    Relaxing, elegant environment.

The food and the accommodations were stellar. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the linens were the finest quality. Every detail was elegant, right down to the soaps. The breakfast was healthy, filling and Linda made every effort to meet everyone's taste and diet requirements. The family style atmosphere and garden were perfect. My husband loved the proximity to the golf course. The nearby wineries and the town are inviting. The whole community was awesome and this is a great place to get away for a while!

We spent two nights here. Joe and Linda were very welcoming. The breakfasts were outstanding! An oasis with a beautiful view of Mt Hood.

The lodge sits on a 72 acre orchard, which also includes some farm lands that houses a couple of Alpaca and a bunch of sheep's. There were the three of us for 4th of July weekend and we booked the Mt. Hood room, and the River room. Both rooms are next to each other and had a patio with a picturesque view of Mount Hood. Both rooms had very comfortable beds, and all the amenities you need. Coffee, WiFi, towel, popcorn, glassware, shower amenities, and the best of all, heated floors in the bathrooms! Price per night rate comes with breakfast, and let me tell you! Breakfast was AMAZING! I actually was looking forward to breakfast every morning. It wasn't just the same skimpy toast, eggs and bacon kind of breakfast, but it was a nutritious and filling breakfast menu that changes every morning! It definitely filled me up until dinner time! Overall I recommend this place if you want a gorgeous, serene, and picturesque getaway! I felt at peace when I returned home. PS: Oscar the farm cat! Very friendly and will greet you every morning!

Sakura Ridge provided a very comfortable stay with everything that we needed to unplug and relax. There were many small details that we appreciated- a beautifully designed and very clean room, comfortable bed and sheets, heated floors, snacks and drinks in the common area (hot cocoa, tea, soda, popcorn), and guidebooks, cookbooks, and maps for guests. The breakfasts were delicious and carefully prepared by Deanna. We had fresh lamb sausage, cherry tomato and goat cheese tart, scrambled eggs with chives, and sorrel salad. The second day, we had a cream cheese omelette, ham wrapped asparagus, and fresh blueberry scone. Deanna also made a berry smoothie both mornings. John was very kind and taught my husband how to feed their lambs on the second morning. We met him at 8am and my husband got to feed 3 lambs at one time! I have to say, it was a unique and fun experience. We stayed in the Orchard Room, which was great. It was built as an addition in 2007, so it has a separate entrance and felt very private. The bathroom was well appointed with a marble walk-in shower and soaking tub. We had a private balcony overlooking the chickens and lambs on the farm, and it offered an AMAZING view of Mt. Hood. One of the best things about Sakura Ridge is that it's situated on a farm with animals (lambs and chickens) and fruits (pears, apples, peaches, plums, and berries) and vegetables. We highly recommend staying here and would love to return in the summer.

The…read morewebsite talks about a breakfast, but it's really just some danish and "whole fruit" like apples. Etc. Fortunately they provided an in room coffee maker and coffee with filters. The room (The Gorge Room) was ok, and had a Murphy bed (as advertised), but it sure felt like a full not a queen size. Very small. Also, again as advertised, the bathroom for this room is down the hall. This wasn't a problem and we expected it (again, as advertised). However, upon getting into the shower, both the diverter handle and water pressure/temp handle came right off! Fortunately, I was able to get both back into the slots internally and take showers, but that should definitely be fixed/replaced. Overall this is a very old property with lots of charming design and decor. Just be aware that this may come with challenges, and older reviews make it sound better than it is. It certainly isn't living up to its older reputation. It is also largely an unstaffed property. I did see a lady working in back and spoke to her briefly, but other than that, no one.

I overheard other guests saying that breakfast was no longer provided, even though it is advertised as a b&b. This didn't affect me personally, but I did find that to be misleading. There were signs saying that beer and wine were available if the innkeeper was in, but we were around most of the evening and didn't see any offerings. Additionally, the hot tub was closed. Check-in was relatively easy, the room was as presented. The porch was nice to relax on. Not a bad stay, just feel that it could have been more personalized and up to the description.

