I don't know if this review was flagged for some reason, so I'm posting it again. It is what it is, I'm afraid... ------------------------------- If I could rate this store 0/5, I would. Please, please, PLEASE, don't waste your hard earned dollars on this douche bag. I went into Inmax Computer Inc. (located at 322 College Street) to purchase an audio card. The guy tried to sell me this dinosaur card--the box looked quite old--and when I finally opened it up, the 'readme' file indicated that the product was from 2000! Nevertheless, it was a cheap purchase, $15.99, so I didn't think too much of it. All I needed, of course, was an audio card that worked. Boy did I ask for too much. When I opened the box, the inputs were actually CORRODING! Unfortunately I only took a closer look at it AFTER I installed it in my PC. Suffice it to say it didn't work. I went back the same day to return it, hoping the guy would remember me, feel badly, and return my cash. I understand there's a "no cash refund" policy, however, I thought since the card was on the brink of a literal meltdown, I was sure I'd get my $16.95 (incl tax) back. "NO, NO, NO! NO REFUND. I GIVE YOU STORE CREDIT!!!" he said. "Even though this is a piece of shit?" I asked. "STORE CREDIT ONLY!!!" he exclaimed. So I went down the road to Modcom Computers & Electronics (298 College Street), a WAY more reputable company that sold me a *brand new* audio card for only $13.99! Boy, do I ever feel ripped off. Please boycott Inmax. The guy has no concept of how to run a business...(and his products could explode at any moment.) ------------------------------ So there ya have it folks, my experience at Inmax; the worse computer store on the College strip. read more

My desktop PC recently crashed and I could not get it to reboot. I took it into Inmax Computers on Eglinton Ave in Toronto and gave it to the owner - Sam W. He charged me $30 to examine the PC and determine the problem. Then he charged me $26.50 to re-install Windows and get the machine working again. I was shocked at how reasonable that price was. I then decided to get some new fast USB 3.x ports installed and he quoted me a price of $32 to install 4 new USB 3.x ports. I can't imagine any other place that would be so reasonable. He fixed the PC on the same day I brought it in and I can't imagine any other place that would do that. I have owned and used Windows PCs since they first came out. I have taken them to big box stores for repairs and I have found people who advertised in Craigslist and Kijiji who would come to my home and provide service there. I did speak with several of those people about my recent problem and had two of them come to my home. I want to warn you all to be very careful of the people who advertise their service that way. They both told me one thing on the phone. But when they came to my home they tried to tell me I needed to install a new version of Windows. One told me he would do that for $100 and the other one told me he would sell me a new version of Windows 10 for $200. I recognized them both as less than honest and I urge you all to be careful of these shysters. Sam is a real treasure. read more

I agree with Pete. I don't know if it's the same guy, but the guy I was dealing with was a total pr*ck. I took in my computer that wasn't working and I needed it working for a paper that I had to write. He told me that it would be fixed in 2 days. Since I had a week to write the paper I figured no problem. 2 days went by and it still wasn't fixed. Then 3 days, 4 days, 5 DAYS, 6 DAYS!!! I had to get an extension on my paper and in the end, you'll never believe it, HE DIDN'T EVEN FIX IT! I think he screwed it up even more. And even more of an insult...........he still wanted me to pay half the money for the time he put into it! His time for WHAT? I can't believe people like this stay in business. read more

Sam provides his customers with quality work, at very affordable prices. Sam listens to what you want, and he does not try to get you to buy more expensive things, instead he provides you with what you need. inMax has the most generous Parts & Labour warrantee I have ever found anywhere. Oh GOD. I had an incident a few days ago with what seems to be the same "guy" LOL. The place: Inmax Computer Inc. in Toronto on College Street. I purchased a FireWire 4 pin cord, didn't work, returned it not even an hour later and he wouldn't take it back. I asked if he could give me the manufacturer's phone number and he was reluctant at first, but then gave it to me. It was kinda creepy how he wouldn't help the next customer until I left. Totally unsatisfying customer service. I would not recommend going here. There are PLENTY of more reputable computer stores on that stretch of College, (i.e. Canada Computer or Jumbo Computer.) read more

The best computer store of College/Spadina. Period! I've been frequenting College/Spadina for close to ten years now. I found that every store has their strengths/weaknesses. Inmax is really the best store for prices, service and deals. What I love about this place is that I don't feel 'rushed' like the other places sometimes do. The staff in particular always goes out of their way to help. It's a great neighbourhood to visit, I still make it a habit to visit all the other stores...but Inmax really is the best of the bunch. read more

I just returned from inMax Computer, where I had walked in off the street with a phone/camera/storage problem that none of the several big name electronics sales-and-repair companies I visited had found any solution to. I was greeted warmly, and my problem was tackled immediately. The gentleman came up with a free, practical solution which I could carry out at home. He could as easily have done it for me and charged me for the service, but instead he refused to take any compensation for his time and for solving my problem. read more
