I purchased a hi-end Fender guitar online from Ingram`s of Merced. Carlos was extremely friendly and helpful. The guitar arrived with a cracked toggle knob and the certificate of authenticity had a reversed dyslexic serial number ,one number reversed than on the guitar. This was a factory issue,but they took care of it. Not a big deal to me, but to collectors at re-sale it is a deal breaker. I didn`t want to be a p.i.t.a. but had to call about the issues and Carlos was very accommodating and attentive to the issues. They even called me back asking what my preferences in strings and setup were equipping it with my requested Elixir 9`s and set up perfectly. Not having much knowledge of guitars they're very helpful in explaining a different types of strings and the guitars they were used for. Went in looking to get some drumsticks and guitar strings. They were very short with me. They didn't have 2b sticks in stock. Tried to pass off other sticks as 2b's. They also didnt have the guitar strings I wanted in stock. Never once did they offer to order anything for me either. I have always gone to smaller shops, this one unfortunately tries to run like a big box store without the inventory or customer service to back it up read more

My review may be off putting to some but I had a very bad experience here recently while trying to rent an instrument for my child. As soon as I came in, the staff was very hesitant to help. I told one of the employees that I had already spoken to someone over the phone and knew exactly what I wanted. He went ahead and told me why my choice was a bad idea anyway. I was trying to save both of us time as I had my kids with me and the staff kept reminding us that " those drums cost $350" . Anyway, the guy wanted my drivers license, debit card and social security card. I gave it to him, then he asked for my home adress, but that wasn't enough! He wanted to know what my profession is, where I worked and the telephone number, for a $200 clarinet!!!??? I'm not buying a house!! When I told him I valued my privacy and would rather not, he said I had to! I promptly left and will never return. read more

I do not believe in hateful scathing reviews and I so want to be polite when writing about any business, here it goes. We have been customers of Ingram's music for years; all three of our kids took music lessons there, we have purchased instruments and when David worked there, it was a regular stop for us when visiting downtown. As of late however, the service has drastically declined. We stopped in last Saturday to get our sons guitar strings replaced and to look for other items he needed, additionally, I was in the market to purchase a guitar and get some information on lessons. The two guys working behind the counter, were unfriendly to begin with and as we were looking around, didn't offer once to help us, didn't ask if there was anything else that we were looking for etc. Our son, who is a teenager and a musician picked up a guitar and bumped another and one of the guys told him in a very snarky tone to be careful....my husband assured the guy that he was being careful and reminded him that he has commented like that to him every time we go in. To start off, the guitars were very close together, even I had a hard time not touching the others when putting it back but the bigger point is that if the guy had bothered to come out from behind the counter, that situation could have been avoided altogether. It seemed that they guy had issues with younger kids as a whole. If they hadn't already begun the work on our sons guitar, we would have left. It was such an uncomfortable visit. What saddens me the most is that this used to be where our kids came to see all the different instruments and get excited about music, now we just feel like we're hassling the workers to help us out. Unfortunately, we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Horrible annoying salesman. I was told I could only play the guitar for 5 minutes then I was told to put it back or buy it. Absolutely ridiculous, he doesn't even play guitar himself and has the audacity to act like this $1700 guitar is the most valuable thing on the planet. The inventory is not even that great either. Save your time and go somewhere else where someone actually cares about proper customer service. read more

I have never submitted a Yelp review before, but joined just to review this business. After saving his money for several months waiting for a particular guitar to become available, my15 y.o. son found the guitar he was looking for and we purchased it through Reverb from Ingrams Music. Sadly, the sound is horrible. From the beginning there was a very bad string buzz and problems with the humbuckers and an ill fitting bridge. Anyone who had ever played this guitar would have known this immediately - although if the previous review is correct and the salesman doesn't play, that would explain a lot. We did not report to Reverb in time to have them intervene. Originally thought the problem was an easy fix, but after 3 weeks and another $150 having it worked on in our local shop we found that there is little anyone can do. The problem seems to be a construction issue that would have been there from the start. Either way, this business sold a child a defective guitar and has done nothing to try to rectify the situation other than to say "maybe it happened during shipping". read more
