So you have a regular door. Then outside is the secondary gate for a secure Child / Dog Gate that can be locked in position so you can enjoy the weather and not loose loved ones. (Although I didn't understand the Handicap Ramp on the 2nd. floor when there is no elevator. I guess if you could carry the person upstairs.....) Anywho. Big Bay Windows for some sweet ocean views. comes with its own pair of Binoculars too. Cool. From our second floor room, there is only the small parking lot then a small hill and then it's all beach. We're literally a stones throw from the beach. With Beach Access right in front of us. Our Condo is a 2 Bedroom with a hideabed in the living room. Total 6 person condo. It would be a little crowded with 6 Adults in here but at the beach.... I only see 6 people being in this condo at the same time because its dinner time. No body stays in the house at the beach. I personally can't keep my toes out of the sand. Now if we could just get some sunshine.....

The linen for the hyda bed was thrown into the cabinet and not folded. Your dishes were not clean as well. One of your plates had shards of glass on it. Again...not GOOD! I asked what time checkout was and they said 11am but failed to tell me that there was a late fee starting at 11:15 AM and they charged per 15 minutes after 11:15. They left a lock box for us and although the weather was very rainy and stormy, and there is no elevator to get up to the rooms, we got in with no issues. But, when we opened our balcony door we saw a shipwrecked boat on the beach in front of our room and the people staying above us were up every hour on the hour and then at 5 am started dragging suitcases across the floor- and you can hear everything through the ceiling. And construction crews got there at 6:30 am to remove the mast from the ship. We got maybe two hours of sleep. They office told me the people above us had a family emergency but regardless, a late fee was charged as we were still moving our suitcases from the room on the second floor, down the stairs at 11:30 until 11:40 when I went to the office after someone came to tell my husband at the car we were going to be charged a fee. I asked if they could make an exception to the rule due to the circumstances but they refused and were immediately on the defense the minute I walked in the office door. I tried to get Expedia to refund us and the hotel refused. I travel for work often and I've never been charged a late checkout fee, especially since we didn't get any sleep, let alone one per 15 minutes and the majority of that was my husband trying to get all of our stuff downstairs because there's no elevator. Do not recommend. Do not stay here.

And the walk down to the water is mere minutes. The room itself.... The beds were passable. Not luxurious by any means and at nearly 50 I'm not sure my back and joints could take more than a couple days. The kitchenette, bathroom, everything... fine. No great shakes, but clean enough. Staff seemed friendly and were helpful in advance with questions. Moved us to a ground floor room when I informed them we needed wheelchair accessibility (which the booking software allowed you to select for that, but alas...) Lovely lovely little town. The walls were fine but oh my the ceiling had no soundproofing. We could hear every word and every step if the windows were closed (if they were open open we heard nothing but the waves.) I guess it just depends on your priorities. Us, we'll be back for that view.

We love, love, love Rockaway Beach, Oregon…read more No, it's not because of Pronto Pup. We'll, for me, Pronto Pup is more of an obsession than a cool place. It's borderline addi..... you know what! "Don't worry about me." I digress. We like Silver Sands Motel. For one, we can afford it. 2. The view. Good golly He does good work. It's nice to be able to walk to the ocean from your room. It's the main draw for us. We've ironically gotten the same room both times we stayed here. If you get a bottom room, bring a window lock of your own so you can sleep with the window cracked open. Nothing like ocean sounds to help you sleep like a baby. Maybe some day we'll stay on the second floor. I hear the view is even better but no balcony to sit on. The rooms could use a little update but that would also mean an increase in consumer costs. I never go anywhere because of the hotel room. It's always about what's outside of this place. Silver Sands is still nice. It's not shabby by any measue. Besides, all the cool stuff in Rockaway Beach isn't in your hotel room, no matter how much you paid.

Normally, I've stayed at the bottom floor rooms. Those are the one most recently repaired after the flood. This last August I had made reservations ( in April) to stay in a bottom-floor room. I got there and was sent upstairs. I was there for work and had a lot of gear. I told them I thought I'd gotten a bottom level room and was informed I needed to make reservations sooner. It should be noted The room I'd been told I'd get when I made reservations, 118, was vacant for three days after I'd checked into 218! The chairs in 218 looked like someone sat in each of them with a terrible incontinence issue and "leaked" all over each chair ( photographed by me). I found paper debris and hair clips in the bathroom in addition to a terribly stained and unclean toilet ( I dunno; maybe the stains were permanent). The pillows were torn open, like someone hid things in them and they were never mended. The cover sheet and pillow cases were dirty. This is not a room to walk around in with barefeet! Local financial people told me the owners have finally paid off the motel, won't put a dime back into it , and are waiting for FEMA or some such entity to buy it from them because of the flood risk. I'll never go back but will miss the poor, nice , folks that run it.

There was garbage from the previous guests under the couch and the carpet was wet around the couch. The bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned at all before we arrived. There was sand and hair all over the floor and around the toilet. The shower had gross scum on the little shelf plus the bath mat smelt awful like mildew, it had not been washed before we checked in.The bedroom I was in still had someone else's hair and make up on the pillow case and there was dog hair on the bed and all over the place. I have not seen an air bnb be this gross before I do not think they cleaned at all before us. I would not recommend staying here. The only redeeming quality is how close it is to the beach.
