Bobby Sunshine convinced me to go in a different direction with my tattoo, stripped my meaning from…read morethe design, and gave me a different tattoo than what we discussed, and even added colors I told him in the consult I did not want him to. I liked the outline, though it was different than what I was intending. However, when he colored it he did not add any of the detail he said would be there if we made it bigger. He styled it very differently than what I discussed with him. I was I ncredibly sheepish about the whole thing, and I do feel as though he took advantage of my lack of confidence being that I had a clear idea, which I don't think he liked, and there isn't even a hint of that idea in the tattoo at all. The fact of this is that my ideas were left out. The emotion that follows on my side is that he put a tattoo on my body that only represents him, and is foreign to me.I literally spent weeks crying over this and the past year dissociating from it because it is not what I would have ever chosen. He did tell me though that he thinks it looks finished and looks great... Ultimately I do not hate everything about this tattoo, but it very much is not mine. I would like to think there was an honest miscommunication, but looking at the time we spent discussing everything I can't see where this went wrong. I just would not trust this man again and will be very careful in choosing someone to restyle it in a few years.

I had two artists refuse to even do it because of the location. Bere' was fabulous. I walked in for a consult and her first words to me, after hello, were, "I love doing flowers." Today I walked out with a beautiful sternum tattoo of a colorful orchid stem with a hummingbird feeding off of it. I will post a photo after it heals, but I couldn't be happier with her artistic skill, her skills with needle and ink, and her attitude. Everyone at Black Cat was welcoming and receptive. Only…read morecomplaint was that I had to get one repierced twice since the placement was off, so my 4 piercings turned into 6. Not a big deal for me, I have a high pain tolerance and experience with piercings, but it was a bit annoying. it was easy to fix and repierce though since it was just my lobes. They're a little close together, but I also have small lobes and wanted to fit all 3. I used my own jewelry (I had them previously pierced but had to close them due to health issues). I dropped them off the day before so they were clean and ready to use for my appointment. Very professional, clean place. And Shannon was great to chat with during the piercings.

I haven't been there in quite a long time, so maybe they've switched hands since my last visit…read more but this is why I haven't been back: I got a tattoo there when I was like 21 or 22. the work was ok at the time (since then it's gotten a little blurry, and I'm not THAT much older!) but the dude who did it was really nice and gentle and not creepy. I booked an appointment a while later to get something done. I went in at the appointment time, and they couldn't take me because they took a walk-in. I was like "ok, this is why I made an appointment?" I could understand a slight delay but they were telling me it'd be about two hours before I could get worked on. not cool. something like that will (obviously) make me go elsewhere.

The place can get a little busy and hectic, but I'm glad that she was the artist that tattooed me. She has an amazing portfolio. I get the feeling that there isn't much order at the "front desk" area, but all of the artists were making an effort to fit walk-ins. The peircer was really busy the whole time I was there. I am planning on going back soon to finish some more art on my sleeve...and will definitely see Alexis.
