Amazing golf course very hilly and challenging was there for an outing. Also, at the end they made some great cheesesteaks.!!

My sons and I decided to play golf on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 largely because of the very mild weather. We further decided to play golf at a course that was located about halfway between us. We selected Inniscronne golf club in Avondale, PA largely because of tee time availability, round cost, and recent positive GolfNow reviews. It turns out the first two discriminators were accurate. The last was not! Recent GolfNow reviews are positive but brief. Recent Yelp reviews are negative and correct. Inniscrone golf club was once private owned/operated. The course was originally designed by golf course architect Gil Hanse in 1998. Apparently, the course was rated very well by Golfweek back in 2001 as one of the "Top 100 Golf Courses in America". The private club charged up to $50,000 for club membership at that time. Unbelievable! That was a long time ago in golf years and times have certainly changed; not for the better for Inniscrone golf club (see below). Inniscrone golf club is currently owned by London Grove Township and has been operated by the Heathland Hospitality Group; a Food and Beverage consultant; since 2011. Healthland's core business portfolio does not include managing other golf clubs/courses. I can see why this is so. Upon arrival to the course, players have to "fetch" their own golf cart from the cart barn. We had to reselect a cart after finding the first cart had a flat tire. Not starting well. Check-in was quick and easy. We had prior purchased online a GolfNow "hot deal" round of golf. There are 5 levels of play. The overall strokes par for the course is 70 due to two less par 5's. The course is generally quite wide on most holes with just a few narrow and challenging holes. Pace of play was good largely due to the 15 minute separation of tee times. We experienced several significant problems during our round that were either nature's fault or the fault of Inniscrone Maintenance. First, the course was VERY VERY wet due to some rain the day prior. The significantly wet tee boxes, fairways, and greens made for poor play. This course does not drain well compared to other golf courses. Several of the holes are permanently marked "cart path only" due to the poor drainage. Second, we noticed the smell of sewer gas at various locations around the course. We suspect underground sewer piping and sewer vent stations from nearby housing located around the perimeter of the entire course may be the cause for the bad smell. Third; and most importantly; the greens bunkers and greens were in very poor condition. The greens bunkers had not been power raked for some time and were hard pan in places. Many of the greens were littered with tree limbs and leaves debris which should have been removed early in the morning by Maintenance. Even worse were the green's surfaces. The greens were not recently cut and rolled as they should have been by Maintenance. The greens were EXTREMELY soft and spongy. This doesn't just happen after rain; rather due to lack of routinely rolling. As such, putting on the greens was like putting on shag carpeting. Putted ball roll was hoppy, often short, and not true by direction. We frequently three-putted. Absolutely terrible! Many of the course's original bunkers no longer have any sand. Rather, these sand vacated bunkers are now filled in with grass/hard pan mix. Very poor conditions for control chipping onto the green! Cart access to the par 3 Hole #5 green is worrisome and not safe. The asphalt cart path leading down the steep incline to the green is partially covered in wet green moss. Our cart spun nearly 180 degrees around as we slid down the cart path. Fortunately, we were able to halt the sliding cart after a 10 ft. slide. The moss should be removed asap before a serious cart injury occurs. There may have been only three employees in total working during our entire round of play. The check-in person, the snack bar person, and the cart attendant. Labor cost savings were in-place. Lastly, judging the current "dated" condition of the once nicely appointed clubhouse interior and exterior, little money is being spent by London Grove Township on maintenance and beautification of the clubhouse. The large clubhouse is now only utilized to provide bathrooms use and a small snack bar. This is unfortunate and a bit depressing. In summary, we can't recommend Inniscrone golf club at this time. We recommend you play elsewhere for a better round of golf; even if that requires you drive 30 - 60 minutes to another golf course in the PA/DE/NJ area. Don't take the risk playing Inniscrone golf club as you will likely regret your decision. We certainly did. read more

I have never written a review before but this place is worth doing my first. The starter at this course (I will get his name) was absolutely the worst starter I have experienced in 20 years of playing golf. Absolutely unprofessional and inconsiderate. I was ready to tee off for the first hole 10 mins before our tee time and was told by the starter I must be on the tee within 1 minute. I said to send off the next group if there were any issues and no group teed off for 30 mins. Absolutely ridiculous will never be going back because of the unprofessionalism. Just being talked down to as soon as you show up and no one else is there. What an absolute joke of a starter. This place is a prime example of as soon as you give someone a clipboard and a little power it goes to their head and they think they can treat you however they want. Good luck paying a decent amount of money to be talked down to. read more

This place sucks, the course is in terrible condition and the layout is ridiculous. One hole will be 400 yards and the next will be 70. The greens look like a minefield, and worst of all the neighborhood that surrounds the course is very rude. Some dude literally blew an air horn from his deck in my back swing and others just playing loud music which I suppose is their right to do but still not great for a golf course. read more

