Close to the beach (but right on the highway) is really the only positive thing I have to say about this place. It was filthy (long hairs on bathroom floors, dust everywhere and visibly on furniture). My husband tried to surprise me with a night away with a friend at Rockaway Beach. Based on the pics in the advertisement I would have booked it as well...but it was not as described. Horrible night sleep as well with both bedroom windows right next to the highway and a food truck. My friend and I tried to just laugh about it and enjoy the night regardless, but will never stay here again. Had potential, but literally looked like they tried to buy a few new decorations to cover the fact that this place needs some major TLC before it's ready to have guests again. read more

Your unit was filthy and uncomfortable. If we had read the reviews before booking we would have never stayed here. Your floors were completely disgusting with dirt in every room. We had to wear socks the whole time in order to keep our feet clean. You need a new broom. Your broom did not help with the dirt. All it did was smear it around and made it worse. The sheets were not clean. They did not smell clean nor looked clean. All of your pillow cases were turned inside out and put back on the pillows. Not good. The linen for the hyda bed was thrown into the cabinet and not folded. Your dishes were not clean as well. One of your plates had shards of glass on it. Again...not GOOD! PLEASE PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET NEW HOUSEKEEPING!!! We witnessed her come in for other rooms and not do a dang thing but tinker around and vape. This motel is not only affordable but the perfect size for for a family of four. It has a full kitchen and bathroom, the beds were comfortable and walking distance to the beach. My brother and I arrived at the motel soaking wet on our bicycles in the middle of our Vancouver, Canada to TJ, Mexico - Pacific Coast Bike tour. Maureen and her husband own the Sea Haven Motel and are both extremely nice and considerate. We rented a room complete with: washing machine, tv, microwave, free snacks, free tea and coffee, free DVD rentals, towels and so much more. We also used the computer in the hostel house and cooked hot dogs on the outdoor gas grill. Rockaway was a nice place to relax. Small simple town complete with basic stores and beautiful coastline. No, it's not on the beach,and it's not super luxurious, but it's across the highway and an easy walk.It's clean and quaint, but well appointed. And as others have noted, the prices were way reasonable, especially if you stay multiple nights. Our room was the Sea Star. It was perfect for me, my mom, and my kiddo.. and when my husband managed to get free from work and show up it was still fine. There were two beds, a couch, a little kitchenette, a small bathroom. I loved how nice the proprietors were to us, and my kid loved being able to borrow movies from the office. ( they had a nice selection). I don't want other people to know about it either, but then again, I want them to stay in business! read more

We originally planned on staying in Cannon Beach, but for less than 1/2 the price and better amenities we chose the Sea Haven instead. The room is small (unit 3) but the queen bed was comfortable and the full kitchen was a big plus. Close to the beach, convenient location, and friendly staff. We liked that the kitchen was fully equipped and the perks of having, snacks, popcorn, water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc. available. The room was clean. First time visit. Celebrating the New Year with friends. The guest house is clean, has an upstairs, full kitchen, two bathrooms, and good showers/water pressure. Also TV's in most if not all rooms. We found the host to be friendly, helpful, & efficient. Four stars due to the off-beach location (easily within walking distance), and no bed side-tables. I hate to tell people about this place because as it spreads by word of mouth it'll be constantly sold out. This may be the best hotel on the pacific northwest coast. It has six rooms, and each one is custom done--it's owned by a family and they lavish attention on it. Each room is clean and well maintained with its own name, theme, and furniture--and comes with a full kitchen and bath. It is lavish and opulent in all the right ways, with literally all the comforts of home, and extremely cheap with weekly rates in winter, which is an incredible time to experience the rugged grandeur and beauty of where the forrested mountains plunge to the sea in the Pacific Northwest. The price is excellent, the location lets you explore north to Long Beach and south to Coos Bay if you're adventureous, and it's only straight over the Six from Portland. A perfect find, and where else can you spend ninety minutes blabbing with the owner about the nuclear power industry when he's out mowing the lawn, anyhow? read more

