There are so many good things to say about CKO Freehold that one post wouldn't be enough. For two years and up until today, it's the only fitness spot that kept me showing up almost every day, simply because the workout delivered results. Over and beyond that, the business owner, Mike Sclafani, is nice and generous, and the staff are genuinely friendly, welcoming, supportive, and professional. It's just sad to learn that after 14 years, it is closing its doors permanently on September 15, 2026. Still, I am thankful for the two years of incredible workouts, the dedication of the trainers, and the amazing "Third Place" built within the walls of Club KnockOut. read more

After seeing the advertising for CKO classes, and wanting to try something new, I decided to try a workout with CKO of Freehold. I signed up for a free trial class and I really enjoyed it. Before the class you fill out a waiver with your personal contact info so the club has it. After the class, there was no one at the desk to talk to, so instead of waiting around, I left and figured I would call another day or that they would reach out to me based on the information I had filled out. The funny part is, after the free trial class I wanted to sign up for regular classes, and since then, absolutely no one has contacted me back. I live about 30 min away from this location, but it is closer to me than other locations. Before taking the drive out there, I thought I would speak with someone about my questions over the phone or email. I first tried calling the business a few times and the line was busy. I waited, and called back and an answering machine came on saying they either had a class in session, or that management stepped out, and the best way to reach anyone was to go to the website and fill out the "Contact Us" form. I did that and included my questions about the membership. I received an automated response saying that I could sign up for a free class. It made no sense since I already took one and did not answer the specific questions I had about pricing and membership. There was a secondary email they provided, where you could ask questions, and so, I figured I would email it and someone would get back to me. Nope. I received another automated response saying that I should fill out the "contact us" form on the website, which I already did. Frustrated, I called back again and the same message played telling me to visit the website and submit an inquiry, with no one answering. After submitting inquires through the website multiple times on different days, no one has called me back in two weeks or reached out to me. They don't answer the phone at all. I decided to no longer pursue a membership here. I really don't know why the system is set up this way. How do they expect to get new customers if no one is there to speak with you? I am writing this review so maybe they take this experience into consideration and update their communication methods. They are losing business by giving people the run around! Also disappointed that no one has reached out to me after filling out the form with my information! I no longer want to sign up with them, but seriously hope they rethink how they communicate. CKO has the best workouts in Freehold! Each trainer has their own style that make classes different and exciting no matter who is on the schedule. They are all knowledgable, motivating and supportive of our goals. Every 30 minute class is a full body workout you can modify to your own level of comfort/ability and packed with great music! CKO Freehold member for about 2 years now. Clean gym, great staff and clientele, and the workouts are intense. You can modify to go at your own pace. Great workout! Many of the instructors have some martial arts background which for me as a martial artist & instructor is important.

I am a huge fan of CKO. The staff here is really nice and motivating and the facility is clean. You really get in a workout during that hour. Some of the instructors do all bag work while other instructors incorporate other things (weights, abs, running, etc) and works out your entire body which keeps you sore for days (to me that is a GREAT thing). They have so many classes during the week so I can always find time to go. They also play some great music. I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun workout away from a boring routine. read more

I have been attending CKO for a little over a year. I have lost 25 lbs and never have felt better in my life. I am diabetic and every one of my blood stats went down. My doctor is amazed at how far I have come. I am 65 years old and if I can you can. No excuses. Just do it. In August I met my challenge of 100 classes for this calendar year. This is without a doubt in my mind the best thing I have ever done for myself. The staff is amazing, the instructors are the best and really care. Just try one class. What do you have to lose except some inches, pounds and just look and feel better. I highly recommend it. read more

I watched class but I did not end up trying it Went in because I live local and saw some positive reviews. Nice people but little kickboxing knowledge. Not real kickboxing by any means. Members are jammed into close quarters and you are literally bumping into the people around you. You will get a workout, but it is really for people who just want to get a sweat going or do not know any better They also don't use or recommend proper equipment. They use small gloves instead of proper boxing gloves and hand wraps. It could be dangerous if you are striking the bag hard, in that the hand and wrists are not optimally protected. However, it is safer than cross-fit. No offense guys but there are so many great kickboxing coaches in Monmouth county, but not here. As for the positive reviews, these guys obviously have lots of friends. The positive reviews all say they are the best gym (which is a funny overstatement). Only 1 positive review remains. The other 12 were removed from recommended reviews because they were all written within 48 hours of each other on June 13 & 14. Since then no more reviews other than this one. read more

