Inn on the Beach is a gem! Wow, I can't say enough about how perfect it was. We stayed in the beach house and it was a dream come true. Don't let some old photos of this place fool you, this place is completely renovated and GORGEOUS! And you can't beat this location! Harwichport is the best. We are already planning our next trip back!

This is our third year staying at Inn on the Beach. The owners are so wonderful and accomodating your every need. They are just a text away if you need anything. They greeted us every day and spent time chatting about the Cape and their Inn. We met so many lovely people from all over the US and beyond. The morning Continental Breakfast and the evenings by the firepits made it so easy to make new friends. Each day we looked forward to the great coffee and breakfast items. There was adequate seating indoors and out for just relaxing and enjoying the views of the ocean, sunsets, and waves. They setup chairs and umbrellas on the beach early so everything was ready for us to use. Towels were readily available. The downstairs area provided hot beverages you could make as you desired and we even used the microwave to reheat pizza and sandwiches. The rooms were very clean and spacious and provided a large walk in shower, hair dryer, and plenty of towels. We fit a large number of cold beverages in the mini fridge which was so convenient when you wanted something at the beach area. There was always plenty of ice and easily accessible to us. Parking was close and easy. The Inn is close to downtown Harwich so we took several walks into town to shop, grab pizza, coffees, or just walk the beautiful side streets. There are plenty of great seafood restaurants nearby and we were only 25 minutes from Chatham. Very central to have many things to do. We love this place so much we will definitely return!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days in July. The price was great considering the beachfront property. The customer service was also incredible. We did not go without anything. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly including the owner himself. We loved the location. It is right in the middle of the cape so we weren't far from Hyannis to go to a concert at the Cape Cod Melody tent. The Inn is also located really close to the town which has restaurants bars and shops. You can walk into town it's very close but there's not a sidewalk so we didn't feel safe on the Main Street. The one negative is that the town closes very early . You can't get dinner past eight or nine. Most places closed very early which was disappointing to us. We love the outdoor patio and the fire pit tables. It was also a nice touch to have lawn chairs on the beach dedicated to the guests. The room was extremely small. My husband and I could not walk around each other. One of us had to sit on the bed to get around each other. It's that small! However it doesn't matter because the location was incredible and we didn't care about the room size because we were there for the location. The room was clean and we had everything that we needed. The beach is very calm almost more like a lake with no waves. The weather was still pretty chilly even mid-july. Complimentary breakfast was a nice touch but it was very basic. My husband and I ended up going out to breakfast each morning instead of having the mostly continental breakfast there. But again it doesn't matter it was still worth the price the location was incredible the service was great! The place is absolutely beautiful. You can tell that the owners really care about the end and take excellent care of the property. We would stay here again should we find ourselves visiting the cape.

What a beautiful and quaint inn right on Harwich Beach in Cape Cod. We came here for a wedding and the manager, Stephanie could not have been more accommodating. She welcomed us with open arms and made sure our whole stay was up to our liking. I'm so glad our friends got room blocks for the whole inn and we got to spend the wedding weekend with friends on a beautiful beach. The weather was a bit chilly, but it did not stop us from sitting on the beach. They have complimentary chairs to sit on and a breakfast that is just superb! They rotated between a homemade frittata and a French toast bake. It was walking distance to the main block and not too far of a drive from the other main beaches and towns. I can't wait to come back to visit !

