I have used CoolRay for many things and continue to return. I'm having them run a separate circuit for a set of recessed lights in my dining area of a combined kitchen/dining space. The scope of the job changed as Frank talked me through it. What I like about all of my interactions with their technicIans is that they are patient with this "older" woman as I try to explain problems and reach solutions that make sense to me. Yesterday Frank was personable and friendly while helping me decide how to solve the problem bugging me. I trust he will do a good job for me. We used Cool Ray for fixing our air conditioning and didn't have a problem. They offered to get me on a service contract for $9.99 per month. They said it would "Save me money," on future service or repairs. So, I joined. Months later, we had a filler hose on a washing machine leak. I called Cool Ray. They came out and recommended we replace the hoses with stainless steel hoses. I thought this was a good idea, so I asked how much that was going to cost and was told it was going to be $945. We have a large washer and a small washer, as well as a steam dryer, so there are actually 3 lines. I told the tech that I had a service so we should get a discount. He showed me with the discount it was $315 per line. I went ahead and had it fixed. The tech had the needed parts. He replaced the lines. Total time in the house was under 1 hour. After it was done, I checked the price on the 3 lines and was disturbed that I could have bought them for all for under $100. I can see charging $315 for a service call and installing 1 line, but when they charged the same for the additional 2 lines, I feel that I was ripped off. I sent a letter to the manager asking for a partial refund. I also called twice and asked to speak to the manager. Nobody ever responded so I cancelled my service contract. This was several months ago. I am still being charged the $9.95 per month and have to dispute it with my credit card company. Stay away from this company. read more

Going through a nightmare situation with a Cool Ray right now. Purchased a new HVAC system from them last year. About a month ago, it stopped properly cooling. They decide it's a bad coil and need to order a new one. It takes weeks. They come and replace the part finally. They leave. It still doesn't work. They come back the same day and say now they've fixed it. Next day when it gets hot it's still not working. All the while, everytime I call I have to go through an answering service instead of actually talking to someone with the company. Avoid this company like the plague!! read more

They have an employee there that is a horrible person. Donald Self came to my house and claimed he fixed our air conditioner unit. Two hours later the same problem came back. He claimed he drained the unit, he did not. He claimed his change out a switch, he did not, and then charged us 358.00. He also left a big puddle of water in the unit, which made the unit turn off again, it was 90 degrees in our home. Called them back and they sent out Mr. Ronald Goodpasture and he did a great job with explaining everything to us and getting our air back to working properly. Compared to the competition, Coolray had their act together. The company that originally installed the heat pump (Maynard Select) told us the compressor was out of warranty, causing us to go through pages of faded carbon paper documents to try to prove otherwise. Richard from Coolray got the serial number and found the warranty information immediately. It took a couple of (hot) days to get the parts and labor to line up, but It's now fixed, per an itemized estimate with a clearly stated warranty. High price and wont even give a range over the phone to know what to expect. Was hit with a $300 quote to change out a washer in the hose spigot, when a kit to repair costs about $20. Plus we had tightened it enough to have a very slow leak and they made the leak worse so now I have to fix it immediately. read more

I have had a terrible experience with CoolRay. When my HVAC went out, I shopped around before landing on CoolRay. They were the best price and had a pretty good warranty. The first issue was that after the install, it wouldn't cool my bedroom. My old unit cooled the bedroom just fine, no issues. They said they couldn't do anything because my duct work is in the walls. I expressed multiple times that the previous unit worked fine and if they didn't tinker with the ductwork I don't understand what would have changed. They did nothing to address it or fix it. A year later I called AGAIN about the same problem. The technician called to tell me there would be a service fee (after I had already confirmed there wasn't one) and seemed to be making up excuses as to why he didn't need to come. When he finally came, he walked in my room and said there was nothing he could do. He didn't measure the temperature at the vents. He didn't check to see if the other rooms were warmer or cooler. He didn't look at my thermostat or unit. He just said there was nothing he could do. He finally offered for a manger to call. That was Sunday. To no one's surprise, a manager didn't call. I called again mid week and was told they would escalate the call so a manager would reach out. That also didn't happen.Today is Friday and I am still waiting on the manager to call. I am beyond disgusted with this company, their poor customer service and lack of follow through. read more

