Don't lose heart, parents, this journey requires you to let go and let the teachers do their job. The dynamic of the class varies, but the teachers are consistent. Observe the more advanced classes, the dancers probably grew up and looked just as confused as your 3yo does. But they will get it, and they will be better for having been a cookie joe dancer.

My initial impression was good because they have a lot of good morals and they are actually teaching the little girls good technique. However, after a few months, I started to notice that there was a lot of distraction happening, especially in the little girls class. The instructors focus was to try and convince even younger little girls maybe two years old and younger to try and come in to take the class. The instructors attention to the girls sitting on the floor with their parents Was more than 50% of the class this really distracted my child. I had my in-laws and my husband also take my daughter when I could not and they did not have any nice things to say about the class. They mentioned that expectation was way too strict for little girls And my husband did not like the atmosphere that was set by the owners-- he said that they were not friendly toward him at all as a first time parent parent taking his child. As a dancer, myself with a degree, I also understand that temperature is important in the studio, but in the summer months it was way too hot almost 80°. I don't think this is an appropriate temperature. I don't think they carry themselves in a nurturing and comforting way. We have found the climate to be very militant as opposed to relational. They are diplomatic and do nice things for the community, but not enough to keep us here. We will not return to take class.

Love this card idea bc it lets the kids without prior experience explore different dance styles before committing to a year long class. The teachers have been very nice and every class has been fun. They will challenge you when you tell them that you didn't receive a call back. I showed them a call log of the number of times I call and leave messages and no return calls and the girls who work there will still argue with you as if I am not a paying customer. 4. They don't have any hours of operation so you never know if anyone will ever pick up the phone. 5. Parking is a nightmare 6. They don't take credit cards and if you use it , there is a 3% service fee regardless of what kind of credit card it is. They prefer CASH or check. 6. Instructors seemed ok, if you can deal with the above 7. Owner was pleasant and so was her daughter once I finally got in touch with them. I wish they were present more often to witness the younger staffs lack of customer service skills. 8. They don't offer make up classes like other dance and gymnastics studios. You miss you still pay. 9. They did honor my request for a refund. Sadly my daughter will not attend the dance recital which I have already paid for the costume . Dance Studio has so much potential to be so much better!

The teachers are some of the best in their field. They are active and involved and teach and correct like you truly matter to them. Ms Sherese's ballet class left me with a serious workout and gave me opportunities for improvement along the way. This studio is my first choice for dance ! Try it, you'll agree!

City Dance Studio is awesome! My friend found this studio while searching online and we decided to…read moretake ballet classes here last summer. The highlight of the summer was having the opportunity to learn from and dance with Lauren Anderson! I ended up taking dance at UH for the fall semester, so unfortunately I have not been back to dance here. The owner and founder, Sherese Campbell, taught the ballet class we were in. She's inspiring and really makes you want to dance better. The students are awesome, some of them are City Dance Company dancers and they are just as inspiring. Our summer intensive class ranged from teenagers to adults in their 30's-40's. The summer intensive classes are cool because you do (for example) ballet one week and hip-hop another week (for the first 1.5 hours) and then like yoga or tap for the second 1.5 hours. Intensive classes are usually from 9 AM - 3 PM, but I only went from 9 AM - noon and it was $150/week vs. $250/week. Currently don't have time/money to take intensive classes again, but would love to go back soon. It's pretty convenient if you live near Rice/ West U. If you are unsure about anything or have reservations, Sherese is always willing to help and encourage you!

Have you ever had a favorite restaurant and one day you go back only to realize the owners changed,…read morethe chef changed, and while the sign on the door is the same, the quality and integrity you associated with that name is bastardized? My heart is broken over this. Fret not. The old owner and chef has a new school - DAA Dance Academy. Send your kids there to learn from instructors who has a passion for dance and teaching. ===================================================== My review of the original Mitsi Dancing School: LOVE LOVE LOVE...Love the school. Love the teachers. Love all the memories I shared here. I'll fully disclaim my bias - I grew up in this dance school. However, being biased doesn't mean I'm wrong. Mitsi Shen is one amazing woman and dance instructor. She's dedicated decades to passing on her passion and technique in dance (ballet and Chinese dance). She hires very well trained teachers and shows extreme professionalism and patience to groom each student that has a heart to learn. It was like a family there. I made life long friends in my 13 years at the dance school and went from being a fidgeting tomboy to loving the art of dance. To the moms concerned with repetition, I'd say that dance training (similar to other trainings) involves a lot of repetition. Your princess might be doing chases and plies until she's 5 (and thereafter I'm sure). But she will improve each year and eventually she'll have strong muscles from the repetitions and move on to leaps and turns. Ballet is a great foundation for other styles! You can't go wrong sending your kids here! ...And it is my humble opinion that all little girls should dance! =D