It has a great location steps to the beach (about 250 according to the innkeeper), a pool, a newly obtained liquor license so you can purchase drinks, and a friendly staff. It all made for a pleasant place to stay. The included continental breakfast was very nice - it is limited to 8am to 9:30am. A nice selection of yogurts, cereals, bread items, fruit, hard boiled eggs, juice. Also has one of those press a button, get a pancake machine. A couple of toasters, but they toast slowly. Fresh coffee is available at 7am, and Keurig machine is located in the lobby. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful flowers and greenery out front. The rooms all have chairs so you can sit outside with a pool in the center of property. A good idea for the Commodore would be to install a clothes drying rack in front of the rooms since everyone uses the chairs to hang wet bathing suits, towels, etc.. could make things more convenient and look neater. The rooms were nicely updated. The bathroom in our room (125) was very small, but luckily the sink is outside. The toilet/bathtub area's door barely clears the toilet so it feels a bit small - especially if its more than 2 in a room. The in the wall AC worked well, and the white noise it generates help to block outside noise. There was an issue about drinking your own alcohol you brought in since they now have a liquor license. There was sign in the room that your own alcohol could not be consumed anywhere on the grounds. I never heard of this before, but Massachusetts has strange liquor laws so something you may want to keep in mind. I like they have free to borrow beach chairs and beach carts for bringing stuff to the beach - so no need to pay the $20 parking fee to bring a car to the super close beach. Shuffleboard and cornhole games are on the grounds. Harwich is a nice, family friendly town with some nice places to eat nearby, or a short drive to other parts of the Cape. A good place to stay especially if beach accessibility is your thing!

Sincerely the best of any resort we've stayed at -Genuinely friendly staff -The cleaning crew was phenomenal and didn't miss a spot The not-so-good: -Paper thin walls. We were woken up multiple nights because the upstairs guests were walking around. Yes, plain footsteps - not even stomping - were very audible. For close to 1k a night, this shouldnt have happened. My cheap grad school duplex apartment didn't even have walls this thin! -Friction prevented us from giving the resort more money. There's room service but no menu in the room and it wasn't easily found online either. And we were so ready to drop a good amount of money on poolside drinks and food but nobody waited on us both times we were at the pool. (They did happen to wait on the social media star who was present, which was very obvious, and we made eye contact with another family who shrugged because they hadn't been waited on either.) And finally the coffee shop closed at noon. We would have happily patronized the shop for a treat and a coffee and were disappointed to find it closed so early. -Our perception was that there was nothing going on at the Wequassett. We stayed in June (and received the May newsletter; perhaps that would've given us more info if we had the correct one?) We had expected the poolside bar to be open. Maybe some live music. Smores for the kids by the fire (we would've purchased this.) So many opportunities for improvement! We stayed at the cliff house in Maine last year and there was a number displayed around the resort that you could text and they'd send a message with info about was going on at the hotel that week! Such a memorable touch - Wequasset could consider something like this. All in all, not awful, but not blow-your-socks-off fantastic, either. Just plain average in the realm of resorts.

There's also a huge sparkling pool, an inviting outdoor gazebo, and a cozy fire pit that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the evenings! Our room was beautifully clean and quaintly decorated, complete with a cozy fireplace that made for a perfect evening retreat. The bed was insanely comfortable with high end linens. Additionally, most resorts provide a broom/dustpan to maintain cleanliness-none here! There was a slight sewer smell coming from the bathroom. This was the studio unit, not the townhouse style. We had to bring our own blanket. The location is good, and the room was quiet. During a 48 hour power outage the Resort Maintained power(thankfully), and could not control the noise coming from the generator stemming from the adjacent private property. Our room was spotlessly clean and very nice without being over the top. The beds were comfy and the linens provided were adequate for a good nights sleep. They provide a continental breakfast in the morning that consists of bagels, danishes, cereal and different juices. Unfortunately there was no fresh fruit. Oh and don't worry about leaving Fido at home, they have dog friendly rooms. One slight drawback is that it can be a bit noisy especially early in the morning. This is because the inn is set up more like a motor lodge so parking is directly in front of the room doors. We got woken up before 6:00 by some dude telling his buddy about the "huge fuggin fish" he was gonna catch that day. Perhaps, Handkerchief Shoals Inn is better suited to families that need to be up early to get the kids ready for a day at the beach, but overall our stay here was a good experience. As far as rates are concerned this place is competitive with other Cape Cod hotels and won't drain your bank account. I would consider staying at Handkerchief Shoals Inn for future Cape trips and would recommend them to friends.