Like the typical clubs these folks simply do not understand what a cancel notification is. With ample notification via US Mail and phone calls, they failed to cancel the contract given their own terms and conditions. Just another club that continues to give this industry a very nasty name. Just finished my first CKO class (since 2014) and it was AMAZING!!! Michael was so friendly welcoming me back. He matched me up with instructor Kim to walk me through the basics. She was so thorough and so sweet, making me feel extremely comfortable. Anthony taught the class, and to say he was amazing is an understatement. He spoke so clearly and motivated me the entire time throughout my workout, without screaming or seeming like a drill instructor. Not only can I not remember the last time I sweat this much during a workout, but I haven't felt this great after in so long!! I cannot wait to continue my classes at this CKO location. I have been a member of CKO Freehold for just over a year now and it has been one of the best decisions I made. I just turned 47 and in the past year I experienced results that I truly did not anticipate. I am down 43 lbs.!!! The workouts are challenging and fun. The instructors are ALL amazing with each putting their own little twist into the workout keeping it fresh and motivating. The community of members are also such a great part of the experience as everyone is there supporting each other. Whether it is an event that is being held, a challenge, or just a Saturday morning where you get to see the other members all working towards similar goals, you're building friendships and becoming part of the CKO family. Sign up for a free class and come get hooked on CKO like I did. In time, with a little effort, you'll see results and want to just keep going. It has to be bad for me to waste my time writing a review and let me tell you, it's bad, really really bad. This may very well be the most disgusting gym I've been to in this area in my opinion. Let me start off by saying that I've gone to the Jackson location as a drop in from time to time but stopped going there because of the schedule and other things I didnt like. This place is far worse in every respect. The instructor who I went to was tripping over his words the entire time and used very old, boring and not fast enough music. combos were way too long and hard to follow and you could barely hear him on the poor mic system that was going in and out the entire time. I used to teach fitness back in the day at places that were group fitness one of which even offered boxing. From what I can see, this gym is not following a single fitness industry standard and it is obvious. Not a single person was friendly, the gym had an extremely cliquey vibe and the room was way to hot for a moderate to intense level workout such as this. The girl at the front really tried to push me to join and wasn't very friendly with the questions I was asking and i felt that she was trying to be purposely vague on the questions I asked about the contracts they offer. They want me to join? I barely wanted to finish the class. I challenge anyone to go to this place and actually take note of what I considered to be extremely poor quality and maintenance and ask if this is really worth 70 dollars a month before tax with a year contract! And by the way, I burned 597 calories according to my apple watch while going pretty hard the whole time and working up a big sweat. That's a far cry from the 1200 calories that they claim you'll burn in one class. I know it varies person to person but in my opinion I dont know how 1200 calories is possible because it's not that intense, it's moderate to intense at best. Can't really say anything else other than I thought everything about it was bad and I didn't like the way I was treated. Its genuinely difficult to find good gyms in this entire area... oh well, on to the next. read more

I can't say enough good things about CKO Freehold. I was stuck in a fitness routine at another gym and was getting nowhere, and I finally had the courage to try something new. From one free trial class, I was hooked... Ok, addicted. I was nervous because I had zero experience with kickboxing. But I quickly picked it up and now it is by far, the BEST workout I have ever done. In just 2 weeks I was down 6 inches overall. I am finally seeing definition in places that I've been working on for over a year. It's a full body, intense cardio workout packed into one hour... What more could you ask for? The staff is absolutely incredible and make you feel welcome the minute you step in the door. The trainers are each amazing in their own way, and I can honestly say they are all my favorite! Motivating, helpful, knowledgable and most of all, passionate about kickboxing. Each workout is different and always keeps you on your toes. I have yet to be bored! I would give them 10 stars if I could! read more