Should you choose to stay with the lovely couple that runs the place, Pete & Annette, you won't regret it as they are truly the most inviting hosts. This is not your Grandma's B&B! They have 3 permanent tents complete with beds in them, one of which is a tree house. That's right a tree house! As a guest you have access to the bath house as well. I had the pleasure of working directly with both Pete and Annette for a friend's wedding. Not only did our hosts do everything they could to transform their working orchard into a gorgeous Wedding Venue, but they were there every step of the way to make sure everything went smoothly for the guests. Need a generator, or a way to park all of your guests amongst the pear trees? Pete's got it covered! Need all the pretty touches from a garden to spruce up the Honey Moon Suite/Tree House or a back-up catering plan when it looks like your caterer is not going to show up? Don't worry, Annette has you covered! The grounds are spread out and do require a bit of walking from the tree house, tent sites, bath house, main house and reception space. But it's absolutely worth it. The Orchard is beautiful, the venue is one of a kind but the hospitality here is incredible! Regardless of if you need a weekend getaway or a venue for a special event, I'd recommend Bella Vista without a moment's hesitation.

The reception area is really sweet and charming- lights were hanging inside of the tent and hay barrel couches with lace sheets surrounded the dance floor. We had a great bonfire and many of our guests opted to camp out in the orchard. Annette and Pete were fabulous hosts- they really made everything come together seamlessly. Annette did a great job with my makeup and her daughter, Tiffany, was an amazing bartender. Annette and Pete took care of many of the prep details and were always available for any questions/concerns I had. Both were fully present and so helpful the entire wedding day and evening. The following morning, campers awoke to snacks and coffee! Bella Vista is a very special place and we feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to get married there! Thanks Annette + Pete!

On the one hand, the grounds are lovely, with some nice views of a waterfall cascading down to the Columbia River. The hotel has nice "bones" and the interior incorporates a lot of Art Deco touches, although we didn't agree with every design choice. There's a cool, old-fashioned hand-operated elevator that needs a staff member to operate. My biggest issue had to do with the cost of the room in late October given that the view of the river was very limited by small-ish windows and trees. Overall, just not worth the $325/night rate. The hotel appears to be a prime destination for weddings, which could be fantastic if the weather cooperates. It is located just west of small Hood River, which appears to lack much in the way of fine dining, but does have a number of boutiques, a great brewpub (Pfriem), and a great coffee/breakfast place (Kickstand). For us, given all of the other waterfalls along the Gorge, I think we would have been just fine with a less expensive, less notable hotel for the night.

Our room was so cozy (and in this case that isn't code for "small": we had a king size bed and the room still felt spacious) with an electric fireplace and comfortable bed with giant pillows. Our bathroom had a giant, beautiful soaking tub which we did take advantage of and even my 6' tall husband found it comfortable. Everything other reviewers have stated is true: it is charming, comfortable and fun. The design and decor all feel thoughtful and natural. Every space is inviting and it seems there is something delightful to see around every corner: a DIY photo booth closet inside the front door with props (!), a make-your-own-trail-mix counter along with coffee/tea/cocoa access 24/7...even just the seating areas inside the front door made me smile. Breakfast was quite the spread & the owner/manager (?) was there with a couple of staff and even took our "order" for what kind of eggs we wanted. They were all so friendly and casual I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. One little thing I never thought I cared about: their towels were SO soft and smelled SO good. I have never experienced anything like it and now I know there is such a thing as an amazing towel experience. Check in was a breeze: there is a parking lot behind the house (1 car per room) & we basically just showed up with a door code & details texted/emailed to us and went straight to our room which was open with keys in the door waiting for us (the exterior access points to the house are all locked/secure so no worries about security). Stay here if you get the chance, it is wonderful.