Cool Ray installed a hvac split system in our home as a Home Depot contractor. From the first 2 weeks the unit would not keep up in the space they installed the unit for. Long story short after several returns to our home to tell us all was well with the unit and install we were told our space had pre-existing conditions and the unit would never work unless we sprayed foamed the rafters a 20,000.00 job. Cool Ray at the end of day did nothing but lie and tell us we told you this up front its even in your contract. Well they did not tell us and it most definitely is not in our contract. They installed a 2 ton unit where our 1.5 ton unit had quit working. That 1.5 ton had been operating for 26 years by the way and their 2 ton will not work. After many discussion with the Home Depot about this Home Depot will only say the unit not operating correctly may be caused by pre-existing conditions and invited us to sue them. Wonder how two old people would fair suing a corporate giant like Home Depot. Run do not walk away from using Cool Ray. read more

Scam company. My family was told on the phone that the dispatch cost would only be $66 to come down to check and $175 if we chose to get a pound of freon. We refused the freon since it turned out the problem was our AC was frozen and we were charged $190 for Dispatch + "Service". The "service" done was just a guy hooking up a scanner, the company made no effort in informing us or my brother who was outside with them of the additional cost for merely hooking up a scanner till after the "service" was done. I sat on this review for a bit to ensure I had my final thoughts. I used Coolray for plumbing and electrical issues. They wouldn't give me a quote by phone or online for basic services (even a ballpark), instead insisting on looking first. To look (for plumbing) they had to get things taken apart ensuring you're pretty much going to go ahead and pay whatever to resolve the issue. We initially called for one plumbing issue, they fixed it (for a steep price) and the plumber was friendly. Said plumber also took a look at another issue I had as I mentioned it off-hand, and said it was fixed but it resumed to its completely broken ways as soon as he left. Can't complain too much there as he didn't charge and thought he had resolved it (plus noone else has been able to fix this issue either). To get a price that wasn't as bonkers high he encouraged us to join their "Customer Care" loyalty group (for a price). I did. It was still really high, but I was never billed for that customer care thing so I'm assuming it was lost somewhere along the way. Called Coolray again for electrical issues. Had been working with another local electrician who were at the moment not responsive. Coolray was super responsive and out quickly. They fixed part of what we paid them to fix, but there was some misunderstanding. We pointed out a light that was arcing and causing issues. Both lights behind a panel needed replacing as wiring for both switches was frayed. They only replaced one of these two switches, which means they took the panel off, saw the fraying, and only replaced one of them. I realized this was so when I got home and turned on the assumed fix light only to see flickering and hear a pop. Called Coolray to see if they could fix this issue which we thought we'd already paid for, and they said they had only charged us for one of the two switches and quoted us a remarkably high price to come out (including a service fee for making the drive at all) and fix the additional switch. We went with another electrician for half the price. So--solid work for the most part if some miscommunication, high even for the market area. read more

First off the arrogance of 'service' person was so unnecessary, brought a kid to 'diagnose ' , diagnosis was incorrect ! Told needed new sump pump ( not the barrel or sleeve) to the tune of $2000. Called elsewhere & correct diagnosis was float switch which could have been repaired for way way less but decided to go new due to age of my old pump to the tune of $600. - coolrays could not 'break down' their crazy price of 2k for a job that would take less than 30 mins & told me it was a pump made in USA by Liberty ( Home Depot has the exact pump for 380.) ! The 'service' person didn't care that i knew that price was so inflated & told me if you don't like the price I don't know what to tell ya - replace it or don't , laughed & got in his truck with kid in tow & left ! Way, way overpriced. Tech came out to give me an estimate to install an outlet on my kitchen island. The kitchen island already had one outlet on one end of it, and I wished to install another outlet on the other end due to it having a larger food prep area and it would be more convenient to plug in a blender or Cuisinart in this area. My kitchen island is about 10-12 feet in length and there is already an outlet directly under the kitchen sink (sits in middle of the island) for the disposal which they would be able to tap into and then run the new wire for the new outlet about 6 feet for the new outlet. I have a real estate business in another state, and use various vendors (electricians, plumbers, roofers, landscapers, etc) monthly so I have a pretty decent idea what a fair price is for a job. I figured the install of the outlet would be a 45 minute to 1 hour job max: tap into the existing outlet, run 5-6 feet of new wire, cut a hole through the interior island wall, cut a hole in the side of the kitchen island, install the outlet box, and install the outlet, pretty simple job. Coolray quoted me approximately $450.00! The quote was actually laughable. I currently pay licensed, bonded and insured electricians $100.00 an hour for work in my business I mentioned earlier. Coolray's price would have amounted to approximately $400/hour, basically the same amount I pay my attorney for legal guidance. I called another electrician (licensed, bonded, and insured) and he did the job in 50 mins for $110.00. I live in a nice area and it's been my experience that vendors have different prices based upon the zip code they are quoting the job, I don't know if Coolray bid it higher due to where I live or if the quote was there normal pricing, but as mentioned above, there quote was laughable. I definitely would advise people to shop around before using Coolray. read more

