This Inn is really not a "Bed & Breakfast" and it is in need of repair and maintenance. The website talks about a breakfast, but it's really just some danish and "whole fruit" like apples. Etc. Fortunately they provided an in room coffee maker and coffee with filters. The room (The Gorge Room) was ok, and had a Murphy bed (as advertised), but it sure felt like a full not a queen size. Very small. Also, again as advertised, the bathroom for this room is down the hall. This wasn't a problem and we expected it (again, as advertised). However, upon getting into the shower, both the diverter handle and water pressure/temp handle came right off! Fortunately, I was able to get both back into the slots internally and take showers, but that should definitely be fixed/replaced. Overall this is a very old property with lots of charming design and decor. Just be aware that this may come with challenges, and older reviews make it sound better than it is. It certainly isn't living up to its older reputation. It is also largely an unstaffed property. I did see a lady working in back and spoke to her briefly, but other than that, no one. read more

This was a cute enough spot, a little bit of a walk from downtown. I booked this room without the breakfast option, as I have dietary restrictions I didn't want to worry about accommodating. I overheard other guests saying that breakfast was no longer provided, even though it is advertised as a b&b. This didn't affect me personally, but I did find that to be misleading. There were signs saying that beer and wine were available if the innkeeper was in, but we were around most of the evening and didn't see any offerings. Additionally, the hot tub was closed. Check-in was relatively easy, the room was as presented. The porch was nice to relax on. Not a bad stay, just feel that it could have been more personalized and up to the description. read more

WARNING: This is no longer a true bed and breakfast. The property has changed ownership, but none of that was made clear when we booked. We chose this place specifically for the B&B experience and all the great reviews about breakfast. On the morning of our arrival, we got a message telling us what time breakfast would be served. Later, after check-in a second message arrived explaining that under the new ownership, breakfast was no longer offered--but there would be "fresh pastries in the lobby." What we actually found? A single danish cut into tiny pieces, a pot of coffee, and a bowl of apples. That's it. Calling that "breakfast" feels like a joke. The hot tub is also closed, even though older reviews still mention it. Again, not disclosed anywhere on the listing. I emailed after our stay--politely--requesting a partial refund since we didn't get what we paid for. No one responded. Not even an acknowledgment. The only good thing I can say is that it's in a quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to some good restaurants. But I absolutely would not stay here again, and I feel misled and ignored. We chose this B&B based on the reviews and the photos. We were traveling to Hood River for our 20th anniversary and wanted a memorable, personalized experience. PROS: Cute house, nice room, easy/free parking, not too far from downtown, easy check-in and access to the house. CONS: Service and staffing. Spouse had paid for a special package - flowers delivered to room with his message on a card, champagne, and a massage. He really wanted to have a lovely surprise waiting for us. He emailed the owner in advance to confirm the order (payment already made) never heard back. After a long day of travel, he expected that we would walk into the room and be greeted with the flowers, card, champagne.... nothing was there. At breakfast the next morning, the owner was there and asked us where we were staying. We asked about the package that was supposed to be a surprise and got "sorry that happened." And then we were told "as much as I'd love to sell you some flowers, that's not going to happen." That was of course very weird because 1) he should've tried to make it right and 2) there's a flower shop within walking distance of the Inn and 3) also we had already paid for the flowers! There was no sense of making things right or caring about us celebrating a special occasion or having ruined a special surprise. That is ultimately what disappointed us about our stay there. We could've stayed at any of the local hotels if we just wanted a cute room. Don't expect the owner to remember a single thing about you - he asked us at every meal what room we were staying in (it's only a few rooms!). He won't know your names or ask if you are celebrating something. Fine - It's not that kind of personalized experience that we *thought* we'd get at a very small B&B. The website shows a lot of food options. We were promptly told "we're not doing the full menu thing" and it's a you-get-what-you-get breakfast and if you don't want that, they will give you a parfait. The food was fine for me, but not for my spouse who ended up just with the parfait every day. They are understaffed and I'm sure that makes everything a challenge. I can sympathize, it just would've been nice to know what that the image on the website is not what you're getting. For this special of an occasion, we would've stayed somewhere else had we known (it was still pretty expensive the weekend we stayed). I know it was hugely disappointing to not have the romantic surprise remembered - I can only imagine how much worse that would have been if it had been someone planning a wedding proposal or something. We lived, but it was a major bummer for my spouse who really wanted to do something thoughtful. There is no housekeeping or turn-down service. We stayed 4 days. Hood River is lovely and charming. We've been here 4 different times. We love the town and we will be back. We are unlikely to stay here again, but hopefully will more staffing, it can return to the level it was with all the other very positive reviews. The Inn is a really cute house and we did enjoy the room. If you are planning a special occasion trip in the near future, I'd think twice on this one due to the lack of attentino to detail. If you're just passing through, I think it would be just fine and you'll probably have a nice stay. read more

The Inn at the Gorge is excellent. We stayed in the Cascade room suite. Plenty of room. Sleeps 4 adults. The morning breakfast was prepared fresh. Well worth it! Hot tub outside. Booking was easy. Room was very clean and we were able to check in early. I would definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed two nights in connection with the Hood River Marathon. This is a great little bed and breakfast. The proprietor and staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. They recommended excursions, cooked our breakfast to order, and lent us guide books. We stayed at the Terrace Room, which opens directly to the back patio. It was clean and well put together. I stayed two nights in the 'Terrace Room' and really enjoyed my stay! Comfortable bed, small fridge in the room, robe to wear, and best of all- jacuzzi bathtub in my private bathroom!! The host, Michael, was kind and accommodating, the breakfast was tasty, and the location was a quick walk to the Main Street in Hood River with tons of places to eat, shop and drink. We stayed two nights at this lovely Bed and Breakfast, and loved our stay. We stayed in the Terrace Room with a king size bed and a wonderful bathroom with a rain showerhead in the shower. The bed was so comfortable, and we had a private patio so we were able to leave the windows open all night! The breakfast for both of our mornings was so delicious. It consisted of a breakfast burrito, toast and fruit and granola yogurt! Soooo good! The staff is so friendly and in these Covid times, we communicated by text, and they were so quick to respond to our questions about the TV, and then to ask us what time we wanted breakfast the next morning! Both my husband and I plan to make this a regular stop for our quick get - awayt o Hood River! read more

