I have no problem re-racking the weights, but I do find it a bit ridiculous and silly that we clean the equipment with diluted windex and the nastiest stained rough & hard hand towels (who knows how often they're washed). The biggest let down however, is the cardio equipment; a few bikes and ellipticals, but of the 4 treadmills 2 are broken and there is no stair master. It is expensive at $30 a month for what you're getting but the convenience of not having to leave Springs is what keeps me. This definitely ain't Anatomy, Equinox, or any other pristine gym with hot trainers like in Brickell South Beach and the Gables. This is Miami Springs with older retired folks and Hialeah neighbors who frequent as well, since it's right next to the bridge.

Massive in sheer size, this building is compromised of three floors of space and equipment that will surely satisfy your workout needs. Starting with the first floor, there are endless squat racks, benches, free weights, and machines for those specifically looking to target a certain muscle group to build muscle. Walking up the stairs (because if you are using the elevator then what was the point of going to the gym), the second floor is what every cardio lover imagines paradise to be. With 4 - 6 Stair Masters, row machines, ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, etc. one can't possibly leave this floor without breaking a sweat. Lastly, the third and final floor is a track. One can run or jog around the base of the gym without having to deal with the many risks associated with running outside. Along with the track there is a small area where those seeking to shape their abdominal muscles can do so using the equipment provided. All in all the gym is great but there are a few things to consider prior to signing up. The first are the hours, it's very hard to find the accurate hours for the facility as their website doesn't reflect any last minute changes made to their times. Moreover, the hours are shorten when class isn't in session from 12am to 9pm, so if you're getting out of work you'll approximately have an hour or so to work out after factoring out the time stuck in traffic. Still that hour or so could be even less if the gym is packed or people are just not efficiently making use of their time resulting in you wasting yours. The second the fact is that FIU has over 55,000 students enrolled, which all have gym membership included in their tuition fees. Thus, good luck working out when class is in session especially during the fall terms. Overall, it's a decent gym, just have a flexible schedule to avoid peak times to really make use of all their equipment and more importantly get a good workout in.

If you want a workout that is going to leave you crawling back to your car, Da Factory Crossfit is not for you. I have done other crossfits and have walked out of their place physically exhausted that I was not able to raise my arms; Da Factory never left me with that feeling. If you YouTube Da Factory Crossfit you will see some of the routines crossfit gyms use. Sadly, most of the workouts Da Factory shows you are not done by their regular crossfit members; these workouts, which are separate from your regular crossfit membership, are for their team performance members. The majority of the time spent at Da Factory is talking. The rest, is spent doing a warm-up routine and brushing up on a skill with a PVC pipe. Da Factory insists on familiarizing different skills each day. I understand this is useful in order to prevent injuries when performing each workout, but it is not necessary when it is not even part of the workout for the day. You do not expect to be holding a PVC pipe for 15 mins when you are paying $125 a month to workout. If they want to teach us how to do a proper lift they should do so before the routine. After all the skill talk and warm-up, there was less than twenty minutes for the actual workout. One of their workouts lasted only 12 minutes. I would not recommend checking out this facility with a Goupon. As a Groupon member, I was treated differently than the regular paying members. They made me feel like I was trying to milk them for it's worth when I questioned one of the coaches about the terms on the voucher. Groupon members are stripped of their right to register for classes online and only full paying members have priority. Requests for classes were made through a coach and depending on availability, I was notified whether I had been placed in a class or not. Sometimes they forgot to e-mail me to confirm my class registration. I have decided to give Da Factory 2 stars and not 1 because of two of their coaches. They were passionate and genuinely interested in teaching me; they made sure I was working out properly. I think Da Factory has a lot of potential but first they need to treat everyone equally (this goes for giving everyone the same work out and allowing your Groupon members to choose their own classes online). They also have to kick their workouts up a notch and stop boring people to death with the daily skill talk when it is not part the WOD. Have the talk once a week and get back to what crossfit is supposed to be--bringing people to their knees and within inches of throwing up.