This is a small motel, rooms include a kitchen, living room space, TV, and the best inn keepers around. The owners are so sweet, thoughtful, and knowledgeable....reason alone to stay here. You're about a 40 min drive from Astoria. 29-30 min drive from Cannon Beach, 20mins drive from Tillamook, and one block away from the beach. It's a prime location and prime price. You are also one conversation a way from getting ideas on what to do on your getaway. My husband and I recently stayed here for a night and were pleased with our accommodations. The price was very reasonable (even for one night and at the last minute), and it's right off Hwy 101. The place was very clean, and I liked that there was an actual kitchen with full refrigerator, oven & stove top, and microwave. I noticed that there were lots of dishes, silverware, pots, pans, gadgets, and other kitchen necessities provided, which is awesome if you're planning on saving money by preparing your own meals while you stay there. Too bad we didn't stay long enough to really use the kitchen (aside from the fridge)! Wi-fi is available, and there were also two televisions (one in the living area and one in the bedroom), each with Netflix, as well as DVD players. When I was in the office, I noticed there is quite a DVD library available, so that's a nice amenity. The bathroom was small, but like the rest of the place, it was very clean. There were plenty of towels and toilet paper, plus soaps, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. Our unit had a bathtub with a shower head, but I don't think all units have tubs. So the big question would likely be, why four stars and not five? The only reason I docked one star is because the bedroom was more like a closet. There was a creaky but comfortable queen-size bed that took up almost all of the "bedroom". Whoever sleeps by the wall should be the one who is least likely to get up in the middle of the night or early in the morning because you'll have to climb over your partner to get out of bed. Also, there are no nightstands, but there are corner shelves above the bed, including one with a large alarm clock. There's not really a convenient place to put your belongings, as there is one tiny closet off the kitchen (where the extra linens and pillows are stored), and the other storage space appears to be in the ceiling above the bedroom and bathroom. We ended up keeping our stuff on the futon in the living area. We stayed in unit 6, which is the one furthest from the road; I think the benefit of that is that although you can still hear cars coming up and down 101, I imagine it's not as bad in that unit as in the others. Regardless, at night, it's incredibly quiet. It was actually too quiet for me. We even had the ceiling fan on, but it didn't really make any noise; I'm used to sleeping with noisy fans going, I guess. In short, it was a nice little place for a nice little stay. However, any more than two people in that unit might have made it quite cramped (even though the presence of a futon suggests that the unit could accommodate an extra couple of guests...somehow). Nonetheless, I would recommend Sea Haven and would stay there again but with only my husband in tow. read more

