My adopted son was born with a drug addiction. When he was 4, he was experiencing a great number of behavioral problems. The therapists who had been working with him for a year and a half offered little help. I was quickly approaching my wits end. A friend invited us to a martial arts class taught by Mr. Turner. Before class, I called Mr. Turner and explained Tommy's background over the phone. It didn't even phase him. We arrived for class. Tommy did not want to participate and even took a swing at Mr. Turner! Yes, my 4 yr old tried to take on a 10 time world champion! After class, I fully expected that Mr. Turner was going to tell me that this wasn't going to work. What happened instead? Mr. Turner looked at me and confidently pronounced, "Ma'am, I WILL make him better!" I was surprised and very grateful. Needless to say, I signed my son up immediately. What happened? In a very short 3 weeks, Mr. Turner had done more for my son than a year and a half of therapists! In fact, I discontinued the behavioral therapy and stuck with Mr. Turner. Tommy's behavior dramatically improved! Here we are 4 years later. I can honestly say that enrolling Tommy in Mr. Turner's class, was the best decision I have ever made for my son and my family. Today, Tommy is a well-behaved and successful second grader. I owe all of this to Mr. Turner! When Mr. Turner tells you, "Yes, I can," he means it and he accomplishes what he says he will. Our son was a student of Mr. Turner's school in San Antonio, TX from November 2013- December 2016. Under Mr. Turner's guidance, we saw our 5 year old boy grow into a disciplined, confident, competitive martial artist. From the first class, the expectations are set and the path to success begins. We can't say enough about Innovate Martial Arts. Our children are receiving unbelievable training in a clean, state of the art, family friendly facility. Under the ownership of Mr. Turner and Ms Alvarez, we have watched our children grow not only in skills but in confidence as well. Under new ownership since the beginning of 2017 this is the new place to go for martial arts in the Jackson area for children as well as adults. My son has been a student here since they opened in 2011 but what a difference we have seen in him since the beginning of the year. He has become freshly motivated and much more engaged in his taekwondo. He is more concerned about mastering the fine points of his moves than ever before.
