Shane (owner of Mac's Wired) did some electrical work for my son on his new home a few hundred feet down the road from us. I went over to ask Shane about a Generac system, as he is a licensed Generac installer. Shane was more than helpful and a week later we set up a "walk through" to assess our exact needs. Based on Shane's expert advice we settled on a 26KW unit to power our home and sizeable workshop. The process couldn't have been easier. In addition to a very detailed itemized price list, Shane took care of all the permits and inspections with the county, power company and propane company contacts. The equipment was initially slow in coming due to a heavy demand nationwide, but Shane kept us informed weekly of the equipment progress. Finally on that wonderful day he and his outstanding crew showed up right on time and set to work immediately. By noon the generator was in place and hooked up to our electric panel. Shane had already scheduled the final inspection by the county and we were set within a few days. Our new underground propane tank came within a day or two and once hooked up, the Generac performed flawlessly. In addition to our generator Shane and crew needed to correct subpar wiring installed by a previous owner that was NOT up to code. Shane's rapport with the inspector in this matter was great and it was obvious by the way they interacted that the inspector was well acquainted with and respected Shane's high caliber work. Shane was very thorough explaining how the entire system works and about how every generator he installs is monitored 24/7 by him personally. If there's ever a problem he gets an immediate alert and he's on it. A few months later I needed ethernet cable pulled from my garage panel out to my aforementioned shop. Shane, although very busy with a backlog of much bigger jobs, still found time to come back and install the ethernet cable at a very reasonable cost. And now we're penciled in for a few ceiling fans in the future. To sum up, you'd be hard pressed to find a better electrician and crew to handle any electrical project or problem you might have. They said it would "Save me money," on future service or repairs. So, I joined. Months later, we had a filler hose on a washing machine leak. I called Cool Ray. They came out and recommended we replace the hoses with stainless steel hoses. I thought this was a good idea, so I asked how much that was going to cost and was told it was going to be $945. We have a large washer and a small washer, as well as a steam dryer, so there are actually 3 lines. I told the tech that I had a service so we should get a discount. He showed me with the discount it was $315 per line. I went ahead and had it fixed. The tech had the needed parts. He replaced the lines. Total time in the house was under 1 hour. After it was done, I checked the price on the 3 lines and was disturbed that I could have bought them for all for under $100. I can see charging $315 for a service call and installing 1 line, but when they charged the same for the additional 2 lines, I feel that I was ripped off. I sent a letter to the manager asking for a partial refund. I also called twice and asked to speak to the manager. Nobody ever responded so I cancelled my service contract. This was several months ago. I am still being charged the $9.95 per month and have to dispute it with my credit card company. Stay away from this company.