When you arrive to the Oregon Coast during a wicked storm and nursing a knee injury there is little else to do but stay in, watch movies, and eat copious amounts of junk food with your friends. Thankfully, the Sea Foam room at the Sea Haven Motel was the an awesome place to wander around in your pajamas all day. When we arrived the first thing I noticed was that the exterior was quite clean, a sharp contrast to most of the other buildings in Rockaway. The interior was equally clean and super cozy. There is a full kitchen stocked with tableware, and we actually cooked most of our meals there! The bathroom is small but clean and stocked with many, many towels. In the living area there is one bed and a futon, the rest of the space is taken up by the most gigantic flat screen TV I've ever seen- perfect for movie nights and 6-hour History Channel marathons (don't judge until you've seen Chasing Mummies!) There is also a bedroom with one bed and a little TV for when you want to amp up your laziness and channel surf in between naps. The beds were big and fit two people comfortably; the sheets were freshly laundered and I fell soundly asleep every night. The owner was a friendly woman who greeted us when we arrived and was cleaning our room before we even pulled out of the driveway. She was kind enough to give us a discounted rate because of the weather and was willing to help with anything we needed. Technically a total of six people can stay here, but I don't think I could recommend the futon for sleeping. Also, the place was quite cozy with four girls in it, any more would have been uncomfortable. For four people we paid about $55 each for two nights. Overall our experience at the Sea Haven Motel was very enjoyable. The best part about it is that it is literally a minute walk from the beach, which we did manage to visit everday in spite of the rain. P.S.-- You can borrow movies for free from the lobby! My sister and I were looking for a place to stay somewhere along the coast for when my dad is in town. Between us, we have three dogs and it's tough to find dog-friendly accommodation that isn't ridiculously expensive. The Sea Haven Motel, on the other hand, must be the best deal on the Oregon coast. This was my first visit and I will definitely be back! First, the price is great! If you stay more than one night, the owner (who is super friendly) gives you a discounted rate. Second, it's incredibly clean and cute inside. Ours, the Sea Foam, #4 has a very well-stocked kitchen with a full-sized fridge with ice cubes and water in the door, oven, dishwasher, and microwave (all seem new and better than mine at home...). The kitchen also includes some cooking essentials such as salt, pepper, canola oil, etc but also tea, coffee, microwave popcorn and more! And did I mention the flat screen TV with DVD player? Bring your own dvds or you can borrow from the front office. If you bring your dogs, there's two small grassy areas alongside the motel and the beach is a short walk away. The owners also gave us directions to a nearby dog-friendly beach. Inside the room, dog bowls are provided and on top of the fridge is a cookie jar filled with doggy treats! We had three in our room, which was perfect for the size but because there's bunkbeds, a futon and a bedroom with a double bed you could sleep four although it would be pretty squishy inside. Finally, as if a cute, clean, inexpensive room with a full kitchen weren't enough, the icing on the cake for me was the fact that the owners only charge $7 for dogs (total, not per dog) and that $7 is donated to the Tillamook Animal Shelter. We stayed here a year ago and were amazed. While driving down the coast and not finding anywhere to stay, we jumped at the Hostel sign, stopped the car and turned around. The Hosts were very welcoming. Because we were there in the off season, the hostel part of the Sea Haven only had one other visitor. A huge house for less than the price of a room. Mon ami and I went here for Valentine's Day weekend and were extremely satisfied with this motel. They offer great rates during the winter months. We stayed in the "Sea Sprite" room which had one double bed and a full sized kitchen. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was better equipped than my own kitchen!! Complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks were a nice touch. They also have a huge selection of dvds and Netflix if it is rainy during your stay. They have a bbq grill that we used to cook dinner one night and the host Maureen even supplied us with spices for the meat! The motel is not in the beach front, but it is only a two minute walk to the beach. I definitely recommend this motel due to its amenities, cleanliness, and quietness. read more

This is an amazing find! My husband extended our stay here and enjoyed all the wonderful amenities including a dishwasher, completely appointed kitchen, snacks, water and a great host! Maureen made our stay with our service dog and new puppy so enjoyable and relaxing. There is an area to walk your dogs complete with a bag dispenser. This very charming place is just across the street from beach. The owner is just so helpful, sweet and knowledgeable about things in the area. The room has a stocked small kitchen. There's a BBQ picnic patio area, it's dog friendly, it's clean, there's a tv in the main room and also the bedroom. The bed takes up the space in the bedroom, there's very little walking space. The rooms are small but the charm makes up for it all. WiFi is available. I would not hesitate to stay here. read more

Cute and homey, owner takes great pride in providing her customers with all the extras you could ask for. Had unit #6 which is a end unit. Front porch with built in seating. It has a futon, breakfast bar, full kitchen, coffee pot, dishwasher, and pots and pans. Tea, sugar, coffee, salt, pepper, and a specially made goody basket with chocolate, cheese crackers, beef stick, and granola bars. Local beach information left out along with current tide table. Bed queen was super comfy. Bath has full sized body, shampoo, conditioner and Dr. Teals Epsom salt soak in liquid or granulated formula for a tub soak after walking the beach. Bring some mosquito spray, the motel backs up to wetlands and they are big and biting. They were sneaky and got me sitting on the porch! read more