We stayed two nights in the Cascade Suite and it was perfect! The bed was ooh lala comfortable and loved having a separate sitting area. We walked from the Inn into downtown, perused the shops and galleries and found some excellent dining at Three Rivers Grill and Sixth Street Bistro. Broder Ost, located in the very cool and historic Hood River Hotel, is an especially excellent and stylish choice for breakfast. Enjoyed meeting the friendly current Inn owner. Hood River is a nice little getaway or home base for windsurfing or hiking in the gorge. read more

What a lovely little gem of a place to spend some time! (I only wish we'd spent more nights - now we'll have to go back!) Hood River is such a cute little place to visit and to get away from Portland - and it's so super convenient. We recently ventured out for a birthday getaway - and had a night booked in the large Terrace Room here at the B&B. The house is lovely, and neighborhood kitties were sleeping on the porch (though the innkeepers do not feed them). Bowl of Jelly Belly jelly beans in the dining room. The house is warm, cozy, and quiet. On our bed were two little hedgehogs waiting to say hello (ceramic, fyi). PLENTY of hot water to fill the big tub, and even shower off after. Great DVD selection upstairs so you can snuggle in the super-comfy bed and watch an old favorite (Indiana Jones trilogy? Yes, please!) Breakfast was a delight - the other guests were fun and we all talked about our rooms and the critters on the beds when we arrived. Our breakfast began with juice, coffee, tea - and then we plunged right in to incredibly amazing baked pears with walnuts. YUM. We had fruit, mini quiches - everything was outstanding. The Inn is nicely located on a quiet street - and we very easily walked into town and visited shops and had a nice dinner out. The house dog will give a bark at you, then stand there and get his pets, then go on his way (my dogs could never live at a B&B - they'd crawl into people's bags and eat dirty socks - I digress). I cannot think of a single thing lacking here. I will be back again for sure! read more

Stayed here in October and it was a picture perfect fall visit. This B&B was beautifully decorated and very well maintained. A fabulous porch to hang out on or have breakfast in the morning. The staff was all very professional and went out of their way to accommodate the guests. The beds and linens were so very soft and comfortable. Lovely soaps in the room and fabulous Hood River coffee. The morning breakfasts were beautifully presented with such a wonderful variety of foods and flavors. They really go all out with the included breakfast! The owner popped in to say hello and offered some great ideas for local hikes. Our experience at this place was everything we could have hoped for in a B&B. Great breakfast and conversation with each of the nice folks who run the Inn, who also have tons of local knowledge. The dog Big'n was certainly a charming host as well. Cozy room with nice amenities at the property. If you want a B&B experience, this is the place. Period correct rooms including claw foot tub & 4 poster bed are very charming. We were greeted by "Big'n" the bloodhound mascot-sweet, lovable guy & the manager. Very knowledgeable about the area. Owner, Michael, made it a point to meet us & answer any ?s. Room was clean. My wife and I chose Inn at the Gorge as one of our first getaways since COVID. We typically stay in hotels but this B&B seemed like a wonderful combination of charm and convenience. Unfortunately, we nearly had to cancel due to some last minute circumstances, but the Inn was able to accommodate our change in plans in a way that allowed us to come and enjoy the property. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful throughout the stay. My wife loved the beautiful yard and hot tub; I loved the old house itself that still had all of the modern conveniences (we really appreciated the kitchen in our room that let us enjoy take-out for lazy days). The Inn is nicely situated so that town itself is a quick walk but far enough away that it is a quiet and peaceful locale. Everyone comments on the wonderful breakfasts and it's definitely the nicest I've had at any B&B and would have been thrilled to order this at a nice restaurant. I really can't recommend this property enough and we look forward to returning. read more

Yeah bed and breakfast. The Bed was everything you could hope for (+ a really nice bathroom) and the Breakfast was amazing.

WARNING--- A new owner has started this up again and is using the previous owners old website with no disclosure. It includes the previous owners names and faces, old photos and completely inaccurate descriptions of the common spaces. The owner does not cook breakfast, there is no dining area or dining table anywhere. We were told that breakfast will be brought up to our room. He goes and gets breakfast burritos in take-out boxes from a cafe, and puts them on a tray with a pot of coffee and paper towels for napkins. The "wrap-around porch" is half full of junk. The "Study" room is full of furniture and junk. The living room has a messy desk, a couch and a tv (his couch and tv). The entry door we were to use has no functioning lock. But the credit card billing system works great. This guy has no clue what he is doing and should be shut down before he rips anyone else off. read more

My wife and I stayed in January 2015 for a weekend getaway from the kids and life in Portland. It was a short drive and a lot of fun as we stopped at an icy Multnomah Falls. We were the only residents for the time we were there which was really nice. We had all the attention from Frank. He answered all our questions and showed us the rest of the house. We stayed in the Terrace Room and it was perfect for us. It was spacious enough and had a separate entrance. Internet access was horrible however in this room but everything else was wonderful. Hood River pretty much shut down after 9:00 so we were left with not much to do. We did eat at the Mesquitery which was absolutely amazing. We'd definitely go back. read more