This started back in July. I made a call to schedule two appointments. Only one was put on the books, so I had to wait 5 weeks before I could have my air conditioner looked at, even though I have the contract for the monthly billing. They called me on Sunday to cancel the 10 to 12 Monday appointment and moved it to 12:00 to 2:00. They called at 2:30 Monday and said they were running late. That was obvious because they were already late. She then made the appointment for four to six PM. A few minutes later I was called back and advised that it would be Tuesday. I was advised they would text me what time the service person would be here. They never texted me! Then I get a call at 8:15 the morning of the unscheduled service saying that service man was on his way. The service person arrived here at 8:45. He tells me they no longer can service my air conditioner because they do not carry Freon anymore. All of this after I had just asked in July if they still had it. read more

I have always been impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of everyone connected with Cool Ray H&A. It may cost a little more but I always have a picture of the Tech coming to my house and they have repaired quickly the issues I have had from plumbing to electrical to the HVAC. While suggestions are made as to what repairs are needed there is no pressure and an estimate of the work is always given before the work is done. I set up a Saturday, May 18, 2024 A/C tuneup appointment ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE (April!) via Home Depot because my mom has late stage severe vascular dementia and I'm her caregiver in another state. Coolray sent a reminder text on Friday, May 17, yet nobody showed up on Saturday, May 18. Stuff happens, there are emergencies- I completely understand. Nobody called, and nobody responded to my text. it's not ok to treat customers this way. In the future - when I do need a repair, or to replace my HVAC system entirely - why would I opt for a company that couldn't communicate about a tuneup appointment? The tuneup appointment is where a company like this forges a relationship. Do yourself a favor - and find another company. They don't value their customers' time. read more

Coolray repaired the electrical pole on my house after storm damage. When they quoted me a price, it seemed high but I agreed and asked for an itemized receipt under the impression that my insurance company would cover it. The invoice I received had a single line item for the total repair cost. Naturally, the insurance company wants an itemized receipt before paying the steep price. I called and requested an itemized receipt and was assured that I would receive it. I also sent an email via their online form requesting the same. Now nearly three months later, I have heard nothing and can only assume I was lied to in order to agree to the job. I cannot recommend Coolray. Go with someone else, even if it takes a little longer. read more

This company is a sub-par business with no concern for your time or answers to your AC/Heating needs. They called us as a service provider for a big box store and scheduled to be at the location at 9am and then called minutes before to say they wouldn't be there until 11 am, only to call again and say they would still be late. Then proceeded to tell us that they will not install items from the big box store even though they are service-installation providers for them. They gave us a ridiculously high estimate without coming out to look at the area. Unprofessional, rude, and should be out of business. Beware!!! read more

Such is the case in my recent interaction with Coolray Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical in Nashville. You could say they went the extra mile, but it was more like five miles. I mean, sure their website lists stuff like a 10-year warranty, same day service, and a 100% guarantee, but that's just the beginning. Because they not only do excellent work on the equipment, they also do excellent work on the customer. Treating you with respect, integrity, and most of all, honesty. Really, as a senior citizen, this company feels like a throwback to times when everything is above board and above average.