I stayed at Sea Haven almost two years ago and never left a review. I enjoyed it so much that I felt compelled to finally share my experience! Jeff and Maureen welcomed my girlfriend and I with open arms, going out of their way for us to have a comfortable stay on our way to and from the Vancouver Olympics from California. The drive is beautiful but long, and our stay at Sea Haven was our favorite stop. The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked with the comforts of your home kitchen, not just the standard things. They take pride in the small things like having good towels and adding a personal touch to the decorations. They even gave us a free upgrade when one of the nicer rooms wasn't taken! It was certainly a memorable experience all around. The guest house wasn't completed at the time but we were given a tour of the progress and it was apparent that they put a lot of thought into making it convenient and comfortable. Bike riders and road-trippers going along the coast would be wise to stop in for the hostel or the single rooms. Although we didn't get to spend much time in Rockaway Beach, it seemed like a friendly, relaxing community. I'd love to go back sometime to enjoy some of the nature that Jeff and Maureen explained to us, and of course I'd stay at Sea Haven again! read more

This is a wonderful place! The location is convenient, the beach is right across the street, twin rocks is a short walk down the beach, and you can shoot up to Cannon beach in 30 mins. The room was amazing! Our suite was a home away from home, and our doggy was super happy. There's yummy snacks, coffee, tea, sugar, flavored/non flavored creamer, a regular sized coffee pot, a full kitchen (!), tons of towels, big bottles shampoo, conditioner and body wash, bubble bath items, movies to burrow, TV's in the main room and bedroom, and comfy blankets. The lady was sooo nice! She gave us tons of maps and cool things to do!! This will always be our choice of place to stay when we visit the coast. read more

Stayed here one night with 5 people in the family room during our roadtrip but wish we had stayed longer! We arrived close to 12 am and Maureen was very personable, accomodating and sweet. The room had a bunk bed and futon in the living room and a queen bed in a private room. An entire kitchenette was also included. It felt very homey and we had a good night sleep. Maureen went above and beyond by providing us with maps, magazines and brochures and spent about half an hour providing recommendations on things to do in the area and beyond while on our trek down highway 101 towards SF. Stayed for a single night. The staff was more than accommodating, late check in and late check out were happily provided. The room was super cute and welcoming. The bed set up made for slightly tight quarters (would have opted for a single bed for more room). And the large tv could not swivel to be watched from the "main" bed. We stayed in the 5 bedroom guest house. Two families (4 adults, a teenager, 4 kids between 4-8 and 2 infants) and we were all comfortable. TV's in all bedrooms, huge family dining table and 2 kitchens! Perfect if you have to keep food separate for those with food allergies. Fully stocked kitchens and shower amenities. Found this place online and thought it sounded great especially for the price. Within a few minutes of getting here one of the owners came over to us to greet us and fill us in on great activities. We walked in and were very impressed! We stayed in the Sea Mist room. It is a little small but it worked great for my boyfriend, my 4 year old son and myself. It is very clean! The kitchen was well stocked even with things most hotels wouldn't even consider supplying. They have a gas BBQ available for anyone which we used the first night we were here. On the side of the building there is a decently sized grass area which my son played in for hours! The bathroom had plenty of towels and soaps. There is a great collection of DVDs in the office to rent for FREE! The walk to the beach is only about 5 minutes; easy and convenient. Overall I would highly recommend Sea Haven for future travelers! read more

We were touring down the 101 and found Sea Haven on TripAdvisor. Well, this little place has ruined all other places for us. It's tiny but so well thought out. They've got everything you could possibly need. Full kitchen with all accoutrements including pots and pans and cooking oil. Dish rags, lots of all sorts of towels, a variety of teas, even fresh coffee beans and a grinder to make fresh, real coffee. They've really thought of every single thing. They've even got Netflix. Maureen was super helpful and told us where to find attractions we were interested in, even providing printouts with directions. This is the perfect example of how to do things right. I wish other innkeepers would learn from her because no other place compares. read more

Don't be fooled by the rustic exterior look of the motel. It served travelers for many decades and likely will do so for many more. This place is exactly as it advertises: clean, cute, and a GREAT value. Did I mention pet friendly? But you wouldn't know there were any dogs there because it's so clean :) We were thrilled to find updated and stylish rooms with kitchen suites (a full size new stove!), coffee, and even snacks for us. The television has cable, of course, but there was also a Roku for us to watch Netflix! The location is great, walking distance from great food spots and just across the street from the beach. Our hosts were incredibly friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations for the area. We also got lots of helpful maps.
