Love them! Clean, covid protocol followed even tho they dont have to, great staff! Ive gotten two tats here the past few months and they are better then expected and i really enjoyed my artist. Prices are fantastic! Email service is prompt! read more

At INK Tattoo Studio, quality, cleanliness and safety are our priority! We are fully licensed and insured, and only use prepackaged and sterilized single-use equipment. Our tattoo artists, Mark Weiland (BFA Fine Arts) and Karl Williams, are also accomplished fine artists; their commitment to honing their skills in a variety of mediums including oil paint, acrylics, graphite, and charcoal has translated into success in creating exceptional tattoos that will hold up well over time. They are well-rounded stylistically with experience in realism, American traditional, neo traditional, blackwork and other illustrative styles; both artists are also proficient in old tattoo reworks and cover-ups.

History

Established in 2008.

INK Tattoo Studio is Dubuque's oldest tattoo studio! INK was founded by owner and artist, Mark Weiland, a BFA Fine Arts graduate from Iowa State University. Mark continues to create fine art in a wide variety of mediums in addition to professional tattooing with 13 years of experience. Karl Williams, a local self-taught fine artist and fellow accomplished tattoo artist, joined INK in 2016, adding to our success in creating quality custom tattoos on satisfied clients.

I understand seeing parts of the old tattoo, but i see the WHOLE outline and i was NEVER told i would be able to see it to that extent. Furthermore i went to other shops and explained my issue, they said that this is not a good cover up either so i'm at a loss after spending over $1,600 not including tips. Nearly 2 grand all together, almost looks like a blast over, I looked at the artists work beforehand and really enjoyed it. I spoke with the shop and they said all they could do at this point was removal and it would be 6k+ to get it to the point of another cover up. I bought my first house so i'm stuck with this and i hate it. . The artist should've told me the cover up wasn't possible with this design. Rant over.

The guy kept taking it off and starting over then did a completely different design with a thick V-style French that I never asked for. Nails were very messy with A LOT of excess white polish on my nails. There was a lady standing over his shoulder the entire time watching him make a mess until I told her to stop watching and help him because he clearly doesn't know what he's doing! 3 coats of white on a French? I wanted to cut my hair a bit shorter, and Ashley took her time to not cut off too much at once and made sure I was still happy with the length. After a couple trims all around, I took almost 4 inches off. I'm so happy with how much lighter my hair feels, and the cut and layering looks great! Ashley also took time to put in some nice curls for style, and gave my make-up a touch-up at the end of our appointment. The salon is very clean and is in a great location downtown. I'm interested to go back next time to get a pedicure and manicure as well. Refreshments are offered at the beginning of appointments. The salon uses Davines products for hair care, which are all-natural and smell great. I purchased the Oi All In One Hair Milk that is great for heat protection and blow-drying. Would highly recommend this salon!

Fantastic environment and amazing staff!! Ink tattoo Studios was an amazing experience! Everyone was so kind and the artist Mark was very charismatic and provided clear instructions for care! He provided multiple possible designs for my tattoo and it made the stressful idea of getting another tattoo very easy.
