loves Indy Hound and so do we! He wears himself out playing with all of his friends, the humans and playing in the pool when it's hot outside! The best part is that after a long day with his furry friends, we request a bath which leaves him smelling squeaky clean. I love that the staff at Indy Hound bathe him because it's my least favorite thing (and Norman's also)! Mia was really nervous on our first visit, but now when we go she is extremely excited to play with the other dogs. When you come make sure you bring a leash and food for your dog. I really wanted to like this place, given the proximity to my house downtown. I gave them two opportunities, but I was underwhelmed both times. The first time, they visited for their audition, and, upon pickup, the staff member commented about how overloaded they were with dogs. I don't recall the total number, but it was considerably above what I'd expect at this price point. As a result, the staff member felt like he didn't have a great opportunity to observe my two dogs. Go figure. Nonetheless, I brought them back for a second visit, including an overnight. Upon pickup, i asked if one of the dogs had been fed + given his medicine and I received a pretty non-committal response along the lines of "I'm not sure. I don't think so?" At this price point, I'd expect 100% confidence, and I can think of several places in town that do indeed provide that level of service. I don't like that you can't see where the dogs are, or what the conditions are like, and that they don't have a webcam. The people seemed nice, and the lobby was clean. For full-service daycare + boarding, I expect better though. Hopefully your experience is different. read more

This is such a great place to take our lovely 8 month old Australian Shepherd. He is full of energy and loves to socialize with his fur buddies at Indy Hound. They ensure all dogs are up to date on their vaccinations and the dog is spade/neutered. This to me ensures a safe and peaceful environment for all the dogs. The place is home away from home for our furbaby. It is such a clean and welcoming place. The staff are beyond enthusiastic and caring. They have many care options for your dog; i.e., bath, teeth cleaning, nails clipped, ferminator, and more. The bath we recently requested made our dog smell so very good for several days now, and hopefully longer. Alex, the owner, is beyond passionate about the care and love for the dogs. I take my high-energy Australian Shepherd + Poodle mix here and after a full day of daycare he is worn out from playing all day and being loved on by their team. I'm so appreciative of all the care they provide all the dogs, especially their attention towards ensuring any dogs at daycare are up-to-date on all vaccines. Besides the fact that my pup loves this place, another bonus you have is the option to get your dog groomed while at daycare. The option to pick up a fresh dog with their nails trimmed has been a life save on multiple occasions! It makes a daycare package totally worth it! I have been taking my dog Mack to Indy Hound since she was a pup. It's hard to find a doggy day care that makes you feel as comfortable leaving your pup as Indy Hound does. Mack loves going and always comes home worn out, so I know she's been running and playing all day. I've also boarded her at Indy Hound. I'm glad to have found a place where I can leave my dog and know she will be taken care of and shown lots of love. On top of the great service they provide, Indy Hound has the best staff. Indy Hound is fantastic, I could tell that my Mozzarella immediately loved it there. We went in for the assessment (I love that they make sure each dog is friendly) and I couldn't bare to not let my baby stay since he was having so much fun. This daycare is all day play which means they aren't kenneled unless they are getting lunch or need to rest for some reason. Some daycares aren't this way so i'm super glad Mozzarella is able to socialize the entire time. We usually only do a half day because he is tired out after 5-6 hours. The prices are super reasonable, i pay $17 for a half day and occasionally an extra $10 for a nail trim. My dog is only 5 months and likes to roll in the dirtiest spots he can find, the staff is very kind and patient with him and even cleaned him off before pick up last time. Mozzarella looks forward to his one day a week at Indy Hound and has even recognized pups at Metazoa later. My ONLY complaint is that I wish there was a live stream so I could check in. This seems like a really cheap and easy way to make people feel more secure about leaving their babies. read more

Indy Hound is a doggie hay day! It's average on price point --- $25 for a full day of daycare. They offer other services as well at equally fair cost, which is convenient. The place is very clean and well-kept, a fragrant bleachy smell greets you at the door. The staff all seem kind and caring for pets as well. They ask for your shot records, so have them ready! I wouldn't take my pup to a place that didn't check for these things, for sure. One thing is, they let all dogs - male, female, large, small, seniors, puppies - play in the same area, so they require your dog to be spade or neutered by the age of six months. For me, that was too soon, so I was asked not to bring him back until he's fixed. Which I understand! Given that they all play in the same area, your dog doesn't get much downtime so he or she should be VERY exhausted and ready for a snooze when you pick him up. read more

I honestly don't know where to start. My husband and I recently relocated to Indianapolis and needed to find a place to board our two Weimaraner's. I read so many reviews of different boarding facilities and we decided to give Indy.Hound a try. We took them in for their assessments, they passed and we decided to drop them off a few days later to doggy daycare. A few days later we dropped them off to stay for 4 nights, 5 days. You can take their own beds, toys and whatever you feel that may make their stay more comfortable. Our male has arthritis in his hips and is on several medications. The staff assured us it would not be a problem so I placed his meds in little bags and labeled each am and pm. When I picked them up, Alex and his staff were wonderful. Stated our dogs did well, played well and the best part-they slept for several days afterwards! I was quite the worried mom since we had not boarded them anywhere since our move. I'm so glad we decided to go with Indy.Hound and would recommend them to anyone. read more

The interior has a lot of lovely touches, like wood paneling/fencing and well-organized cubbie holes for leashes and things, that makes it feel warmer than other daycare places that feel more like a big warehouse. I'm pretty sure the dogs don't care as long as they have a big space to play and romp, but as the human "pawrent", these little touches make me not feel as bad to have to leave my dog behind when I go out of town. We had my golden retriever stay at Indy Hound while we were away for the Thanksgiving holiday and we ended up calling on the Monday or Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, having poorly planned on our part. Indy Hound was able to accommodate us and coordinate a drop off and pick up time that worked well for us. They had a last minute cancellation and worked with us to call us and confirm our stay. The overnight boarding accommodations are spacious and private. They provide blankets but you are encouraged to bring your dog's own bed and toys. We brought our pup's food and had no problems having him fed on his regular schedule. The price was also quite reasonable at $35/night. We felt super comfortable with having our dog stay at Indy Hound and would highly recommend it for daycare as well as overnight boarding. The only thing I wish they had were expanded hours as we are resident docs with early morning and late evening hours and can't often make it to dropoff/pickup at 7am and 7pm respectively. read more

I don't have a consistent need for daycare for her but I love dropping her off to socialize and play with other dogs so I try to get her there at least once a week. Indy Hound has different packages you can buy to for your needs. The staff, especially the owner, are incredible. They all have nicknames for Sophie and know who she is when she arrives. They get to know all the dogs and care for them and you can tell. I appreciate knowing some dogs have been asked not to return (due to aggression), that makes me more comfortable leaving mine. If your dog needs a bath they do that too and they use a conditioner that leaves them smelling fresh for weeks! They also trim nails, groom and board nights and weekends. I am happy I finally found a dog daycare that is HONEST about my pet's care. I have an older cockapoo who just likes to be involved and sunbathe outside or by the pools. The cute content they put on social media is another plus! I love seeing the other pups and appreciate everything they do for my fur babies! I also take comfort in the fact the owner provides training to the staff over pet first aid, and will not hesitate to contact the owner/vet if a situation arises. My schedule is different week to week, so I appreciate that you don't have to make a reservation in advance. Also, I love how they organize your dog's belongings by the time you checked in to make sure everyone gets the right equipment back at pick up! Also, their pricing is very fair, even a bit below their competition in the area. They post pictures all day long on Instagram so you can see how your pup is doing!