On Monday Oct 10 I attempted to play a round here. On the 4th hole I made a mistake and drove the golf cart off the cart path. I admit this and recognize I made a mistake and did something I should not have done. No excuses, My bad. I had hit my drive to the right of the cart path and just advanced it past some trees as best I could and proceeded to go pick up my partner. He reminded me this hole is cart path only and I immediately turned the cart around and returned to the path, driving forward a few yards to play my ball. At this point I was yelled at from about 100 yards away by a course worker who I assume had been mowing an adjacent fairway. I apologized and said I was sorry, stating that I had not seen the "cart path only "sign and admitted It was my mistake and again said I'm sorry. He continued to yell and I once again stated I was sorry. He then yelled he was sick and tired of you people not respecting the course. and I again yelled back I was sorry. He continued to yell at me I said I'm sorry (again) what do you want me to do. He then yelled "am I going to have to follow you around all day" and I yelled back go right ahead do whatever you have to do, and again said I'm sorry. this went on for a few more back and forth as I walked forward to attempt to play my next shot. As I tried to address the ball he again yelled. every time I attempted to address the ball he did this finally yelling he was sick fo golfers thinking they can pay to play and do whatever they want on the course not "respecting" the course. I finally yelled back that he also had to learn to respect customers and again said I was sorry I don't know what else I can do. This went on for at least 5 minutes and probably more. Up to this point I was having a good round but my day and round were ruined at this point. This day was definitely not fun. Again I admit my mistake, I was wrong and have no problem being told in a respectful way of my mistake. In this case I was berated, belittled and treated like a piece of trash. I will not return here or recommend it to anyone else. Spend your money where your business is appreciated! read more

This place sucks. The lady in the club house is a total bitch and the course is right next to what someone described as a "mushroom farm" so it smelled like literal shit all day. On top of that the course was in awful condition, especially the greens. I will never be returning. Disgrace! read more

this used to be a Great Golf course now it is dying a slow death. Poor maintenance is killing the greens and tee boxes. The bunker are in poor condition and have not been touched in weeks. Tree trimming and tree harvesting is desperately needed to allow air and sun to the course esp around the tee box and fairways. I cant believe the owners are not interested in maintaining this golf course. This was once very good course...very sad. read more

I am a 15-18 handicap. I hadn't played this course in 16 years. Stopped playing it because it was too difficult. Quirky holes. Hard to see pin on 2nd shot of par 4 after hitting ball 230 ???? Joke. No sand in traps. Mud and hard pan, along with high grass around bunkers (which is fine if you can get out). Course is too difficult even for better golfers. Hopefully the land gets bought out and re-done. read more

If it wasn't for the cheap green fees I woulda asked for a refund. No way it's ranked 6th best public course in Pennsylvania. Bunkers weren't raked. Tee boxes were in bad shape. Some bunkers had no sand. Weeds everywhere. read more

One of the worst managed course I have played in a while. Everytime I've played around 2pm, it always take 5 hrs or more to finish. The pro shop pack so many players in but don't bother having rangers out to manage the pace of play. Over priced; badly managed; don't think I will be driving that far again to play this course. read more

Great golf for the price. Free use of the driving range and no extra charge for the golf cart. I got out of my car and a kid who worked there drove a cart up for me and offered to load my bags. Above and beyond what you'd expect from a public course in this area at this price. The course was in great condition from tee box to greens, and the pace of play was perfect on Memorial Day. I think our foursome might have waited once all day, and no one was right up our tail either. The rough was pretty long (about 4 inches), making for some tough shots if you miss the (admittedly wide) fairways. Very challenging blind shots on most holes. My only gripe was the limited food and beer selection. If they open a little pub I'll give 5 stars. Otherwise a great time, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended. read more

Played the coarse for the first time last Saturday from the tips. Awesome layout, a very difficult coarse if your not driving the ball well. The only thing I would suggest to the management is to equipt the carts with divot mix. I think that everyone would love to help take care of this Gem. When you read reviews of slow play its only because this coarse can eat you for lunch! Great price too! Can't wait to play it again. read more

Course is in poor condition. Over watered (lost 2 balls in fairway - plugged), crabgrass, neither fairways or greens cut. Bunkers are poor as well. Neither divots replaced or ball marks fixed. read more

Pretty course but very very difficult!! Lots of hills. Quite a without. Will not play again.

Worst course ever. Greens were horrible. Terrible layout. Dumb holes. Weirdo at front desk who is always there. Cart was held together by duct tape. Dumb ass starter confiscated my cooler and made me buy expired 6packs inside. Will never go back. 50 range balls on first fairway. The entire course is built around sewage treatment plant. 5hr round. Not worth five dollars. Worst golf round ever confirmed by entire Foursome. Will never play there again. read more

Golf course is nice to play and have used it for many years. We typically would play this course twice a month. However, today there was a lot of annoyances that you don't expect when you are playing golf.....I was playing at about 2:30 pm today and walked by a couple of piles of dog crap. I have seen people that live on the golf course walking their dogs on the course (even when golfers are playing!). No one wants to walk in that while playing golf. The other major problem we all were annoyed about was the lemonade stand that kids placed on the edge of the course. It probably wouldn't have been too bad of a distraction except for the fact that the kids were screaming lemonade and ice tea for sale on the tops of their lungs while we were teeing off There is a time and place for everything and when golfing I don't want to hear kids screaming on the course. Pretty surprised they allow them to do it on the golf course property. Won't come again if this happens in the future. After finishing up we heard others say the same thing today. read more
